Homura Akemi: Yukata Ver.

Hello everyone, Kahotan here! (@gsc_kahotan)

I always used to want one of those toys that lets you make candyfloss at home… and even now I’m convinced that there should be a popcorn machine in the offices! (/ω・＼)

Anyway, today I’m going to be taking a look at one of FREEing’s products which is already up for order!

Homura Akemi: Yukata Ver.! ♪

From the popular anime movie, ‘Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie Rebellion’ comes a figure of Homura Akemi! She is dressed up in a dark purple yukata with spider lily prints giving off a rather mature look, which is contrasted by the pink candyfloss she holds in her hand. The other Puella Magi are also planned to be released in this yukata series, so be sure to collect and display them all together!

Homura is the second in FREEing’s Puella Magi Madoka Magica Y-STYLE series, following on from the previously released Madoka!♥

Traditional Japanese clothes are so lovely! ヽ(*・ω・)人(・ω・*)ノ

What is Y-STYLE?
Y-STYLE is a series of figures that aims to sculpt characters with a more ‘Japanese’ look through elegant accessories and poses, while still preserving the atmosphere of the series they come from.

The combination of the fluffy candyfloss and the mature looking Homura-chan gives off a cute, mysterious charm! ♡

The flow of her yukata and hair have both been sculpted beautifully! Personally I also want to point out a rather specific area… her left hand!

This is probably just my weird mind making things up, but to me the way this hand is sculpted makes it look like she really wants to hold hands with someone!! ＜●＞＜●＞

Don’t you wish you could come up from behind her and gently wrap your fingers between hers?! ヾ(｡・Д・｡)ﾉ

Either than, or at least give her someone else to be with! Someone like the previously released Madoka Kaname: Yukata Ver.!! (*´Д`)

Ah… traditional Japanese clothes are so lovely!

You can make out Homura’s lovely slender body so nicely in the yukata! ♪


The flower pattern all over her yukata is the red magic lily! Definitely a flower ideal for a Puella Magi!

Enjoy Homura in a completely different outfit to normal!

Medicchu Kancolle Akagi & Haruna!

Today’s blog features these two characters!

Hello everyone, Kahotan here! (@gsc_kahotan)

Whenever I buy a pack of twelve takoyaki from somewhere, more often than not I get asked ‘Would you like 2 sets of chopsticks?’. I’ve become very used to answering ‘Just one set is fine, thanks!’ (；´∀｀)

Anyway, today I’m going to be taking a look at two of Phat! Company’s upcoming products:

Medicchu Kancolle Akagi &
Medicchu Kancolle Haruna! ♡


 

From the popular game ‘Kantai Collection -KanColle-‘ comes two figures based on illustrations by Kengou Yagumo, here to join the brand new ‘Medicchu’ series of chibi figures!

The Medicchu series is bigger than the Minicchu series, allowing for much more detail to be put into the ship and weapon parts! Akagi also comes with a bucket filled with her ‘Super Repairing Liquid’ as an optional part! Enjoy your favorite KanColle characters in cute 6.5cm size! * Each sold separately

More KanColle characters to join the Medicchu line up! Previously Tenryuu and Tatsuta were released as WonFes products, and now Akagi and Haruna are here to join them! Note that while Tenryuu and Tatsuta were sold as a set, these two will each be sold separately!

Anyways, let’s take a closer look at each of them, starting with Medicchu Akagi!

Ooooh!!! （*´▽｀*）

The unique charm of Kengou Yagumo’s adorable illustration has been captured perfectly! Down to the smallest of details! ♡

Take note of the paintwork too! Even the slightest changes in color are separated! Akagi-san also comes with her bucket!

Just having it beside her it brings out her character more! ε=(｡・д・｡)

The bow is sculpted to look like it’s passing through her hair. I really have to say I’m impressed with the detail on the Medicchu series… it’s really outstanding!

Even the smaller things like the arrows and compass are lovely! A work of art!

(・∀・) “I’d love for everyone to see the amount of detail in person!

Today we’re joined by Takamatsu-shi from Phat! Company’s planning team!

(・∀・) “Medicchu are about 65mm in height… and all the charms of the KanColle girls have been squished into that size in as much detail as possible!”

