Miku Hatsune: Love is War ver.

Yesterday was Miku’s 4th Birthday!

Happy belated birthday, Miku!

We all love you, Miku!
Plus I’m sure we’ll continue to love you for quite some time to come!!

It’s very fitting that this figure would be announced so close to her birthday!

From the popular song composed by ryo and produced by supercell with illustrations by Shirou Miwa, ‘Love is War,’ is this lovely 1/8th scale figure of Miku Hatsune! Her long flowing hair is blowing up behind her, her skirt is also flying up in the wind as she holds a megaphone in her one hand and leans over the edge of a railing, shouting out about her love! It’s a beautiful and dynamic pose that recreates Shirou Miwa’s original illustration perfectly!

If you’re too lazy to go read that article, here is a quick summary:

There is a big base version and a small base version!

The left is the deluxe (DX) version, while the one on the right is the standard version. Obviously Miku is included with both stands, with the deluxe version going for 14000JPY and the standard version going for 8800JPY. The article above focuses on the DX version, and this article will focus on the standard version!

This here is the standard version!

A quick look will tell you the base is definitely a lot simpler and smaller – but it still keeps the same taste as the original illustration! In fact… the base on the standard version is pretty big itself, just compared to the deluxe version it looks quite small 😛 The Miku in both versions is identical.

Here you can see the standard base!

There are no longer speakers all over the place, and the area to stand on is more of 1/6th of a circle compared to the half on the deluxe version. But even though it is smaller, it’s just as detailed!

Don’t worry!

The floor part and steel tower can both be removed!

Obviously it’ll lose a bit of it’s charm without them, but you have to do what you have to do to fit her in, right? 😛

It’s amazing how heavy it looks… even though it’s just PVC… what a great paint job! Just as wonderful a job as on the DX version!

Miku-san from the front!

I seem to focus on the base so much some people might almost forget about the main part of the figure! 😛 Here is Miku posed on the base in her dynamic pose with her long twin-tails flying out behind her. It also has the same wonderful contrast! Definitely one of my best Miku figures ever!

A grated floor and rusted look!

This is one part I’ve really come to like!! It really builds a nice atmosphere for the figure. It’s the little things like this that make fans like me super happy!

Tasshi! What are you doing!?

You’re not allowed to check things like that!

I might be giving him a bad name, but Tasshi is actually responsible for the painting on this incredible figure!

On another note – I have no space on my desk thanks to this figure! But at least I’ll finally get to take a close look at this figure – I know lots of you have been waiting for it as well!

First let me say…

It’s incredible!

Everything from the sculpting to painting – it’s all absolutely stunning!

As you can see, the base is the biggest ever! 😛

“Whoa! Hold on a sec! There is no way I’ll have space for that thing!”

…for all those worrying about that – worry not!

There will be two different sizes available for purchase!

It’s bigger than my monitor! 😛 But it’s not just big – the base is also at an unbelievable level of quality! It really looks like it was cast out of metal!!

Today I’ll be reviewing the deluxe version!

Personally I’d definitely recommend getting this one if you have the space!

Miku Hatsune: Love is War ver. DX

This big speaker base was seen the the ‘Love is War’ PV illustration. It looked really impressive as in illustration, but as a figure you can really get a feel for its massive presence!

If you sum them up, there are in fact a total of nine speakers on the base!

As you can see the actual area Miku stands on is a semi-circle – the entire circle isn’t a part of the figure, but the center of the base is not cut off at all. I don’t think it’d look half as nice if the center piece had been cut in half as well. 😛

Alright, let’s move onto the actual Miku figure!
Look at her wonderful expression!

It’s a perfect recreation of Miwa-san’s original illustration!

The contrast looks so beautiful! The pink and the green come out so nicely with to emphasize parts of the illustration! The figure is made to look exactly like the illustration, so fans of Miwa’s work should definitely enjoy it!

A look at her wonderful outfit!

I love the way everything seem to be flapping around! And look at that belly-button!!! She has a nice tight waist-line while flows down to her hip-line, which is just as gorgeous!

Her long flowing twin-tails!

