It somehow makes me really happy to see Good Smile products at the front of a convenience store! Just think how many people will see them as they come by now!!

Of course I bought one for myself as well!

002

Sakuma Drops: Character Vocal Series Ver.:

Nendoroid Petite Rubber Strap Included!

What a very long name… 😛
In commemoration of Good Smile Company’s 10th anniversary, the delicious treats, ‘Sakuma Drops’ are joining in collaboration with the Character Vocal Series!

003

The back introduces the straps!

This back was designed by Daamatsu from the design team! Great work! It’s nice to be able to see what straps might be inside!

Each tin comes in a special casing which you can see above as well – which makes sure the tin itself isn’t damaged at all!

004

Here is what is inside the case!

The black bag is the rubber strap!

You won’t know which character is inside until you open it! Be very careful when cutting open the black bag that you don’t accidentally cut the strap – there is also a little leaflet about this to remind you!

005

Who will I get!?

The secret character!!

It really must be my lucky day today!

The secret character is illustrated by CHANxCO!

It’s really magical, so if you like the straps I really think you should aim to her hold of it! There are a total of eight to collect including the secret strap!

006
Let’s move onto some more details about the product!

There are eight tins in each big box!

You can of course by them one-by-one in Circle K Sunkus stores as well, but if you want a box of eight you can grab it here!

KARUWAZA ONLINE: http://karuwazaonline.jp/pc/00000003/goods2/30120200944/

007

There are two different tins!

The Nendoroid tin and Nendoroid illustration tin!
The straps are based on the same illustrations used on the tin on the right!

008

This is the reverse sides!

A wonderful collection of all Crypton’s Vocaloid characters! Plus you can see the Good Smile 10th Anniversary logo on the bottom right!

009

Even the seal is specially made!

A silver bottom which features the Good Smile Seijin! Even within the company it was praised for being cute! 😛

010

The seven rubber straps!

You’ll find one of these with each tin you buy! The design on the tin doesn’t change which straps are inside, so don’t worry about that!

011

Miku Hatsune!

As it’s a collaboration with Sakuma Drops, all the straps are holding Sakuma tins and drops! Each and everyone is an original illustration!

012

Rin & Len Kagamine!

The two twins are like mirror images of one and another! They look so cute side by side!

013

Luka Megurine and Snow Miku!

The rubber straps this time around pop-out slightly the center of the outlines. It’s incredible quality for a bonus included with Sakuma Drops!

014

KAITO and MEIKO!

The manufacturing of the rubber straps were done with help from Overdrive! Thanks guys! They really worked with us to create the straps just how we wanted!

003

Looking under their skirts…!?

GRIMROCK!’s sculptor Ken Kawanishi came to visit us here in Matsudo! He’s taking a look at the recently released Sayaka-chan sample together with another lovely figure…! (`・ω・´)ゞ

004
The 5th in the Madoka Magica 1/8th scale figure series:

Kyouko Sakura!

From the anime series that received a number of awards in 2011, ‘Puella Magi Madoka Magica’ comes a 1/8th scale figure in a lovely dynamic pose of the Puella Magi with a long red ponytail – Kyouko Sakura!

Following on from the previously released Madoka Kaname, Homura Akemi, Mami Tomoe and Sayaka Miki – Kyouko is here to complete the famous key visual that all the poses are based on! Plus afterwards we also have Ultimate Madoka coming up as well!

006

A dynamic pose holding her spear!

It’s huge!! ((((;゚Д゚))))
Trying to get the entire spear into the photo was quite a task – it’s almost as long as the monitor!! I love the look of adorable characters like Kyouko with huge weapons like this!

For those who are worried about the spear being too long and taking up too much space – don’t worry! There are some replaceable parts that’ll remove that problem that we’ll take a look at later!

005

Her cute moe fang! (*゚∀゚)=3

It just wouldn’t be Kyouko without that adorable little tooth!! You can see it nice and clearly on the 1/8th scale figure – just looking at that smile makes me feel all warm and happy inside. (*´ω`*)

010

Look at that lovely ponytail!

The hair is flowing behind her and really compliments the dynamic pose – each and every strand is so detailed! You really need to look at it from a variety of angles to really appreciate how lovely it looks!

Here we have the replaceable parts!

Instead of holding the spear you can instead display her holding her favorite taiyaki as well!

Plus these hand parts have her hand much further backward when compared to the pose with the spear, creating a considerably different feeling to the figure – nice for a change once in a while!

009

Everything is so detailed!

008

She has a lovely body-line!

Her lovely ladylike upper body is complimented brilliantly by these thighs that look so very squishy!! I almost can’t resist trying to touch them to see if they feel as soft as they look!

001

The five Puella Magi!!

Here we have the complete 1/8th scale series together recreating the famous key visual! Having Kyouko really brings the collection together beautifully!

This pose does differ slightly from the original illustration as they are all holding their weapons!

002

Let’s try a slightly different angle!

I absolutely love seeing all of them together like this, so I had to take another picture! I have the two in the back lifted up slightly higher to create this look, but you could also of course just display them all together in a line!

004

The 5th in the Madoka Magica 1/8th scale figure series:

Kyouko Sakura!