I remember thinking it when Tenryuu and Tatsuda came out too… but the amount of detail – particularly on the ‘ship’ parts is simply incredible!

(・∀・) “Yep! We wanted to keep the feeling that they were ships with a heavy look on those ship parts, while still keeping their cute designs in place too!”

Next up we have Medicchu Haruna! ☆

The third sister in the Kongo Battleship family! Her red and white outfit looks a bit like a Miko priestess! ♪

You really didn’t hold back on this outfit either!

(・∀・) “The hair on Haruna was also very carefully sculpted!”

You’re right! One of Haruna’s key characteristics is her long hair blowing out behind her… who ever though it would look so great in chibi size! (*´Д`)

(・∀・) “Ah… but the large ship parts behind her are just as impressive!”

Ooooohhh!! (°Д°；≡°Д°；)

(・∀・) “The contrast between her soft looking outfit and hair and this huge mechanical turret is simply magnificent!”

They both capture the characters… as well as Yagumo-san’s illustrations so nicely! （*´▽｀*）

(・∀・) “I hope fans will enjoy adding the miniaturized Akagi and Haruna to their collections!”

(・∀・) “I can’t show any more than this for now… but she is coming along nicely! I can say with confidence that fans can look forward to the upcoming Medicchu characters!

Nendoroid Link: The Wind Waker ver.

Today’s main character…

Hello everyone, Kahotan here! (@gsc_kahotan)

If I was able to control any element I’d pick the wind… of all the elements, it’s always been the one that clicks with my personality the best! (｀・ω・´)

Anyway, as I’m sure you’ve guessed from the first photo… today I’m going to be going on a little adventure with…

Nendoroid Link!

From the popular video game ‘The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD’ comes a Nendoroid of the main character of the series, Link! His Hero’s Sword, Hero’s Shield, a Heart Container and the important Wind Waker itself are all included to truly bring out the Legend of Zelda experience!

Link also comes with a large variety of expressions to bring out his character – including his standard serious looking expression, a smiling expression, a combat expression and a nervous expression! He even comes with effect parts to display him swinging his sword, allowing you to display him in truly heroic poses!

The cat-eyed Link is here!! （*´▽｀*）

His characteristic eyes and expression… even the shape of his body has been converted into Nendoroid form perfectly!

The Wind Waker itself is also of course included!

Those of you who have played ‘The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker’ will know this is a rather important item to that particular title!

But there are also a number of items well known to the Zelda universe as a whole that are also included! ヽ(*・ω・)人(・ω・*)ノ

First up…

Duh-duh-duh-DAH! ♪

A Heart Container! ★

Collecting one of these will increase your maximum HP and ensure a much safer journey! It even comes with a special little stand allowing you to display it as if Link just picked it up!

Moving on…

The Hero’s Sword and Hero’s Shield! ★

Link’s classic weapon and shield have also been sculpted in careful detail to look just as they did in the game! (o・ω・o)

Plus he has a different expression to the previous smiling expression!

(・∀・) “This is his nervous expression!”

Today we’re joined by Kyojin from the planning team!

(・∀・) “I’m personally a big fan of the Legend of Zelda series, and when Max Factory released figma Link, I knew we couldn’t lose on the Nendoroid front!”

What made you choose this ‘cat-eye’ version of Link for the Nendoroid?

(・∀・) “Well… firstly because I like the cat-eyed Link! Not only was it one of my favorite Zelda games, but the more comical design lends itself to the Nendoroid look nicely! Particularly with the exchangeable expressions!”

Link’s various expressions are super adorable (*´Д｀)=з

(・∀・) “Yep! Going back to his expressions, he also comes with this slightly upset looking, kinda serious expression which is very well known from ‘The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker'”

Now that you mention it… it does look just like it did in the game! (ﾟＡﾟ;)

While the mouth shape on this expression and the nervous expression are similar, this expression is facing straight ahead with determination! It’s very reminiscent of the game! ﾍ(ﾟ∀ﾟ*)ﾉ

(・∀・) “Ah, speaking of the nervous expression… the reason it was included was to recreate…

His stealthy movement pose!!!”

