Normally I can grab figures before they head off to China, but sometimes the timing just doesn’t work out… luckily I got them just in time this time around!

Nendoroid Petite:

Nanoha & Fate: Summer Memories Set!

From the movie ‘Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The MOVIE 1st’ comes a set of two Nendoroid petites – one of Nanoha Takamachi and the other of Fate Testarossa, both posed in a cute scene from the sunny seaside!

Summer may be coming to an end now… but let me just say one thing…
Swimsuits are great in any season!!

This is how the look from the back!

Nanoha and Fate are holding hands along the beach! The points where their hair comes out are all fitted with joints so you can pose the hair around in any position you like!

A floating tube is included as an extra!

You can either just leave it by their side as part of the base, or you you have one of them wear it like this! It has a shiny paint job that really makes it look like a real miniature tube!

You have to have a beach ball at the beach!

The ball is meant to just sit on the base so it wouldn’t quite stay in her hand – but I just used some double-sided tape to keep it in place! The prototype figures of both Fate and Nanoha are both poseable at the thighs as well! Assuming that goes through to the final product, you’ll be able to make lovely poses like this one!

They can try on each others swimsuits!

One of the great things about Nendoroid Petites is the ability to switch around heads with other Nendoroid Petites! It doesn’t really matter what these two wear though, they’ll always be adorable!

Miku-san also tries on the swimsuit!

The colors seems to match her so perfectly that I just had to try! You can try it out with your favorite Petite Nendo characters as well!

Nendoroid Petite: ClariS Set – irony Ver.!

Nendoroid Petite: ClariS Set – irony Ver.!

ClariS is an idol unit consisting of two middle school girls – Clara and Alice! A little while back the anime music magazine ‘Risuani!’ included a CD of some of ClariS’ music, and soon after they had a major debut into the idol world!

If you’re an anime fan then it is very likely that you do! They have sung famous songs such as…

They are singing some wonderful songs that are really getting them noticed in the idol world!

This is how they look from the back!

We’ve never been able to see the back of their adorable little avatars – this is the wonderful part about figures! Clara’s wavy hair and Alice’s long straight hair both look adorable in Nendoroid form!

By the way!
Currently, no real photos of ClariS have been revealed!

The two girls are always represented by famous illustrator’s renditions of them… Hiro Kanzaki, Ume Aoki and Meru Kishida have all illustrated the ClariS duo, but we’ve never seen what they really look like!

But… that’s the Nendoroid illustration!! (*ﾟ∀ﾟ)=3
The CD ‘nexus’ that comes out tomorrow features the Nendoroid illustration on the cover!

Clara focuses more on the pink!

She has her one hand to her hip in a very adorable looking pose!! Her shoulders do of course have joints in them, so you can lift her hands up a bit if you like.

While Alice focuses more on the blue!

As you can see, her hat and legs are posed to mirror Clara’s figure! The paint work on them is also incredibly detailed – I think the production team are going to have quite a job getting them mass produced! 😛 The little ribbons on their gloves are so tiny, yet so detailed – and the stripes on the skirts look so nice!

As I mentioned at the start of the article, that is the opening song to ‘Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai”. I decided to pose them on top of the irony CD! Don’t you think it looks good!? ^^

Linkin Park x Good Smile : A Thousand Horizons Event!

Roppongi nicofarre!

The 9th September 2011 (Friday)
The collaboration event between Linkin Park and GOODSMILE COMPANY called ‘A Thousand Horizons ‘ was hosted at the next generation live house – nicofarre!

The event was a charity event to raise money for those affected by the earthquake and tsunami in the Tohoku region, and featured two separate parts. The first part was a video show that made use of previously unseen video footage from Linkin Park music videos, while the second part was a special art film that combines remixes of ‘A Thousand Suns’ with nicofarre’s unique visual effects! After the show, Linkin Park’s members were also around for a talk session!

Unfortunately I was busy with work, so I was only able to join in from the second part! I had never been to nicofarre before, plus I’m a big Linkin Park fan, so I was really looking forward to it!

A fancy looking gate right by the entrance!

The gate itself was kind of a giant video with fancy visual effects! It was really incredible! The floor was also all lit up creating an absolutely stunning atmosphere to walk in to.

