Today I’ll be taking a look at…

Hatsune Miku: Symphony 2019 Ver.

Sculptor: SAKAKI Workshops　Paintwork: Turunoyakata

From “Character Vocal Series 01: Hatsune Miku” comes a scale figure of Hatsune Miku based off of the main visual from the full orchestra concert “Hatsune Miku Symphony 2019”.

Her pure and delicate dress has been faithfully recreated based on the original illustration by Rella. Her flowing twintails and fluttering skirt have been recreated with the utmost care. Her outfit and hair have been painted with a pearl finish for an elegant appearance. Be sure to add her to your collection!

Listen closely with your heart.

Hatsune Miku has been recreated in 1/8th scale in her outfit from the Hatsune Miku Symphony 2019 main visual!

The figure is based on a special illustration drawn by the outfit designer and Hatsune Miku Symphony 2019 main visual artist Rella, specifically for the making of this figure!

Thank you to Rella for supervising the whole process of making the figure, from the sculpting to the paintwork!

Miku’s soft smile alone conveys the atmosphere of the full orchestra concert!

Look at her lightly fluttering twintails and skirt…

▲They look just as great from the back!

While the figure shows her in a simple standing pose, you can see small hints of motion in every part!

It’s really like a moment captured in time! ( ・ㅂ・)و̑

Miku’s twintails have been recreated with translucent parts to faithfully capture their appearance in Rella’s illustration!

▲Pearl paintwork has also been utilized to give her twintails and extra dazzling appearance!

Her adorable pleated dress has been carefully recreated down to every detail. (o´v`o)ﾉ

▲Look at the clear lines of her skirt pleats!

Don’t miss the ribbon on her back too!

In addition to the ribbon her chest, you can see a matching ribbon in her hair and a much larger ribbon on her back.

Also, notice that the black part of her outfit is painted with pearl paint as well!

Today I’ll be taking a look at…

Akane Shinjo ~ A wish come true~

From the anime series “SSSS.GRIDMAN” comes a scale figure of Akane Shinjo. The figure is based on an illustration by Masaru Sakamoto, character designer for SSSS.GRIDMAN, and has been created under complete supervision of TSUBURAYA PRODUCTIONS and TRIGGER. Various aspects of Akane’s character and the world of SSSS.GRIDMAN have been incorporated into one high-quality figure. Be sure to add her to your collection!

I came to save you from boredom——

From SSSS.GRIDMAN Character Designer Masaru Sakamoto’s original illustration comes a figure of Akane Shinjo!

The painted prototype was revealed last weekend at TSUBURAYA CONVENTION 2019!

By the way, this figure looks great lined up with Rikka Takarada ~I believe in future~ based on an illustration of Rikka by SSSS.GRIDMAN Director Akira Amemiya! ( ⸝⸝•ᴗ•⸝⸝ )੭⁾⁾

▲These figures are filled with various important items from the series beautifully floating in space!

Let’s take a closer look at Akane Shinjo ~A wish come true~ ( *ˊᵕˋ )

Her upward-facing gaze and dynamic pose have been carefully recreated!

Look at all of the surrounding items too!

▲This figure features Akane’s bare legs!

Anti’s scarf, the cable of Akane’s headphones, all of the items weaving around the figure make for a visually appealing piece full of detail.

Even things like the chewn straw of her tomato juice box have been recreated!

Her utility knife from that scene too…

The various tools she used to create her Kaiju have been carefully recreated. ((｀・∀・´))

At the front by her knees, her Mecha Ghoulghilas has been included as well!

Compared to her soft-looking skin, the sharp-looking objects from the Computer World contrast perfectly.

Don’t miss the pass case she received from Rikka and her cracked glasses!

The figure features plenty of detail from top to bottom, so be sure to take a look when you take her home!