Oooh! This also looks like it just jumped out of the game!

(・∀・) “I always loved the way he looked while tip-toeing in the game! It just had to be included with the Nendoroid!”

Posing him in this pose would make make even the safest of homes look like a dangerous dungeon! (*´Д`)

Here we have link sneaking around near the planning team! I can see Kyojin and Hamako… both wearing similar green shirts by some strange coincidence!

(・∀・) “You may have already noticed, but Link is rather unique as a Nendoroid – the outlines of his face are rather different to the standard Nendoroid format! We did this to bring out the atmosphere of the series and the Zelda universe as much as possible!”

The sculpt of the hair also has a rather unique feeling to it!
It seems to be flowing off to the right… (｀・ω・´)
Plus the tuft of hair by his ear is also super cute! ♥

(・∀・) “Getting the hair to ‘flow’ the same way it did in Link’s character designs was actually quite a task for the production team… combined with the balance of the hat the standard methods of doing Nendoroid hair just weren’t working. However, after trying all sorts of things they managed to get it looking great!”

By the way, the pointy bit of Link’s hat is actually rotateable allowing for some changes in nuance! Combined with the bent leg and arm parts you can create all sorts of interesting, dynamic poses! ー(‘-‘*)(,_,*)(‘-‘*)(,_,*)

(・∀・) “There are still more optional parts too!”

Oh? There are?!

(・∀・) “The last of the optional parts are this combat expression as well as some sword swinging effect parts!”

Ooooooohhh!! (°Д°；≡°Д°；)

(・∀・) “It wouldn’t be Link without the ability to pose him swinging his sword like this! It really brings out his heroic side!”

Even more poses straight from the game!! Yay!! ♪

The effect parts connect onto the Hero’s sword quickly and easily… but more importantly, this means that Link comes with four different expression parts!

(・∀・) “We actually had even more expressions at first and had to slowly cut them back with tears in our eyes… and eventually settled on these four. We hope fans of the series will enjoy having Link by their side in Nendoroid form!”

Filled with all sorts of fun ways to reenact the game! ★

1/8th Scale Kongo: Half-Damage ver.

“No! The precious equipment I got from the admiral… it’s ruined!”

Hello everyone, Kahotan here! (@gsc_kahotan)

I’m always happy to gracefully enjoy a cup of tea… but if there are teatime snacks you can be sure that I’ll be munching down with fury!! I always look forward to the new snacks that come out around Spring too… I’m sure I’ll be munching on them soon!! (； ･`ω･´)

Anyway!
Today I’m going to be taking a look at Max Factory’s…

1/8th Scale:
Kongo: Half-Damage ver.! ♡

From the popular social game ‘Kantai Collection -KanColle-‘ comes a 1/8th scale figure of the Super Dreadnought Battleship, Kongo! She has been sculpted in her damaged version that is reached after falling below half heath.

The damaged appearance shows off her captivating body beneath the ‘precious equipment’ she received from the admiral – and the damaged look of her outfit itself has also been very intricately sculpted for fans to enjoy!

We showed off the colored prototype some time ago, so apologies for the long wait for preorders! Max Factory has been working hard to make sure she was prefect before release!

I figured everyone would want a closer look, so I stole borrowed it from Max Factory for a review! (｀・ω・´)

Let’s start off from with the ship parts on her back! ♪

Each of the different turret sections each have their own unique sculptwork that shows off the damage in amazing detail!!

(・∀・) “Take a look from the side too!”

Today we’re joined by the figure’s planner, Kaneko Nitohei! (Max Factory)

(・∀・) “Every nook and cranny of the ship and turrets has been carefully sculpted to truly bring out a ‘damaged’ feeling. My personal favorite part are the points between sections, where you can actually see a cross-section of the ship!”

Ooooohhh!! ( ﾟдﾟ)
Even the layers on the inside of the ship have been included!

(・∀・) “Obviously this part of the figure was never visible on the original illustration – but on the figure you get to enjoy the details from any angle you like!”

The charred and cracked areas of the paintwork also add to the effect… it really makes you wonder what an epic battle she must have been in! ( -ﾉｪ-)

(・∀・) “Everything that was visible in the original illustration has been sculpted as faithfully as possible to the original. Take a look at the broken off piece on the left end, for example!”

