A Look at Where 3D Sculpting is Used on Figures!

The 3D corner during the WonFes Live Broadcast!
002

On the stream we had YOSHI-san sculpt something using 3D data during the broadcast, which would be printed out before the end!

We also had a couple of guests such as Bre Prettis who is the president of MakerBot (a company that makes 3D printers), Kazuhiro Kimura who is the president of Knead as well as Masaki Asai.

We had some really interesting talks going on, I really wish we had more time for that section as I wanted to ask so many more things!! Not to mention YOSHI-san was a very interesting person to have on the broadcast! 😛

There is no doubt that 3D data and figures are very closely related to one and other!!

Today I’ll be showing where 3D data is used on some figures! (σ゚∀゚)σ

001
This is Fuumin from the 3D team!

Fuumin has been a member of the staff since the offices were back in the Tsuchiya Building in Matsudo… one of the sculptors who has supported GSC for many, many years!

Let’s take a look at a few of the things Fuumin has worked on in the past…

003
Kino’s gun from Kino to Tabi!

Oooh! This is a product that brings back a lot of memories!! Kino uses a gun known as a 51 Navy 3rd Std. (Colt M1851 Navy)… as you can see even the screws are carefully included on the 3D model!
004

This is how the final product looked!

The gun itself is so tiny! But small things like this are always important aspects of a figure! This product was actually released all the way back in January 2008!

It’s over 5 years old now!! I can’t believe it!! (((゚Д゚)))

000
At that time, this needed to be printed first!

Back in 2008 we didn’t have the laser based 3D printers, but instead used a wax 3D printer known as a Thermojet. This caused the back to end up feeling very rough, which meant that instead of printing out the gun as is, a kind of mould needed to be made instead, which would then be filled with silicon to create the final product.

Nowadays, we can simply print out the data exactly as it is made, although obviously it still needs to be fixed up a little afterwards. It’s incredible to see how far 3D sculpting and printing has progressed in just a few short years!
005
The scale Miku, Rin and Len!

The bottom left is Miku’s base, the rest are parts from Rin and Len. Things like bases, small items and symmetrical things are often made using 3D data!
006
Here are the finished products!

The pattern on the base is actually on the reverse side, but the semi-transparent material lets the pattern come through onto the top! Things like that pattern would have taken ages to create by hand – 3D work makes repetitive sculpting like that so much faster!

While we’re talking about them, don’t forget that the 1/8th scale Rin and Len are currently up for preorder!

– Kagamine Rin & Len Review –
http://mikatan.goodsmile.info/en/2013/02/19/18th-scale-kagamine-rin-kagamine-len-rerelease/

007
Nendo Petite K-ON!’s instruments!

The instruments held by the girls were all made using 3D data! Of course they had to be a rather strange looking size to suit the Nendoroid Petite design!
019
This is how tiny they come out!!

One of the amazing things about sculpting with 3D data is that you can keep amazing detail even when creating super tiny things like these! The instruments are only a few centimeters in size each, but the amount of detail on them is unbelieveable…

That said though, there is a limit to how much detail things can have… if it is too intricate then mass production becomes a problem, so the production team and the sculptor need to keep careful balance between detail and viability.

aNendoroid Kamui Kobayashi’s Helmet!

009
Nendoroid Fully Posable Saber’s Sword!

Small accessories like these are also made with 3D data! I actually always thought that Kamui-san’s helmet was made by hand!

If I remember correctly, Saber-san’s armor was also made using 3D data!
012
Nendoroid Kokoro’s Segway!

013
1/8th Scale Akane Isshiki’s Bike!

Even big vehicles like this can be made using 3D data now! The thing about something like Akane’s bike is that it doesn’t actually exist, so the 3D sculptor needs to carefully build the model using the anime designs. The method is different to sculpting by hand, but it really is quite a similar job in the end!
010
The soft vinyl Kyubey-san!

Accessories and mechanical things are not the only things made with 3D data… complete figures can also be made! You might remember that some time ago I showed how the 1/8th scale Millhi figure was made using 3D sculpting – and I’m sure many more upcoming figures will also be!

– A Look at How Millhiore F. Biscotti was Made Using 3DCG Sculpting! –

http://mikatan.goodsmile.info/en/2011/11/04/a-look-at-how-millhiore-f-biscotti-was-made-using-3dcg-sculpting/
014
Hanekawa-san’s chair and table!

011
Nendo Petite: New Japan Wrestling Ring

015
Miku: Love is War’s Pedestal!

The pedestals and bases that figures stand upon often bring something really special to the figure itself! These three products I’ve shown above are good examples which create a small little diorama for the figure to be displayed on.
I always love it when the bases have this much detail!!