Miku’s hair is definitely one of the highlights of this figure. A large amount of gradient painting is used to help recreate the contrast experienced in the original illustration. The twirling together of blue and green really looks great together!

This is how it looks from another angle!

Those huge speakers together with Miku! You really get a feel for just how big the speakers are when you compare them to the size of Miku. 😛

I couldn’t put her whole body in because of… well… because of the way her skirt if blowing up 😛 You have to see that part for yourself! She really does have a nice body – just look at that sexy looking back!

Let’s try a low angle!

The stand really compliments Miku’s colors so nicely, creating an all-in-all gorgeous figure! Normally I don’t do low-angle shots like this as they will often make figures look a bit strange, but this is one figure that really looks absolutely incredible no matter what angle you look at her from!

The other side of the speakers!

It looks like a real speaker has just been shrunk down to figure size!! For those who are interested – the base is made using 3D data! It really is a perfect example of what amazing things can be done with 3D data sculpting!

Even inside the speakers there is a texture!
The inside of the speakers uses coloring similar to Miku’s – it all works together very nicely! The texture is not just painted on, it’s actually there when you feel it as well! I think this must be the first ever figure with a base that goes into such detail… it’s simply outstanding!

Another look at the DX ver.’s base!

Based on the monitor and keyboard in the background you should get a fell for just how big it is! Plus I’m sure you can see that even though it’s big, that by no means the quality will be bad. I know I’ve already said it, but I’ll say it again – I definitely recommend getting this version if you can! It’s incredible!

It is actually a part of the ending theme for the anime! The unseen parts such as her left hand’s fingertips being inside her boot is all just the sculptor’s imagination – great job!

Just stare into her downward glare for a few seconds – if you’re anything like me it’ll really get your heart beating! 😀 The way the hair has come out also looks just like the original illustration – I love the way the two sides have such different balance.

There is nothing wrong with small breasts, but at the same time I think Arséne is showing us exactly why some people prefer them bigger. ^^;

The dark red feels like the perfect color for her!

The red inside the cloak really complements the dark outfit and sexy look perfectly! Skin-color, black and red are the perfect colors for that sexy look! This figure is the perfect example of that!

I found this plushie over at someone’s desk, and while it is rather interesting, I see something else that has also caught my eye…

1/8th Scale Triela!

Triela is from the popular manga currently being serialized in Dengeki Daiou, ‘GUNSLINGER GIRL’ – she is the second girl to become employed by the Social Welfare Agency!

It’s been a very long wait for this figure, but it has all been worth it now! Fans of the series will be glad they can finally display her together with Henrietta – who is also going on resale, just in case you missed her all those years back! 😛

Triela’s thin, golden twin-tails are blowing out in the wind along with her long black coat. The pose is a simple standing pose, but the feeling that the wind is blowing on her really adds a wonderful feeling to the entire figure.

Today I’ll be taking a look at…

1/8 Scale Miku Hatsune: Lat-type Ver.!

It’s a figure of Miku based on a popular 3D CG model of her from MikuMikuDance – The Lat-type model! All the small things that make up the popular model have been carefully sculpted into the figure – her large headphones, the red ring on her arm and even the checkered wallet chain at her waist!

That skirt is so close… so very close…. Lat-type Miku’s left foot is also posed slightly in the air! She comes with a clear rod to support the leg.

The design is simple, but very detailed!

While normal Miku has a headset, Lat-type Miku has headphones! I must say I’ve always wondered why girls wearing headphones is so popular, but I must say it’s cute here!

The hair accessories around her twintails make use of clear plastic!
It gives a very nice transparent feeling to them!

The 1/8th scale original Miku has just been on resale, so now you have no excuse to not display the two together!

But that’s a different base!?

Lat-type Miku comes with a 2nd base that matches the original 1/8th Scale Miku’s base! What a wonderful extra!! The poses are also just like mirror images of each other, so they really look good together!

The glasses can be used for all sorts of things!

They’re even the perfect size for Nendo petites! 😛 She actually comes with two pairs, so you are free to play around with them! Red-framed glasses AND school uniforms! Too much cute at once! xD

The 1/8th scale Madoka we took a look at on Friday!