Y-Yes! T-This is quite the sight!! ＜●＞＜●＞

… the damaged design really does look just like the original illustration!

(・∀・) “You can see we put a lot of work into getting the heavy, boorish look of the ship parts right… but that obviously doesn’t mean we skimped on the sexy side!”

Kongo has a fairly revealing outfit even in her standard form… when it comes to the damaged form it really is quite a sight to behold! (*´Д`)

(・∀・) “Almost any angle you look from gives you a teasing glimpse of her lovely body!”

The contrast between the dark, heavy ship section and the light, white clothes is simply amazing!!

(・∀・) “Just to let everyone know in advance… as much is it may look like certain parts of the outfit may ‘flip’ to show more, that’s not the case! However… the outfit itself is ALL sculpted down to the finest of details!

So what you’re trying to say is…!

The little tears on her stockings showing off some extra skin are also lovely!

(・∀・) “It’s a very special figure that we’ve put a lot of love into. Both the heavy look of the ship parts and the sexy side of Kongo has all been faithfully sculpted! She’s really a pleasure to look at from all sorts of angles, so I hope fans will pick her up and enjoy!”

1/8th Scale Tsukushi Tsutsukakushi

Hello everyone, Kahotan here! (@gsc_kahotan)

I’ve always wanted to experience going out shopping with an older sister… ideally she would say something like “Nah, I think this one looks better on you!” and pick some new clothes to try on…

Anyway, today I’ll be taking a look at a character with a rather impressive sister complex! ♡ Phat Company’s 1/8th scale…

Tsukushi Tsutsukakushi!

From the anime series ‘Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko’ comes a 1/8th scale figure of the “Steel King” Tsukushi Tsutsukakushi, based on the cover illustration of the light novel’s 4th volume.

All of Tsukushi’s unique traits have been faithfully preserved in figure form – from her unique blend of long hair and a ponytail, to her impressive body which can easily be made out even over her jersey. The shoes she is holding in her left hand can be switched out for the photos she showed at the ‘Tsukiko Memorial’, allowing you to show how much she loves her sister too!

From ‘Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko’ comes a long awaited figure of Tsukiko’s sister Tsukushi! ♡ Even though she is wearing a jersey…

She’s still…

So…

Sexy!!

To be fair, the zip of the jersey is fairly low down… but seeing how soft this area looks makes me wonder why she is called the “Steel King”! (*´Д`)

(・∀・) “She has a fairly simple design, but she’s still rather detailed and sexy when you take a good look!”

Tsukushi’s Head Planner: Takamatsu-shi from Phat Company!

(・∀・) “We wanted to ensure that fans could enjoy Tsukushi’s wonderful curves even if we sculpted her wearing a jersey!”

The creases in her clothes are also very intricately sculpted!(｀・ω・´)ゞ

Compared to other figures the thighs also look much firmer… but that’s exactly what you’d expect from the head of the track club! ♪

(・∀・) “She’s in a rather simple standing pose, which really gives you a good look at her lovely long hairstyle – I’m really happy with how the flow of the hair came out!”

It does have a very lively feeling to it! The way all the hair is tied up at the base of the ponytail has also been faithfully sculpted! ヽ(*・ω・)人(・ω・*)ノ

(・∀・) “Speaking of faithful sculpting take a look at the detail on her shoes!”

They even include the running spikes!! (ﾟＡﾟ;)

(・∀・) ” Just like Mika Jougasaki: Charisma Girl Ver. we really put a lot of effort into getting the shoes perfect… we’re becoming quite the shoe experts now! No matter what angle you look from they are very convincing!”

*The shoes connect onto her fingers securely.

As expected of Tanaka-shi and shoes! (o・ω・o)

(・∀・) “I’d also like to point out the detail of the pattern on her skirt! Definitely not to be missed!”

Chequered patterns are always so cute…! ♡

W-Wait!
She’s holding something different now!!(°Д°；≡°Д°；)

(・∀・) “Oh yes… she also comes with photos of Tsukiko as a child! These can be swapped out with the shoes whenever you like! Choose between the track team Tsukushi or the sister complex Tsukushi!”