Nendoroid Lyrule (High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even In Another World)

Today I’ll be taking a look at…

Nendoroid Lyrule

From the anime series “High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even In Another World” comes a Nendoroid of the elf girl Lyrule! She comes with three face plates including her standard expression, her blushing expression and her crying expression. Optional parts include the fascinating condiment that swept the world, mayonnaise, as well as her magic wand. Be sure to add her to your collection!

From “High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even In Another World” comes a Nendoroid of the Elm Village resident and main heroine of the series, Lyrule!

Tsukasa’s homemade mayonnaise, her full braided hair, flowing skirt, and characteristic elf ears have all been carefully recreated in Nendoroid size!

Today I’ll be taking a look at…

Nendoroid Senku Ishigami

From the anime series “Dr. STONE” comes a Nendoroid of the scientist with superhuman intelligence and a wealth of knowledge, Senku Ishigami! He comes with three face plates including his standard expression, his serious expression for doing experiments and his mischievous laughing expression.

He comes with a clay jar of stone formula, a glass bottle of medicine and a stick of cotton candy as optional parts. Enjoy recreating Senku’s journey to rebuild civilization with science in Nendoroid form! Be ten billion percent sure to add him to your collection!

“This is exhilarating!”

From the anime series “DR. STONE” comes a Nendoroid of Senku Ishigami!

His unique outfit with the formula “E=mc2 ” written on it and his characteristic hairstyle have been recreated!

The pouches at his waist, his shoes, everything has been carefully recreated in Nendoroid form!

His arms are also jointed, allowing you to recreate all kinds of poses from the series! ٩( ᐛ )( ᐖ )۶

Of course, don’t miss the detailed gradation of his hair!

Nendoroid Shinji Ikari (Rebuild of Evangelion)

Today I’ll be taking a look at…

Nendoroid Shinji Ikari

From the popular animated film series “Rebuild of Evangelion” comes a Nendoroid of the Third Child, Shinji Ikari. He comes with three face plates including a standard expression, a lethargic expression and a blushing expression.

He comes with his bag, backpack and portable music player as optional parts in order to recreate various scenes from his everyday life. A base made to look like stone rubble and special lower half parts to pose him sitting are also included. He can be combined with the upcoming Nendoroid Kaworu Nagisa to create a special display of the two of them. Be sure to add him to your collection!

The Third Child

 

From the “Rebuild of Evangelion” movie series comes a Nendoroid of the EVA pilot and protagonist, Shinji Ikari!

His Tokyo-3 First Municipal Junior High School uniform, shoes and belt have all been perfectly recreated in Nendoroid size!

For optional parts, he comes with his backpack and his bag. Looking at that bag makes me remember the scene from when he moved in with Misato Katsuragi! ( ੭ ･ᴗ･ )੭

In addition to his standard expression face plate, a face plate of his memorable lethargic expression is also included!

This is quite a complicated expression. His eyes give off the impression that he’s completely shut down his emotions and closed off his heart.

By the way, here’s a full look at the portable music player part. It’s quite easy to put on and take off!

▲The earphones stay attached by sliding the earpiece parts over his ears!

As for his third expression…!

It’s his blushing expression!

Those faintly pink cheeks are so cute!

Finally, let’s look at one more part!

Yep! A stone rubble base and special lower half parts to display him sitting are included!

You can see the base above is a triangular piece of stone rubble, but combine with the upcoming Nendoroid Kaworu Nagisa and…

Pose the two of them like this!

DIY Paper Craft Effects for “My Hero Academia” Nendoroids (Good Smile Lab)

Hello! My name is Mino (@gsc_mino), and I work in the Manufacturing Department at Good Smile Company!

How do you decorate your figures at home? Have you ever thought to yourself, “I wonder if there’s something I can make myself to make my display even cooler…”

I’ve thought about this a lot before, and so today…

Let’s try making some shadow box style paper craft effects!

A lot of you are probably thinking, “Huh? Shadow box?” right now, so let me explain!

Most of you are probably familiar with Shadow boxes, displays that often utilize layers of paper in order to create an effect of depth. The 3D aspect is what makes them a bit different from simple paper cutting.

