Tottori Spring Festival

Hello everyone, Kahotan here! (@gsc_kahotan)

Whenever Spring comes around I always feel like eating Japanese sweets! I wish I had some delicious Anko right now!!

Anyway, today I’m going to be taking a look at the festival taking place in Tottori, Kurayoshi from this week! 

The city of Kurayoshi is located almost in the centre of Tottori Prefecture. When Spring comes the city celebrates with an annual Festival that brings visitors from around the world.The cherry blossoms and rhododendron flowers are famous in Utsufuki Park around the Tottori Museum, which becomes the centre of the festival which runs from the 27th March until the 20th May 2015. Various different events take place during this period. Come by and visit the classic buildings of the ‘The Distant City of Kurayoshi’ while also enjoying the relaxing, gentle Spring air and the fun of the festival.

This event is a part of the Tottori Spring Festival which GSC has decided to take part in! We’ll be sending staff through all the way from today until the end of the event! ヽ(*・ω・)人(・ω・*)ノ

 

Time for a quick summary!

Kurayoshi City is located in…

Tottori Prefecture! (｀・ω・´)ゞ

△ Tottori Airport is also known as ‘Tottori Sand Dunes Conan Airport‘

It takes about 45 minutes to get from the airport to Kurayoshi City! From Kurayoshi station you can take a bus to the figure exhibition in about 20 minutes!

△ The top right is the station. The green mark is Tottori museum.

The Tottori Museum is very close to Utsufuki Park!

The GSC Staff went ahead to take a look at the museum before the event…

It’s a picture perfect museum!

But just how, and what figures will be on display here?!

Sugar Lily-senpai has been constantly racking her brain on how to work the exhibition, but things will all be revealed soon!

Of course the Nendoroid #1~500 display that was also seen at AnimeJapan and Comiket Special will also be at the event! The display will be different to the other figures though! (｡･ω･)ﾉﾞ

Plus once you’ve come and had a look at the figures, I also highly recommend taking a walk around the nearby Utsufuki Park! ☆

Nendoroid Celty Sturluson

“I am right here. I definitely exist.”

Today I’m going to be taking a look at…

Nendoroid Celty Sturluson!

From the anime series ‘DuRaRaRa!! x2’ comes a Nendoroid of the ‘Headless Rider’ also known as Celty Sturluson! She comes wearing her trademark helmet with a cat ear design, and the visor on the helmet can even be opened and closed! The scythe as well as various effect parts formed from the shadows that come from Celty are included with the Nendoroid.

Nendoroid-sized versions of the mobile device she uses to communicate, as well as her jet-black motorcycle are both included – she can even be posed riding the bike! Recreate the ‘Headless Rider’ urban legends in Nendoroid size!

Hyafuuuuuuuuuu!!!!! (/ω＼)

The ‘Headless Rider’ from the urban legends of Ikebukuro, Celty Sturluson is joining the Nendoroids!

Her jet-black biker suit and splendid body have been shrunk into Nendoroid size, and even her huge scythe is included! She looks so cute and yet still so awesome!!  (●´ω｀●)

Her trademark ‘cat ear’ helmet looks great, even from the back!

You can easily make out the difference in texture between the smooth helmet and tight suit! ♪

The scythe make use of translucent parts making sure that even in Nendoroid size it has a powerful, mysterious presence! (｀・ω・´)ゞ

Of course, she doesn’t have to be posed with the scythe! You can instead place her in a more everyday kind of scene!

“Hmmmm….” 

Using the specially included parts you can easily recreate the speculative pose she sometimes made in the series! (σ・∀・)σ

Plus the mobile device that she relies on to communicate is also included!

 She also comes with a special hand to hold the device, and… 

HEY! Her visor is… open!!

That’s right! The helmet’s visor even comes with the ability to open! Σ(･ω･ﾉ)ﾉ！

△ You can even see the swirling shadows inside…

Be sure to have a nice close look once she joins your collection!

But you have even more options! <○><○>  

Oooooooooooohhhh!!! (*´Д｀）

The sculpting even makes it look as if it’s slowly fading into the air by using translucent parts at the end!

(These parts connect in place of the normal neck joint)

Plus! Did you notice that the zipper on her outfit has been opened up? She even comes with an alternate body to allow for a slightly more sexy Celty!

It’s a bit hard to see from my photos, but even the collarbone has been included on the sculpt!

But there is still one more thing that just has to be included with Celty…

Her jet-black motorbike!!