She’ll be on the GSC site from tomorrow! (`・ω・´)ゞ

1/8th Scale Mami Tomoe & Nendoroid Kyouko Sakura

Back to the upcoming release box!

001

A box filled with products that are soon to be released!
Products are always placed in this box for me to put on the blog, but I just haven’t had time to get through them all recently!

However, today I’ll be taking a look at two Puella Magi figures to start catching up!

002

Releasing today:

1/8th Scale Mami Tomoe!

From the popular anime series with a movie on the way, ‘Puella Magi Madoka Magica’ comes a dynamic 1/8th scale of Madoka’s schoolmate and fellow Puella Magi – Mami Tomoe is the famous pose from the key visual!

Just look at that lovely body line!! (*゚∀゚)=3

003

This is how she looks from the back!

She looks great from the front, but no matter what angle you look at her from it looks amazing! Just look at those lovely thighs! The stand has a rounded circular base just like the previous figures in the series.

004

Such a lovely and gentle expression!

She has a lovely relaxed expression that suits Mami’s personality perfectly! Tsukki from the manufacturing team has quite some trouble getting the curly blond hair to look like it does – but it seems to have come out perfectly!

005

Simply wonderful!!

006

The musket sculpted with 3D data!

Even the final product version has such incredibly intricate detail! Even the tip of of the gun is separated into two tiny sections!

007

Three of the Puella Magi together!

Plus I’ve switched Homuhomu and Mami-san’s weapons! 😛 The weapons are removable from the figures so you can play around like this as well!

Isn’t it lovely to see a set of figures coming together like this! I can’t wait to get hold of the rest of them as well!

009

For release tomorrow:

Nendoroid Kyouko Sakura!

Also from ‘Puella Magi Madoka Magica’ comes a Nendoroid of the egotistical Kyouko Sakura! She comes with a load of optional parts to recreate all sorts of scenes from the show!

008

This is how the packaging looks!

She comes with a smiling face, an upset face and a face munching on some of her favorite ‘Rocky’ treats! She also comes with a taiyaki so you can really pose her enjoying her favorite foods!

The Rocky (top right of the packaging) just needs to be pushed into the mouth of the once expression part to complete it. It’s a very tiny part so be careful that it doesn’t pop out and get lost when you open it up!

010

The disjointed spear!

There is only one spear head included, but you simply need to remove it from the straight spear and attach it to the disjointed one to pose her like this instead!

The handle doesn’t connect specifically to any point on the hand, so you are free to move it up and down and at any angle for all sorts of dynamic and epic poses!

011

All five Puella Magi Nendoroids!

With the release of Kyouko, all five of the Puella Magi Nendoroids will be released! You can finally complete your collection and display them all together like this!

A quick note about Nendoroid Sayaka – there were some problems that caused a limited number to come out of mass production, so you might have had trouble getting hold of her. Rest assured that more stock is on the way, and we apologize for the delay that may have been caused!
012

1/8th Scale Mami Tomoe &

Nendoroid Kyouko Sakura!

They’ll be on sale from today and tomorrow respectively!

Nendoroid Kuroyukihime

The relaxation room! (Also known as the meeting room :P)

001

Some beautiful flowers with a beautiful butterfly!

002

Today we’ll be playing with this lovely Nendoroid!

From Accel World:

Nendoroid Kuroyukihime!

From the popular anime series Accel World comes a Nendoroid of the beautiful and mysterious vice-president of the student council – Kuroyukihime! She even comes with her beautiful black wings that allow you to pose her in her butterfly form!

Plus, Haruyuki is also included in his cute pink pig form!

003

This is how she looks from the back!

Those huge butterfly wings are definitely one of the highlights of the figure! The wings look just like a real butterfly’s wing with tiny lines all over them, plus the tips of the wings make use of clear plastic which is absolutely beautiful! She will make use of an arm-type base that will connect through the middle of the wings and into her back.

Her wings cover a lot of her back here, but that by no means that her back is neglected in terms of quality – even without the wings she looks fantastic!
004

A pouting face with hands on her hips!

Normally Kuroyukihime has a very mature atmosphere about her, but she also gets jealous sometimes and gets this slightly more childish look – isn’t she adorable! Haruyuki’s round piggy body is also lovely!

006

A smiling face and closed parasol!

Kuroyukihime comes with a lovely parasol that matches her outfit perfectly! You can pose her like the picture above with the specially included arm parts, or you can hand it by the handle from her arm which looks just as cute!

005

An opened parasol is also included!

Wow! Isn’t she just gorgeous!! I love seeing such impressive optional parts with my Nendoroids!! Just look at the detail on the parasol- from the golden grip to the frills along the edge, plus it really matches her outfit perfectly!

007

Haruyuki getting some hugs!

Hey! Let me have a turn for hugs too!! 😛

Haruyuki comes with just one head but the two different bodies – you need to switch the head from the standing pose onto this pose!

008

Snow Miku tries the parasol!

The goth style of the parasol has an fancy look to it that should suit any characters that also wear fancy outfits! If I was any good with repainting I think I’d make a special icy parasol just for Snow Miku! 😛

But even just like this I think it’s more than cute enough – I’m sure it’ll look great with a lot of other Nendoroids as well!