I got stopped halfway through my pictures last time, but today I’ll take a proper look at her! I hope you’ve all been waiting in anticipation! 😛 Particularly after hearing that there are some extra parts that come with her!

The Puella Magi Madoka Magica 1/8th scale series:
Number 1 : Madoka Kaname!

She is the main character from the popular anime ‘Puella Magi Madoka Magica’! The pose itself is based on one of the key visuals from the series, which features Madoka in a very dynamic pose with a huge smile on her face!

Plus she is wearing her beautiful Puella Magi outfit!

Pink is normally a hard color to work with, but it came out beautifully here!

Madoka’s #1 selling point just has to be that lovely frilly and puffy skirt!! The frills look absolutely gorgeous! I hope the final version of the figure comes out just as well!

A perfect conversion of the illustration!

Trying to change a 2D image into a 3D figure isn’t an easy task, but this one really has come out perfectly!

She looks like an angel from any angle!

A look from the top!

On a 1/8th scale figure the clothes and posing can often make the figure itself look a little small, but in Madoka’s case her nice big skirt really gives off a nice big feeling!

This looks like the opening theme pose!

This picture was taken with the image of Madoka running along like in the opening theme. 😛 But the highlight here is of course the lovely shoes!

The Soul Gem is made from clear plastic!

The Soul Gem is a key element to the storyline, and even though it’s tiny it’s still very detailed! The two arm frills are also done using a beautiful pink gradient. It really looks wonderful!

The Soul Gem kind of changes colors when you look at it from different angles! (Although, that’s not actually part of the design, so I’m not sure if the final product will still do that.) When you spin her around you can see it kind of glinting with the light – it looks really nice!

Plus, Madoka looks really sexy from this angle!

You can pull him off and make him hold on somewhere else instead! Here I tried making him hold on to her ankle, which kind of worked… but once again I’m not sure if it’ll work on the final version of the figure. ^^;

Her bow is also included!

The gems in the centre of the bow are just as beautiful as the Soul Gem – they also use the same clear plastic! The little leaf like parts at the ends of the bow are also right there! She has a replaceable wrist part which allows her to hold it easily – a very nice extra for fans of the series!

1/8th Scale Suruga Kanbaru

It’s already Friday!

After the hectic weekend of WonFes I really can’t wait to relax this weekend!

But the manufacturing team can’t relax even after WonFes!

They still need to send out brand new GSC figures like this one so they can reach the stores in time! But that also means I have to do a review of the wonderful figures as well – so today we’ll be looking at this wonderful figure!

The third in the 1/8th Scale Bakemonogatari Series:

Suruga Kanbaru!

She is from the anime Bakemonogatari, and follows on from the already released figures of Hitagi Senjougahara and Nadeko Sengoku!

It’s the same amazing quality as the rest of the series!!
I am a Kanbaru fan, but I really do recommend this to fans and non fans of her! It’s such an amazing figure!

Not that you can see much of her – but you do get a nice look at the huge base filled with books! You can even see the little colored tags that Kanbaru leaves in the books!!

You can move Kanbaru around!

There isn’t any specific part that Kanbaru clicks onto – you just need to position her as you please! As you can see here, I decided to put her on the top of the pile of books instead

A closer look at the amazing base!

I don’t know if you can really call this a base – it’s so amazing it’s almost like another figure in itself. ^^;

Every single book is painted separately!

Plus they even use a gradient!

When working on the original master design for the figure I remember that there was a lot of sweat and tears put into painting the books – it’s hard to imagine that there have now been thousands of them made in a factory! There are really not many figures that have a downward glance like this one, it works very well for Kanbaru! The delicate hand holding the book, her arm resting on the books beside her and her bountiful bosom are all super sexy!!

Her beautiful, long and slim legs!

Just look at those beautiful calves! You can tell why she is the ace of the basketball team with legs like these! Plus the best thing about this photo is the way it seems like she is looking down at you!

The books can all be removed from the stand so you can even do things like this! (The basketball can also be removed, but it is attached by a prong, it doesn’t just stay by itself.)

