Kuroyagi-san’s Letter Corner: Cherry Blossom Season Part 3! (Number 69)

One third of May has already flown by!

How can time go by so quickly?! (((゚Д゚)))

But this year has been strangely cold… it seems that Spring hasn’t really come yet! I hope the colder temperature continue into the Summer, so it doesn’t get too hot! Anyway, today will be the final post in this series…

Kuroyagi-san’s Letter Corner: Cherry Blossom Season 2013!

I hear that there are still some blossoms blooming in Hokkaido, but I had to get this post done this week, so I’m sorry if you didn’t get the chance to send through your photos!!

I will still happily look through all photos that come through, and I’m always looking for letters for the normal letter corner, so feel free to still send them through!

I kept putting off taking photos because of work or the weather, and before I knew it all the blossoms in my neighbourhood has started falling. I decided I still needed a photo and drove for about two hours to get some pictures of Miku with the cherry blossoms!

I went out to view the cherry blossoms with a Nendoroid for the first time! I went alone, so it was hard to get the photos I really wanted. I finally got this, which I’ve now set as my desktop’s wallpaper!

005

This year there weren’t many branches which lead to not many cherry blossoms, but I decided to still send in my picture of Cheerful Miku basking in the light of the sunset.

I’ve been waiting to go to to my local park to get some photos while the cherry blossoms were in full bloom… but the weather just wasn’t cooperating. But eventually there was a nice sunny day for me to grab some pictures! I think it came out looking quite cute! (´ω`)

– Shinonome Eisuke
002

I decided to match the blossoms with the size of the Nendoroids, so I found some young branches near the bottom of a cherry tree! They may be small, but they still had lovely blossoms flowering! (´∀`)

“I hope you’re drinking, Sanada Yukimura~!!”
“I can still go on much longer, Masamune-dono!

It seems this little cherry blossom viewing party will continue for some time!

– Kuraki

Last year I really enjoyed viewing everyone’s loving photos during the cherry blossom season, so I decided I had to go out and get some for myself this year. I’m really not great with a camera, but I thought I’d still send through my favorite photo from the ones I took. I hope you’ll enjoy it!

This was the first time I had ever taken Miku outside, and her expression seemed happier than ever before!

Bonjour Mikatan,
J’ai adoré les photos dans les articles du courrier de Kuroyagi-san.

It seems Gackpo went out to see the cherry blossoms.

“They had all fallen down to the ground after being knocked down by birds… but they were still so pretty so I brought them back with me! ♪ I’m also sure they’ll look great on you, Luka!♪”
“Oh, thank you! ♪”

Was the conversation he had with Luka when he got home.

Sorry, I was only able to get a photo indoors! I love letting Nendoroids hold the blossoms or sticking them on with double-sided tape… but going outdoors for photos is still a hurdle I haven’t quite managed to get over! orz.

This is my first contribution, so I’m a little nervous. While the blossoms on the way to school were blooming, I took Sakura Miku with me to enjoy them! She’s so cute! ヾ(*゚▽゚)ノ

Here in Beijing, this year’s blossoms bloomed slower when compared to last year. I read you were still taking a few more contributions for Part 3, so I decided to send in my photo too! I’m sorry for the poor Japanese, but I hope you enjoy the photos! m(_ _)m

It’s the Two-Leek Swordsman and the Sakura Wizard? 😛

It’s really sad that the cherry blossom season is so short, but perhaps that is why they look so beautiful to us when they do bloom!

Hello.

I went to see the Takizakura cherry blossoms, so I thought I’d send a photo through to you.

This year’s cherry blossoms bloomed in no time at all, and it feels as if they also scattered to the floor in no time at all. At least, that’s how it felt in Tokyo…. I wonder if it was the same all over…?

I’m sure there are a lot of people who are thinking something like, “It was too quick, I didn’t even have time to see them!”

I thought I’d share this photo of a proud figure in front of some beautiful blooming blossoms for all those people.

– Komuragaeri Banzai

I went cherry blossom viewing with Sakura Miku, so I thought I’d send a photo through.

The photo was taken on the 21st April, it was the best time to see the blossoms in Miyagi prefecture even though it looked as if was about to snow. Even Sakura Miku was quite amazed at the scenery she saw!

(I’m sorry she had to get a little wet to see it though…)

A huge low pressure system hit my area, so I was never quite able to get the cherry blossom photos I wanted.

I was very happy to see all the photos from others though, they meant a lot to me. Even though I never got quite what I wanted, I still got something that I thought was nice enough to send through, so here it is!

I took it in the image of Homuhomu thinking deeply about Madoka, while standing under the cherry blossoms.

I also have to add that I’m really amazed at how people manage to take photos that hide the Nendoroid stands so well. It’s a lot of work to get great outdoor photos, but so many are absolutely amazing!

I carefully put Miku-san up onto a branch making sure not to injure the tree. Every time there was a slight breeze she kept making a cute ‘Kya!” and falling down. Eventually I managed to catch her in a cute pose though!

Today I’ll be showing the cherry blossoms from my hometown of Tomioka in Fukushima prefecture. As I’ve previously written in my Miku support message back in 2011, my hometown was marked as a hazard area after the Great Tohoku Earthquake and Fukushima Nuclear Reactor incident.

It’s been two years since the incident now, and slowly but surely the area is getting back to normal, but entry is still very limited at the moment. My hometown of Tomioka was actually once very famous for its cherry blossoms before the incident, and many tourists would come by to see them. Ever since I first heard Sakura Miku was going on sale last year, I’ve been keen to go back to take some photos of Tomioka’s cherry blossoms with her.

In March this year, the restrictions to entry were loosened even further, and permission to enter some of the area in which the cherry blossoms bloom was allowed. I was a little worried to go, but I couldn’t resist, so I went with my Sakura Miku for some photos. The area I really wanted to take photos at is called the ‘Cherry Blossom tunnel’, but unfortunately the radiation levels were high and I could only see it from my car – I still had to take some photos elsewhere though.

I’m very glad I was able to show Sakura Miku the cherry blossoms of my hometown. The complete restoration of the area may still be awhile away, but I’m sure that by next year we’ll be able to see the cherry blossoms properly once again. Another big thank you to both Mikatan and Good Smile Company for all you’ve done!

(´∀`) Thank you for all the lovely photos! I’m very sorry I wasn’t able to put them all up on the blog! I’m so glad to see how many people are enjoying the cherry blossoms with their figures! Cherry blossoms really are so lovely!

(´∀`) I increased the brightness of some of the darker photos!

(´∀`) I really got the impression that everyone was trying hard not to hurt nature with their photos. It’s always best to be gentle with your figures and with nature!

(´∀`) There was a load of messages from overseas! Thanks to all the international fans!!

(´∀`) I’m always encouraged by my readers. When I see the figures we’ve spent a good half a year working on being enjoyed by people all over, I really feel happy inside! huge thank you yo everyone, and I hope you’ll continue to love figures with me!

As always, I’m also looking for more messages from readers! I promise I’ll read them all, so if you have any questions, pictures, requests, or just want to talk about what you had for dinner… send through a mail! Boys and girls both welcome!

Kuroyagi-san’s Letter Corner: Cherry Blossom Season Part 2! (Number 67)

The cherry blossoms have all fallen here in Oshiage now…
But that doesn’t matter… I can just view the cherry blossoms through everyone’s photos instead!

Today we’ll be continuing with yesterday’s post…

Kuroyagi-san’s Letter Corner: Cherry Blossom Season!

There really were a load of Sakura Miku photos… which I guess is to be expected seen Spring matched up so nicely with her release date. I suppose receiving so many photos of her shows just how much people wanted a full-sized Nendoroid after the charm was first released!

Unfortunately I really can’t put all the photos I received up on the blog, but I promise I have looked at each and every one of them! Please continue to send more beautiful photos through in the future!

This year in Kyoto the weather hasn’t really been the best for cherry blossom viewing, but this morning there wasn’t a cloud in the sky and the flowers all looked lovely!

This photo was taken close to Togetsu bridge in Arashiyama. Miku is enjoying a little lunch under the blossoms!

This is actually the first time I’ve been out with a Nendoroid, and the scenery I’m normally so used to seemed more interesting from a Nendoroid’s point of view! It was a lot of fun!

Last week it rained quite hard and all the blossoms have fallen from the trees now, so the photo also became a nice memory of the blossoms!

I’ve taken many photos of Nendoroid in the past, but this is the first time I’ve sent anything through to you.

The photo is taken on a river bank in Kamogawa: fallen cherry blossom petals, clovers and Miku-san!