This bike is a very close partner to Celty! She wouldn’t be complete without it, and so a Nendoroid-size bike had to be included!\

Although small, it has a good amount of detail on it!

The patterns on the tires and sculpt-work on the engine is great, and it even comes with a little stand just like a real motorbike! ヽ(ﾟ◇ﾟ )ﾉ

Celty can even take epic poses like this from the series!

Using the stand and the back wheel of the bike you can make a wheelie pose like this!! ε=(｡・д・｡)

She looks so valiant charging in on her steed with weapon in hand! Although along with the valiance is a large amount of Nendoroid cuteness too!! I wish I could go on a stroll around Ikebukuro with her!!

I safely arrived in Tottori last night! I wish I had more time to enjoy the sand dunes! Anyway, today I will be continuing with my blog from yesterday, taking a look at the lovely Spring photos sent through to me!

Two years ago I wanted to take photos but I missed the full bloom season, and a strong wind has also battered most of the fallen blossoms as well – I still managed to find a nice blossom or two, and decided I had to take a photo of them together with my freshly delivered Sakura Mikus! They seemed to be very happy with the blossoms! I’m currently away in Vietnam for work, but I’m looking forward to returning to enjoying a beautiful Spring in Japan again some time soon!

Hello! I’m a huge Nendoroid fan from Singapore. I’m sorry that my Japanese isn’t too great. In February this year I went on a trip to Kawazu as I heard it was where cherry blossom bloom earliest in Japan. While I was there I took this photo. I’d be proud for you to use it as your header!

Kahotan Post Office: Spring 2015 Edition

I want to go to Akihabara to drink some amazake. The vending machines around Akihabara station often have all sorts of different types of amazake! At least they used to… I wonder if they’re still there…

Anyway, around the end of last month I asked people to send through some photos for my 2015 Spring Twitter header!

I’ve spent a lot of time playing with Sakura Miku-chan, and have all sorts of memories together with her. While I was walking around my neighbourhood I found some small flowers so I decided to bring them back as a present for her! They might have been small, but when a Nendoroid holds them they look rather large – which was so very cute!

When I was working on an important university paper, I took a look at the garden  every morning when I woke up and saw these two types of flowers outside, croci and snowdrops. Both are proof that spring has come here in Germany and I felt like I received strength from them to go on with writing every day. Sinon is standing amidst them, embarrassed because she is unsure if such a colorful flower suits her. But I think they do!

Nendoroid Laura Bodewig

There was once a time where I wanted to become a crêpe chef! I would be so happy to be able to eat crêpes every single day! Though I’m also fairly certain I am way too clumsy to ever actually be able to cook something so thin and delicate!

Anyway, today I’m going to be taking a look at…

Nendoroid Laura Bodewig!

From the popular anime series ‘IS -Infinite Stratos-‘ comes the fourth Nendoroid from the series, Laura Bodewig! She comes with three expressions including her standard face, a shouting expression for combat scenes as well as a more ladylike embarrassed expression. Her eye patch is made as a separate part that can be attached and removed from any of the expressions!

Optional parts include weapons such as a combat knife and pistol allowing for combat scenes suited to her militaristic personality. She also comes with a blueberry crepe as well as a ‘IS’ activated left arm part! Special parts to recreate the running pose in the ending theme are also included. Be sure to display her with the previously released Nendoroids of Houki Shinonono, Cecilia Alcott and Lingyin Huang!

Hyahoooooooooo!!! ヽ(・ω・。)

The IS Representative Candidate of Germany and commander of the German IS special forces, ‘Schwarzer Hase’ is joining the Nendoroids! ♪

The sharp eyes and serious mouth show her off to be the serious soldier she is… but that doesn’t mean she isn’t still adorable! ♡♡

By the way, this is actually the fourth Nendoroid from the Infinite Stratos series! The previous character are as follows!

I’m sure we can expect a fifth one as well…!

I’ll touch a bit more on that subject a little later! For now let’s get back to Laura! Her rather distinguishing trousers have been faithfully shrunk into Nendoroid size!

Her long silver hair has also been very faithfully reproduced in Nendoroid form!

She comes with not only a pistol, but also a combat knife, allowing for all sorts of combat scenes that show just how powerful a soldier she can be! (●´ω｀●)ゞ

△ She looks so dauntless… yet cute at the same time!

However! You can also enjoy a more ladylike Laura with this expression! ♥︎

An adorable embarrassed expression!! (/ω＼)

She also comes with a blueberry crêpe to hold in her hand as above! Which means you can recreate that amazing scene in Nendoroid size!! I want to display her together with Charl!