This one came out as a strangely sexy picture!

The desk and chair come from the forth in the Bakemonogatari figure series – Tsubasa Hanekawa – you can combine the two to create something like this! The fact that they are all the same scale makes it so easy to do things like this!

Asuka’s long, beautiful hair has all been sculpted absolutely wonderfully! I’m sure some of you will have already guessed, but the sculptor of this figure was the same in charge of the 1/6th Scale Mari Illustrious Makinami, Chieri!

Such a little devilish expression and pose!

But that’s just what makes her adorable! This angle has a really ‘Asuka’ feeling about it – it really captures her perfectly!

That transparent paint really does justice in times like these! Excellent work from Max Factory once again! 😛

The suit shows so much… and yet just not enough!

But, as I’ve said before, that’s just what makes it sexy! The fact that you can just not see what you want to see is part of the reason the figure has such an erotic feeling to it!

There are little spikes on her shoe soles!

They must be to avoid slipping an falling! If you look up close you can also see the design on the sole has carefully been sculpted in as well! 1/6th scale adds even more detail then we normally see!

My favorite photo this time around!

Chieri-san’s sculpting really is incredible!! I really like this figure so much that it’s going to be hard to part with it!! Everything is just so finely sculpted – no matter where you look it is simply amazing! That’s not something I would expect from you!!

What are you doing to that poor figure! I think the bad influences around the office are getting to him…

It might look like he is doing something indecent… or painting in that photo, but he is actually just using a tool to fine tune the angle that the figure is displayed at… I was so close to hitting him over the head as well…

Anyway, today’s product review is this beautiful figure…

BEATLESS is a short novel that is being written by Satoshi Hase and illustrated by redjuice. This figure if of one of the main characters in that story, the female hIE – ‘Leicia’!

It’s VERY big!!

But it’s a lot more than just big – it also looks absolutely fantastic! Let’s take a closer look!

A close up of Leicia-chan!

The huge device that makes up the stand does stand out a lot – but by no means does that make Leicia herself less incredible! Her whole body – hips, even her boots all have gradient painting!

Plus she is really sexy!

She isn’t showing much skin, but the little bits that peek out are really something!

This is how she looks from the back!

don’t really like taking photos like this that show only half a figure’s face, but Leicia is beautiful at any angle! I beauty is a beauty no matter how you look at her!! Plus this angle gives a good look at her hips and the unique outfit around them – it’s quite big!

Oooh! The pose really works nicely for a shot like this! By the way, I have no idea what the huge device behind her is… but I’m sure we’ll find out in the story soon….?

In the end, all that has been decided is that we shall call it the ‘Device’! 😛

Such a relaxed expression!!

It’s absolutely wonderful!!

I’m super impressed as always with the sculptors and painters – they have really captured redjuice’s illustration perfectly! It’s also really lifelike – just by changing the angle ever so slightly the expression looks so different – it was really difficult to get the right photo!! (albeit, I’m not so sure lifelike is the right word, seen I’m not sure if Leicia is really alive… :P)

Her magnificent body line!

I think the main contributions to her sexy look are her armpits and the area between her breasts… it’s probably because they are fairly rare places to see on a figure. When you suddenly get to see them on a figure they are all the more compelling to look at, don’t you think? It’s really hard to pin point just why she looks so sexy though!!

The device has a little secret of its own!

Take a look at the wing-like part with the blue line on it.

This part opens and closes!!
It can open and close to any point, so you just need to find the point that you want to display it at.

A closer look on the inside of the device!

It might be quite hard to see in this photo… but it’s really impressive how detailed it is in there…

The incredible thing is, the device is made using 3D data that redjuice made himself!!

Obviously the final brush-ups were done by the 3D team, but to think the design was done by the illustrator himself!! This is one of the first times that the 3D model was actually used to help draw up the 2D version! ^^;

The inside of the device was also all done by redjuice!

The figure is part of the ‘BEATLESS Introduction Set’, which also comes with a special guidebook which features a prologue to the novel, a list of terminology, various illustrations, character designs and more!
