I really feel like going to Kyoto!! I met with a friend from my university in Kyoto the other day and now I really want to go visit!!

Anyway, today I’m going to be taking a look at ORANGE ROUGE’s latest figure!

The 1/8th Scale…
Yamatonokami Yasusada!

From the popular browser game ‘Touken Ranbu -ONLINE-‘ comes a 1/8th scale figure of Yamatonokami Yasusada based on his standard standing pose from the game.His calm and collected expression, graceful stance and equipment painted to retain its lacquered appearance have all been faithfully recreated in figure form, bringing the charm of Yamatonokami Yasusada to fans to enjoy by their side! Be sure to add him to your collection!

Not easy to handle, but a good sword.”

That blue and white haori coat and gentle expression from the original illustration has been preserved perfectly!! The sword was originally owned by the Shinsengumi captain, Okita Souji – Yamatonokami Yasusada is becoming a 1/8th scale figure!

His gentle looking blue eyes, eyebrows with a strong will behind them, the beauty spot under his left eye… and that cute smiling mouth that makes me imagine his voice!! All the charms from the game have been faithfully preserved in figure form for fans to enjoy! The different textures of the outfit have also been beautifully crafted!! (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧

Let’s see how he looks from the back! ♪

The front of his hair is sticking out to the sides, and the ponytail made in the image of a Pomeranian’s tail looks so lovely and fluffy from the back! While the pose is just a rather simple standing pose, the sculpt of his haori and hair wafting about in the wind gives the figure a lovely feeling of motion! (´□｀｡)

They say he is a sword that is not easy to handle, but the gentle and quiet expression on his face makes me think that he would be so easy to get along with! ♪

△ I’ve always liked the big jump between his standard and combat poses!

However! No matter how gentle he may appear, there are elements that clearly capture his masculine side as well!

Let’s start off with a simple example… (*´Д｀)=з

His neatly, short cut nails and somewhat bony fingers… not to mention the size of the hand itself!

This angle really makes the hand look so nice and manly!! Another part that has a rather masculine feel for me is his neck muscles! (｡･ω･)ﾉﾞ

You can only get a glimpse of the neck through the scarf, but those muscles look so perfect!! They’re not huge or anything, but they are sticking out just enough to notice them!

The first time you look at him the expression and pose can make you think of him a bit too high on the cute scale…

But once you look at him in detail you can really tell he has been carefully sculpted as a male character!! A sword boy!!

Speaking of details… take a look at the tufty accessory on his front, or crests on his hands or the lacquered appearance of his chest armor…

Or the woven, thick appearance of his Japanese sandals…

Even the smallest accessories and details are so intricately sculpted!

As usual, the details on the sword itself – the scabbard, guard and grip are all amazing to look at as well! ♥︎

Plus looking from this angle you can see up his sleeve – the layer of clothing beneath the haori has also been sculpted! This kind of angle was never seen on the original illustration, showing you just one of the many new discoveries you can have when you change from a 2D illustration into a figure!! (´□｀｡)

The long arm covers that also cover up most of his hand even include the rings that go around his thumb and middle fingers! ♪

Uzuki Shimamura: Crystal Night Party Ver.: A Talk With the Sculptor and Painter

My eyes… my eyes!!! My allergies are really acting up today… (/ω＼)

Anyway, today I’m going to be speaking to the sculptor and and painter of Uzuki Shimamura: Crystal Night Party Ver.! – Kai Sasaki (Shashaki) and Ekoshi!

– Your Favorite Point –

Shashaki: I sculpted this figure knowing that she would be in the center of the three New Generation girls. I really wanted to bring out that feeling of what it means to be an idol!

Ekoshi: I was told to make her look ‘sparkling’, when I started my paintwork!

(・∀・) This “sparkling” look was also mentioned by the expression painter! It must have really become a theme for the figure!

“Even the pose for the figure was thought up here in the GSC Offices. We had a rough illustration of the three of them together in the final pose, and as soon as I saw that illustration I knew I had to make Uzuki look great as the centrepiece to the set.”

(・∀・) “They will surely all look great as single figures, but the design really caters to those who want to display them as a set!”

“Another point that I really like is the fact that there is a nice difference between the previously released Shimamura Uzuki: New Generation Ver.!”

△ Shimamura Uzuki: New Generation Ver. (Sculpted by GSC’s Manabu Katou!)

“The previous Uzuki figure was based on one of the card illustrations from the game, and it has a very 2D-based appearance because of this. This is by no means a bad thing and certainly has its own charms, but this time around I wanted to bring out her cuteness in a different way, and went for a slightly more realistic sculpt.“

(・∀・) “The fabric of her outfit around the chest and gloves that is being moved by her pose has been sculpted with such high levels of detail!”