I had to sit really low with my legs to the side to try and line up the camera with Miku’s eyes! It was harder than you’d think! In the end it was worth it though, the pink Sakura Miku contrasts so nicely with the green background from the clovers for a really cute picture!

– Kyou no Akutsukai

The cherry blossom season has come once again! (´▽`)ノ

The blossoms really don’t last very long, so as soon as I see them start blooming I always head out with my Nendoroids and camera as soon as possible! I’m really not a very outgoing person, especially seen I suffer from allergies in Spring… but when it comes to Nendoroids I’m happy to become more active! (*´ω`)

Mikatan, Good Smile – thanks for everything!!

I’m a member of the Nendoroid girl’s club!!

I’ve been meaning to contribute a photo every year, but this is the first time I’ve actually done so!

I’ve never done outdoor photography before, so I took great care to make sure I didn’t drop or dirty my Nendoroids. The setting here is to have me as the master of the house, the Nendoroids are busy sweeping up the cherry blossoms!

I’m looking forward to more and more lovely Nendoroids in the future!

– Great Yoshino!
006

The blossoms have just started blooming here in Tottori prefecture, so I went out to view the blossoms with my Sakura Miku! (*´∀`*)

Her pink hair and the blossoms match so nicely… it’s so cute!! (*´ω`*)

I’ve been super busy between work and events, but I managed to find some time and went up a mountain where I managed to still find some cherry blossoms! (−ω−;)フゥ・・・

I was relatively sure that most people would be taking photos of the newly released Sakura Miku, so I decided to use Sakura-tan instead! I spent a good hour taking pictures!

The weather wasn’t great and the wind was really strong… which caused Sakura-tan to go 3m skydiving a couple of times. ^^;

I thought at first I should just come back another day instead… but most of the blossoms were already starting to fall, so I was worried I wouldn’t have the time! In the end I manged to get a couple of photos!

The cherry blossoms near Kiyomizu temple were blooming, the skies were a lovely blue and the pale light between the branches looked beautiful, so I had to take a picture! Spring is here!!
The first Spring we’ve had since moving to Oshiage!
The temperatures have really been all over the place this year, the Earth is going a little crazy it seems! The temperature changes make it easy to catch a cold, so everyone be sure to take good care of their health!
A big congratulations to those who just joined the working force or started college this Spring! GSC has also just welcomed our latest newcomers into the offices! There will be tough times and there will be fun times… probably more tough times to begin with, but in the end you can always get through anything if you put your mind to it!
Anyway, today we begin one of the regular yearly blog posts…
Kuroyagi-san’s Letter Corner: Cherry Blossom Season!
I’ll be upping as many images that I received before the 10th April as I can, but unfortunately it won’t be all of them! I received a total of 264 photos already!! A big thanks to everyone who sent their photos through!

Last year during the Sakura Photo Festival I was reluctant to head outside for pictures as I was so busy, and never really got around to it in the end. But this time around I made sure to head out and grab some pictures!!
My Miku-san just bought her very own car this year, so she decided to go on a drive to see all the cherry blossoms!

Since the cherry tree bloomed, a photograph was taken outside only after being accompanied by cherry  miku.

Kuroyagi-san’s Letter Corner! (Number 65)

Only two and a half months left of 2012!

I haven’t done a letter corner in ages… sorry everyone!

Ever since I joined GSC I’ve wanted to spread the love of figures as much as possible, but sometimes I get so pressured with work that I back into a corner and can’t get the time to do a letter corner. Fortunately I really do put whatever I like up on the blog… so I do try to add in this corner whenever I have the chance!

So… let’s get started! (`・ω・´)
Kuroyagi-san’s Letter Corner!

(゚д゚) Letters asking about changes to products are quite hard for me to reply to… but I do pass the info onto the design team!

(゚д゚) If there is a problem with your product, please email the Good Smile Support Team at: support@goodsmile.jp

(゚д゚) If you want to let me know something without me talking about it on the blog, just let me know in the mail and I’ll be happy to keep it quiet!

Please note that whatever I write in this section isn’t official – it’s just my thoughts on matters! If you’re only looking for official news, you might want to dodge this post!

I’m always following and enjoying both your blog and your twitter.

I purchased Snow Miku at both WonFes and through the website, and I was quite sad to see how differently the two came out. It was an unfortunate incident, but I haven’t lost my faith in Good Smile at all – in fact I’ve already preordered a number of other upcoming figures, and I trust they’ll all be great!
– Anonymous

Hello! I hope you’re well!

It seems like Snow Miku is causing quite a lot of trouble, so I hope you’re not too stressed! Both Mikatan and the GSC Support team are all so kind, so I’m sure everything will work out fine! I’m looking forward to all the cute figures that’ll be announced soon! Good luck!
– Tabu

Once again I’d like to apologize for all the problems that arose regarding the Nendoroid Snow Miku: Fluffy Coat Ver. Replacement parts are being sent out in order of the orders on the site, so you should have received, or be receiving a mail regarding the shipment shortly if you ordered her!

Many people sent in encouraging emails regarding the matter, and I’ve read through each and every one of them – thanks to everyone and sorry for the concern. There are many factors that come into the manufacturing of the figures, and with the constant attempts to improve quality, the increase of customers and the state of affairs in China, many problems can arise during production. That said, we will of course be doing everything in our power to make sure that everyone who ordered Miku is happy with their purchase.

Changing the subject a bit, I’ll be visiting China myself next year! I’ll be checking all the products with my own eyes and I’ll be reporting back to everyone about how the manufacturing line is looking in China!

What ever happened to the rerelease of Zetsubou-sensei that you mentioned on your blog back on the 11th July? You said he’d be rereleased soon, but it’s been over three months now!

I hope I didn’t somehow miss the rerelease or something…
– Anonymous

Sorry for the delay!!!

The rerelease is still being prepared, but he should be announced for rerelease soon! Keep your eyes on the blog, I’ll let you know as soon as he is available again!

Something I’ve been wondering about the figure making business… do the publishers request figure companies create figures of their products, or do the figure companies need to ask permission from the publishers to make figures from their series?
– Batten

Both possibilities can occur!

In most cases, the planning team will go to the publishers with their plans and ask permission, however recently there have been a number of requests coming from the other direction as well! It’s most common with Nendoroids, which I think it shows just how many people love Nendoroids!

I’m so glad to see the UtaPuri Nendoroid Petites!!
If there are 8 characters in one large box, does that mean there is a secret character? I can’t wait to find out!!

– Anonymous

You probably know by now, but there is a secret character!

You’ll have to wait and see who it is though! It is a secret character after all! They release next month, so you’ll be able to have the princes by your side shortly! (・∀・)ノ

Hello! I’m a big fan of your blog! I was fortunate to win some things in the Miku lots, and I heard there will be a new set of prizes in Winter, have they been decided yet?
– Anonymous

The FamilyMart x Miku HAPPY Lots officially start tomorrow, but many of the stores had already been running the lots since yesterday… apparently many of the stores have been absolutely packed.

I’m sure this probably will just make me look like a sore loser, but I feel that the supply and demand is not well structured for the lots. The chances of getting the GSC figures is so slim, and the bulk of people that win them simply buy endless lots and then put the winnings up for resale at exorbitant prices. It makes people like me who really want to win very unmotivated to even try.

Is it not possible to have the products available as made-to-order products at a later stage after the lots? I’m a huge fan of Miku and the Nendoroid series, and it makes me quite depressed to see that I can’t get my hands on some of the products without a slight stroke of luck.

– Wasabi

I received quite a lot of mail regarding the Miku HAPPY Lots, and let me first say that your concerns have been noted, and thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately due to the fact that the project is also largely in collaboration with FamilyMart and Miku , I don’t have very much say in the matter… I do however wish to apologise that we cannot simply sell the product to all the fans who want to get their hands on it. Figures are actually a fairly expensive commodity for students and the younger generation, so I think the possibility of getting a figure from a lot is quite a nice option for some!

As has been announced, there will be another set of Vocaloid lots this Winter that Good Smile Company will be associated with once again, however the prizes have not yet been announced. There will be more information available sometime in November, so just be patient a little while longer!

A quick question, do figures kept in their boxes have any risk of getting damaged over time? I have many unopened figures and I’ve become concerned about whether or not they’re safe like that.
– Anonymous

It depends on the product, but certain products will become kind of sticky on the surface if left in their boxes for a number of years. I asked the manufacturing team for a more detailed explanation, and they had this to say:

One of the raw materials for PVC plastic is oil, and when it remains in hot and humid conditions over a long period of time while still sealed, the oil-based plasticizing agent included in the products exudes onto the surface of the product causing it to become somewhat volatile. Removing the figures from the sealed state and into the open air prevents this from occurring, so it is a better idea to display your figures out of the boxes.