002

From Accel World:

Nendoroid Kuroyukihime!

Nine Sculptors in an 11 Hour Figure Making Trial! (Sculpting – Part 2)

The GSC 11 Hour Figure Making Trial!

094

NicoNico Super Kaigi held at the Makuhari Messe on 28th & 29th of April!
In a showy corner of the Good Smile booth there were nine sculptors hard at work sculpting and painting a prototype Nendoroid in just 11 hours!

This is the diary of their challenge!!

112

The heroes of day one!

In part one we had a look at Oda-P and Nobu-san’s contributions, and today we’ll be looking at Katou-kun, Takanon and Hiro-san!

You can see part one here: http://gscmikatan.wordpress.com/2012/05/08/nine-sculptors-in-an-11-hour-figure-making-trial-sculpting-part-1/

001

The challenge is to create a prototype of this cute illustration!

Nendoroid Super Sonico: Tiger Hoodie Ver.!

Let’s take a look at what parts were made by the other three!

Katou-san
-> In charge of the headphones and back of the hair!003
(1) Katou-san carving headphones with a Leutor.
007
(2) Fixing up the headphones with putty. (`・ω・´)
012
(3) Katou-san still working on the headphones! (`・ω・´)
018
(4) Removing air bubbles from the surface! (`・ω・´)
101
(5) Adjusting the shape of the headphones! Looks difficult….
026
(6) Creating a perfectly flat surface. This is harder than it looks…
029
(7) Working on the wires of the headphones!

031
(8) The headphones are looking very detailed! Great work Katou-san!
036
(9) Careful adjustments to the surface of the headphones. (`・ω・´)

037
(10) Making the connecting part for the headphones!

041
(11) Here we have a part of the wires of the headphones!

049
(12) Bending the wire parts. (`・ω・´)

056
(13) Uh-oh! The headphone parts don’t fit on the head parts Oda-P made!! Luckily they are made from brass and can be adjusted!
057
(14) Reworking the headphones parts! (`・ω・´)

061
(15) The hair parts are handed over to Katou-san! They should be finished soon!
064
(16) The hair parts are looking very nice now! (`・ω・´)

073
(17) Working on the finer details of the back hair! Oda-P requested him to make it flow nicely!
078
(18) The wires are still too big, but this is how the headphones will attach!
109
(19) The fringe and headphones are pretty much complete! Great work guys!

084
(20) Balancing out the headphones and the back of the head.

086
(21) The surface of the back hair is also looking close to completion now!
111
(22) One of the tips on the hair broke off!! (゚o゚;;

That brings Katou-san’s section to an end!

Normally the headphones would have been made using 3D data, so doing them by hand took quite a few hours to complete – but they still come out great! Normally they headphones would be made together with the head part to get the right size, but that wasn’t an option in such a short amount of time, so the headphones ended up way too big at one stage as well!! Luckily our heroes were able to recover from the problem!

The broken piece in section 22 had a piece of putty stuck on which was then fixed up with a belt sander!

Hiro-san
-> In charge of the guitar and leg parts!
098
(1) Hiro-san working hard on the guitar.
005
(2) About to start work on the boots!
010
(3) Hiro-san does such delicate work with a craft knife! (`・ω・´)
100
(4) Smoothing out the guitar! Very quick for from Hiro-san!
023
(5) Making the fluffy top part of the boots! (`・ω・´)
027
(6) Boots! What minute detail!
102
(7) Carefully carving on the surface of the guitar. (`・ω・´)
038
(8) Starting work on the tiny hand that will hold the guitar!
043
(9) A bit hard to see on this photo, but Hiro-san is carving out the fluffy top texture onto the boots! (`・ω・´)047
(10) More adjustments to the fluffy boots! Hiro-san is incredible to watch!
052
(11) The guitar shape is starting to come out nicely!
060
(12) Hiro-san still working on the fluffy top part of the boots!
062
(13) The boots are finally starting to look complete! They’re so cute!
107
(14) Small adjustments are made to the guitar shape. (`・ω・´)

065
(15) A bit out of focus, but here is Hiro-san’s base guitar!

071
(16) Now we move onto the finer details of the guitar!

074
(17) The guitar is really starting to look incredible!!
077
(18) Hiro-san’s guitar is absolutely outstanding!!

080
(19) Spraying surfacer onto the arm!
089
(20) Each of the parts is covered with surfacer!

That brings Hiro-san’s section to an end!!

Just like the headphones, the guitar would normally have been sculpted with 3D data, so having it done with such minute detail by hand is absolutely incredible to see!

By the way, Hiro-san is normally not a part of the Nendoroid team at all and normally only works on scale figures! He was really amazing and quick with the work, even under the time pressure!!