“I actually went out and bought similar gloves and put them on myself to see exactly how they looked! For science!!”

(・∀・) “Seen the pose was made by GSC, that means that there was no original illustration to work with… it must have been quite a test for your both your creativity and sculpting ability!”

“I was working on this while the anime was airing on TV, and I remember shedding a couple of tears for Uzuki while I cheered her on… she was always so adorable in the opening theme! My sculpt just kept remembering that cuteness, and aiming to get the figure just as cute!”

“I also often thought of the opening theme when working on the paintwork. That sparkling outfit with the light blue of the skirt and blue lines that lay along her outfit were really the points that really stood out to me.”

(・∀・) “Ah… the blues on the outfit are really lovely!”

“In order to get the blues to stand out against the white, I had to layer the colors in a slightly different way to normal! But I think the colors came out really nicely in the end! The flowing accessory on her back makes use of pearl paint as well as a half-glossy white that gives a really bright appearance that suits her so well!”

– Other Highlights –

“For me, her hair is easily one of the biggest highlights!! The twirling ends of her hair are so twisty… and even this is after a couple of changes that made them a little bit more straight!”

“When painting the figure, the prototype is first duplicated with multiple casts… the hair alone was made of of 14 different parts to paint, which is quite unbelievable. But I felt the passion of Shashaki’s sculpting and did my best to match his passion for the paintwork!!”

“The hair was also the area that went though the most changes since the unpainted prototype was revealed, I said earlier I was aiming for a more realistic sculpt, and that included the details and flow of the hair! It was very difficult to decide just how much each strand should twist, or where to straighten out a bit more a better appearance… I spent a lot more time than you’d imagine working on the hair!”

(・∀・) “No matter what angle you choose to look from, the hair always makes for such a nice accent to the overall figure!”

– What Area worked on by the Other Did You Like Best? –

“I love the way the gloves have been painted, as well as the white hem of the skirt. I really tried to give the gloves a texture through the sculpt, but it was only after it was painted that the texture really came out nicely. The white part on the skirt was actually a little more of a creamy white before some changes went though…”

“That’s right! At first it was more of a yellow color, but while we were taking a look at it within GSC it was agreed that it would look better as a straight-up white! As soon as I went with the white instead I instantly knew that was the right choice. As I mentioned before, we then added in more gloss and pearl paint in order to get closer to that ideal shininess!!”

(・∀・) “What did you like most about the sculpt, Ekoshi?”

“The layers of the skirt and the hair really stand out… but I’d have to say the way her knee-highs are squeezing her skin is my best!!”

“Originally the thighs were a little larger than they are now… but after some discussion it was decided they needed to be thinned down a bit to be closer to the character designs.”

“The way her hips are slightly turned is also a really lovely touch! Plus she looks amazing from the back!! You can just imagine being the producer and watching your idol from backstage when you look at her from the back!!“

(・∀・) “I also love the way she looks from the back with her outfit trailing out behind her! You can also pose her with her gaze to the side and pretend to be looking up to her on stage as a fan instead! ♡”

“Depending on the angle you look from the face can have quite a different impression! I hope that fans enjoy her from all sorts of different angles if they decide to pick her up!”

I had the pleasure of seeing the figure for myself… the creases on the gloves, the flow of the outfit, her adorable smile, cute posing, fluffy hair and impressive skirt all come together in lovely detail to create such an amazing figure. You can really feel the love for Uzuki that has been poured into this figure!!

I currently have the Nendoroid, figma and other scale figures of Uzuki on display in my house, but I can’t wait to add this one to my collection!! On that note, I’m so happy that there are so many different figures of Uzuki to choose from!! She is really loved by the fans, which makes me feel happy as well!! Thanks everyone!!

FREEing’s ‘NicoRinPana’ – Nico Yazawa, Rin Hoshizora and Hanayo Koizumi!

I always feel nostalgic when I see the new students going to school in uniform for the first time!! I hope they will enjoy the next few years of their studies!!

Anyway, today I’m going to be taking a look at FREEing’s…

Nico Yazawa/Rin Hoshizora/Hanayo Koizumi!

They have jumped out from the radio and into the figure world! Each of these figure is based on the CD jackets from the ‘LoveLive! μ’s PR Team ~NicoRinPana~’ CDs! ♪

This is how they look from the back!

The rather simple poses have capture the feeling of movement so nicely!

The way the skirts are fluttering about, each of their postures as well as the way their hair is moving all comes together to capture such a lovely scene!