Through the gate was the area for live performances!

It really seemed like a great place to watch a live as well – it was about 1.3x the size of a classroom, and was easy to see the front from pretty much anywhere!

The entire back here is made up of LED lights!

This is the nicofarre everyone is always talking about!
These LED lights showed all kinds of images as well as people’s comments about the event – it really built up the tension!! Akiyama-san here seems to be caught up in it as well! 😛

There was a little time left before the second part started…
So I went to check out the lobby!

Most of the people had already moved into the event hall for the second part, so it looks a little bit lonely here, but trust me when I say that there were so many people in here earlier that it was almost impossible to move around!

All kinds of equipment for the show!!!!

I really wasn’t sure what kind of performance to expect for my first time at nicofarre. Lots of people both from within GSC and staff from other companies came through to help out with the preparations for the event! dwango was a big help during the event!

This was of course run all by Good Smile! The T-shirts the staff are wearing are the same T-shirts that were on sale at the event!

The iPhone cases had the logo of the event printed on it, and the BE＠RBRICK was a special original design by Linkin Park! They were super popular!

There was also a donation box being held by a giant BE＠RBRICK – a big thank you to everyone who donated!

Generally speaking, no photography was allowed in the event hall, but I just took some ‘official’ pictures. ^^ The incredible visual effects of nicofarre being used for the first public display of this special remix version!

Enter, Linkin Park!

After the special art film had been shown, Joe Hahn, Chester Bennington, Mike Shinoda and Phoenix all came out for a talk session! The MC for the event was Chris Peppler! It was wonderful!

This event was the very first display of the illustrations that they will be based on! But what do the Linkin Park guys think of them???

One of the questions that popped up from them was ‘will the turntables actually turn?’ – of course Gakkun is now confident that he will get them to turn! I knew we could count on you, Gakkun!!

The end of the event!

After this the Linkin Park members came down from the stage and gave autographs to the audience! What a wonderful thing to do, even with their big Japan Tour coming up the next day!!

It’s hard to put into words just how wonderful the event was. I really, really enjoyed myself! I’m also really happy to see people from all over the world helping to support Japan in its time of need – it gives me the courage to carry on myself! If we work to put a smile on everybody’s face, then eventually the whole world will be smiling!

We at GSC will do our best to make more and more people smile!!

1/8th Scale Tsubasa Hanekawa

Long time no see! It’s finally back to really being Mikatan’s Blog! I was just busy traveling some other world lines, but I’m back now!

I hope everyone enjoyed the sudden ‘Mikatan Blog Takeover’! I actually saw a lot of photos from angles I’d never thought of using before, and ended up learning a few things myself! Thanks to everyone who took over for the past few entries!! But now I’ve got the baton back from Shuu-chan, and I’m ready to do the blog as normal, so let’s go! (`･ω･´)つ

The good thing is, it’s very easy to find new treasures!
The figure that Gakkun was in charge of is finally heading out to everyone!

The 4th in the 1/8th scale Bakemonogatari Series:

Tsubasa Hanekawa!

She is from the popular anime series, ‘Bakemonogatari’. and follows on from the previously released figures of Senjougahara Hitagi, Nadeko Sengoku and Suruga Kanbaru!

She looks almost too good to be a sale sample!!

As you can see, Tsubasa-nee is at just as incredible as the previous figures! The final product has come out almost identical to the master prototype figure!

I’m sure any girl that has ever worn a school uniform will agree with me – the way that skirt id fluttering up is super realistic! Sculptors are so incredible at their work!!

Tsubasa’s soft, gentle expression!

She has such a graceful expression, along with her trademark round-framed glasses! This photo is enlarged a bit, so you can see just how her eyes are drawn – they are really beautiful and look all shiny!

It’s not only her expression that looks soft!

The petticoat is also beautifully sculpted!

Then we move on my personal favorite part of this figure – that hand! The fingers are so finely sculpted, it’s just incredible. You have to see it for yourself!

You can almost see, and yet just not… so close, yet so far…
That fine line is so wonderful!

Plus… that hand! That hand is just outstanding!! The way it’s trying to hide whatever is beneath that skirt just makes me even more exited!

Curled up toes!

