Cheerful Japan feat. Hatsune Miku: Illustration Contest

GSC is currently running the Cheerful JAPAN! Project!

– Cheerful JAPAN! –

Good Smile Company has formed a support group of a few companies named ‘Cheerful Japan!’ which will strive to support the relief efforts for the 2011 Touhoku earthquake and tsunami for as long as possible. For at least one year we be releasing charity products on the 11th of each month to raise donation money for the cause, in hopes that Japan can recover as soon as possible.

This month’s charity product is Nendo Ren & Len: Cheerful ver!, who are pictured above!

For each sale of this month’s figures, Good Smile Company will donate 1000JPY to the relief efforts. Orders will be taken until the 29th August until 20:00 (JST), and you can place your order at the link below.

– How to Enter –

Simply draw an illustration of Hatsune Miku that has the ‘Cheerful’ theme of the Cheerful Japan project (for example, a cheerleader). The expression, hairstyle, posing and background are all entirely up to you!

The 2011 Tokushima Awa Dance Poster!

Oooh! Looks like a bunch of my favorite characters are all on the poster! What on earth could it be!?

This year’s poster has been made through the cooperation of various companies that were taking part in Machiasobi! Look how wonderfully it has come out! From Fate/Zero’s illustrator Takashi Takeuchi to Black Rock Shooter’s huke, Ghost in the Shell’s Nakamura, Kara no Kyoukai’s XXX and other illustrators have all added in their artwork!

We will be having charity sales of the poster to help support the relief efforts in Eastern Japan. You can grab your copy at any animate stores nationwide, ufotable cafe Tokyo and Tokushima, ufotable dining and the Good Smile Cafe。

It will be sold for 1000JPY per poster.
Because it is a charity product, you may also purchase the poster for more and all of the additional money will be donated to relief efforts – any amount of 500 yen increments will be happily accepted! 1500yen, 10000yen – however generous you may be feeling, 500yen will be kept for each purchase to cover costs, but every thing above will be donated.Please note that animate will only sell the poster for 1000JPY.

Cheerful JAPAN! Part 4 – Nendoroid Rin & Len Kagamine: Cheerful Ver.!

Some of the staff are going to visit their families, others are going away for the vacation… some are continuing with other work . 😛 To all those who go out in the summer heat, be sure to drink plenty of water and keep safe!

But anyway today we’re back at the table tennis table which has already become quite a mess again – but also has these new figures on it!

Cheerful JAPAN! Part 4:
Nendoroid Kagamine Rin and Len: Cheerful Ver.!

They are not sold as a set, they are sold separately.

In order to help support the relief efforts that combat the disastrous earthquake and tsunami that occurred on the 11th March, Good Smile Company created the Cheerful Japan! project to help out for many months to come. GSC and various other companies will be releasing charity products on the 11th of each month – these two are this month’s addition to the project!

Nendoroid Kagamine Rin: Cheerful Ver.!

The above image is in fact from the original Nendoroid Rin, but everything you see here will be included with the Cheerful version as well, along with a bunch of support items!

Plus as a bonus extra, the Cheerful version can use expressions from other Nendos!

She will cost 3000JPY with free shipping within Japan.

Let’s take a look at the extra parts that come with this Rin!
First up is her pompons!

Miku also came with pompons, but these ones are yellow to match with Rin and Len. If you use the pompons along with that smiling expression you almost can’t help but smile when you see her!

A whistle and hands to hold it!

Rin is making use of her whistle to help cheer everyone on! She also comes with a new hand so she and hold it!

Two support flags and a whistle to go around her neck!

The flags have the Cheerful Japan! logo and the GSC mark on them – you need to put the two flags together to make the complete image! The reverse side of the flags is blank, so stick on some of the included stickers, or write your own message on. The whistle around her neck is a separate whistle to the one she holds in her hands – you could even display her with both!

Nendoroid Len Kagamine: Cheerful Ver.!

Len also comes with all the parts from the original version as well as the set of Cheerful extras!

Plus he can also use other Nendo expressions now!

He will also be 3000JPY with free shipping within Japan!

Now let’s take a look at the extra parts that come with Len!
He also comes with pompons!

The color balance is perfect, which means posing the two of them together both with pompons looks great! Len looks a little embarrassed with the pompons – it really suits him!

A megaphone and hand to hold it!

While Rin gets a whistle to cheer everyone up, Len comes with a megaphone! This also makes use of a new hand part which lets him hold it to his mouth and shout out words of encouragement!

He comes with a speech plate!

There is one plate that is already printed with the text ‘Let’s all work through this together’ as well as a blank plate for you to write your very own message! (What exactly the plate will be made from hasn’t actually been decided yet, so it might look different to the one you see here.) Obviously you can display him without the plate as well!

A hand to hold the megaphone aside!