The creases on the blazer from the closed buttons as they pull on the fabric has been recreated so faithfully! ★

Uzuki Shimamura: Crystal Night Party Ver.: A Talk With the Expression Painter

Hello everyone, Kahotan here! (@gsc_kahotan)

I can’t get over at the cold temperature this morning after such a warm weekend! Where did the nice weather go?!

Anyway, today I’m going to be speaking to the person responsible for Uzuki Shimamura: Crystal Night Party Ver.‘s adorable expression – Ranran! ♪

– Your Favorite Point –

Ranran: “I wanted to preserve that sparkling, clear smile from episode 24 of the anime series as best possible!!”

(・∀・) “You’ve mentioned the word ‘sparkling’ a lot when talking about this figure. It must be very important!
“This is actually only the third scale figure expression I have ever worked on, and by far the one that has had the most revisions. I really tried again and again until I felt I had captured the sparkling smile as best I could!”

△ One of the Ranran’s previous expressions, Honda Mio: New Generation Ver.

“I’ve long been a fan of the Cinderella Girls game, and when I think of Uzuki’s expression the first one that comes to mind is the one illustrated by Annin Doufu – so my basis of the expression was originally on those illustrations. For example the top part of the black of the eyes would meet up with the eyelashes without white in-between, similar to her art style.”

(・∀・) “I see, I see. But that slowly changed?”

“Yep. When I first had the expression checked by the publisher I was provided with a much more lively-faced set of reference illustrations, which is when the figure got changed to have the energetic smile that helps put a smile on everyone’s face that you can see now. That’s not to say that my first expression wasn’t energetic, but this was just on a whole new level! Plus, based on the reference illustrations, the gap between the black of the eye and the eyelashes has a bit of white added in!”

(・∀・) “Ah-hah! You can see a little bit of a white gap on the photos for the figure now!”

“Adding in that white gap actually made the eyes look wider open, adding to the energetic look and smile! Her smile isn’t just cute, its actually quite inspiring to look at as well!”

(・∀・) “The smile is really amazing. Not only is it really cute, but just looking at it makes me feel all happy inside!”

“Including both the prototype and painted prototype I must have redrawn the expression around 4-5 times in total now. Probably the most I’ve ever done for a figure. I’ve really become quite attached to the expression now!”

(・∀・) “The pose of the figure was also an original pose made here in the GSC offices, correct?”

“That’s right! We came up with the idea for the pose here and then the planner and sculptor talked directly with the director to get it perfect. It was my first experience with such a project, but it was actually really interesting trying to come up with a good pose that fans would enjoy. We wanted to ensure they would look great alone, and absolutely amazing with all three displayed together!“

(・∀・) “Is painting a scale figure’s expression very different from a Nendoroid expression?”

“The fact that the expression isn’t ‘chibi’ means that even the slightest change in angle or highlights can make a rather huge impression. Making tiny changes made me so nervous! By the way, there is another male figure on the way that I painted the expression on as well – I hope everyone will like him!“

Today’s Main Feature…!

Today I’m going to be taking a look at this idol by Phat! Company, currently up for preorder…

Azusa Miura!

From the anime series ‘IDOLM@STER’ comes a 1/8th scale figure of the gentle ‘older sister’ idol, Azusa Miura! The pose is based on the illustration by director Atsushi Nishigori seen on the 3rd volume of the Blu-ray & DVD jacket for the anime series.

The pose features Azusa with a lovely smile and upturned eyes, dressed in casual clothes that give a feel for her fashion sense while also showing off her impressive figure! Be sure to add her to your idol collection!

A lovely scale figure of the relaxed idol, Azusa Miura!

The bent neck, upwards gaze and gentle expression all capture the loving yet carefree personality of Azusa so effectively! (●´ω｀●)

The light pink color of Azusa’s sweater together with the intricate little patterns all suit her character very nicely! ヽ(ﾟ◇ﾟ )ﾉ

The sculpt also gives off that puffy look that sweaters get, along with looking just like real fabric!!

The intricate stitching along the jeans as well as the slight gradient paintwork on both the jeans and her very practical looking boots all look lovely!

The little opening of skin you can see from the back is also not to be missed! (´□｀｡)

△ The body-line from the front also shows her rather ample bosom!

Today’s Main Feature!

Today I’m going to be taking a look at one of Phat Company’s recently announced items…

The 1/7th Scale

Zuihou!

From the popular browser game ‘Kantai Collection -KanColle-‘ comes a 1/7th scale figure of the Shouhou Class Light Carrier, ‘Zuihou’! She has been posed in a dynamic battle scene launching attack planes out on a base made in the image of the open ocean. The intricate sculpting and texturing of the ship parts create a figure filled with highlights for fans to enjoy.