The scale sculptors at GSC often pick up a few changes from other GSC staff, and I remember hearing this conversation between Kawapon and Aki…

I was actually really happy to hear this! This is a really important part of Tsubasa-nee!!

Her fringe can be replaced with a cat-ears fringe!

This of course allows you to recreate the front cover of the 5th volume BD/DVD – Tsubasa Cat! You can pick whether you prefer normal Tsubasa or cat Tsubasa! I’m definitely a fan of the cat ears myself!

These are actually Lat-type Miku’s glasses! They aren’t included with Tsubasa! 😛

Make a contract with me!

Her glasses can of course be removed as well! She really is a beauty with or without them, isn’t she?

You can also take her off the desk!

But Tsubasa does connect to the table with a little plastic stud – she isn’t like Kanbaru who simply balances on the stand. You can pose her off the stand and with something in front of her knees and it makes her just look like another standing figure.

Another thing to notice is the wooden texture on the table and chair!
Just as all the previous figures in the 1/8th scale Bakemonogatari series, Tsubasa is no exception!

A rather interesting atmosphere!

School uniforms, school desk, glasses and boy’s love books… makes you wonder what exactly is going on! I wonder if there really is an all-girls school with a scene like this in it…!! 😛

Cheerful Japan! Part 5 : Nendoroid Kurisu Makise & Mayuri Shiina: Cheerful Ver.

The Mikatan Blog Takeover that started last week is still going on!

The ping pong table – where all sorts of treasures accumulate! It is also where we will find the product I’ll be introducing to everyone today!

Nendoroid Kurisu Makise & Mayuri Shiina: Cheerful Ver.
Of course the ‘Cheerful Ver.’ gives away that this is part of the ‘Cheerful JAPAN!‘ project!

The damage that has occurred during the March 11 quake in the Touhoku region is astounding, and in order to get over the destruction caused there is a lot that needs to be done, and lots of support that needs to be given. Good Smile Company has formed a support group named ‘Cheerful Japan’ which will strive to support the relief efforts for as long as possible. For at least 1 year we be releasing charity products among other efforts to raise donation money for the cause. To everyone who supports the Cheerful Japan movement – thank you, and know that your money is going where it is needed!

In the 5th month of Cheerful Japan, you can grab…
Nendoroid Kurisu Makise & Mayuri Shiina: Cheerful Ver!

They are from the popular game and anime series, Steins;Gate – but they are dressed up in cheerleader outfits instead of their normal clothes!

This is also the first Cheerful JAPAN! product to come in a set of two!

First up we’ll look at Christiiiiiina! by Kyouma Hououin
She has pompons and a worried face!

This also makes use of the pompon holding hands and a bent right leg for a cheerleader pose. The pompons really are ideal to add to the cheerfulness of the Cheerful Ver. Nendoroids – that yellow is such a happy color! She also has a worried expression with a slight little blush – as everyone knows Kurisu wouldn’t want to be seen wearing this outfit!

The cheerleader outfit also has some nice little opening between giving you a little peek at her belly and a nice view of her thighs! （´ω｀＊）

Next up, we take a look at Tutulu~ ♪ Mayushii!
She has a megaphone and a (´・ω・｀)-face!

She is posed with her a hand made specially to hold the megaphone! Mayushii is using a megaphone to cheer, and my personal favorite (´・ω・｀)-Face which is designed to go along with the Wonder Festival version of Nendoroid Kurisu Makise, who had an equally wonderful ヽ(*ﾟдﾟ)ノ -Face. These expressions work so well on Nendoroids!

She is also super popular with all the girls here at GSC – “She looks absolutely adorable!”

As cheerleaders they also of course look great posed together!
Holding hand parts, and cheering expressions!

The hand parts are really designed to connect together, making a really nice joint pose! Kurisu has a nice encouraging expression that works well with her reassuring personality. Mayushii’s cheerful face also suits her very nicely!

Next up… a support flag!
The flag is about as big as the Nendoroids! :O

1/8th Scale Strength -animation version-

Hi there everyone!
The Mikatan Blog Takeover has not ended yet!