There you have it! It’s a good idea to either display the figures out of the box, or at least take them out for some air once in awhile. That said, it’s very unlikely that any other degradation will occur to figures kept in the boxes (except perhaps the loss of color from UV rays if they are stored in a sunny area). It all comes down to keeping good care of your figures so they can last as long as possible!

In the requests of figure polls, a scale figure of KAITO was one of the most requested figures, are there any plans to make him into a scale figure? Please tell me there are!! I look forward to seeing the sexy KAITO as a scale figure by my side!
– Rokuro

I’d really love to see a figma of KAITO. I’ve got the Nendoroid, but figmas were the reason I got into figures, so I’d love to see a figma of him as well!

My request might fall on deaf ears, but I thought I had to at least try!
– Herumetta

I want them too!! Σ(´Д`)

KAITO was high in multiple places of the polls, so he is being considered for figures!! Personally I’d love to see a figma as well – I want to be able to display him on my desk in a new way each and every day!

Your blog is always so playful and yet still very respectable, I often read the blog on my phone while riding on the train and end up bursting into laugher as everyone around stares at me suspiciously. When I found out you were really a girl I was really quite surprised! You always seem to notice the exact same details as me, and I’m a middle-aged guy! 😛

My wife, nephew and I will always be fans of both GSC and your blog! Looking forward to creative things are to come!

Thank you so much for the lovely comments! I always feel recharged after reading a message like this!

There are still many instances that I get mistaken for a guy online, but according to my birth certificate I am indeed a girl… perhaps it would have been better if I was born as a guy. ^^

I have something I want to ask you regarding Nendoroids – the holes on their back for the arm of the stand seem to never really be the right size, and no matter how hard I try to get the arm in, they just seem to slip off. Is there anything I can do about that? I’ve considered making the hole deeper myself, but I’m too worried that I’m going to end up breaking something! Is there any simple solution?

I love the work you do, keep it up!!

– Mon
If you really can’t seem to get the arm to fit into the hole, try warming up the joint on the arm with a hair dryer or hot water and then trying again. I often warm up the stands underneath the kotatsu or heater at home before trying to connect them to the Nendoroid – it’s a quick and easy method!

If the hole has become too big and the Nendoroid is falling off due to that, you can read up on some methods to make the arm thicker in the blog posts below:

I love seeing figures in locations from the series!

I’m so glad to see that Gakupo was so popular with the fans! I hope that you’re all looking forward to the recently announced GUMI Nendoroid as well! The ‘feudal lord’ expression you’re using in this picture is such a lovely expression part too… you can use it with any Nendoroid with ease!

I’ve been looking forward to Sanya for ages, and she finally arrived! She’s adorable, and I’m very happy with her! The first thing I did was recreate this scene from the 6th episode of the 1st season and took a photo! Now I’m just waiting with Eila to display with her!

Is the left side making use of the figma archetype? It makes it surprisingly sexy to have one bare leg like that!!

I love outdoor photography, but I must say that the digital backgrounds like this one are also lovely to see! You can even simply take a picture with the monitor in the background for quite a nice effect!

Nice to meet you! I’m a fellow girl that recently got into Nendoroids! My very first Nendoroid was bought by my parents for me… it was Nendoroid Sonic, and as a Sonic fan I couldn’t explain how happy I was to see him! I was so excited! Dear Mikatan:

This is the first time I write a letter to you, so maybe I am a little bit nervous… But first I must say: Thank you for all your excellent work~ I love GSC and I love mikatan too~

It is summer here in Hong Kong and I couldn’t stop myself from taking some photos of one of my most beloved figures: Ryuna. She just rose above the surface and she was there like a waterlily, with all the silent trees, all the silent water around. The only problem was I had to jump into the water to take this and later I caught a cold…

So, that’s all~ Hope we will meet again~

A message from overseas!!

She really looks like a true Goddess in this photo! The drops of water on the figure make it so much more beautiful – not to mention the lovely reflection of her legs in the water!! The contrast of the white swimsuit and the green background is also stunning! It’s amazing how wonderful a photo you can create even with the figure facing away from the camera – this is a perfect example!

So many of the photos that come from overseas have such unique ideas, they give me so many wonderful ideas!

Not to mention how incredible the pictures themselves look as a whole! Thank you for sending them through to me!!

Good Smile Boxes!

The Square-chan with a bomb on his head!

This isn’t a Good Smile product, but it was released just the other day!

Gakkun from the production team bought one so I’ve had a look at it myself, and it was so adorable that I regret not getting one myself. They say that you should rather regret buying something than not buying something – I think that becomes very true in the case of hobby goods!

I’m always looking at the lovely quality photos of figures on your blog, so I decided I’d have to send mine through for you to take a look at as well.

The room in the photo is a diorama made from wood that I made last year during summer vacation, inspired by the K-ON figmas. It was my first time working with wood, so the walls didn’t really match up neatly and it was very much a trial-and-error project. The wiring for the lights was particularly difficult to get right.

   - Giniro no Nanashi

003

It’s perfect…!!

I’ve had other dioramas of the K-ON clubroom sent in before, but I don’t think they have ever been in such amazing detail! Even the lights are working!!

It also looks like it is the perfect size for the figma characters! Everything must be so small!! I can really feel the love and effort you put into it, thank you for sending the photos through for me to enjoy as well!

I’ve attached some photos of Miku based on my favorite Miku song, World is Mine! (*´ω`)

I hope we’ll see more and more Miku and Nendoroids!!

   - Sayuu

Another perfect figure rendition!!

You really captured the spirit of the song into the photo nicely! Plus the contrast between the two photos is lovely!

I think you’ve also added in some custom paint work? It’s lovely that the changes don’t throw off from the effect of the photos at all!

Hello Mikatan! It’s a pleasure to meet you!  This is my very first mail, so I’m super nervous!

I had my friend take some pictures of my adorable Miku-san! ♪ In front of her you can see some delicious ham cutlets, and in the back you can see my senior!

I don’t have an actual camera of my own, but I definitely want to get one soon! I don’t really have the money, but if it’s for my Nendoroids then maybe I can splurge! I want to be able to take lovely photos like you do!! (*^_^*)

   - Shia

A lovely slice-of-life photo!

As I’ve mentioned before, I love photos that are taken in everyday situations like this! Some how the figures always look really exited in photos like these! ^^

The relaxed lighting also makes for a lovely effect. When you get your camera be sure to make lots of memories with all sorts of photos like this one!!  (*・ω・*)

The other day I went to Tokugawa Gardens in Nagoya to take some photos of the pum trees, so I thought I’d send some to you. It’s been rather cold this year, so there were still quite a few unflowered buds which was a little bit disappointing, but I still think it is a photo that captures the start of Spring quite nicely! 007

Yozora enjoying non-imaginary blossoms!

You don’t have to imagine the lovely blossoms like you do for your friends! Don’t worry Yozora!! That smile on her face is lovely!!

We’re heading into the rainy season now, but seeing a photo like this really shows how different each of the seasons are here in Japan – it’s lovely!

I had the day off work today, so I went down to Kyoto where the cherry blossoms were still in bloom for some photos!

It was very crowded which made it quite difficult to get a good picture, but in the end I had a lot of fun and ended up with some alright pictures. On the way home I grabbed some lunch on Shijou Street and then headed back home.

My Cheerful Luka arrived and I was so happy with her I had to send a mail to you! I expected her to come with only a single fringe part that you would exchange between the two hairdos, but she came with two complete hair sets!!

I decided that Luka would try on Kaito’s outfit and both the Lukas could cheer together! Thanks GSC and thank you Mikatan!

Luka in Kaito’s outfit and a ponytail!

She is absolutely adorable!! The team worked very hard on the new optional parts for the Cheerful Vocaloid products, so if you enjoyed them then we couldn’t be happier! (`・ω・´) I also love the headdress on Octo-Luka!!

Always take Nendoroids when traveling!

A picture of the scenery alone is great, but add in your favorite figure and it really becomes a picture to remember!! I also personally think that it becomes easier to remember! I hope to visit Germany again myself one day!

I just bought Nendoroid Shuukan Hajimete no Miku Hatsune! My main inspiration for the purchase was the kicking pose and face that you introduced on your blog!

The only flying kick pose I could think of was on-chan from ‘Douyoubi Dou Shiyou’, so I made a pose of Miku flying kicking him! Getting the position and angle of the Nendoroid was a little tricky – I’ve attached the photo for you!