So for this article, let’s try making some original paper craft effects with depth to pair with figures!

I don’t think this has been attempted before, so we’ll see how it goes!

By the way, we’ll be pairing our effects today with these three “My Hero Academia” Nendoroids!

 

Nendoroid Izuku Midoriya: Hero’s Edition

From the popular anime series “My Hero Academia” comes a Nendoroid action figure of one of the main character Deku’s rivals, Shoto Todoroki! He comes with three interchangeable face plates including his calm and composed standard expression, his combat expression for when he’s fighting with all he’s got and his smiling expression from when he began to accept the left side of his Quirk.

His hero costume has been faithfully recreated in Nendoroid size. He comes with fire and ice effect parts along with ice floor effect parts to recreate his ‘Half-Cold Half-Hot’ Quirk. A “CRAASH” text plate is also included to create action-filled poses!

Be sure to add him to your collection along with Nendoroid Izuku Midoriya: Hero’s Edition (Rerelease) and Nendoroid Katsuki Bakugo: Hero’s Edition (Rerelease) also available for preroder, and enjoy recreating your favorite scenes from “My Hero Academia”!

 

Now, let’s make some cool displays to enhance these Nendoroids even more!

Here’s what I’ll be using!

  • Illustrations (I drafted up some effects beforehand!)
  • Construction Paper (The more colors, the better!)
  • Cardstock Paper (Thicker than normal paper. We’ll use cardstock as a spacer to create a 3D illusion for the effects.)
  • Metal wire (I use 1mm diameter wire. You can use paper clips for this!)
  • Wire cutters (This is for cutting the metal wire to the size we need.)
  • Tweezers
  • Utility Knife/Precision Knife
  • Glue
  • Tape

1. Draw your effect!

The original illustration is probably the most important part of the process!

When drawing your effect, be sure to reference your Nendoroid to make the effect the correct size! I’d recommend drawing a Nendoroid-sized oval on your paper first for reference.

Here’s what I came up with for Deku!

Shockwave effects from using “One For All”!

Next, Bakugo!

Of course, the effect I drew for Bakugo is an explosion!

Finally, here’s what I came up with for Todoroki!

Since it’s Todoroki, I drew fire and ice effects!

I only realized afterward, but I might have made these effects a little too complex to cut…

Simpler designs are easier to cut out, so keep that in mind when making your effects!

2. Using your illustrations as a reference, cut out different parts of the effect from your construction paper.

The ice effect ended up being a little too complicated for me, so I added color in to make it a little easier.

 

Ah. This design is still pretty confusing.

I don’t think I’ll be able to cut out every color from this one, so I’ll simplify it as I go!

▲Tape helps keep the reference illustration in place.

You’ll probably want to make multiple copies of your reference illustration, as you’ll be cutting out different parts on different construction paper sheets!

Cutting out different parts on different colored paper will allow you to layer them later and create the shadow-box-like 3D effect.

*Please be very careful when cutting with a utility knife/precision knife so as not to cut yourself!

3. Layer the construction paper to create the 3D effect.

Apply glue to very small pieces of cardstock to make your spacers. These are what make the effect appear 3D!

You can even stack multiple spacers to create a more exaggerated 3D look if necessary.

▲Tweezers make this process a lot easier!

▲Occasionally use two spacers stacked on each other for an even more impressive 3D look!

4. Attach wire to the back. (For these effects, just Bakugo and Todoroki’s effects need wire stands!)

Attaching wire to the back of the effects will allow them to stand up on their own!

There’s no set way to do this, just go by feel!

And now, for the complete effects!

These are perfect!!!

It takes some time from the original drawing until they’re done, but it’s totally worth it!

Let’s try displaying them with the Nendoroids!

First, here’s Deku!

▲Based on One For All! The lighting parts were challenging to get right, but it looks great!

I used tape to attach these effects to the Nendoroid.

▲I used masking tape to stick this one to the figure!