Miyazawa Model Exhibition: Spring 2014

Hello everyone, Kahotan here! (@gsc_kahotan)

This year my pollen allergies have been rather calm, but I’m still wearing a mask every day just in case!

Anyway, today I’m going to be infiltrating the Miyazawa Model Exhibition! Let’s see what upcoming figures we can sneak a look at! (｀・ω・´)ゞ

GSC’s 1/8th Scale Honoka Kousaka!

 

– The Event Hall –

It was really crowded throughout the morning! Filled with figure makers, wholesale stores and bloggers! (； ･`ω･´)

For those who don’t know…

The Miyazawa Model Exhibition is a industry-only event organized by Miyazawa Models that takes place twice a year! GSC, Max Factory, Phat!, Gift, FREEing and Penguin Parade all took part this year, along with many other companies!

Let’s take a look at what was on display! ♪

– GSC –

One of the figures which debuted as a prototype this time around was…

Nendoroid Iona! ♡

Isn’t she adorable?! (*´Д`)
The included effect parts are also amazing! 10/10! ♪

Next up we have the colored prototype of…
Gray Fullbuster! ヽ(・∀・)ﾉ

I want to display him with Natsu!!

From KanColle we have unpainted prototypes of…
Nendoroid Kitakami and Nendoroid Kaga!

I look forward to seeing what expressions and optional parts they will come with… not to mention how they will look when colored!

We also have to more additions to the Bathtime Collection series from KanColle… Ryuujou and Kitakami!

The final addition from KanColle was Dokodemo Rensouhou-chan! He comes with Velcro attachments allowing you to take him with you no matter where you go! (｀・ω・´)

The body is about the same size as an iPhone! There are Velcro attachments on the back of the head and the bottom, meaning he can stick to things in all sorts of ways! ヽ(*・ω・)人(・ω・*)ノ

I’ll be sure to take a closer look on the blog shortly!!

Next up we have this 1/7th Scale Saber EXTRA from Fate/EXTRA!!

The highlight of Max Factory’s booth was the 1/8th scale I-58: Half-Damage ver.! ★

Just look at that amazing expression!

I look forward to introducing her to all the admirals soon! ﾍ(ﾟ∀ﾟ*)ﾉ

The soon to be up for order 1/8th Scale Kongo: Half-Damage ver. was also on display! ♡

She’s magnificent! Sculpted down to the most intricate of details!

The event also featured the debut of figma Chariot: TV ANIMATION ver.‘s optional parts!


She looks to have a fairly impressive volume thanks to those parts!

Nendoroid Shimakaze

I really can’t remember what I was wearing at this time of year last year… whenever the season starts to change I’m always unsure about what to wear…

But anyway! Today I’m going to be taking a look at a Nendoroid released not long ago, with the second release coming out on the 22nd April!

Nendoroid Gilgamesh

Hello everyone, Kahotan here! (@gsc_kahotan)

Today I’m going to be taking to be taking a look at the King of Heroes,

Nendoroid Gilgamesh!

From the popular PC game ‘Fate/stay night’ comes a Nendoroid of the ‘King of Heroes’ dressed in his golden armor, Gilgamesh! He comes with both his standard sneering expression, as well as a shouting expression.

Additionally, special parts that allow you to display him with the ‘Gate of Babylon’ behind him are included, and the most powerful Noble Phantasm contained within the gate, Ea, the Sword of Rupture is also included for him to wield, allowing fans to display him in all sorts of epic poses from the series!

Ooooohhh!!! (*´▽｀*)

Gilgamesh has finally come to take over my desk!!
The very first male Nendoroid from Fate is ready to be officially announced soon!

The most powerful of his Noble Phantasms, ‘Ea, the Sword of Rupture’ is of course included for him to wield!

The attention to detail on the patterns of the sword are amazing! (ﾟＡﾟ;)

Another very special thing about Gilgamesh is of course his golden armor, which has a heavy and metallic look to it… even as a cute Nendoroid

(・∀・) “We worked really hard on the coloring of the armor!”

We’re joined today by the figure’s head planner, Yassan!