The Love is War pedestal really was quite amazing… I bet it must have taken ages to create the data for it!!
018
The Miku-san ice tray!

This was also made from 3D data. The ice tray was included together with the fully posable Snow Miku!

I remember the first time I tried to get the ice out from the tray and I ended up ruining Miku’s arms and skirt, or causing the edges of the blouse to become all rounded… sorry Miku!! ;_;
016
Time for a Quiz!!

What part is this?!

[Time Limit: 30sec]
017
Hint:
It’s a part of someone’s sword!

020
Answer:
The Guard on Shiki Ryogi’s Sword!!

How can such a tiny piece be so intricate?! The pattern you see on the guard comes directly from the publisher’s data!

Because figures are made to a scale, certain details to sometimes need to be omitted… but there are often intricate details like this that are kept, which I believe are the key to a high quality figure!!

That brings this blog on 3D sculpting to an end, I hope you enjoyed it!

It’s quite interesting to see all the different ways in which 3D sculpting is used! If this post is popular, I’ll happily make a part two and show some more interesting parts of figures made using 3D data!!
But anyway, that’s all for today!
I hope to see you all again tomorrow!! (・∀・)ノ゛

Belldandy with Holy Bell

Max Factory’s 25th Anniversary!!

001
Congratulations!!

Max Factory had their own special 25th anniversary booth at the 2013 Winter WonFes which had all the products they’ve released over the years all lined up for everyone to see! 25 years of products is quite an impressive sight!! Plus as a commemoration to 25 years, they are also going to be releasing a PVC figure of a garage kit created by Chieri-san 16 years ago!

Back when the garage kit was first made, it was very difficult to create a full figure version for the public, but now things have changed and the possibility is very much here! That said, it’s still going to be an incredibly high hurdle for Max Factory’s production team!! (((( ゜Д゜)))
002
Max Factory’s:
Belldandy with Holy Bell!

From the popular manga ‘Oh My Goddess!’ comes a 1/10th scale figure of the main heroine, Belldandy! The figure is based on an illustration which was originally released as a pinup poster, and also features her angel, Holy Bell, supporting her from behind.

The figure has been carefully sculpted to create a dynamic effect through the flowing material of her dress and her windswept wings, and each figure will include a unique serial number to ensure collectability. With over ten years passed, the beauty of Belldandy and Holy Bell will be be available for all fans to enjoy.

It’s beautiful!!

Nothing more needs to be said! She is simply beautiful for words! To think that everyone will be able to get their hands on a fully painted version of this figure… this really is a great age to be living in!!

This is one figure that can be recommended without second though to an “Oh My Goddess!” fan, but it’s also simply beautiful enough as a figure that I’d even recommend it to figure collectors, even it they don’t know the series that well! It’s one figure I’d never miss out on! Ever!!

Let’s take a 360 degree look!

As I said, it’s too beautiful for words… so this is the fastest way to show everyone how beautiful this figure is!! If you take your time to study the next few pictures, I’m sure you’ll understand just how incredible this figure is!!

003
004
005
006
007
008
014
So, what do you think?!

Absolutely beautiful! A true piece of art!! If you’re a fan of the series and get to see this figure up close, I can almost guarantee that it’ll impress you to no end!

Figures really are so incredible! I love them!!
I haven’t had this amazing feeling in ages!!
009
Belldandy!!

Such a gentle smile on her face… she truly is a goddess!!

Her soft, airy looking hair has been faithfully sculpted! Plus the subtle use of color all over the figure and the tiny beads and accessories that adorn her outfit are all so stunning!! (((゜Д゜)))
010
with Holy Bell!

It’s seems a tad strange to write this on the blog… but this figure is kind of the opposite to normal – even though she is half naked, it doesn’t really give off any kind of erotic feeling… it’s simply beautiful!

She truly looks like a deity from the heavens!!
011
Such a beautiful gradient!

Whilst Chieri’s sculpting is undeniably outstanding, we can’t forget about Max Factory’s amazing painting team! The pastel orange slowly fades to white as a lovely gradient which adds even more beauty to the figure.

The orange slowly fades as it gets lower, but the impressive thing to note here is that the gradient is applied not only on the areas that stick out, but also the indented areas… getting the airbrush to spray the gradient evenly over all of that must be incredibly difficult!!
012
The wings and effects are incredible!!

If you look close, you can see Holy Bell’s wings are separated into a number of different layers. How many different parts will this take during production… I can’t even begin to imagine! ((( ;゜Д゜)))

It’s quite hard to tell from this image, but there is also paintwork to simulate light shadows cast all over the figure… the detail is outstanding!
013
I can’t believe this was all made by human hands!