▲For the second effect, I attached it to some support arms. (I then deleted the supports arms in post-production for the photo.)

Now let’s see Bakugo’s effect!

Today I’ll be taking a look at…

Rikka Takarada ~I believe in future~

From the anime series “SSSS.GRIDMAN” comes a scale figure of Rikka Takarada. The figure is based on an illustration by Akira Amemiya, the director of SSSS.GRIDMAN, and has been created under complete supervision of TSUBURAYA PRODUCTIONS and TRIGGER. Various aspects of Rikka’s character and the world of SSSS.GRIDMAN have been incorporated into one high-quality figure. Be sure to add her to your collection!

From SSSS.GRIDMAN comes a scale figure of Rikka Takarada!

This figure is based on an illustration by series director Akira Amemiya, featuring all kinds of different elements from the world of SSSS.GRIDMAN.

Taking a closer look, you can see Junk, Rikka’s school bag, phone, earphones, umbrella, the box lunch she gave to Anti, the bag from when she bought the pass case for Akane, her blue scarf…

Various different items from the series circle around Rikka as she appears to float in mid-air.

▲I personally really like the flowing look of her scarf!

You can see objects resembling those from the Computer World coming from the base as well!

According to the planning department supervisor for this figure, Chan Shuu, the clear base represents “nothingness”, and from that nothingness comes the Computer World, all of the various parts surrounding the figure and of course, Rikka.

Have fun reflecting on SSSS.GRIDMAN while looking at the figure when you take her home!

From Rikka’s flowing hair, the sharp look of Junk and the soft, loose appearance of her outfit makes for a figure with incredibly varied, impressive sculptwork.

No matter what angle you photograph her from, the figure is packed with detail.

And look at that subtle gazing expression! That gaze really pierces your heart. ( ・ㅂ・)و̑

▲Her soft smile makes for such a relaxed atmosphere!

Needless to say, her thighs look incredible, but also take a look at the subtle wrinkles on her socks, and the earphone cable loosely wrapped around her ankle.

▲Her loafers have been recreated with a glossy look to them for maximum detail.

As for the various items surrounding her, don’t miss the damaged-looking paintwork of Junk!

▲Compared to the other parts, you can really feel how old Junk is.

Today I’ll be taking a look at…

Nendoroid Rohan Kishibe

From the anime series “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable” comes a Nendoroid of Rohan Kishibe, the manga artist dedicated to seeking out inspiration from reality by any means necessary. The figure is fully articulated so you can display him in a wide variety of poses. He comes with three face plates including his intellectual standard expression, his intimidating combat expression and his “I refuse.” expression, allowing you to recreate a certain famous scene from the series.

Today I’ll be taking a look at…

Tohka Yatogami

From the popular light novel series “Date A Live” comes a 1/7th scale figure of the Spirit Tohka Yatogami based on an illustration by main illustrator Tsunako!

Her vividly colored purple armor and its various yellow decorations complement her gallant expression and impressive standing pose. Translucent parts have been utilized to recreate her armor and sword, making for a solid, somewhat translucent appearance. Be sure to add her to your collection!

From the internationally popular series “Date A Live” comes a scale figure of the main heroine, Tohka Yatogami!

Based on an illustration by Tsunako, Tohka has been recreated in a gallant standing pose holding her greatsword Sandalphon.

▲Those eyes really convey her determination!

While her pose is simple, her flowing long hair and intricate armor are packed with detail.

Her armor features sharp edges and high-gloss paintwork, while her fluttering skirt beneath utilizes translucent parts for a more clothlike appearance.

Her arms and chest have also been recreated to have a softer look. ₍₍(∩´ ᵕ `∩)⁾⁾

▲The difference in textures between her armor and soft skin is really quite stunning!

Sandalphon has been recreated using translucent parts, giving it an almost glowing appearance from the inside.

▲Plenty of detail in every part of the blade!

The base features a cracked design that appears to be caused by the tip of the blade striking the ground. ◎