   - Nagatsuki

016

“Hi-yaa!”

I can just picture her shouting that in my mind! ^^

I’m glad you’re enjoying her! (I feel a bit bad for on-chan, though) Shuukan Miku-san has her lower and upper arms separated as different parts, making action poses like this very easy to make!

Ever since Project mirai was released I have been playing it religiously, and my favorite from the game is ‘Piano Girl’, so I tried to make a figure of her!

I’d love to get hold of the diorama of the room from the opening. I hope it’ll be released!

   - Tono

015

“I am a Piano Girl~♪”

She is so cute!!! I also love the outfit from the piano girl song, so it is great to see it in Nendoroid size! The scenery and little piano also help recreate the atmosphere perfectly! I can understand why you want a diorama by looking at this picture!!

I’m yet another blog reader who has always dreamed about becoming a sculptor and working at Good Smile Company.  Even if I can’t become a professional, I at least want to play around with sculpting as a hobby. If I keep at it, maybe one day my dream will come true! I’ll keep trying as best I can!

As proof of my determination, I’ve attached a photo of some sculpting that I started doing yesterday. I’m trying to make a Nendoroid Saber Lion Petite Ver.! I had quite a bit of trouble with the the neck and hair, and the paint kept peeling off… but I kept at it as best I could! I’ll do my best to beat all the other blog readers that send in similar photos! 😛

Very nice! You’re getting it!!

That is very, very cute! You’ve even for the rounded stomach of Saber Lion coming out nicely!! It’s always harder to keep doing something than it is just to start something, but I’m certain you will be able to keep at it and reach your dream! Everybody has to start somewhere!!

I look forward to the complete product!!  (・∀・)ノ *・゜゚・*:.。.:*・゜゚・*:.。.:*・゜

At the Good Smile Booth at Summer WonFes 2011 there was a board about Good Smile Company Shanghai that featured an illustration of Princess Knight Miku. She was so cute that I had to try and make a Nendoroid version of her for myself – she is finished now, so I thought I’d send you a photo.

   - NaHN/Monban

027

Thank you!!

I’m sure the Shangai staff will also be very happy to see this! As a scale figure she is sure to take up a large amount of space, but even as a Nendoroid that seems true. The colors you have chosen are also spectacular! I kind of hope to see this turned into a product! 😛

That brings this Kuroyagi-san’s Letter Corner to an end!

I read through every single one of them, and as always, I’m always looking for more mail from readers!

– Good Smile Shanghai Diary #6 –

Nihao everyone! It’s Suzuki from Good Smile Shanghai.

To tell the truth, I can’t speak Chinese myself. Well at least, I can only speak just enough to get by here in China, and I really want to improve my Chinese so that I can better communicate with customers at events!

So I’m studying each and everyday!

002

However, there are obviously lots of words that are commonly used in the figure industry that you’ll never find in a textbook like this. Today I’ll be taking a look at some of these words for everyone, as it’ll be of use to my studies as well!

・动漫 (Dòngmàn) -> A general term for things like anime and manga.
This word takes the start of the word for anime which is ‘dònghuà’ and the start of the word for manga which is ‘mànhuà’ and puts them together to form a more general term, ‘dòngmàn’.

・手办 (Shǒubàn) -> Figure
If you translate this directly, it means something like ‘Handle with your hands’. It was originally a term used mostly for garage kits, but has come to mean all figures now.

These are definitely two words that I’ve had to use a lot recently! But there are many more interesting words which I may introduce in the future!

Anyway, míngtiān jiàn! (See you tomorrow!).

Repeat after me! “Dongman”, “Shouban”!!
Hopefully I’ll be able to remember these as well now!! (`・ω・´)

Anyway, that’s all for today!
I hope to see you all again tomorrow!! (・∀・)ノ゛

Kuroyagi-san’s Letter Corner!

A quick rather sudden announcement, but I’ll be heading to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia this week! I’ll be watching over a booth at an event that Good Smile will be running.

I’ll sure I’ll be taking a few prototypes which I’ll have to put together at the event… without breaking them… and without a sculptor to fix them when they break means this becomes a very important task!! 😛

Alright, let’s get started!! (・∀・)ノ

Thanks for all the hard work you do! My name is Sanpachi and this is my very first mail to you.

Did you manage to see the recent solar eclipse? I manged to get a photo of Octo-Luka together tith the solar eclipse! I thought it looked wonderful, so I decided to send it through!

Thanks for making Nendo Petite Octo-Luka!

   - Sanpachi

Sanpachi? Octo-Luka’s creator!?

What an absolutely stunning photo! I love it when anyone loves our figures, but when the creator himself praises a figure then I really feel proud! Thank you!

A beautiful picture!!

The water-like surface she is lying on with the high contrast gives a very mysterious effect!! You sent in a number of photos that were all really stunning, but in the end I had to settle on one so it had to be this one.

I’m a fellow girl who has recently dived into the world of Nendoroids!
Miku was feeling all alone, so Nagato came to keep her company and they had a little party!

When I was young I used to play with Licca-chan dolls all the time, it seems it developed into this now! I love playing with all the little extra parts and collecting small props for them!

   - Muumofu

002

I wish I was there with them!!

The picture really brings across a feeling of fun and enjoyment! I also love collecting small props like these for Nendoroids! I think it’s one of the funnest things you can do with them! They really help build up an atmosphere for the Nendoroids to live in!

Just recently Nendoroid Yune found her way to my home. The Japanese clothes look so lovely on her!

Of course, we have already seen Yune in her kimono from your review on the blog, so I decided to switch characters but keep the kimono for my photo. I hope you enjoy it.

   - free-p

008

That sideways glance is so sexy!!

The Cherry Blossom specials that were on the blog not too long ago featured a lot of Nendoroids wearing Yune’s kimono It doesn’t matter if it’s a real person or a figure – a kimono is always a lovely sight! (*゚∀゚)=3

I really loved this picture I took, so I decided to send it through to you. ♪

As an apology for not taking a cherry blossom photo with Kud, I decided to take a photo with a Kamakura special, Iwata Coffee Pancakes!
I’m not entirely certain if she is happy or worried though. ^^;

   - Tia

011

She looks super happy to me!

The pancakes from Iwata Coffee have always looked so incredible, I’ve always wanted to try them! How could Kud not be exited with some of those huge pancakes right beside her!! Delicious food combined with adorable figures makes for a wonderful photo!!

Congratulations on your 10th Anniversary! The very first Good Smile Figure I ever bought was Miina Miyafuji from Please
Twins.

Ever since then I have been buying countless GSC figures, with mt best series definitely being the Nendoroid series. I hope you will continue to bring more and more wonderful figures to us! I’ve included a photo of my complete Nendoroid collection, they take up two display cases by themselves!

   - YASU

013

A complete Nendoroid collection?!

I can even see the Giant Neko-Arc and Giant Neko-Arc Chaos!! ((( ;゚Д゚))))

I think you might even have a more complete set of Nendoroids than the GSC storehouse has!! Thank you so much for loving the Nendoroid series so much, and I hope you continue to enjoy collecting them in the future!

I wrote ‘GSC Udon’ on the bowl with a permanent marker! I love reading your blog every weekday!! (`・ω・´)

P.S : Rice and anko go well together!

   - Anonymous

014

I can’t imagine they go very well together. ^^;

Although I guess you do get treats like ohagi!

But anyway, I love the GSC Udon rice-bowl! I thought it was a decal at first – you must be very skilled with a permanent marker. 😛

Nice to meet you Mikatan! I love reading your blog!

There were a load of Forsythia flowering all about, so I decided to take a picture of them together with Ren! He looks a little embarrassed. ^^

   - Anonymous

018

What an angelic smile!

The wet hair and the embarrassed expression really make for an adorable picture! Plus the Japanese word for Forsythia is ‘Rengyuu’, which suits ‘Ren’ perfectly – even the colors match up nicely!

I’m so glad that Nendoroid Yukimura Sanada was released!
I also tried the new stand for Masamune Date and it is great! It’s so much easier to pose him for photos now! Thanks!!

Ever since Masamune was announced, I’ve been waiting and waiting for more from the series, but I couldn’t wait any longer so I decided to make my own Sasuke Sarutobi! I’ve ended up with 6 customized Nendoroids now!

   - Mayu

017

I can really feel the love!!

Did you remodel the body off a different body? It looks completely different to any body I’ve seen before!! I’m really interested in knowing what you used to make them! (`・ω・´)

The other day I went down to Sendai together with a cheerful Masamune Date. One year ago it was covered in a wave of depression, but now the station is almost completely back to normal. The further you head from the central part of the city, the more you can still find the remains of the earthquake.