The twirls in Belldandy’s hair and the twirls in the clouds around her hips and even more twirls in the effects around Holy Bell… everything is so intricate that I almost can’t believe this was made by hand!

Sculptors really are true craftsman! Even after all these years I’m still constantly impressed!!
002
Max Factory’s:
Belldandy with Holy Bell!

The figure will be priced at ¥19,800! I’m sure some will think that’s expensive, while others will think it’s cheap for such a piece of art!

(To be honest… from a production point of view, I think even that price is pushing it! It’s certainly not your standard figure!)

She’ll be up for preorder from the 22nd February!
Get in contact with our partner shops if you have any preorder or sales queries!

Anyway, that’s all for today!
I hope to see you all again tomorrow!! (・∀・)ノ゛

1/8th Scale Kagamine Rin & Kagamine Len Rerelease!

These two were both high on the rerelease request polls…

001
And both are now scheduled for rerelease!!

The rerelease polls were created as a part of GSC’s 10th anniversary… it’s hard to think that in May we’ve already reached the end of our 11th year! But even so, the rerelease poll results are still being used to help us decide what needs to be rereleased, and I’m sure that will still continue for some time to come!

This image comes from Hamako’s desk (one of 2012’s newcomers), look at all the sticky notes! One is a very simple “The mail size limit is 1MB”, but I can’t help but wonder why one of them reads ‘Servant’! 😛
002
The 1/8th Scale:
Kagamine Rin & Kagamine Len!

From the Character Vocal Series comes two 1/8 scale PVC figures of the twin Vocaloids, Kagamine Rin and Len! Sculpted by the popular sculptor Kanji Toona, these energetic figures of Rin & Len are sculpted as if they’re both performing on stage for fans.

These products have a very special place in my heart! (`・ω・´)

The prototypes were originally shown back in December 2008. with both of them releasing in June 2009… it’s been more than three years since then! I remember when I first saw the colored prototypes I had already fallen in love with how cute they were… I wanted to take pictures that would really show off how great they were but I was never quite happy with the results…

But this time I’m going to ensure I get the photos that I want!!
003
This is how they look from the back!

Both Rin & Len are absolutely amazing! Even after three years they look incredible! Their individual sculpting alone is great, but the way that Otanaka from the planning team through to create the duo pose between the two of them looks even more fantastic!

There is a little extra trick to the double pose which I’ll show a little later.
004
Let’s take a look at Rin-chan first!

She is in a lovely pose with one hand on her hip as she turns her body to the side!! It’s gorgeous!! The pose and expression capture Rin’s playful personality, and the little gaps of bare skin also provide a slightly sexier side to her as well!
005
Her cute, round hipline!

This is really where Rin-chan shines!! It wouldn’t be easy to see this hipline through a skirt, but with hot-pants you really get a good look!! It’s not only a lovely size, it also has such a nice round shape… it’s perfect!!
006
Her curved body and soft looking stomach!

The way her body is twisted around not only shows off her bottom, but also allows for the little glimpses of skin between her clothes as she turns!

Just look how smooth and soft her stomach looks!!
007
Next up we have Len-kun!

While Rin is lovely cute pose, Len instead has a flashy, cool looking pose!
He has a lovely youthful looking body, emphasized by the great sculpt work!
011
Even the back has a dynamic feel to it!

His outfit and suspenders are both sculpted in mid-motion to capture the movements he is making during his performance!

I’m sure there are many girls out there who can’t get enough of this pose – he is bending down over his instrument, appealing to all his fans! (´∀`)
008
Such intricate detail on the keyboard!

Even as a 1/8th scale figure, the indented areas around the black keys are carefully sculpted on! I also personally love the way his knee looks as well as thighs you can make out through his loose pants!

Just like Rin, Len also gives a few glimpses of bare skin! (=゜ω゜=)
009
A special way to display them!

Most figures have both their feet connect onto a single base, but Rin and Len both only connect using a single foot. This means you can spin the figure around with that one foot as an axis, which easily allows you to create a pose between the two of them like this – you could even have them facing each other, or back-to-back instead! There are a load of different positions to try!

These stands were actually made using 3D data, but they were definitely not the first use of 3D sculpting by GSC. The very first was actually back with Nendoroid Bicycling Rider (Nendoroid #21) – her bicycle was made using 3D data!

You know, I’d love to do a post on all the old figures that made use of 3D sculpting some time…

1/8th Scale Racing Miku 2012ver.

Wonder Festival 2013 (Winter)!