Today’s blog will be taken over by me, Sacchan – yet another newcomer to Good Smile Company! (I started about 5 months ago)

But I don’t even have a camera! I suppose the first thing I’ll need to do is borrow one! (´□｀；) But I know that Shuuchan will let me borrow his!

Hirase:

I think I forgot about 70% of Shuuchan’s explanation, but I’ll give it a go anyway! Today we’ll be looking at this figure!!

From Black Rock Shooter:
Strength -animation version

Strength is the mysterious character that appears at the start of the Black Rock Shooter anime and watches over BRS’s fight – and now she is here as a lovely 1/8th scale figure! She has a lovely light looking pose that makes it seem like she is floating up in the air. She is heading out to shops very soon, so I thought I’d take a look at one of the samples that arrived here!

She looks all floaty from the back too!

Strength herself has quite a small build, but her giant arms known as ‘Ogre Arms’ are definitely the biggest highlight of her character! Although the long tail is also very cute!

A face shrouded in mystery!

Her fringe seems to just cover up the top of her eyes giving a very mysterious feeling – scale figures really are on a different level to Nendoroids or figmas! Her mouth is also subtly covered up by her clothes, adding even more to her mysterious charm. (｀・ω・´)

A close up of the Orge Arm!

It really is ginormous!! It also has a very realistic metallic feeling to it. (´Д｀*) I really expected it to be all cold and metal like when I touched it (´Д｀*)

A close-up of her long, windy tail!

It appears her tail is coming out of her skirt! (*´Д｀*) The little white ribbon at the base of the tail adds a strange cutesy feeling to the tail! (｀・ω・´). Her bare shoulders and back are also a lovely sight! (*´Д｀*)

My personal favorite part of the figure…!

Her hidden mouth!!! (゜Д゜)=3
Normally you can’t see her mouth as it’s hidden behind her clothes, but when you make the effor to take a look, it’s just such a cute little mouth! Somehow when a part of the figure is hidden except for at a specific angle, it makes it all the more interesting to look at! Be sure to take a look at your figures from any angle possible! (*´∀｀)

Last but not least, her cute little legs!

The knee-high socks give you a nice look at her thighs, and also come with the same cute little white ribbon to give her that strange cute side once again! The ribbons give her a really girly feeling, but the contrast of that cutesy girl feeling with the huge Ogre Arm is incredible… (*＞▽＜)

Nendoroid Desert Army-san

Today we move onto round three of the Mikatan Blog Takeover!

Today I’ll be taking over! My name is Takamatsu, a new recruit over at Phat! Company!! Originally the blog was going to be done by the long time employee Uchitarou, but there was a sudden change of plans! I’ve been placed in the hotseat! A big thanks for the opportunity! I’ll do the best I can!

Today we’ll be looking at one of Phat Company’s upcoming releases!
Desert Army-san!!

Army-san is from everyone’s favorite English-learning comic in which Sgt. Hartman teaches everyone some very useful slang – ‘Mahou no Kaiheitei Pixel Maritan’! Some of you might find her very familiar… because she was released as a Nendoroid last year! This time she is back in her desert combat outfit!

Do take note that the product you’re looking at today is still being worked on, so it might differ from the final product!

The main difference from the previous Army-san is the camouflage pattern! The original woodland camouflage has become the brand new ACU camouflage – in other words the desert camouflage, perfect for a tactical advantage! Here you can see the new Desert Army-san compared to the previous Army-san!

Although it doesn’t make much sense to display both of them together… you can always just say they are twin sisters! 😛

Here is another shot from the back for you to compare the two!

Up till here it’s mainly just the difference in color, but there are of course also new parts with the new Army-san!

First up is a brand new expression: A determined face!

A valiant expression that makes her look ready to take on anything that comes her way! You just need to give her a weapon of some sort and then it’s perfect!

Next up is another new expression: A drooling face!

“Gyao! Time to eat!”

A perfect expression for Army-san – she is always hungry and eating the strangest things! She also comes with hand parts that suit the expression so nicely – it’s as if she is ready to grab something to eat!

Plus, as expected from Pixel Maritan, lots of weapons are also included!
An M4 Rifle, M249 Machine Gun and M57 grenade!
All of which are freshly sculpted for this figure!

Let’s take a look at the grenade first – she can hold it in her right hand!