Takanon
-> In charge of the skirt and helping out with other areas!
099
(1) Takanon is hardening the lower body parts!
006
(2) Making the skirt, carefully checking for symmetry! (`・ω・´)
011
(3) Looks symmetrical now! Now to work on the skirt!
017
(4) Carefully watching the symmetry, Takanon starts carving out the skirt!
028
(5) Takanon making progress with the skirt!
034
(6) Carefully carving the curves of the skirt!
040
(7) The skirt is starting to look good!
044
(8) Cleaning and smoothing out the skirt!
048
(9) The skirt is nearly finished! Takanon is also super fast with a craft knife!
053
(10) Adding creases to the skirt!
069
(11) Marking some part of the skirt… parts of a pocket?(`・ω・´)
110
(12) Working on the fluffy part of the skirt!
081
(13) The skirt is getting some more detail!
085
(14) Cleaning up the surface of the skirt. (`・ω・´)

That brings Takanon’s section to an end!!

Doi-san from Nitroplus actually sent through all the details about the skirt just before Takanon started work so that it could be exactly to the correct specifications!!

Under great pressure Takanon did great, powered by the smiles of everyone who came by to take a look at the booth! Just looking at him so relaxed under the circumstances even made me feel more relaxed!

But what happens when we put the parts together…?

070

15:30: 5 hours and 30min have past!

079

17:00: 7 hours have past!

090

And finally…!

091

The Sonico Prototype!!

Excellent work to everyone who worked on it!!

Oono from the Web team who was commentating on the challenge literally burst into tears when the final product was revealed! I was quite close myself! 😛

Until the very end the nervous question of how it was going to come out was constantly in the air, but watching everyone work on the sculpting so diligently was truly inspiring! I realized just what incredible individuals each and every one of them are! Just look how incredible the figure came out in just a few hours!!

However!

This isn’t the end of the challenge! After the broadcast the figure had to go back to Matsudo for adjustments to ensure that the final product adheres to the standard quality that our customers have come to expect. After that the figure will then return the next day for painting!

We’ll take a look at that next time!!

Studio Ghibli x Max Factory x Kaiyodo x Good Smile – Giant God Warrior Figures!

001

That’s a prototype box…!?

I don’t think I’ve ever had a prototype that is almost the same height as my desk! I remember the Yu-Gi-Oh! dragon being pretty huge, but it is nothing in comparison to the figure we’ll be looking at today!

002

From ‘Giant God Warrior Appears in Tokyo’:

Giant God Warrior Vignette,

figma Giant God Warrior &

Giant God Warrior Statue Replica!

From Studio Ghibli’s newest short special effects film titled ‘Giant God Warrior Appears in Tokyo’ that was screened at the Anno Hideaki’s Special Effects exhibition comes various different figures of the Giant God Warrior that invades Tokyo. These figures really are something else…!!!

They will be on sale at the exhibition “Anno Hideaki’s Special Effects Museum – View Techniques of the Showa Period in Miniature”

Dates: 2012/07/10 (Tues) ~ 2012/10/08 (Mon) From 10:00 ~ 18:00. Entrance permitted up to 30min before closing.
Place: Tokyo Gendai Art Gallery – Planning Exhibition Room 1F/B2F
〒1335-0022 Tokyo, Koutou-ku, Miyoshi 4-1-1
www.mot-art-museum.jp/

These figures will be on sale at this event! I’m got to find some private time and go there myself!! ^^

003

Big, smaller, smallest!

The biggest version is the Giant God Warrior Statue Replica, and its considerably bigger than my monitor! To the right of him is the figma, and then the Vignette version as well!

004

Giant God Warrior Statue Replica!

He is so big that the lights on the ceiling ended up in the photo as well. A huge 50cm cold-cast statue!

This is a miniature mock-up of a life-size muppet that was used in the film ‘Giant God Warrior Appears in Tokyo’! The life-size version was used for reference and examination while sculpting this smaller replica version!

The sculpting was done by Takayuki Takeya! (`・ω・´)ゞ

005

What an amazing presence…!!

I really have no idea how to describe it, but once you see it you just can’t look away. I was also stunned at how detailed it was while I was running my finger over it a few seconds ago…

I’m generally more of a fan of cute things, but the sculpting on this is so stunning it’s impossible to not to be impressed!

006

figma Giant God Warrior!

This is basically the same figure shrunk down to figma size and made just as posable as all other figmas! It’s amazing what kind of poses you can put him into! Plus the price is great!

007

An optional head part to fire the proton beam!

By the way, this is a 15cm tall figma! The head alone is more than 2cm tall!! An amazing size and stunning quality to boot!!

008

A rod of light and wing parts!

It might be hard to see from this angle, but the wing span of the wings is actually very big! Plus the wings are just as detailed as the rest of the figure!

You can make use of the figma stand to pose him in mid-air like this, which gives the wing parts that extra bit of realism! I almost want to get a whole bunch of these to line them all up together like this!! 😛

009

Three different Giant God Warrior Vignettes!

These prototypes literally just arrived! They might be small but they are just as amazing as the other versions! As I mentioned on twitter yesterday, these were the products we were going back and forth with, together with Kaiyodo.

These are in fact Kaiyodo’s products!! (`・ω・´)ゞ

They are about the size of a capsule toy, but they are absolutely fantastic quality! As expected of Kaiyodo!

Those who saw him at WonFes will know who I mean! Finally the time has come to take a closer look at him!

The title and optional parts may have given it away, but today we’ll be taking a look at this lovely Nendoroid! (`・ω・´)

002

Nendoroid Kamui Gakupo!