001
A big thank you to everyone!! (Once again!)

This is a photo of the WonHobby 17 booth! So many people came by to enjoy the festivities with us!! There were so many people that it actually became too crowded to get a good look at everything sometimes… my apologies to everyone who wasn’t able to get a look at everything they wanted to see!

But that’s exactly why this blog exists! Everyone who didn’t get a good look at the event will find photos of all the new figures right here!!
002
All rhe figures that were on display at WonFes have now been returned to the GSC offices!

But very shortly they’ll be taken to the upcoming Figure Maker Exhibition!

All the sculptors are hard at work fixing up any scratches or bumps that the figures might have got at WonFes. Now that WonFes has ended and everything should be calming down, everyone is still just as busy as ever!! 😛
003
1/8th Scale Racking Miku 2012 ver.!

GSR&Studie with TeamUKYO’ is a racing team that took part in the 2012 season SUPER GT300. The official mascot of the team, ‘Racing Miku’ was designed by GAN, and has now been transformed into a 1/8th scale figure for fans to enjoy!

It’s a figure filled with highlights such as her unique transparent costume, detailed paintwork throughout the figure, and the dynamic sculpting of her hair!

FREEing’s Racing Miku was a 1/7th scale, but this one is 1/8th scale!!

Both of them are so cute!! I think that FREEing’s version had a slightly more mature air to it, while GSC’s version has more of a youthful charm! I’ve already done a review of FREEing’s version, which you can find here:

– FREEing’s 1/7th Scale Racing Miku: 2012 ver. –
http://mikatan.goodsmile.info/en/2013/01/16/17th-scale-racing-miku-2012-ver/
010
This is how she looks from the back!

Her twintails twirl about behind her giving the figure some amazing volume!

The dynamic sculpting really makes it look as if the wind is blowing through her hair! It’s beautiful!
004
Her cheeks look so soft and squishy!

They look so cute that I almost can’t help but put out my finger and poke them!!

Just look at her modest bust, not to mention the beautiful body-line between her collarbone and shoulder – I could stare at her in wonder all day long!!
007
I also love the area around her hips!

She has such a lovely slender build, and I can’t get enough of how soft her skin looks around her hips!! You can easily make out exactly where her thighs, hips and waist are – which is very important on a figure of a cute girl like this!
005
Her outfit is also incredibly detailed!

FREEing’s Racing Miku has a glossy looking outfit, but GSC’s version instead makes use of shiny pearl white paint!

Another very important highlight of the figure is everyone’s favorite armpits… but I still think the area around the hips is the best for me! I was trying to figure out why exactly I like it so much, and I came to the conclusion that it’s because the vivid 3D figure captures the cute 2D look so very perfectly!
006
Low Angle!

One shot that couldn’t be left out! ヽ(゚∀゚)ノ

It’s my job to make sure everyone is happy with what they see, and that’s the only reason I chose to take such a low angle photo! I swear it wasn’t for my own benefit!! 😛
008
Her amazing twintails!

The way her hair is twisting and turning in every direction looks absolutely amazing! It’s not only beautiful, but also still looks so amazingly natural…
I can only imagine how much work went into making this look so great!!
009
The whole figure has a light color scheme!

It makes her looks so light and airy, which personally I find to be lovely! The subtle coloring on her hair is also wonderful… the paintwork here must have been so difficult!

FREEing’s version has more solid colors, while GSC’s version has lighter feeling to it… I suppose which one everyone will prefer is down to personal taste!

1/8th Scale Homura Akemi: you are not alone.

Only 6 days left until WonFes!!

001
We’re finally down to less than a week!!

The whole of the GSC and Max Factory are completely in WonFes mood now! Each and every day goes by so quickly, I wish we had someone to cast a ‘Tick-Tock’ spell from Dragon Quest to give us more time! 😛

There are three more WonFes products that I need to review this week!
I had best get my camera ready!! (`・ω・´)b
002
From Puella Magi Madoka Magica:
Homura Akemi: you are not alone!

From the anime series ‘Puella Magi Madoka Magica’ comes a 1/8th scale figure of Akemi Homura, the time traveler who fought in endless parallel worlds. She comes with a number of replaceable parts which allow you to display her in all sorts of different poses. Enjoy both the confident and the shy Homura, all with just one figure!

You can enjoy different Homura poses with just one figure!!

We’ll start off my looking at the Homuhomu in the above picture. She has Madoka’s red ribbon in her hair and is holding her black bow in a very determined, confident looking pose.

This is pretty much the same pose as the 1/8th Scale Homura Akemi that was released in March last year – just the eyes have a slightly different feeling, as they were specially redone for this version!
012
This is how the packaging looks!