Even though the grenade is made to Nendoroid size, it’s still very detailed! Once you’ve pulled the out the pin be sure to throw it somewhere there are no humans or Nendoroids! (Or rather, just don’t pull out the pin :P)

I’ve heard that in one of America’s rocket launcher instruction manuals there is some helpful advice that reads ‘Fire in direction of enemy.’, it makes me wonder if grenades would have the same information. ^^;

“Stop it! Don’t be mean to me! I’m you!”

The M4 Rifle and M249 Machine Gun are also just as wonderfully detailed as the grenade!

Unfortunately, at the time of this blog, the M249 Machine Gun was away in production… but here is a picture of it from a little while back…

The M4 rifle comes with a AN/PEQ15 and ACOG scope that can be attached to it! The ACOG scope makes the rifle seem a bit more like a sniper rifle!

The M249 machine gun also comes with two legs to help stabalize the gun when firing! I’m not surprised you see Magical Girls using weapons like these nowdays…

“Don’t worry, I’ve got your back!”

And finally the biggest highlight of Desert Army-san!
The M998 4×4 Lightweight Humvee!

The humvee is filled with gimmicks – a Nendoroid can really ride inside it and the wheels really do spin – it’s a true Nendoroid-sized vehicle!

Hello to all you Mikatan Blog readers! This is figma 2nd private Kaneko!

Hello~!

Normally you’ll find me sometimes writing at figma blog… and sometimes not… but today I was asked to look after Mikatan blog for the day!

Today I’ll be introducing this figure to you all!

From the game created by the Persona team – their very first HD game, ‘Catherine’ is a 1/7th scale figure of the bewitching Catherine!

Catherine really has the proportions that most men can only dream of! Those long, slender legs are also beautiful!

Cutting it very close, but not quite close enough! The pearly white clothes and stocking contrast so nicely with her pale skin!

Doesn’t her skin look so soft and touchable? The red ribbon is also a lovely contrast to all the white!

Made to look just like the original work by Catherine’s character designer, Shigenori Soejima! Those glossy lips are also a highlight on the figure!

Nendoroid Erio Touwa

From Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko,
Nendoroid Erio Touwa!!

Erio is a self-proclaimed alien from the popular light novel that has sold over 800000 copies – ‘Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko’!

In a previous issue of Dengeki G’s magazine (2011/09) you could have grabbed a Nendoroid Petite of Erio, but now you can also grab the full Nendoroid-sized version!

Her long sky-blue hair looks just like a running river… isn’t it beautiful…

Let’s have a look at what optional parts she comes with!

An expressionless face and a UFO on a stick!

By using these two parts together you can recreate one of the official illustrations from the anime! Also take note of her shirt slipping down showing off her shoulder, plus her bare feet – what a defenseless looking Erio-san!

Moving on…

Those who have seen the series will love this extra!

Futon parts!

These parts allow you to recreate the famous futon-wrapped Erio with just her hair sticking out of the top! I bet there will not be many figures that allow you to pose Erio like this! 😀 It’s also a very detailed rendition of the futon – everything from the tight looking rope holding it together down to the purple flowery design!

“But I can’t see Erio’s face now! (つω；｀ )”

Ah, but there is a solution for that!

You can also pose her sticking her head out!

Both her head and her hands are peeking out the top of the futon! You can obviously try all the different expressions in this pose for all kinds of cute looks!

Moving on… we move onto one of Erio’s other favorite activities…

Eating pizza!

Plus she also comes with an expression with her tongue out to eat the pizza, along with hands to hold the pizza and an extra lower body part for her to sit down while eating – it’s the Nendoroid version of the pose seen in the first volume of the novel!

She looks so content eating that pizza while sitting like that!! Let’s take a closer look at her munching on the pizza!

Ooo—-(＊゜Д゜)—-ooh!!

You can really see her tongue is sticking out a little bit! The pizza also looks like a little bit of cheese is about to drip into her mouth!

That covers all the optional parts! But if you combine that with this…. and then this with that… couldn’t you…?

You can pose both the sitting pose and the futon pose together!!

I was just thinking it would be tough to choose how to display her… but I guess you can just display both at the same time!! Great thinking, Otanaka-san!