“Right, let’s do this! All attack planes, take off!”

The Shouhou Class Light Carrier with a small body but a powerful impact, Zuihou as a scale figure! She is posed in a lovely dynamic pose as if she has just fired off one arrow and is reaching for the next! ♡

Her outfit and hair are blowing about in the wind together with the ocean at her feet making the figure feel so full of motion! (｀・ω・´)ゞ

This is how she looks from the back!

The twisted posture makes for a very unique pose for the figure, with the huge bow giving the figure some impressive height as well! The little planes flying by her legs also bring out the KanColle universe so nicely while also balancing out the front side of the figure!! Amazing work from Phat Company! (*´Д｀)=з

Her determined expression matches with her confident pose perfectly! She knows that arrow is going to strike its target!

Her strong-willed eyes really capture the seriousness of the battle around her!!

I also love the almost cat-like shape of her mouth! It adds a hint of cuteness to the overall serious pose! Also take note of the detail of the water splashing about on her base! (੭ु ›ω‹ )੭ु⁾⁾

The torrential flow of the ocean really helps paint the picture of the battle going on around her! The waves are sculpted using semi-transparent parts that make them look lovely!

A look from the side brings out the power of the waves even more! (・ω・)/

△ You can almost hear the roaring splash of the ocean just looking at it!

Plus the details on her quiver of ‘arrows’!! (｡･ω･)ﾉﾞ

Of course as a carrier in KanColle, all of her arrows are airborne ships! Zuihou’s have a lovely white, yellow and red color scheme!

The planes flying at her legs are lovely detailed, but even these tiny little planes have been painted and sculpted with such intricate detail! ♪

There are still many more highlights though – for example the area behind her knees, the big baggy appearance of the pants and the contrasting mechanical appearance of the ship parts on her back!

The soft look of Zuihou’s skin and outfit suddenly switches to a very rigid and industrial appearance on the ship parts! The figure has a very dynamic look overall, but I think it’s the smaller details of the movement that really bring it to life as a whole!! (‘-‘*)(,_,*)(‘-‘*)(,_,*)

The flowing hair, detailed planes and mechanical ship parts… not to mention the peek at her sleeve from the extended arm!

Be sure to enjoy her from all sorts of different angles!! So much lovely Zuihou detail converted into figure form for fans to enjoy in their collection!!

Nendoroid Captain America: Hero’s Edition

From ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ comes a figure of the leader of the Avengers, Captain America! The fully articulated Nendoroid has been carefully sculpted and painted with his unique design and coloring based on the US flag, ensuring he looks impressive no matter what pose you choose to display him in!

His trademark shield can attach to his left or right arm using a special attachment, allowing you to choose which better suits your pose. The shield can also be placed on his back, which even allows him to balance without the need for a stand! Effect parts to display him throwing the shield are included adding even more play value!

In addition, the included stand is based on the final battle scene from the movie and can be combined with the base included with the previously released ‘Nendoroid Iron Man Mark 45: Hero’s Edition‘ in order to complete the full circular base – a large dioramic base that really brings out the atmosphere of the Avengers for fans to enjoy!

Uzuki Shimamura: Crystal Night Party Ver.

I really cannot hide my shock that it is already April tomorrow… tomorrow people all over will be starting a new school year, or new jobs! How exciting!

Anyway, today I’m going to be taking a look at a product that went up for preorder earlier today…

Uzuki Shimamura:
Crystal Night Party Ver.!

From the popular anime ‘THE IDOLM@STER CINDERELLA GIRLS’ comes a 1/8th scale figure of the New Generations member Uzuki Shimamura in a ‘Crystal Night Party’ version!

Uzuki is posed wearing the ‘Crystal Night Party’ outfit she is seen wearing in both the opening theme of the anime’s second season as well as in the last episode of the series. It is an outfit that shouts out what it means to be an idol with it’s shining and colorful design – a design which has been intricately sculpted and painted for fans to enjoy in their collection.

Both Rin Shibuya and Mio Honda are also planned to be released in their ‘Crystal Night Party’ versions, so be sure to display the three together!

Isn’t she amazing?!

As she spins around in the photos above you really get a nice feel for the way her outfit and hair is flowing! Not to mention the cute, cheerful pose she is in! (‘-‘*)(,_,*)(‘-‘*)(,_,*)

The gloves and knee-high socks also have intricate little creases sculpted on them that really make the material of the outfit look realistic – plus you can so easily make out the movement of her arms and legs through the outfit!