I always get rather excited when I see a scale figure with so many optional parts! Let me try using a couple and transforming her into another form!
003
Braided hair and red glasses!! Σ(゚Д゚;)

Glasses!! Homuhomu is so adorable with her glasses!!

Even though this head part is an extra which was made after the original sculpt, there isn’t any awkward feeling of disbalance – it looks just as good as the original head part! The sculptors here at GSC really are amazing at their work!!

This pose uses the alternate head, the right arm with a grenade and the left arm with a shield!

The grenade in her right hand isn’t stuck in place, so you can also display her without it, if you prefer!
004
This is how she looks from the back!

You can see her long, gently tied-up braids perfectly from this angle! The end of each braid also curls in at the end, which looks very cute!

And I know I’ve said it on the original figure before… but the back of her knees are so very sexy! Just look at them!!
005
This smile will get me though any day!!

Homuhomu is best known for her more serious expressions, but this gentle smile also suits her so well – particularly with the glasses!

The glasses can be removed and a spare pair are also included, just in case the first pair goes missing or breaks!
006
She can also hold the golf club!

Whenever I think of glasses Homuhomu, this is always the first optional part I hope to see! As you can see, you can pose her holding it with both hands!
009
Displayed with Madoka and Mami-san!

It definitely has a considerably different feeling when compared the original Homuhomu figure! Episode 10 really was such an amazing episode… I really can’t wait to see the next movie!! (ノД`)
007
Swap around the parts however you like!

There are a number of different poses you can make up with all the various parts, including a couple I didn’t show on the blog today.

Here I have her holding the bow with both hands as if it was the golf club – it creates quite a nice ladylike pose!
008
From Puella Magi Madoka Magica:
Homura Akemi: you are not alone!

She will be available at the WonHobby booth at the 2013 Wonder Festival (Winter)!

There will also be one week of online orders, so if you can’t make to the event, you can also order them online. (But they’ll be made to order, so they’ll only be delivered in June.)

Nendoroid Tsubasa Kazanari, Shiki Ryougi Garannodou & Nendoroid Hatsune Miku: Yukata Ver.!

001
So many releases in one month!!

January 2013 was definitely the month of releases for Good Smile Company! Today I’ll be taking a look at another three product samples that are shipping out shortly!

January Release Information
http://www.goodsmile.info/post/en/2068/
002
From Senki Zesshou Symphogear:
Nendoroid Tsubasa Kazanari!

From the anime series ‘Senki Zesshou Symphogear’ comes a Nendoroid of Tsubasa Kazanari, the character who uses ‘Ame no Habakiri’, the first Symphogear System! She comes with three different expressions including a smiling expression, an angry expression and a Swansong expression.

Tsubasa also comes with with four different Armed Gears to wield, including her standard sword, large sword, giant sword and leg blades. A Nendoroid-sized Noise figure is also included allowing you to recreate many popular combat scenes from the show!

She poses so easily and looks great!! Σ(゚∀゚ )

Her legs move around so smoothly, it’s so much fun making poses! The blades on the legs are also fitted with a ball joint so they can be rotated into various angles as well! They also are very hard to take off, so you don’t need to worry about them coming off all the time while you’re trying to pose her!
004
This is how the packaging looks!

She has three different weapons and three expressions! Plus the weapons are huge, and as everyone knows. I love girls with huge weapons!!

On the top right, you can also see the ‘threat to humanity’. the Noise which is also included with her. It’s not a little whale!

By the way, the special Nendoroid stands I spoke about on the22nd January are also included with Tsubasa-san! Last time I got the classroom and road stands, so this time I’m hoping to get the grass one!!
003
The much awaitedSwansong Expression!
It certainly has an amazing impact!

The special stand was actually the grass stand! That means I managed to get all the different stands!
005
From Kara no Kyoukai:
Shiki Ryougi Garannodou!

Shiki Ryougi, the main character of Kinoko Nasu’s light novel is coming back again as a part of Good Smile Company’s 10th anniversary rerelease project!

The pose is based on the cover illustration of the second book, and accurately reproduces the wistful atmosphere of the original art. Special care has also been taken in sculpting her understated bearing and intricate kimono pattern, making her distinctly vibrant and life-like.

Apologies for the delay!! (`・ω・´)

This was one of the products that was announced for rerelease as a part of the 10th anniversary rerelease polls! It ended up taking quite a while to actually be ready, but she has come out looking just as fantastic as ever! Fans of Kara no Kyoukai should not miss out on this amazing figure!!
006
The sculpting and paintwork are beautiful!