If you don’t want to have the megaphone to his mouth and instead just have him holding it, then you can use this hand instead!

Two support flags and a megaphone for his neck!

The flags have the same design as Rin’s, and also make up one image when put together. He can also hand the megaphone from his neck like so!

Millhiore F. Biscotti

A huge tower case in the GSC Offices!

These are used to display figures at events!

It’s Summer! And in Summer there are loads of events – there are in fact still loads more this month! Whenever GSC will be attending an event it always goes up on the Japanese GSC site, so do take a look if you’re in Japan! Summer has only just begun for us!!

On top of said tower case, I found this figure to play with!

Millhiore F. Biscotti!

Mllhiore is from the anime ‘DOG DAYS’ set in a world called Flonyard – she is in fact the Princess of the Biscotti Republic!

It really is very nice and big!

Millhi’s beloved mount, Harlan, is also included!

It’s almost like getting two Nendoroids in one! Harlan even has joints in her neck, both wings and both legs for posing fun! We’ll take a closer look shortly–

This is how they look from behind!

Millhi’s ears and tail are of course absolutely adorable! The fine detail on the dress is also very nice!

Let’s take a look at the optional parts that are included!

First up is a worried expression!

This is of course an expression designed to recreate the scene from the final battle in the anime. I’m fairly sure if anyone saw her with this expression they would be determined to protect her no matter what the cost!

In her hands she holds the sword, Excelied!

It might be hard to tell from this photo, but the sword has a nice metal paint which looks really pretty! (Oh, and the meat that Harlan is eating isn’t included, it’s my own personal toy. :P)

Moving on – a praying expression!

As well as bent arms and hands that are held together – a perfect recreation of the scene where she summons Cinque!

…and for some reason Harlan is flapping her wings about in the background! 😛

She also comes with a microphone!

As a side note, Millhi’s arm and hand parts are separate – plus there are loads of them! It allows her to take all sorts of nice poses! It also seems that Millhi’s singing has managed to calm Harlan down now…

She can also ride on Harlan!

Those who have seen the anime will know that Harlan is in fact a wonderful mount for Millhi – and the Nendoroid can recreate that perfectly! She comes with a separate lower body as well as reins for riding.

Harlan can also be displayed flying!

1/8th Scale Madoka Kaname

The 1/8th scale Madoka we took a look at on Friday!

I got stopped halfway through my pictures last time, but today I’ll take a proper look at her! I hope you’ve all been waiting in anticipation! 😛 Particularly after hearing that there are some extra parts that come with her!

The Puella Magi Madoka Magica 1/8th scale series:
Number 1 : Madoka Kaname!

She is the main character from the popular anime ‘Puella Magi Madoka Magica’! The pose itself is based on one of the key visuals from the series, which features Madoka in a very dynamic pose with a huge smile on her face!

Plus she is wearing her beautiful Puella Magi outfit!

Pink is normally a hard color to work with, but it came out beautifully here!

This is how she looks from the back!

Madoka’s #1 selling point just has to be that lovely frilly and puffy skirt!! The frills look absolutely gorgeous! I hope the final version of the figure comes out just as well!

A perfect conversion of the illustration!

Trying to change a 2D image into a 3D figure isn’t an easy task, but this one really has come out perfectly!

She looks like an angel from any angle!

A look from the top!

On a 1/8th scale figure the clothes and posing can often make the figure itself look a little small, but in Madoka’s case her nice big skirt really gives off a nice big feeling!

This looks like the opening theme pose!

This picture was taken with the image of Madoka running along like in the opening theme. 😛 But the highlight here is of course the lovely shoes!

The Soul Gem is made from clear plastic!

The Soul Gem is a key element to the storyline, and even though it’s tiny it’s still very detailed! The two arm frills are also done using a beautiful pink gradient. It really looks wonderful!

Me personal best photo!

The Soul Gem kind of changes colors when you look at it from different angles! (Although, that’s not actually part of the design, so I’m not sure if the final product will still do that.) When you spin her around you can see it kind of glinting with the light – it looks really nice!

Plus, Madoka looks really sexy from this angle!

You can pull him off and make him hold on somewhere else instead! Here I tried making him hold on to her ankle, which kind of worked… but once again I’m not sure if it’ll work on the final version of the figure. ^^;

Her bow is also included!

The gems in the centre of the bow are just as beautiful as the Soul Gem – they also use the same clear plastic! The little leaf like parts at the ends of the bow are also right there! She has a replaceable wrist part which allows her to hold it easily – a very nice extra for fans of the series!

The Hobby Maker Product Exhibition!

A special event that’s held twice a year after each WonFes, that allows wholesale stores and shops to take a careful look at upcoming products!