The Nendoroid of the popular virtual vocalist is finally here! The original illustration of Kamui was by Berserk’s author, Kentarou Miura, and the Nendoroid can take the pose of the illustration perfectly!

003

This is how he looks from the back!

From this angle you can see Gakupo’s lovely long ponytail! It is fitted with a Nendoroid joint for some lovely posing as well! The samurai-esque outfit also looks lovely from the back – you can even see the symbol on his back which is the kanji for ‘enjoy’.

004

His sword, Gakutou Mifuri!

You can display the sword drawn from its scabbard! The sword is in fact not a weapon at all, but in fact a musical instrument!

The detail on the sword is incredibly detailed – the red and green pattern along it is beautiful!!

005

The pose from the packaging!

Two bent arms along with a half-drawn sword are both included as optional parts!
The original illustration has a lovely artistic image about it, but the Nendoroid has come out super cute!

I must admit that I can’t help but wonder what he would look like with the glossy lips – I’ll have to play around a bit it when I get hold of the non-prototype version.

009

A folding fan with the same kanji!

Even with a rather fancy bumpy design, there is still a lovely print on it! Gakupo himself is amazing, but the small details on the little accessories like the fan and headphone are just as incredible!

     ____

| ∪ (__人__) |
/ ∩ノ ⊃ /
( \ / _ノ | |
.\ “ /__| |

If you were wondering that, then you really pay close attention to detail! 😛

This article only features the bent leg, but the figure does include two straight legs for more standard poses!

You’ll have the choice between a straight leg or the bent leg!

006

The feudal lord face, sitting parts and the eggplant to ride on!

A truly incredible scene! I don’t think the picture does it justice, you just have to see it for yourself! The balance of the figure is stunning and he is just so cute!!

Although a quick note about the eggplant… at the beginning of this post there was a picture of the eggplant alone – but the final product may have the sitting parts connected as a single part.

002

Nendoroid Kamui Gakupo!

He’ll be up for preorder from tomorrow!! Yay!

If you have any preorder or sales questions be sure to get in contact with out partner shops!

Nine Sculptors in an 11 Hour Figure Making Trial! (Sculpting – Part 1)

28th & 29th of April 2012!

NicoNico Super Kaigi!

092

The first ever Super Kaigi was held at the Makuhari Messe and Good Smile had their own booth at the event!! (`・ω・´)
Plus the booth was very big!! It was about the same size as the WonHobby booth at WonFes – even about the same size as the giant labyrinth that Bushiroad made!

093

Here we have the GSC Booth!

The Good Smile Cafe and Indotei were both there as well serving delicious food! There was even a resting corner with tables and chairs for people to relax in!

In this photo you can see replicas of the 0-car and the 4-car which were also on display along with new and upcoming figures. It was a very bustling booth for the whole event!

094

The one corner of the booth featured this interesting section!

The GSC 11 Hour Figure Making Trial!

Nine sculptors worked together to create an 11 hour sculpting and painting marathon, where a prototype was completed in just 11 hours!

095

I’ve seen this before!!

A counter suitable for champions! This timer will count down the 11 hours to make sure they don’t go over the allocated time!

112

The heroes of day one!

These five sculptors will be working on sculpting all the parts of the figure!

As mentioned on the live broadcast, a normal Nendoroid prototype takes about 2-3 months of sculpting!

To complete that in just 11 hours is really a test of skill! (I do wonder why they all look like prisoners, though :P)

113

The figure they will be sculpting in 11 hours is this lovely Nendoroid!

Nendoroid Super Sonico : Tiger Hoodie Ver.

Nitroplus’ mascot character, Super Sonico-chan, wearing the fan favorite Tiger spotted hoodie! Normally the headphones and guitar would be sculpted with 3D data, but this time around they will all be sculpted by hand!

001

A base Nendoroid body!

This will be used as a base for the sculpting – making use of this as the basic frame ensures the figure will keep the proportions and balance of the Nendoroid series!

The making of the figure was updated in real time on a NicoNico Live Broadcast and twitter!

Both of those followed a specific time frame, but here on the blog today we’ll be taking a look at each part as it was made! The pictures and text are all borrowed from the Nutty of the production team’s twitter account!

Name: Oda-P
In charge of : Fringe parts, back of hair parts and face parts.002
(1) Oda-P begins work on the hair parts.

004
(2) Oda-P carving away hair parts with a belt sander.

008
(3) Oda-P’s craft-knife work is quick but careful.

013
(4) Oda-P is quickly getting the shape of the fringe parts!

015
(5) Oda-P still working on the fringe parts!

019
(6) Face complete! Oda-P is so quick, its incredible!

(7) Oda-P is now checking the volume of the hair is correct.

025
(8) Oda-P with a dangerous weapon! Or perhaps he is just making rough cuts on the hair…

030
(9) The reverse side of the hair is starting to take shape!

032
(9) The putty for her side hair has been attached. (`・ω・´)

035
(10) Oda-P is incredibly fast! Sonico is already starting to take form! (`・ω・´)

039
(11) Oda-P starts work on the mouth!

042
(12) Oda-P is now molding the side-hair into shape! (`・ω・´)

046
(13) The head part is already looking mostly finished! (´◉◞౪◟◉`) < Caterpie

050
(14) Making adjustments and cleaning up the surface of the hair.