This is really one of my favorite characters ever, so I might be a bit biased… but she really looks absolutely fantastic! She was originally released in November 2008, so it’s actually a product from over four years ago – but even now the quality looks just as amazing as recent figures!
007
The expression and hair are also perfect!

Her solemn expression and short hair are a faultless rendition of Shiki! It’s figures like this that really make fans experience the character within the figure – it makes me once again realize how much I want to see more of figures like this, make more figures like this and send out more figure like this!!!!
008
This is how she looks from the back!

The curves of her body and the use of space are also such great aspects of her! Not to mention the amazing print on the kimono – the pattern isn’t just printed on directly, but carefully crafted to suit the creases and turns of the fabric with different graidents… it makes it look incredibly realistic!

As a Shiki fan I really think this is the definitive figure of her, and if you’re unsure whether or not you want her, I strongly recommend her!
009
Nendoroid Hatsune Miku: Yukata Ver.!

From the ‘Character Vocal Series 01: Hatsune Miku’ comes a Nendoroid of Hatsune Miku wearing a yukata!

The same cute Miku we’ve all come to love is wearing a dark blue yukata with beautiful flower prints scattered along it, creating a very refreshing version of Miku for the hot summer months! She comes with three expressions including her standard smiling expression, a shy expression with a slight blush and an exited expression with sparkling eyes. She also comes with a fan and a pouch that match her yukata perfectly!

This one won’t be in stores, it was a web sales product!

Those who ordered her should be receiving her shortly, if you ordered from the GSC-Tetsu Cafe you’ll be able to pick your order up from there. We also plan to have any excess stock on sale at the cafe from the 30th, so you might be able to pick one up there if you missed out on ordering.

Quite a simple looking blister pack that almost looks like one of the very first Nendoroids – but it also only cost ¥3000! I love Nendoroids with loads of goodies, but a simple Nendoroid for less is just as nice!
011
Swapping expressions!

The expression with sparkling eyes was the pride of Shuu-chan from the planning team. I’ve decided to but it on Shuukan Hajimete no Miku-san instead! She’s so cute!!

It’s quite a unique looking chibi expression, and I’m sure it’ll suit all the other Miku Nendoroids nicely!

Now for a quick summary of the blog:
Nendoroid Tsubasa Kazanari and Shiki Ryougi Garannodou will be on sale from the 29th, while Nendoroid Hatsune Miku: Yukata Ver. will be reaching those who ordered around the 30th! ヽ(゚∀゚)ノ

Those dates are for Japan though, if you waiting for products overseas or ordered Miku for international delivery, you’ll probably be waiting a little while longer!

Get in contact with our partner shops or the Good Smile Online Shop if you have any order or sales queries!

Anyway, that’s all for today!
I hope to see you all again tomorrow!! (・∀・)ノ゛

Wonder Festival 2013 (Winter):
10th February at the Makuhari Messe!

The WonFes struggle has only just begun!!

Everything surrounding the booth, from how it will look to what will be on display is all quietly being prepared!

Everything relating to this Winter’s WonFes has been closely supervised by Nitohei from Max Factory and Kanzaki from Good Smile! I don’t think Nitouhei has received a single good night’s sleep since he came back in January, I hope he is alright! Both of them have been hard at work to make a great event!

1/4th Scale Fate Testarossa: Swimsuit ver.

011
She’s bigger than a 500ml bottle…?

In fact, she’s considerably bigger than this bottle!! She is easily big enough to be seen as a trophy or something! Today we’ll be taking a look at this adorable figure!
012
Gift’s:
Fate Testarossa: Swimsuit ver.!

From ‘Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The MOVIE 1st’ comes a cute figure of Fate Testarossa wearing a bikini. Be sure to display her with the previously released Nanoha Takamachi: Swimsuit ver. for double the cuteness!

She is an amazing 1/4th scale size!! (((゚Д゚)))

She is huge… absolutely gigantic!! The best thing about figures this size, is that you simply can’t ignore them – they have such an incredible presence! I’m sure any Fate-chan fans would be happy to grab this without hesitation!!
013
This is how she looks from the back!

Her bikini certainly leaves a lot of bare skin to enjoy! From the front her bikini looks mostly white, but on the back it has the same dark blue color as the pareo she is holding!
015
A lovely youthful body-line!

The figure really captures Fate’s youth perfectly – it has a nice childish charm but also a sexy charm to it!

The ribs and pelvis that you can just see on her slender body are amazing, and the way her swimsuit tightens around the skin at the edges looks wonderful – I almost can’t stop myself from touching it! (I can’t seen it’s the prototype!!)
016
A close-up of her thighs!

Hmm… this picture is almost too naughty for this blog. ^^;
014
Such an innocent facial expression!