I think it is really wonderful that you put together the Cheerful JAPAN! project amongst all the trouble to help out those in need. The Cheerful JAPAN project may have come to an end now, but I’m sure you’ll still continue to support those who need it in the future!

   - Chiyo

006

Everyone should feel better with Masmune cheering them on!

It’s been over a year since the disaster, and there are still lots of things that need to be fixed up. The Cheerful JAPAN! project has indeed come to an end, but we still intend to continue to help relief efforts in any way possible in the future.

I love reading your blog each and every weekday!
For about a year now, I’ve been in love with Good Smile Company.

Before then, I just thought Nendoroids were a cute brand, and after seeing Azunyan I’d grab her just because she looked cute.

Then, the disaster hit Japan….

My home was in Sendai, but luckily my family were all safe after the disaster. My brother-in-law’s car was washed away by the tsunami, but at least it was just his car. Our home was partially destroyed, but fortunately it was still alright to live in. I was away from my family at the time having just transferred, and was unable to contact anyone for some time – and hearing some of the stories simply made me more and more worried.

Soon after however I was able to get in contact with them, and found they were all safe and sound. It was then that I saw the ‘Cheerful JAPAN!’ project on Mikatan Blog.

I thought it was a wonderful idea and thought I’d participate, when I came across a bit of information that really pulled at my heart, it read: “Those in the disaster area who may need to change addresses are welcome to contact us at a later stage to organize delivery.”. I couldn’t believe how wonderful the project was already, but even so you were willing to go out of your way to address those that were in the affected areas.  It was at that point, holding on to those feelings that I really come to love Good Smile Company.

Thank you for your continued great work even through times of trouble!

To whoever came up with the idea for the Cheerful JAPAN! project, to everyone who went along with the idea, to everyone who agreed to run the project and to the person who thought to think of those who were having a hard time in the disaster areas  – Good Smile Company is a company made up of such a wonderful group of people that continue to work their best and help out others in the face of disaster. I’ve come to love everyone at Good Smile Company!

I think you have an absolutely incredible company, and I hope you’ll continue to be the wonderful company that you are!
I’ll be supporting you along the way!!  ヾ(´ω`=´∀`)ノ

   - #1 Fan (´∀`)

Congratulations on your 10th Anniversary!
Our company has only been working with you for a short three years, but I know that our relationship will only continue to grow from here on out!

Thank you for all the lovely comments!!

Good Smile has got through its first ten years thanks to all the support, and we’ll be heading into out 11th and many more thanks to all of you! Reading all these lovely comments really makes me feel like I should try harder and harder everyday to make sure not to betray anyone’s expectations!

There are no words to describe how much all the support means to us – thank you all so much! We’ll continue to strive to be the best!

I went to visit the Akiba GSC Tetsujin Cafe the other day!

I grabbed something off the Milky Holmes menu, which was so cute that I decided to to try and make it out of clay!

   - sakuha

004

It’s perfect!!

Thanks for stopping by the cafe! I’m glad to see you liked it enough to even recreate it for you figures!!

I think you should give some to Mayushii as well, she looks like she wants some.

“Farewell, until we meet again”

I made this after I saw the news that the old GSC cafe was closing. I’m sad to see it leave, but I’m sure it will be revived in another form somewhere down the line.

   - Mory

029
A big thank you to everyone who ever came to visit the original Good Smile Cafe!

As of yesterday, the cafe has officially closed for business. There were loads of customers up until the very last day, so let me make use of this blog to send out a big thank you from all the staff at the cafe to anyone who ever visited the cafe!

The cafe has had all sorts of themes since it opened, and I hope at least some of those themes were enjoyable for everyone who came to visit. The Matsudo cafe is closed, but don’t forget that the Akihabara GSC Tetsujin Cafe is still open and will have many more interesting themes and menus for you to enjoy!

If you haven’t been to the Akihabara cafe, be sure to stop by some time!

Good Smile Shanghai Diary #4

Nihao everyone! It’s Suzuki from Good Smile Shanghai.

We keep constant communication with Japan through email, phone and Skype. We have Skype meetings with video to ensure we can having face-to-face conversations – even if we are countries apart. Plus having the video is vital to check the progress of sculpting work.

Yep! Good Smile Shangai has it’s very own sculptors!
Let’s take a look at what’s going on today…

031

To the right we have a sculptor, kiking-kun. On his left is Ryuu-san, head of translations and on her left is Usagi-kun, another sculptor.

The sculpting is done in front of the web camera, with directions coming directly from Japan when needed. The meetings are done every day to keep progress of the sculpting and work slowly through the sculpting progress. They are both working very hard with their sculpting, so I think you can look forward to the work they’ll be bringing out soon!

Anyway, Xià xīngqí jiàn! (See you next week!)

kiking-kun, Ryuu-chan and Usagi-kun!

They are all such lovely people!! The first time I met them they were really kind to me, even though I was being really shy…

I hope we can meet again soon!! (´∀`)

Anyway, that’s all for today!
I hope to see you all again next week!! (・∀・)ノ゛

Kuroyagi-san’s Letter Corner! (Number 63)

June starts tomorrow!!

Meaning there are only 59 days to WonFes!!

I feel like I’ve written something like this many times before… but once again it feels like Winter WonFes was just the other day… I need to find out where all my time has disappeared to!

Anyway, today we’ll be running this corner once again! (`・ω・´)

I saw the ‘Nendoroid Complete File’ book has been announced, but I’m not sure what to expect from it. Can you take a look at it on your blog?

The Nendo album goes on sale on the 22nd June!

Details can be found on Hobby Japan or the Good Smile site, so take a look!

Nendoroid Complete File

The Nendoroid Complete File is the first ever Nendoroid official album! You’ll know everything there is to know about Nendoroids after reading it… probably!

A fully posable Saber-san is also included with the album, which I hope to do a review of around the release day! (`・ω・´)

Thank you for releasing the UtaPri Nendo Petites! The quality looks incredible as I’ve come to expect from GSC. The Princes look perfect!
    – Miotsukushi

A question regarding the UtaPri Nendo Petites – how exactly will they be sold? Will they be sold like the Madoka Nendos, or more like the Angel Beats Nendos in sets of three? I need to figure out my funding and need to know how much to put aside for them!!
    – Anonymous

So much mail about Uta☆Pri!!

I love seeing the female fans so exited about an upcoming release! I uploaded a picture of them to twitter a while back and got a ton of retweets!

As for the question, they will come in a box of 12!
(Just like the Nendo Petite Madoka Figures!)

Congratulations on making Nendo Petites from the Tales series! I’ve been waiting for them for ages, so I couldn’t be happier! I hope to see full size Nendoroids and scale figures coming up as well! 😛
    – Anonymous

Thank you so much for making Tales Series Nendoroid Petites!! I’m a huge fan of the Tales series, so I can’t wait!

My favorite character must be Reid from Tales of Eternia, will he be included in the set? Although in the end I’m fine with pretty much any characters, I’m really looking forward to seeing the line-up! I hope an announcement will be coming up soon!

The line-up…

Will be announced this week!

Tales of Festival 2012 Information: (Japanese)
http://www.goodsmile.info/post/ja/3412/

The Tales of Festival 2012 will be held this weekend, and the Nendoroid Petite series will all be lined up for everyone to see! You’ll have to wait and see which characters will be there!!

I’ve been hooked on Fate/Zero and been buying all the original novels, goods, books and figures I can find… but I can’t find the lovely Saber in blue and white armor that wasn’t seen that much in Fate/Zero. I’m hoping that you can promise me a rerelease of ~Triumphant Excalibur~!
    – Kuchi o Tsutsumanai Zasshu

Excalibur!!

She was just announced for rerelease, so you can order your’s now!! ヽ(・∀・)ノ

Ever since I saw the non-colored prototype for the Princess of the Crystal I’ve been so exited thinking about what she will look like colored, that I haven’t been able to sleep! I hope we get the chance to see the painted version soon!!
    – Anonymous

She is also now up for preorder!

Not to mention that she comes complete with all three lovely penguins! You can find the prototype review over here:
http://gscmikatan.wordpress.com/2012/05/02/nendoroid-princess-of-the-crystal/

The 1/8th scale version of the Princess of the Crystal is also on her way, and she will be announced soon! I’ll be grabbing the prototype to take a look at on the blog as well, so look forward to her!