055
(15) Oda-P fixing up the shape of the hair and removing bubbles from the putty! He is so fast!

059
(16) Oda-P begins work on Sonico’s cute little teeth! (`・ω・´)

063
(17) Oda-P has completed the teeth! So cute!! (*^◯^*)

068
(18) Oda-P is now doing the finishing touches on the hair and face!

108
(19) More adjustments to the fringe. It looks like it is coming out beautifully!

076
(20) Oda-P says ‘You probably can’t even see the small changes anymore’.
But it looks great!!

082
(21) Oda-P makes a tiny little guitar pick in her hand!

087
(22) Oda-P draws on some eyes for the prototype! So cute!!!

That brings the Oda-P section to an end!
The fringe and face parts are where most attention is normally focused on a figure, so normally they go through an incredibly fine and detailed sculpting process… in just seven hours Oda-P managed to create such a wonderful prototype of them! It’s absolutely incredible!

The back hair parts Oda-P was working on will reappear when Katou gets hold of them while working on the headphones at a later stage. The cooperative work that had to be organized on the fly is just another thing that made the challenge so amazing!

Nobu-san
In charge of : main body and hoodie.
097
(1) Nobu-san begins work on the body! (`・ω・´)

009
(2) Nobu-san mixing epoxy putty! What will it become…? (`・ω・´)

014
(3) Nobu-san is moving on with the body!

016
(4) The body is starting to take shape! Nobu-san is also very quick at this!

020
(5) Rough sculpting of the legs begins! (`・ω・´)

021
(6) Nobu-san connecting pieces onto the body. (`・ω・´)

024
(7) Nobu-san cleaning up the body with a file!

033
(8) Nobu-san says ‘The putty is still drying while I try work so it keeps breaking… (´・ω・`)’. Working on a clock makes it a lot more stressful…

045
(9) Nobu-san working hard on the body! Making use of his own body to confirm poses!

103
(10) Reinforcing areas for working on Sonico’s clothes.

051
(11) Nobu-san confirms poses on the actual Nendoroid stand. (`・ω・´)

104
(12) Boobies! Nobu-san is creating Sonico’s sexy body using epoxy putty!

105
(13) Nobu-san starts work on the hoodie! It’s amazing to think this glob of putty will eventually become a hoodie!

106
(14) Nobu-san is sculpting rough versions of the hoodie! (`・ω・´)

066
(15) It’s starting to look like a hoodie! *・゜゜・*:.。..。.:*・'(*゜▽゜*)’・*:.

067
(16) The clothes are starting to take form now! Nobu-san is amazing with his hands!

072
(17) Nobu-san working on the molding of the clothes! He must be nearing the finish line!

075
(18) Nobu-san says, ‘It’s tough as all the clothes are all a single part’. But they’re coming out so wonderfully!

083
(19) The clothes are coming out beautifully! (`・ω・´)

That brings Nobu-san’s section to an end!
His section involved getting the basic body ready and able to take poses, the overall balance of the body and then he also worked on the clothes and hoodie! Lots of work in such a short amount of time!!

Plus while he was working on the joint of the shoulders the putty constantly wasn’t able to dry fast enough and kept breaking off… it was a very stressful event…! But there was a wonderful recovery thereafter and he managed to catch up in the second half of the work! As expected of a Nendoroid sculptor! ^^

Kuroyagi-san’s Letter Corner: Cherry Blossom Special #2! (Number 62)

Golden Week has come to an end!

  \ |_______|

I’m sure there were quite a few people around Japan that did just that. 😛 I’ve done it myself a number of times…. (and ended up super late for work.)

But anyway, whether you had a great holiday or you worked through the week – May is here and we need to start working as hard as ever once again!

Today we’re going to be continuing with this corner!

Kuroyagi-san’s Letter Corner: Cherry Blossom Special #2!

The previous Cherry Blossom Special can be found over here!
http://gscmikatan.wordpress.com/2012/04/19/kuroyagi-sans-letter-corner-cherry-blossom-special-1-number-61/

My very first attempt at sending a photo through to you! This year Spring was very short here in Shanghai, but I did get to see some beautiful cherry blossoms!

A couple were in full bloom at the nearby park, so I went and took some photos with Shinobu – replacing the donut with a flower! (*・ω・*)ノ

   - Shangai Nekoko

013

I hope you’re still collecting cherry blossom photos! I took a photo of my own so I thought i’d send it through. (It’s a Gift product though, not Good Smile!) I hope you enjoy it!

   - Buchalati

004

The cherry blossoms this year were so beautiful I just had to take Miku out to see them as well! It was my first attempt at photography so I wasn’t very confident, but I think it came out quite cute in the end, so I decided to send it through to you!

   - Saushingu

001

Once again I’m really enjoying your cherry blossom special! I’m sure the photos get more beautiful every year!

I went out myself and decided to let Erio play in the cherry blossoms scattering the floor! I applied a soft filter to try recreate the atmosphere around Erio as well, what do you think?

   - D_yashi

007

I came all the way from Nagoya to Tokyo to meet some Nendoroid friends! ♪ It was a load of fun, and I can’t wait to go again!