Ooh! She has such a cute face!! Every time Gift releases a new figure in the swimsuit series, they get cuter and cuter!!
017
This area looks so soft! (σ゚∀゚)σ

It’s unbelievable how a figure can create the same soft-looking appeal of real skin!! Not to mention that Fate is 1/4th scale – she’s huge and it still looks great!! Fans can really enjoy her to their heart’s content!!
018
Detailed all the way down to her toes!

Even the small details such as her stylish anklet and pedicure look lovely! The sandals also match with her swimsuit nicely for a fully color-coordinated outfit!
019
Her pareo has a lovely hibiscus print!

The sculpting of the wavy appearance on the pareo must have made placing the prints on the pareo very difficult, but Gift has done a great job with it!

The design on the pareo has a fairly mature air to it, which contrasts quite nicely with the youthful Fate! (*´∀`*)
012

She is already up for preorder! (`・ω・´)

1/7th Scale Racing Miku: 2012 ver.

001
Hmm? That looks like a prototype!

But why would there be a prototype here at the sales department? It must be from a company other than Good Smile…

The bag looks rather big, so I guess the figure must be quite big too… let me take it to my desk and put it together!
002
FREEing’s:
Racing Miku 2012 ver.!

A dynamic figure of the official mascot of the 2012 GT Project , ‘Racing Miku 2012 ver.’! Her long twin-tails are fluttering by her sides as she stands on one leg while waving a flag, creating a really dynamic figure that looks as if it could jump to life at any second. Racing Miku is dressed up and ready for the racing circuit, and now you can enjoy having her by your side whenever you like!

You can’t really tell from this photo, but she is really big!! (((゚Д゚)))

You should get a better feeling for the size over the next few photos! She is 1/7th scale, so it’s really quite an impressive size!
003
This is how she looks from the back!

I normally try to fit the figure photos behind a single monitor, but I just couldn’t fit her in from the back! The twintails give her so much extra volume – each takes up about the same amount of space as Miku’s entire body!
004
Her beaming smile has been faithfully recreated!

The 2012 Racking Miku-san was designed and illustrated by GAN-san! The expression still has a bit of a childish charm to it, and also features a lovely gradient in the eyes! All this has been kept in the figure beautifully!
005
Her shiny costume is so pretty!

The glossy paintwork just adds to the whole cyber feeling of her outfit! Many parts of her outfit also make use of clear materials, including the see-through areas, the tie and her skirt!
006
Wonderful curves!!

Just look at the twist in her slender waist, or the upward fluttering skirt at the back! This is definitely my favorite area on this figure, and I think the photo came out really nicely too!!

The balance between the visible skin and covered skin is wonderful!
007
This angle had to be included! (*゚∀゚*)

If you’re like me, then I’m sure that your eyes can’t help but wander to her hip-line, but I also want to highlight her thighs!! You can see the difference in the level of her skin where the boots end, and if you look at the see-through areas you can see they are also bulge out a little!!

The different materials used in her outfit are shown off by amazing sculpting!!
008
Twisty-turney twin-tails!

One of Racing Miku’s most defining features has to be her hair, and as you can see they have been beautifully sculpted twisting all around! They keep the same light and airy feeling from the illustration!
010
Her body-line from the front!

Hmm… the area around her belly button is very cute!

As you can see, it’s not just her upper body that is curving around, these is a horizontal twist to her entire body as well – this is a great example of a truly life-like, dynamic pose!!
009
FREEing’s:

Kuroko Shirai & Mikoto Misaka: Bunny Ver.

Hello everyone! My name is Gou, I’ve been a part of Good Smile Company’s sales team for about a year now – I work in sales not only domestically, but also overseas! To those of you who already know me from the Newcomer’s Blog, I’m glad to see you all again!

Mikatan is going to be out for the next few days, so in her place I’ll be taking over the blog for today! I was told to put up anything I enjoy, so today I’ll be taking a look at some figures from a series that I really enjoyed, and can’t wait for the upcoming second season!
g01
From Toaru Kagaku no Railgun:
Kuroko Shirai: Bunny Ver. & Mikoto Misaka: Bunny Ver.

Not only is a second season of Railgun on the way, but we also have the Toaru Majutsu no Index Movie coming up in February! It’s clear the series is still as popular as ever, and FREEing has made these lovely figures for fans to enjoy, so today I’ll be taking a closer look at them – starting off with this one:
g02
Kuroko Shirai: Bunny Ver!