(・∀・) “Even though he has golden armor, it’s not so much a ‘sparkly’ gold, but more of a powerful gold. We wanted to ensure that the armor still felt like armor… and wasn’t just gold as a fashion statement.”

Looking close you can also tell that it’s not just the color that’s amazing… the patterns all over the armor are super detailed too! ヽ(*・ω・)人(・ω・*)ノ

(・∀・) “Indeed! You already mentioned above how detailed Ea was, and the armor is no exception. Each and every twist, turn and color change of his armor has been faithfully sculpted! Even if you’re looking from the back… take a look!”

Ooh! The markings and layers are all so lovely! He’s really a work of art!

(・∀・) “But there is still more to look forward to!”

I-Is this what I think it is?! ( ﾟдﾟ )!

(・∀・) “The Gate of Babylon!”

It’s amazing! Even in Nendoroid size the impact is astounding!

(・∀・) “His expressions include the grinning expression you saw above, as well as this angrier, shouting expression which makes the Gate look even more imposing!”

But to truly recreate the epic scene from the series… we need to have the Noble Phantasms coming out from the gate!!

Ta-da!!

Ooooohhh!!! (*´▽｀*) (for the second time in one blog!)

(・∀・) “Each and everyone of the weapons has been sculpted differently!”

They’re all different types of weapons as well!
It’s like a cute miniature weapon collection set! ♪

(・∀・) “Each of these weapons also be held just like Ea, so you have a huge variety of posing options!”

Options like this make me so happy! (*´Д`）

(・∀・) “By the way, this is how the Gate of Babylon looks from the back!”

Ah, so each of the weapons are simply pushed through the gate!

(・∀・) “Well, this is still the prototype, so things may still change… but that is the idea we are going for!”

The grinning face captures Gilgamesh’s confidence beautifully, but I really love the shouting face too – it’s the perfect combination of anger and pride in a single expression! (‘-‘*)(,_,*)(‘-‘*)(,_,*)

(・∀・) “As there are a large number of weapons included we decided to only give him two expressions, but I do think they both capture his personality nicely!”

A Visit to the SoniAni -SUPER SONICO THE ANIMATION- Exhibit!

Today I snuck out of the offices to head out to Nakano… and the reason for that was so I could take a look at the TV Anime ‘SoniAni -SUPER SONICO THE ANIMATION- Exhibit which starts today at pixiv Zingaro!

Hello everyone, Kahotan here! (@gsc_kahotan)

Yesterday was April Fools as well as the welcome ceremony for new employees… it ended up as a rather busy day! But today we’re back to normal!

With that said, time to take a look at a soon to be released figure…

Nendoroid Eren Yeager!

He is the third in the Attack on Titan series following on from the previously released Nendoroid Colossus Titan & Attack Playset and Nendoroid Mikasa Ackerman!

This is how the packaging looks! ヽ(*・ω・)人(・ω・*)ノ

He comes with a number of bent arms and legs which I personally love to see!

Not to mention just like Mikasa he comes with smoke effect parts to display him in dynamic combat scenes with the vertical maneuvering equipment!

Displaying him with the Titan and Mikasa really brings out the atmosphere of the Attack on Titan universe nicely! (ﾉ｀・∀・)ﾉ

I just wish I could hurry up and add Levi and Armin to the scene too! (ﾟＡﾟ;)
Just like Mikasa, Eren also comes with this rather special part! ♫

This special extra little stand allows you to display the figure with a special background card! (｀・ω・´)ゞ

The inner cardboard of the Nendoroid’s box features perforated lines which allows you to get this rectangular piece for an awesome wall background!

Just the background alone adds a little extra to the atmosphere! ♡

He also comes with the bloody effect parts to attach to his blades and pose him in action! ヽ(・∀・)ﾉ

Another very important set of items… the questioning scene! A special body and the pillar are both included! We just need Levi here now!!

Note that the alternate body is only the middle body part! The lower body and legs are used with both bodies!

You can also pose him ready to protect Mikasa and Armin! ♪

I’m afraid I don’t have any news on Armin just yet… but as soon as I do I’ll be sure to pass it on to everyone! ( -ﾉｪ-)

By the way… the 30th of March was Eren’s birthday!