I also grabbed some pictures with Menma while I was there, she is so cute!!

   - Jyaiko

021

My Miku and I went out to see the cherry blossoms! Looks like she was practicing hidden behind the blossoms, but I found her!

   - Yukan Ryoubo

002

In the last photo corner there were so many photos of Millhi and Yune that I thought looked wonderful, so I decided to go out myself and take some photos.

What an adorable Princess she is! Both her and Harlan are a blast to play with!

   - Mahokona

006

A photo from Yasukuni Shrine! Youmu suits the cherry blossoms so well… myon!

   - Junosora

010

The cherry blossoms were amazingly beautiful around my neighborhood when I woke up this morning! I dashed out together with Gumako who found them so beautiful she even took a break from eating her favorite udon!

   - Suzu Akai

012

Hello from Berlin! I’m going to try my hand at writing this mail in Japanese! I hope that it isn’t too late to send in some cherry blossom photos!

Today I went out with my friend and boyfriend to enjoy the cherry blossoms – it was my very first time doing so! Of course I took a Nendoroid along with me! The photos are taken at Berlin Teltow in an area that I have named the ‘TV Asahi Cherry Blossom Peace Road’! I was quite surprised when I brought the Nendoroid out, as some others around also took from photos of her!

   - jiejie

003

I heard that one of my friends photos was placed up on Mikatan Blog and was really upset that he hadn’t told me that he was doing something that seemed so fun! I decided I had to take some pictures of some cherry blossoms and Miku for myself as well – I hope you enjoy them!

I knew I had to be quick otherwise the blossoms would all have fallen from the trees, so I dashed out in a slight drizzle to  grab a few photos… I wanted to take some more, but the rain started to pour down a lot harder after awhile, so I took some blossoms home with me and used them for a few more photos. I’ll be sure to send any interesting photos I take in the future though to you as well!

   - Anonymous

005

I always carry Nendoroids around with me, but this time around I decided to take Sakura with for sakura (cherry blossom) photos!

The first day I came by for photos the blossoms had only half bloomed, so I came back a few days later but then the wind was too strong for a reliable photo… they all came out blurry! So I came back once again a few days later and finally got a photo! I went through quite a lot to get it in the end…

   - DANDE☆Lion

017

This year the fully blooming blossoms were all knocked off their branches my the heavy rain that came around at the same time… I decided that photos would be impossible for this year and gave up. But a few days later I found a cherry blossom tree that still had some beautiful blossoms, so I managed to grab some photos after all!

Cherry blossoms are linked with fun times and drinking, and when it comes to drinking who is better than Suika! ^^ Here she is climbing up a tree looking rather drunk… perhaps not the safest place for her to be! Later on I looked up and found the blossoms here are in fact called bridegrooms, but Wikipedia said they were a type of cherry blossom, so I hope they will do!

   - Kuraki

008

I wasn’t sure if I’d make it in time for part two of the cherry blossom special, but here is my entry anyway!

A photo taken at my neighborhood park together with Azunyan in her kimono!

   - Yomogi

009

I saw the latest Kuroyaki Letter Corner with all the beautiful cherry blossoms, but they still had not bloomed near me… but now they finally have! … and then it started raining… (´・ω・`)

But even through the drizzle, I decided to take some photos! This year’s cherry blossoms are beautiful!

  - KUREHA

011

I’m fairly certain Ohana would continue working throughout the Spring without ever taking some time to enjoy the cherry blossoms… but she would definitely be thinking she wants to go see them!

That was the scene I was trying to create with this photo! ^^

   - Magane Kirari

014

Sorry it’s late! Here is my cherry blossom photo for this year! I didn’t get to take this picture last year, but I had to do it this year! A photo of my Haru-chan and the cherry blossoms in my local park!

   - Tsukintokkai Nanpyon

015

I’ve been looking forward to the cherry blossoms all year, so I had to send one of my own through as well – I headed out with my camera and Precia to get some photos! Last year I used the cherry blossoms as a background, but this time I decided to take a photo with the blossoms up nice and close, so I went out with a stepladder to get nice and close!

In the end I think it was more about me taking photos of Priecia than it was me taking photos of the cherry blossoms and a figure. I guess this is what they call love!

   - Spin

016

I live close by to an area that is quite famous for it’s cherry blossoms, so I had to go out and take some photos!

The photo shows off Haru-chan creating the very first cherry blossoms blooms of the season! I didn’t get to take a photo last year, so it feels like I’ve been waiting forever to take this picture!

   - Ander B

018

From the 15th to the 19th April, I went on a trip to Shirakawagou, Yuwaku hot-springs, Kenroku Gardens and the Noto Peninsula, I took some shoddy photos along the way, so I thought I’d send them through for you to enjoy. The cherry blossoms around Shirakawagou and Yuwaku were not really blooming yet, but at the Kenroku Gardens and Noto Peninsula they were pretty much in full bloom and incredibly beautiful! I didn’t have the courage to bring my Nendoroids out in public as a tourist to the area, so I had to do it quietly when nobody else was around. ^^

I enjoyed looking through everyone else’s beautiful photos and learned a lot from them, and I’ll be sure to work on my pictures while enjoying my trips in the future!