Another thing you probably noticed is that the eye patch can also be removed!! This means you can display her with her gold colored left eye showing instead!! (  ´□｀｡)

(The eye patch parts are planned to connect into her hair parts!)

Combine the serious expression with her ‘Odin’s Eye’ showing to have her ready for combat!

The expression is the same as the one at the start of the blog, but without the eye patch it definitely has a very different feeling about it!

She also comes with an ‘IS Arm’ allowing you to display her with the plasma blade coming off her arm! (｡･ω･)ﾉﾞ 

△ The wrist also has a ball joint for creating different nuances!

With the combination of the embarrassed expression together with the eye-patch, you can recreate this famous scene from the show! (Well her outfit isn’t quite right… but close enough!)

She also comes with crossed arms to show her strong attitude! ♡

Just looking at this pose makes me think of her stubborn and determined way of talking! Her personality has been added into the Nendoroid very effectively! (｀・ω・´)ゞ

As with the previous IS Nendoroids, she also comes with parts to recreate the ending theme scene!

Touken Ranbu Goods!

I believe very strongly in the Japanese saying ‘dumplings over flowers’ – that it is better to have something practical like food rather than something pretty like flowers.

However Spring is finally here, which means we will soon get to enjoy both – eat delicious things like sakura-mochi while also getting to see beautiful sakura blossoms!

Anyway, as I’m sure everyone knows by now, yesterday was the long-awaited announcement of Nendoroid Mikazuki Munechika

I might still not have Mikazuki Munechika in game, but I get to take a look at his Nendoroid which will definitely keep me busy for now!

So without any more delays, today I’m going to be taking a look at…

Nendoroid Mikazuki Munechika

“My name is Mikazuki Munechika.
One of the five great swords of Japan”

From the popular PC browser game ‘Touken Ranbu -ONLINE-‘ comes a Nendoroid of the most beautiful of the Five Great Swords, Mikazuki Munechika! He comes with three expressions including a standard face with a charming smile, an expression for combat as well as a nonchalant expression made in the image of his ‘ojiichan’ nickname!

His sword is included and can be displayed both sheathed and drawn, and the scabbard faithfully shows off the phases of the moon! Other optional parts include a traditional Japanese teacup for more relaxed scenes, as well as an ‘uchiko’ which is needed to keep your swordsmen ready for battle! Be sure to add him to your collection!

An apology to all the saniwa out there who have been waiting for the Nendoroid to come up for preorder! One of the Five Great Swords of Japan as well as the one known to be the most beautiful… Nendoroid Mikazuki Munechika is finally here! The spirit of the sword made at the end of the 11th century in the Heian Period has joined the Nendoroids!

This is also one of the fastest a Nendoroid has ever started development! Nendoroid Mikazuki started being sculpted just one month after the game had started (´□｀｡)

Let’s see how he looks from the back! ♥

You never get to see him from the back in game, which means the figure adds a whole new side of Mikazuki to enjoy!! ♪

His soft and silky looking hair is definitely one of my highlights!Another thing to note is the scabbard that shows the phases of the moon along it! Isn’t it beautiful! (｀・ω・´)ゞ

Also take a look at how the outfit was shrunk down into Nendoroid size – even in this small size the elegant outfit very reminiscent of the nobles in the Heian period has been carefully sculpted down to the smaller little ornaments!

It’s an outfit with an incredible amount of information and detail placed into it – as one would expect for the ‘most beautiful’ of the Five Great Swords, Mikazuki Munechika! The overall balance of the figure is also such a pleasure to look at!

The ever so slight creases along the outfit are also amazing! They add even more to the distinct atmosphere of the classic Japanese clothes!

Note of course his eyes which are actually crescent moons, as well as the slight gradient applied to the tips of his hair!

All of Mikazuki’s intricate little charms have been so carefully added to the Nendoroid! As most of you know all Nendoroids stand about 10cm in height, but there is something about the air around Mikazuki that makes him seem to stand out so much more clearly and confidently! I hope that fans will be willing to add him into their collections! <○><○>

Anyway, let’s move on and see what other optional parts are included with him! Firstly along with the standard expression above, he also comes with this relaxed and content expression! This expression is included to display his more carefree side that suits his nickname ‘ojiichan’ or ‘grandpa’!

A nonchalant expression!! ♡

Just looking at him makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside!!

I wish I could sit out on a balcony and sip tea with him while looking out at the cherry blossoms!! 

The first expression shows him off as the elegant and beautiful sword he his, but this one shows a different side of him! He also comes with another extra part that suits this expression very well!