From ”Toaru Kagaku no Raingun’ comes a 1/4th scale figure of Kuroko Shirai, the Judgment member who attends Tokiwadai Middle School together with Mikoto Misaka. She is dressed up in a bunny girl outfit with tights made from real fabric, and her trademark twin-tails have been faithfully sculpted together with a sexy pose that really lets her to show off her body!

She comes with two different expressions – her standard expression, as well as a expression with a broad grin across her face, allowing you to choose which expression you prefer! Mikoto Misaka is scheduled to be joining her shortly, so you’ll be able to enjoy both the girls together!

The shiny black bunny girl outfit definitely suits her personality nicely! The sexy bunny suit also mixes nicely with her slender body-line and is quite a treat for fans!

And if we take a look at the back…

g03
We have a lovely bunny tail!!

That white ball of fluff really brings the outfit together, and the sexy pose shows off her thighs very nicely!

g04
She also comes with an alternate grinning expression!

Just by looking at this wonderful expression I expect to hear her shout out ‘Oneesama!’ at any second! Another thing to note is the twists and twirls in her hair – even at 1/4th scale they look great and add some nice volume to the huge figure!

But that’s not all for today, I’ll also be taking a look at the Ace of Tokiwadai – Mikoto Misaka!
g05
Mikoto Misaka: Bunny Ver.!

From ”Toaru Kagaku no Raingun’ comes a 1/4th scale figure of one of Academy City’s seven Level 5 espers, ‘Mikoto Misaka’, wearing a cute, white bunny girl outfit! Her net tights are made from real fabric for a realistic effect. The chair she sits on is also included, and allows you to display her sitting comfortably with one hand near her breasts in a slightly suggestive pose.

She comes with both her standard expression as well as an embarrassed expression, allowing you to decide how you’d rather see her! Be sure to display her together with the previously announced Kuroko Shirai: Bunny Ver.!

Mikoto-chan has a white bunny suit and red ribbon which make her look absolutely adorable! The colors also contrast very nicely with Kuroko, which means displaying them together looks amazing!! The slightly embarrassed look on her face is also lovely!

And if we spin her around to the back…
g06
Just look at all the soft skin the bunny suit leaves open to enjoy!!

g07
She comes with an embarrassed expression!

Mikoto is best known for her more vigorous side, but seeing her with a slightly worried, embarrassed expression makes her look so innocent!
Hmm… it seems Nagaizumi-san, the head of the sales team has brought some boxes…

“Don’t you want to add some photos of the prototypes to the review?”

g08
The prototypes are here!!!

FREEing had both of them ready for us to borrow for this blog post! I’ll be sure to put them to good use for my review now, so that we’ve got a nice review before they’re sent off to China!

Alright, let’s take another look, but this time through my very own pictures!

I’ll start off with Mikoto Misaka!
g09

This photo shows the way her shoulders are slightly bent over, and also shows the curled finger she is idly waving around.

It’s nice how the positioning of the finger and hand manage to show she isn’t all that comfortable – I guess she isn’t exactly used to wearing an outfit like this! Be sure to take a closer look if you decide to pick her up!
g10

The net tights have been on a number of FREEing’s figures in the past, but I think this is the first time we’ve seen garter belts!

The cute frills that end the stockings suit Mikoto’s love for cute clothes, not that she’ll ever admit it! The detail on the frills as well as the net tights are both so impressive!
g11

You can even see the way the tight garter belt is pressing against her skin… FREEing puts so much work into perfecting these outfits!

Mikoto is quite well known to wear shorts under her skirt, but this outfit actually lets us get a peek at what she is hiding under those shorts! This area will definitely catch a lot of fans attention, particularly when compared to figures of her in her school uniform.

Next up we have Kuroko Shirai!
g12

The sculpting of her hair looks so soft, and the slight bends in the twintails look great. The soft, airy hair actually contrasts against the tight bunny girl outfit very nicely!
g13

Her stomach area looks very tight from the shiny outfit – seeing this makes me wish I was a member of Judgement myself! The whole shape of her body from the one arm brushing through her hair down to these lovely curves is absolutely beautiful!
g01

From Toaru Kagaku no Railgun:
Kuroko Shirai: Bunny Ver. & Mikoto Misaka: Bunny Ver.!

They are both currently up for preorder! °+(*´∀`)b°+°

Having both of them displayed together in 1/4th scale really is gorgeous! The contrast in colors as well as in the difference between the confident Kuroko and the embarrassed Mikoto is simple wonderful, and I’m sure that fans will enjoy both of them! (*´д`*)

Get in contact with our partner shops if you have any preorder or sales queries!

Anyway, that’s all for today!
Perhaps we’ll meet at events or exhibitions sometime!

Chan Shuu from the planning team will be taking over the blog tomorrow!