A Nendoroid I bought some time ago seems to be becoming looser around the hips and shaking a lot. Is there some way to fix this?
    – Anonymous

I’ve always been very careful with my figures, but a little while ago I damaged one of my figures through my own carelessness. I’m afriad tha if I try to repair it myself, I’m just going to end up damaging it more.  It was quite a special figure to me, so it’s really been eating at me… It was a figure sold over a year ago from Good Smile Company, is it still possible to get a hold of replacement parts in some way?
    – Anonymous

Read through these posts relating to parts repair!

DIY Figure Repairs Part 1: Broken Joints
DIY Figure Repairs Part 2: Reinforcing Joints
DIY Figure Repairs Part 3: Scuffed Paint

Unfortuntely we can no longer supply replacement parts for figures that are over a year old… In Part 2 of the posts above, I show a way of reinforcing joints by making them thicker. Give it a go and perhaps you can repair the figure to be as good as new all by yourself!

Hello Mikatan!
I work part-time jobs every day and collect up money which I manage to get by on just fine. I’m not exactly free to spend whenever I want, but at the same time I always want to buy figures! 😛

Recently I’ve begun cutting down on my food costs. While everyone else eats the campus lunches, I bring along a small lunch for myself instead!

This is the lunch I made the other day. All my friends we’re saying things like ‘how simple’, or ‘what the heck is that’, and my parents were going on about ‘It makes it look like we don’t provide for you at all!’. Lunch was complete for me with just some rice and a tomato! What do you have for lunch, Mikatan?
    – Curry Udon

001

Make sure you’re eating properly!!

If you don’t keep a good balance of nutrients your skin will end up rough!!

I’m afraid that in order to get a few minutes of extra sleep in, I never make myself a lunch before heading to work. Most of the time I eat lunch out! Will you make me lunch sometime? (just kidding :P)

I saw that my favorite Vocaloid Character, Luka is getting the scale figure treatment. I’ve been looking forward to her ever since I saw the report on HJ, and I’m so glad with the way she has come out. I can’t wait for her to be released.

I personally love figures that make use of clear parts, so the way Luka has been made is perfect! I can’t wait!
    – Tako-Luka

I’m glad you like her! Thanks for the comments!

As expected from Max Factory, it really is a stunning figure – I really enjoyed photographing her! The gradient and sculpting of her hair is an absolute work of art! You’ll be able to grab her soon!

I recently saw Sakura Miku on your blog as well as at the GSC Cafe. She was so adorable and the colors were stunning, I couldn’t help but fall in love with her. I really wanted to take the prototype version from the cafe home with me. ^^;

Awhile a go I sent a mail asking for a standard sized Nendoroid of Sakura Miku, and I knew I could trust that Good Smile Company would release her sooner or later! I can’t wait!
    – Oyaji

Will Sakura Miku be available for purchase from overseas?
Thanks for always making more and more adorable Nendoroids!
    – Tokiko

We are currently working on optional parts for Sakura Miku!

She’ll be available for preorder shortly. The sales method that will be used to sell her is still being negotiated with Crypton, but as soon as we have a definite answer I’ll be sure to let everyone know!

I bought some K-ON! Nendoroid Petites, but it seems I picked up some bootleg versions… the eyes and area around the neck of the school uniform versions made it obvious that it was not the work of GSC. All the parts that are normally separated were all placed in a single bad, and the plastic in-between parts like the hair and skirt was nowhere to be found.

I can’t stand bootlegs! I hope this report helps in some way…
    – Cheru

Thanks for letting us know!

Thank you for including pictures as well! We upload images to the GSC website to help our customers tell the difference between bootlegs and authentic figures.

But sometimes it is difficult to tell the bootlegs from the originals… if you find a bootleg please contact the international team or myself with whatever information you can. I can’t stand it when people give GSC a bad name with poor imitations!

legal@goodsmile.jp
mikatan-b@goodsmile.jp

The other day I picked up figma Mami-san, but both of her legs were left legs! ;_; I emailed support and got a right leg part sent to me, which arrived today! My Mami is now all better~

Thank you for the quick support! I look forward to more products in the future.
    – Anonymous

Thank you for the kind words!

At the same time, apologies for causing the problem in the first place! A lot of the work done in the mass production of figures is done by hand, so there can be certain times when parts are incorrectly placed – even though we take the utmost care to try and prevent it. I’ll send you kind words through to the support team – thank you!

I just voted in the GSC 10th Anniversary Rerelease and Product Request polls. I was so glad to see a project like this in place! I’ve managed to get hold of most of the figures I’ve wanted, but there are a few older products that have been very hard to get. I hope to see more similar projects in the future!
    – Skikoku

The results of the polls can be found here!

– GSC 10th Anniversary Rerelease and Product Request Polls –
http://goodsmile10th.jp/sousenkyo/answer2.html
The following products are already up for rerelease:

Nendoroid Flandre Scarlet
Nendoroid Sakuya Izayoi
figma Sayaka Miki
figma Kyouko Sakura
Saber ~Triumphant Excalibur~

The rereleases of all of the above can be ordered now!

We are still taking a look at which other products can be put on resale based on the poll results. As soon as we’ve confirmed which are possible, we’ll let everyone know!

I really enjoyed watching the Nendoroid Sonico Time Trial! A great effort from all the sculptors that took part.
Working on something above what people normally expect brings a lot of excitement and appreciation from those who are watching.

    – Modoki Yachiyo

The Exciting 11-Hour Figure Making Trial!

It was quite a difficult project to take on, but it gave everyone a feel for how figures are sculpted! I was just as impressed with the sculptors as everyone else at the event was!! You can read up on the entire project with the following posts:

Good Smile Shanghai Diary #4
Nihao everyone! My name is Suzuki from Good Smile Shanghai.

Yesterday I briefly introduced everyone to Weibo, but just using the net to get products to people isn’t enough, so we had to establish somewhere that Chinese customers can come by to take a look at the products as well!

We are making arrangements to attend various events!
There are all sorts of events held in China all the time!

004

The image above is from an event called Comic Fantasiata which was held on the 13th May. The photo was taken just after the end of a cosplay contest. Most of the cosplayers were characters from Japanese anime!

We are currently hoping to take part at the CCG EXPO which will take place in July this year. I hope to pass on the happenings of the event with everyone once it is over!

Anyway, that’s all for today!
I hope to see you all again tomorrow!! (・∀・)ノ゛

I’m sure there were quite a few people around Japan that did just that. 😛 I’ve done it myself a number of times…. (and ended up super late for work.)

But anyway, whether you had a great holiday or you worked through the week – May is here and we need to start working as hard as ever once again!

Today we’re going to be continuing with this corner!

My very first attempt at sending a photo through to you! This year Spring was very short here in Shanghai, but I did get to see some beautiful cherry blossoms!

A couple were in full bloom at the nearby park, so I went and took some photos with Shinobu – replacing the donut with a flower! (*・ω・*)ノ

   - Shangai Nekoko

013

I hope you’re still collecting cherry blossom photos! I took a photo of my own so I thought i’d send it through. (It’s a Gift product though, not Good Smile!) I hope you enjoy it!

   - Buchalati

004

The cherry blossoms this year were so beautiful I just had to take Miku out to see them as well! It was my first attempt at photography so I wasn’t very confident, but I think it came out quite cute in the end, so I decided to send it through to you!

   - Saushingu

001

Once again I’m really enjoying your cherry blossom special! I’m sure the photos get more beautiful every year!

I went out myself and decided to let Erio play in the cherry blossoms scattering the floor! I applied a soft filter to try recreate the atmosphere around Erio as well, what do you think?

   - D_yashi

007

I came all the way from Nagoya to Tokyo to meet some Nendoroid friends! ♪ It was a load of fun, and I can’t wait to go again!

I also grabbed some pictures with Menma while I was there, she is so cute!!

   - Jyaiko

021

My Miku and I went out to see the cherry blossoms! Looks like she was practicing hidden behind the blossoms, but I found her!

   - Yukan Ryoubo

002

In the last photo corner there were so many photos of Millhi and Yune that I thought looked wonderful, so I decided to go out myself and take some photos.

What an adorable Princess she is! Both her and Harlan are a blast to play with!

   - Mahokona

006

A photo from Yasukuni Shrine! Youmu suits the cherry blossoms so well… myon!

   - Junosora

010

The cherry blossoms were amazingly beautiful around my neighborhood when I woke up this morning! I dashed out together with Gumako who found them so beautiful she even took a break from eating her favorite udon!

   - Suzu Akai

012

Hello from Berlin! I’m going to try my hand at writing this mail in Japanese! I hope that it isn’t too late to send in some cherry blossom photos!