“Ah… I love being taken good care of!”

He comes with an ‘uchiko’!

These were used in the past to keep swords in good condition, and can be used to keep the Nendoroid happy as well!

△ With careful balance he can even hold it himself…!

Just as a side note, the uchiko is not actually soft, it’s made from the same material as the figure itself… so be sure to only touch it to him softly! (｀・ω・´)ゞ

Now that We’ve seen the gentle side of him… let’s move onto the next expression…

An expression that shows off his gallant side!

 

“…let’s do this.”

Ooooooooooohh!! (/ω＼)

It’s perfect! I can’t get enough of how amazing he looks!!

This confident and valiant looking combat expression is also included!

△ The combat pose from the game can also be recreated! 

Once again the change of expression brings across a whole different side of his personality! Don’t you feel an enormous pressure behind this combat pose?! I certainly do! (°Д°；≡°Д°；)

As you can see, his sword can also be displayed unsheathed using the included alternate parts! ♪

I’ve been trying to keep my excitement down as much as possible for this review but it’s so hard!!

The reason for that is I want to have lots to talk about during tomorrow’s like broadcast!

The long awaited start of the Touken Ranbu Nendoroids!

Rin comes with a smile that show off her easygoing personality, as well as a glaring face for when she gets tired of listening to wooser’s chatter. wooser himself is also of course included to pose with her!

I really love the soft warm colors of the series! ♡

Rin-chan’s innocent cuteness has been captured in Nendoroid beautifully! wooser also looks great, and even comes with his own little stand! Rin comes with both straight arms as well as an alternate arm for posing her waving her hand like above! She also comes with the arm and hand part for the joint pose shown at the beginning of the article!

Even the hood of the wooser hoodie is faithfully sculpted!

△ The candy-like colors make we think they would taste very sweet!

“Hey! I’m back as a figure again!” “I expected no less.”

From the anime series ‘wooser’s hand-to-mouth life: phantasmagoric arc’ comes a Nendoroid of Ren with Darth wooser in a simple but more affordable set! Ren comes with both a winking expression and a smiling expression, both of which capture her lively personality!

Miniskirt x knee-high socks x tube top x open hoodie! ♡

The playful winking expression also matches her sexy outfit very nicely! She comes with straight arms as well as an arm part to pose her ‘shooting’ with her hand like above! The part for the combined pose is also included, and she comes with arm and hand parts to place at her hands at her hips!

The Darth wooser hoodie also looks fantastic! ♪


△ The short shirt also means a little peek at the bare skin of her legs!

Right! Let’s have a little bit of fun with these two!! (●´ω｀●)

A bit of a sad ending to show the upset Rin-chan expression as she heads home alone! This expression can be used for so many different things – it works just as well for angry poses as it does for sulking or even judging poses! I hope you’ll come up with even more ideas if you decide to pick her up! (/ω＼)

My hay fever is really acting up at the moment! Whenever it rains I know the next day is going to be terrible! Anyway, today I’m going to be taking a look at the next in the Nendoroid Co-de series!

Joining the new ‘Nendoroid Co-de’ brand of Nendoroids is Sophie Hojo from the popular anime PriPara! There are two different versions to enjoy – Sophie comes in her Holic Trick Cyalume Co-de or White Swan Co-de!

Both of the outfits are from the stylish ‘Holic Trick’ brand – one is the cyalume co-de and the other is the outfit used when Sophie performs her solo stage, ‘Solar Flare Sherbet’!

Be sure to display her together with the previously announced Laala Manaka and Mirei Minami Nendoroid Co-de figures, which will allow for all sorts of different outfit combinations!

Sophiiiiiiiiiiieee!!! (´□｀｡)

The stylish character with two very different personalities that are both equally lovable! Her long red hair and slightly mysterious eyes are so very lovely, as are the outfits from the ‘Holic Trick’ brand!

A Quick Nendoroid Co-de Recap!

 

Nendoroid Co-de is a new addition to the Nendoroid series based on the theme of dressing-up characters! The figures have fixed poses and each come with four parts – the head, upper garment, lower garment and shoes. Each of these parts can be swapped between characters allowing for all sorts of possibilities. The more you collect, the more dress-up options become available to you!

In other words…! They are simple fixed pose Nendoroids, great for new collectors and with the ability to dress-up in various ways! Great fun for both young and old fans!

“Girls be free! Valkyria!!”