   - Mokke

019

In the Letter Corner on the 19th April you mentioned that ‘The bigger the images, the better!’, but what size and filesize is that exactly? Also, I zipped up multiple images together this time around, but I’m sure it’s best to not send too many through at once… I tried to shrink them down a bit myself, but what would be ideal when sending images through to you? I apologize if I sent something incorrectly through to you!

Mikatan:
Simply put, any image with a width larger than 515px is perfect, and you are welcome to send multiple pictures or just one!
If the image is below 3MB then I am certain it will reach me without any problems!

That said, you’re sending your stunning pictures through to the blog, so I’m never going to be picky! There are no rules at all! (Besides photos that make the figures or series look bad in some way, or go against public order in some way.) If you send picture through to me, I’ll always take a look at them with great excitement, so please send them through – whether they are from PC or cellphone, I’ll always be happy to see them!

Last year I went out in the afternoon with Kiririn to see the cherry blossoms, but this year I decided to go out for some nighttime viewing with Miku! Nightime photography is much harder than I expected…

   - Babystar

020

I wasn’t able to go out to enjoy the cherry blosoms this year! (T_T)
But instead, my girlfriend became a cherry blossom herself!

I had a little photo session in my local park with Menma!

It was my first attempt at outdoor figure photography and it was much harder than I expected, but to remember my attempt I got a nice picture of a confident looking Menma! The picture was taken on my cellphone, so I apologize for the quality – I also hope it did attach correctly…. ;_;

While I was being worked to death the cherry blossoms around my house had already bloomed and fallen to the ground. After the work I decided to go to Ikomayama and luckily the blossoms there were still blooming beautifully!

I wanted to have a little drinking party under the blossoms with MEIKO, but I was driving so I had to leave the drinking to her. I hope I can drink along with her next year!

025

That brings this Kuroyagi-san’s Letter Corner to an end! I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to put in all the photos that were sent to me!

A big thanks to everyone who sent in mail!!

There were cherry blossom photos not only from Japan, but from fans all over the world as well! I already can’t wait to see next year’s photos! 😛

As always, I’m always looking for more mail from readers!
If you have any questions, photos, product requests, want to talk about what you ate today, if you’re suffering from May Fever or anything else! No matter what you want to talk about, send it through to me

Nendoroid Princess of the Crystal

The GSC meeting table display shelf!

001

It’s filled with Nendoroid Petites with cute penguins dancing around them!!

    / ー‐ ィ

Today we’ll be taking a look at the Nendoroid that featured on today’s live broadcast, and who will be coming up for preorder soon:

002

From Mawaru Penguindrum:

Nendoroid Princess of the Crystal!

A Nendoroid of the mysterious character that appeared whenever Himari put on the penguin hat! Every detail about her and her outfit has been preserved in Nendoroid form, and you can even recreate the famous scene where she descends from the stairs!

She also comes with penguins 1, 2 and 3!
These penguins were so cute in the series that I huge felt like hugging them every time I saw them – the Nendoroid versions have come out just as cute, and they’re so fun to play with!

003

This is how she looks from the back!

The long ‘tails’ on her hat are connected with Nendoroid joints for some interesting poses – you can move them back and forward for some really dynamic poses! The little white balls at the end of them also have a really nice paint coating that make them look like little pearls – they look absolutely gorgeous!

The penguins of course are all labeled on their backs with the white magic marker!

004

The transformation scene!

One thing almost everyone remembers about Penguindrum is the amazing transformation scene! I’m glad the head of planning for this figure, Shuu-chan, thought to include all sorts of parts to help recreate the transformation process in Nendoroid form!

A shouting face, bent arm, and puffed out skirt to recreate her arrival pose! (・Θ・)キュ

005

Step one of the transformation!

Both arms lifted up in the air with one bent leg stepping forward! You can also bent the hat joints back to really create a pose filled with dynamic energy!!

She even comes with clear effect parts on her upper arm to show the frills disappearing as a part of her transformation! Σ(・∀・ )

006

Walking gracefully down the stairs!

Another scene that will stick in many fans minds is that of the Princess slowly stepping down the stairs! You can pose her with her hands on her waist to bring the pose together perfectly!

009

Step three of the transformation!

The frills on her arms, skirt and scarf have all disappeared at this stage of the transformation! It is a prototype, so I couldn’t be too rough with my poses, but on the final version I’m sure you could bend her neck back even further!

007

“Shall we initiate the survival strategy?”

She can even stand on top of penguin #1 and #3!

A very important pose! The stand included is the normal arm stand, but it allows you to easily recreate this pose! Of course #2 needs to stand behind to press the button to drop the visitors!

The panties that she shows off so openly are of course lovely triple-laced panties!

008

Her hat can be completely removed!

Normally it wouldn’t really make sense to remove the hat while Himari is in this form…. but with a figure, it doesn’t matter! It’s amazing how much more she suddenly looks like Himari-chan once you remove the hat!

To help recreate the Takakura household, I found a low dining table! It suits her so well – now I just need to find some curry to place on the table with her!

002

From Mawaru Penguindrum:

Nendoroid Princess of the Crystal!