Today I went out with my friend and boyfriend to enjoy the cherry blossoms – it was my very first time doing so! Of course I took a Nendoroid along with me! The photos are taken at Berlin Teltow in an area that I have named the ‘TV Asahi Cherry Blossom Peace Road’! I was quite surprised when I brought the Nendoroid out, as some others around also took from photos of her!

   - jiejie

003

I heard that one of my friends photos was placed up on Mikatan Blog and was really upset that he hadn’t told me that he was doing something that seemed so fun! I decided I had to take some pictures of some cherry blossoms and Miku for myself as well – I hope you enjoy them!

I knew I had to be quick otherwise the blossoms would all have fallen from the trees, so I dashed out in a slight drizzle to  grab a few photos… I wanted to take some more, but the rain started to pour down a lot harder after awhile, so I took some blossoms home with me and used them for a few more photos. I’ll be sure to send any interesting photos I take in the future though to you as well!

   - Anonymous

005

I always carry Nendoroids around with me, but this time around I decided to take Sakura with for sakura (cherry blossom) photos!

The first day I came by for photos the blossoms had only half bloomed, so I came back a few days later but then the wind was too strong for a reliable photo… they all came out blurry! So I came back once again a few days later and finally got a photo! I went through quite a lot to get it in the end…

   - DANDE☆Lion

017

This year the fully blooming blossoms were all knocked off their branches my the heavy rain that came around at the same time… I decided that photos would be impossible for this year and gave up. But a few days later I found a cherry blossom tree that still had some beautiful blossoms, so I managed to grab some photos after all!

Cherry blossoms are linked with fun times and drinking, and when it comes to drinking who is better than Suika! ^^ Here she is climbing up a tree looking rather drunk… perhaps not the safest place for her to be! Later on I looked up and found the blossoms here are in fact called bridegrooms, but Wikipedia said they were a type of cherry blossom, so I hope they will do!

   - Kuraki

008

I wasn’t sure if I’d make it in time for part two of the cherry blossom special, but here is my entry anyway!

A photo taken at my neighborhood park together with Azunyan in her kimono!

   - Yomogi

009

I saw the latest Kuroyaki Letter Corner with all the beautiful cherry blossoms, but they still had not bloomed near me… but now they finally have! … and then it started raining… (´・ω・`)

But even through the drizzle, I decided to take some photos! This year’s cherry blossoms are beautiful!

  - KUREHA

011

I’m fairly certain Ohana would continue working throughout the Spring without ever taking some time to enjoy the cherry blossoms… but she would definitely be thinking she wants to go see them!

That was the scene I was trying to create with this photo! ^^

   - Magane Kirari

014

Sorry it’s late! Here is my cherry blossom photo for this year! I didn’t get to take this picture last year, but I had to do it this year! A photo of my Haru-chan and the cherry blossoms in my local park!

   - Tsukintokkai Nanpyon

015

I’ve been looking forward to the cherry blossoms all year, so I had to send one of my own through as well – I headed out with my camera and Precia to get some photos! Last year I used the cherry blossoms as a background, but this time I decided to take a photo with the blossoms up nice and close, so I went out with a stepladder to get nice and close!

In the end I think it was more about me taking photos of Priecia than it was me taking photos of the cherry blossoms and a figure. I guess this is what they call love!

   - Spin

016

I live close by to an area that is quite famous for it’s cherry blossoms, so I had to go out and take some photos!

The photo shows off Haru-chan creating the very first cherry blossoms blooms of the season! I didn’t get to take a photo last year, so it feels like I’ve been waiting forever to take this picture!

   - Ander B

018

From the 15th to the 19th April, I went on a trip to Shirakawagou, Yuwaku hot-springs, Kenroku Gardens and the Noto Peninsula, I took some shoddy photos along the way, so I thought I’d send them through for you to enjoy. The cherry blossoms around Shirakawagou and Yuwaku were not really blooming yet, but at the Kenroku Gardens and Noto Peninsula they were pretty much in full bloom and incredibly beautiful! I didn’t have the courage to bring my Nendoroids out in public as a tourist to the area, so I had to do it quietly when nobody else was around. ^^

I enjoyed looking through everyone else’s beautiful photos and learned a lot from them, and I’ll be sure to work on my pictures while enjoying my trips in the future!

   - Mokke

019

In the Letter Corner on the 19th April you mentioned that ‘The bigger the images, the better!’, but what size and filesize is that exactly? Also, I zipped up multiple images together this time around, but I’m sure it’s best to not send too many through at once… I tried to shrink them down a bit myself, but what would be ideal when sending images through to you? I apologize if I sent something incorrectly through to you!

Mikatan:
Simply put, any image with a width larger than 515px is perfect, and you are welcome to send multiple pictures or just one!
If the image is below 3MB then I am certain it will reach me without any problems!

That said, you’re sending your stunning pictures through to the blog, so I’m never going to be picky! There are no rules at all! (Besides photos that make the figures or series look bad in some way, or go against public order in some way.) If you send picture through to me, I’ll always take a look at them with great excitement, so please send them through – whether they are from PC or cellphone, I’ll always be happy to see them!

Last year I went out in the afternoon with Kiririn to see the cherry blossoms, but this year I decided to go out for some nighttime viewing with Miku! Nightime photography is much harder than I expected…

I had a little photo session in my local park with Menma!

It was my first attempt at outdoor figure photography and it was much harder than I expected, but to remember my attempt I got a nice picture of a confident looking Menma! The picture was taken on my cellphone, so I apologize for the quality – I also hope it did attach correctly…. ;_;

While I was being worked to death the cherry blossoms around my house had already bloomed and fallen to the ground. After the work I decided to go to Ikomayama and luckily the blossoms there were still blooming beautifully!

I wanted to have a little drinking party under the blossoms with MEIKO, but I was driving so I had to leave the drinking to her. I hope I can drink along with her next year!

That brings this Kuroyagi-san’s Letter Corner to an end! I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to put in all the photos that were sent to me!

Kuroyagi-san’s Letter Corner: Cherry Blossom Special #1! (Number 61)

The cherry blossom season is upon us!

Matsudo finally feels like Spring!

Last year at around this time Japan was dealing with one of it’s biggest trials ever. There are still scars from the disaster, but I’m glad that this year everyone can enjoy the cherry blossom season without all the troubles of last year.

Once again I will be running this special corner of Kuroyagi-san’s letter corner where we enjoy the combination of lovely figures and beautiful cherry blossoms –
I hope the photos will bring a smile to your face like they did to mine!

Here is my contribution to the cherry blossom photos for this year!
Before I got into Nendoroids, I used to see the cherry blossoms and think they were really pretty, but never anything more than that.

Now that I have Nendoroids, I can’t resist wandering around outside with them and taking photos together with the cherry blossoms! I think Nendoroids are good for my health! ^^

  - Mahokona

004

Hello from atop a cherry blossom tree! This Lat-type Miku jumped out from behind the tree bursting out in song for me! ^p^

Miku is such an Angel! or more like…. a fairy of the forest to me! Just look at the lovely blossom in her hair, it’s so cute!

   - Ringo

001

I took a cherry blossom photo with a Nendoroid to send through to this year’s collection!

I’ve always loved the illustrations of Shiki wearing her kimono with a blade as she walks through the cherry blossoms… so I wanted to recreate that illustration in Nendoroid form! While I was taking the photo, an old lady came by and asked me what I was taking pictures of… it was rather difficult to explain the world of Nendoroids to her. ^^;

   - Kyuu

013

The cherry blossoms were blooming in Shukugawa, the area used as a stage for the Haruhi series. I headed out one morning with Nagato to take a picture of her reading her book in the park. I think it brings out the atmosphere very nicely.

   - Tanupon

026

The flower included with the Menma Nendoroid looked kind of like a cherry blossom, so I had her hold the flower surrounded by cherry blossoms and took a photo.

The frills on her dress make her look like a little flower as well, so the whole picture looks so cute together. ^^

   - Annon

014

One of the big cherry blossom trees in my local park was flowering and it looked absolutely stunning, so I went out with my Append Miku for some outdoor photos! I can’t wait to go out with Sakura Miku for some similar photos next year!

   - Tamaki

003

Spring means cherry blossoms, cherry blossoms means kimonos, and kimonos means beautiful girls, so this beautiful girl grabbed a kimono for some photos with the cherry blossoms! I think the kimono really suits Luka!

I was wandering about Sumida Park looking at the SkyTree and cherry blossoms with by beloved KAITO! He had such a lovely smile that I just had to take a picture, and I think it came out quite nicely! My KAITO is just too cute…

I went out with my family to enjoy the cherry blossoms this afternoon.
I looked up at one point and I saw a Spring Fairy looking down at me and smiling among the blossoms!