The combination of white, red and black make for a kind of rocky, but Gothic outfit that has an incredibly stylish feel to it! She is posed with a microphone singing for her fans! The red ribbons on the top of the boots and the frilly skirt really bring out both the cool and the cute so nicely! ♥︎


△ Definitely a different taste in outfit compared with Laala and Mirei!

Next up we have…

“Have you all been behaving? My little caged birdies…”

I-I’m behaving!! I’ve been patiently waiting for you!!!

A simple outfit featuring a lovely mix of black and white! It is such an amazing outfit to mix and match with others! (●´ω｀●)

Her long hair makes it a little difficult to see, but I want to highlight the back of her outfit!!

It’s open at the top showing off some skin!!

The white gloves and slightly sexy outfit all come together to create a rather mature co-de! ☆ That brings my basic review to an end…. but that means it’s time for…

Last year’s new graduate in the advertising team!

From April we’ll have all new graduates coming in! I wonder what kind of people they will be! Anyway, while she is busy getting ready for AnimeJapan this weekend she took the time to make this Co-de!

Anyway, Sophie’s release means that finally all three members of SoLaMi♡SMILE are up for preorder! Once they are released I want to see photos of everyone’s recommended Co-des! (｡･ω･)ﾉﾞ

Utaha Kasumigaoka: A Closer Look!

Today I’m going to be taking a closer look at the figure I introduced yesterday…

The 1/7th Scale…

Utaha Kasumigaoka!♥︎

From the anime series ‘Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend’ comes a 1/7th scale figure of the top student and up-and-coming novelist Utaha Kasumigaoka-senpai!The figure is based on an illustration by Kurehito Misaki, the original character designer of the series – it features Utaha right the middle of getting dressed, and has been sculpted and painted with great care to ensure it captures the charm of Utaha-senpai from the original illustration. Obviously all the areas that were never visible on the illustration have been carefully considered and added on to the figure, allowing fans to enjoy the lovely pose from any angle they please!

Yesterday I took a quick sneak peek at some of the highlights of the figure, so be sure to take a look at that blog as well!

But let’s get on with today’s review, starting from the back!

The figure is posed  leaning over making her stand slightly shorter than most 1/7th scale figures! Her long, flowing hair looks so very soft, and the way her skirt is being lifted up is fantastic!

The reverse side of the figure is filled with so many highlights that you never get to see from the front!

Taking a look from the side also shows off a fair amount of skin! Just look at the curves around the belly button!

The intricate creases and folds of the blouse are so realistic!

It really makes me feel like I’m taking peeping photos! (°Д°；≡°Д°；)

Another piece of detail that I really loved is the fastener’s on the outfit! The left and right sides have been properly thought out for the sculpt!

You wouldn’t be able to see parts like that if the clothes were fully worn… 

But that’s exactly why a dressing scene like this exists, isn’t it?! 

The ribbon and it’s fasteners, the collar and her boldly opened out blouse… everything about the sculpt and pose just begs you to stare in awe!

When it comes down to it, it’s a rather simple school uniform, but that exact second of the start of getting dressed has been frozen in time for fans to enjoy forever! That’s what makes her so special! (*´Д｀)♥

The 1/7th scale also allows for a little more detail to be added into the figure! The figure’s planner, Kyojin, had this highlight to point out! 

The Toe Area of the Stockings!

You can clearly make out where the toes begin thanks to the sculpt!

Let’s check on the sculptor’s highlights!

The sculptor of this figure is none other than Good Smile’s Manabu Katou! His highlights of the sculpt were…

The fluttering feeling of the uniform!

The blouse and blazer are so meticulously sculpted which gives off a really realistic look to the outfit! It really looks like gravity is pulling on it, and the various parts are fluttering loosely. All the areas that were never visible on the original illustration are also carefully thought out and sculpted on in a wonderful way!

Apparently the most difficult thing to work on was the creases and fluttering effect of the uniform! I said it was a rather simple outfit, but that my no means makes it easy to sculpt – the amount of detail is still incredible! (●´ω｀●)

See-though Stockings

The calves, back of her knees and bottom are all covered up by ever so slightly transparent stockings! The tight pull of the stockings on the skin is nicely noticeable as well! You need to really see this for yourself when she joins your collection!

Utaha-senpai’s black stockings are definitely one of her charm points! ♥︎

The fact that she is lifting her skirt up means that even more of the stockings are visible than most figures with stockings! (σ・∀・)σ

Even the run guard in the stocking is visible on the figure!!

Then as if that amount of detail wasn’t enough, they are even slightly translucent allowing you to see the soft skin behind them as well! ♪