At first the event only featured GSC products, but after a few events, a couple of other figure makers have started to join in at the event as well! It’s very hard to talk to buyers at WonFes – it’s just too busy – so I really think this kind of event is great to hold after WonFes, so that serious buyers can have a closeup look at the upcoming goods and discuss things with those in charge . I went around and did a quick twitcast while I was at the event, but of course I grabbed a couple of photos as well!

These photos include figures from other companies, let’s take a look at everything the event had to offer!

That was a quick look at this year’s Summer 2011 Hobby Maker Product Exhibition!

Thanks to all those companies who put their figures on display at the event!

The things that stick in my mind the most from the event:

・ The Madoka figma series is incredible!
(Homura-chan’s hair band and ribbon have been fixed!)
・ The 1/8th scale Madoka series – I can’t wait!
・ Soniko is so cute!
・ Lots of nurses! My favorite!
・ I’m jealous of whoever thought to make the Onegai! Ranking straps! 😛

All of the GSC and Max Factory figures that featured in the photos will be up on the blog sometime, so look forward to them!

Where did all the figures go!?

There were so many of them there yesterday!!

Ah, I know! They’ve all been taken to the Figure Maker Exhibition Event organized by GSC! Which means I have free reign over any of the figures that have been left here!! Whee!!

The 2nd Milky Holmes Nendoroid:

Nendoroid Hercule Barton!

She is from the popular anime ‘Tantei Opera Milky Holmes’, and is also known by her nickname, Elly!

I myself am a Milky Green fan!!

Whenever I go to a Milky Holmes live I make sure to have a green glowstick! 😛 Even at WonFes I took a quick break from work to run down to the Milky Holmes event on stage!

This is how she looks from the back!

Her long green detective outfit really has made it’s way into Nendoroid format perfectly – the lacing on the hems and the checkered design on the hat all look so adorable!

The hat can of course be removed!

She looks just as, if not even more cute without the hat!! The way her hair sticks out the sides is so cute!!

She also has hands that can be placed in front of her!
These are perfect for a sky looking pose, which is of course perfect for Elly! I’m so glad I can be with Elly all the time now! 😛

She comes with a crying expression!

This is the expression for whenever she has to use her ‘Toys’ ability! 😛 She also comes with a bent let arm, which can be used for a pose like this or can be used to hold her hat. Doesn’t the expression just make her look like a little angel?

Those who have seen the anime will know!

In episode 9, Elly gets possessed by her ancestor and ends up looking like this!

To seperate the different parts – there is a Poirot face, a kind of bald wig and a fat stomach part! 😛 I’m sure fans of the anime are glad for the extras, buy I’m also fairly sure that those who haven’t seen the anime must be somewhat confused by these extras. ^^;

But we’re not finished yet!

Elly has fallen over!!

You can make the embarrassing pose from episode 3!

Just for this pose a whole extra body is included! Apparently the person in charge of the figure was also a huge Elly fan! You can also attack the fallen over legs on the standard body – they just look more like bent legs that way.

It’s also rather strange how cute Elly still looks with just the Poirot face. 😛

Today, the 3rd August 2011, is the 10 year anniversary of the day that ‘Kimi ga Nozumu Eien’ (The Eternity you Desire) went on sale!

Happy Birthday!! Kiminozo is one of the games that almost any eroge players will know! It’s hard to think that it’s been 10 years since it went on sale!

It’s also the the 10th anniversary of Haruka Suzumiya’s voice actress, Minami Kuribayashi!

Nendoroid MEIKO

After WonFes, the GSC Offices…

There are lots of newcomers to the master figure shelf, but today we’ll be looking at this one!

From the Nendoroid Vocaloid Series:

Nendoroid MEIKO!

We’ve waited so very, very long!!! ･ﾟ･（ﾉД`）･ﾟ･｡

There have been so many requests for a Nendoroid of MEIKO, and now she is finally here to join the others! Of course the sculptor is the same as the previous Vocaloid Nendoroids – Yukiwo Ageta!

This is how she looks from the back!

Meiko’s sexy little outfit that shows around her belly is perfect in Nendoroid form! The boots also look all rounded and cute as a Nendoroid!!

Let’s move onto the optional parts!

First up is a singing face!

Definitely one expression that a Vocaloid Nendoroid just has to have! MEIKO seems so happy when she sings! I can’t help but smile when I see her with this face!

She also has a mike, mike-stand and hands to hold it!

I never expected to be able to recreate this kind of dynamic pose with a Nendoroid! As you can see, she makes use of the arm-type stand which allows for poses in mid-air like this one!

There are also a couple of extra parts used here!
A separate lower body for this pose, and bent legs!

MEIKO also just has to have a drunk expression!

Everyone knows that Meiko loves her alcohol, so she had to come with a drunk face with her eyes spinning around! It’s so cute! 😛 She also has a hand to hold the can included, as well as a different arm to her hip and a bent leg that just adds to the drunk look!