As soon as the cherry blossoms start bloomed I always have to take a Nendoroid out for a walk to see them. This year I decided to take the Princess out with me to enjoy the blossoms – the blossoms seemed just as happy to hear Millhi’s voice!

“Cinque! Can you hear my song?”… I hope her song rides along a storm of cherry blossoms to everyone who wants to hear it!

I’m sending through some photos I took near my house the other day. The pink was really beautiful, and it really compliments the pink colors of Princess Millhi!

I went down to the a local riverside with Madochii and Homuhomu for some photos. I had quite some trouble finding a good place to take pictures with Nendoroids though… I was glad to get a picture with these two together in the end! They also look very happy to be surrounded by the cherry blossoms!

Hello, Mikatan! I love reading your blog! ♪ I wan never much of a figure lover, but I recently decided to pick up some figma figuers and took some photos (on my cellphone…) It was my first ever attempt, so it’s a bit amateurish, but it was great fun for me! I have no experience taking photos, so I hope they’re not too bad!

As you can see, I tried to build a figma arcade!

   - DAC

001
002

003

I can’t believe how amazing this is!

There was even a layout map for the arcade included in the files that were sent to me! Everything is made so carefully, and the characters all seem to be having such a good time! It makes me wish I could jump into the arcade and join them all! I’m sure it must have been a lot of work to leave so much space available for photos as well… and it probably took ages to get all the figmas into their poses as well. Not to mention the poses are very well done!! (Their positioning as well!)

Thank you so much for sending this through, I really enjoyed it! As a side note I also really love the way Kaiji seems to fit in so well! 😛

I was looking at the upcoming 3DS Project Mirai game, and Miku and the others looked so cute that I had to try and pose my own Nendoroids in the same way! My favorite song in the tracklist for the game is ‘Sing & Smile’, so I decided to pose my Nendoroids just as they looked in the game. I hope you enjoy it!

   - free-p

004

Another amazing work of art!!

When I first saw the comparison I got goosebumps! It’s a perfect recreation with real Nendoroids! I feel like I’m going to break down in tears! 😛

It’s so lovely to see how much people love the Nendoroids! I know that Miku and the others love it as well!

“You! You were watching!”
I finally got my hands on figma Sakuya, I was so happy I had to take a photo!

   - Kani Taichou

005

It’s perfect!!

The way her face is hidden gives it such a powerful effect! How did you take this photo? It’s amazing!!

Today I went down to my local shop and saw Nendoroid Petite Madoka on sale. I bought a couple and luckily managed to get both Madoka and Homuhomu, so I took some photos! I much prefer buying singles and getting the rush of getting your favorite characters instead of just buying a complete box…

   - Luka

So cute!! … I actually said that out loud to the monitor… 😛

HomuHomu’s expression is perfect for the way she is staring at Madoka like that! Wondering what character you’re going to get is one of the best things about Nendoroid Petites in my opinion! I also get super exited while I’m opening the box and wondering who is going to be inside!!

I grabbed my Nendoroid Taiga Aisaka and just had to recreate the ‘Palmtop Tiger’! Unfortunately that meant I had to take the photo with one hand, which was shaking so it didn’t come out very nicely ^^; Thanks so much for turning one of my favorite characters into a Nendoroid!

The Palmtop Tiger!! (*゚∀゚)=3

The way the sunlight is beaming onto the photo is very nice! I think it’s a lovely picture! Plus… I love the way she is looking up at you like that, it makes we want to hold her myself!

I can happily say that today, although a bit late, my Rin & Len Cheerful Ver. has arrived! I decided to play with them and really enjoyed seeing how much work went into the smaller details that you normally can’t see, like the ears! The two of them are now happily displayed on my desk together! I’ll take good care of them。

They both look so happy!

There were many, many resale requests for Rin & Len, so I’m glad we were able to release them again and even include some lovely ‘cheerful’ extras! They look so carefree and exited… it really warms your heart just to look at them, doesn’t it!

I tried editing a photo for the very first time… but just a small edit! It’s a picture of the two Sabers.

Amazing! I’m jealous!

It’s a more solid version of Saber Alter with a feint image of the normal Saber standing behind her. A nice picture that compares the light to the dark! I also love the way that Alter is holding a sword, while the normal Saber is instead reaching out to us! I’m jealous that you can take such nice photos, let alone still edit them to make lovely effects like this!

Miku is becoming a housekeeper! I hope she cleans the house up for me…
She seems happy to help out right from the start… I just hope she doesn’t look out the window and see how messy the real room is! 😛

Sylvanian Families playsets!

At least… I think it is a Sylvanian Families playset… I’m sorry if I’m wrong. 😛 I wish I had a Miku housekeeper to keep my house clean as well! She can also make some delicious food for me… and when she sees the house is messy she can get all angry and shout at me! (escape from reality :P)

Hi Mika-tan, this is the first time ever I had sent an email to you.
I had just received my Black Rock Shooter Beast yesterday and really like it. This is also the first figma that I had to pay a crazy amount of shipping fee 😮 Here is a picture that I took her with my Scale PVC Black Rock Shooter Animation ver.

BRSB vs. BRS ! !

I’ve been getting lots of pictures from people overseas, and lots of them make great use of lighting and send in lovely photos like this one! The way the light is shining on BRSB’s blade so that you can just make it out is wonderful!!

Christmas has come along, so I thought I’d send in a seasonal photo! HomuHomu and Madoka are together this Christmas, so there is nothing to worry about! I also have to say that I love the way this year’s Snow Miku looks! I don’t any Miku figures at the moment, so I’ll be sure to grab that one!

Sorry for missing this at Christmas time!

I received so many Christmas and New Year’s photos, but I just never get around to putting them up at the appropriate time… sorry! But this one was so cute that I had to put it up, even if it was late! (`・ω・´)ゞ It gives off a very nice Christmas feeling, and makes me feel all warm inside when I look at it!

The attached image is to wish you a Merry Christmas! I hope you’ll take a look. The sword at his hips is pointing to one of the most important parts of Christmas! (´∀`)

I really love playing around with Nendoroids at the moment! It’s so much fun! >< I’m always looking forward to seeing what Nendoroids are coming up next, so good luck with all your work!

What an adorable idea!!!

It’s nice to see a mix of Christmas along with the very Japanese taste of Sengoku Basara! The sparkling effects also create a lovely atmosphere!

I read your blog pretty much every day! Thanks so much for writing so often! I’m also a girl that loves figures of cute girls, and I’m glad to know there is someone else who shares my happiness! I live in Sapporo, the Miku loving city, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to go any buy a Snow Miku at the event this year! …(ノД`)

I was frustrated, so I decided to make a huffed Snow Miku Chocolate! I’ll be watching the WonHobby Live while munching on this chocolate!

The expression is so perfect!

You can see all the fine little lines like around her eyes! Such small details!! On a figure, the expressions are definitely the hardest part to work with… I’m really impressed to see it done so well with chocolate!! If you ever make one again, please send it my way again!

I got a load of mail from female fans this time around. I’m sure there are a lot of people that wonder if they really ARE all girls, but I’m always very pleasantly surprised by the number of girls that come to chat with me at events! Plus most of them are really pretty! (Seriously!)

I went to the Sapporo Snow Festival the other day, and decided I had to send this photo I took while at the event. I hope you enjoy it!

Snow Miku is so adorable!!

You’d normally expect photos in the snow to be filled with nothing buy a white or blue color, but the orange coming from the lamp contrasts so nicely! It’s beautiful! I wish I could escort Snow Miku through the snow myself…

I’ve noticed that Ririchiyo from Inu x Boku SS is really popular at the moment, so I decided to make my own Nendoroid Petite of her! She really looks cute no matter what size she is!

I’m looking forward to all of GSC’s upcoming products!

   - Jina Hong

016

She is cute no matter what size!

It looks like you made her right from scratch as well! :O What would happen if you showed this figure to Riricho-sama?

As soon as I heard that a Gumako Nendoroid was going to be released, I decided this had to be done! The image I had of her only showed the left side, so I had to imagine the other sides for myself… The head is from Gumako, the body, hips and arms are from BGS and the legs are from Miku.

And there you have it, a Metal-Powered Gumako Nendoroid! ^^ I painted the eyes, but that part was very difficult…

   - Monban

013

Metal Powered Gumako!!

She even has the striped panties!!!

This was the character drawn by huke for GSC’s 10th anniversary! She looks really great as a Nendoroid… maybe we should make an official one… ^^

That brings this Kuroyagi-san’s Letter Corner to an end!