This is one of those figures that I really find it quite hard to decide on an angle for… she looks so amazing no matter which side I choose to look from! You’ll have to decide for yourself once she joins your figure shelf!! ♪

But if I had to pick one, I love this lower angle off to the side! (●´ω｀●)

△ I’s like she is standing up on the stage before me!!

We also made a TV commercial for the figure, so be sure to take a look!!

Hatsune Miku: Orange Blossom Ver.

Today I’m going to be taking a look at Max Factory’s latest release…

Hatsune Miku: Orange Blossom Ver.!

From SEGA’s rhythm game ‘Hatsune Miku -Project Diva- F 2nd’ comes a 1/7th scale of Hatsune Miku dressed in the Orange Blossom module! The unique look of the bright orange and blue outfit has been completely recreated with the use of pearl paints.

The figure is sculpted by Grizzry Panda known for sculptwork with a keen edge, which suits the futuristic design of the Orange Blossom outfit perfectly. Add the unique Miku to your collection and enjoy every detail of the work of art whenever you please!

Hatsune Miku in her futuristic Orange Blossom outfit!

The Orange Blossom outfit, or ‘module’ as it is known in the Hatsune Miku -Project DIVA- F 2nd game has been transformed into a lovely 1/7th scale figure! The contrast between Miku’s soft looking skin and the semi-futuristic kind of mecha appearance of her outfit contrast so nicely and have all been sculpted beautifully! Not to mention the pearl paintwork on the outfit which makes it look just like it did in the game!! ♪

The posing is also so very cute and matches the outfit nicely, creating a figure filled with Miku charm for fans to add to their collections! ♡

Let’s see how she looks from the back! (｡･ω･)ﾉﾞ

The fluttering appearance of the ribbons together with the gradient paintwork on them looks amazing from the back! Miku’s spine and shoulder blades are also a treat for the eyes, and all those creases along her outfit really make it look like actual clothes… the amount of detail is simply outstanding ♡

Her hair makes use of translucent parts on the end giving it a very light and transparent appearance that matches with the somewhat futuristic design!

Let’s take a closer look at her outfit!

The shining appearance comes from the fact that the outfit is painted with a pearl paint!

The fluttering appearance of the skirt as well as all the intricate ups and downs of the frills have all been carefully painted… I really wish everyone could see the figure in person!! You really need to experience this with your own two eyes!! The pearly paintwork really makes the details of Grizzry Panda’s sculpt stand out wonderfully! (‘-‘*)(,_,*)(‘-‘*)(,_,*)

If we take a closer look at her hand…

The texture of the glove’s material is clearly there, and even stretched out to the point that you can just make out some of her skin color!

Her expression is a innocent and playful smile! (●´ω｀●)

The cute open mouth is actually carved out ever so slightly as a part of the sculpt, making it look slightly different depending on the angle you choose to look from! ♪

Plus those curves from her armpits to her upper arm… they are perfect to say the least!!

Although the thighs sticking out from her frilly skirt are also not to be missed!!

Today I’m going to be taking a look at FREEing’s…
IS <Infinite Stratos> Bunny Girl Project!

The cute heroines of IS <Infinite Stratos> all sculpted in 1/4th scale dressed up in sexy bunny girl outfits for fans to enjoy! (●´ω｀●)

As usual, the net tights are made from real fabric for an authentic appearance!

Each of the girls also has their personal IS in standby mode somewhere on their designs! ♪

The bunny girl outfits give each of the girls a slightly sexy design while still keeping their character and personality within the design! Each of the poses is also rather different – and they are slowly but surely being announced for preorder as of a few weeks ago! The first of which was…

Charlotte Dunois: Bunny Ver.

From the anime series ‘IS <Infinite Stratos>’ comes a 1/4th scale figure of the IS Representative Candidate of France, Charlotte Dunois dressed up in a bunny girl outfit! She is posed with a slightly bashful smile on her face with a sexy white bunny outfit.

The net stockings make use of real material for an authentic appearance and texture on the figure. The other heroines in the series are also planned to join the series at a later stage, allowing you to display them altogether to bring out the Infinite Stratos universe in your collection! Be sure to add the new IS bunny girl series to your collection!

The twirling appearance of her hair has been beautifully sculpted! The impressive volume of her bosom as well as her gentle eyes also look amazing! (*´Д｀)=з

Lingyin Huang: Bunny Ver.

The twintails fluttering around her as she lifts her hand in an energetic pose that really captures Rin-chan’s personality!

The sculpt of the area from her armpit down to her chest has such lovely curves! I can’t help but want to run my finger along them!! ♡

Tatenashi Sarashiki: Bunny Ver. & Kanzashi Sarashiki: Bunny Ver.

Both of the Sarashiki sisters dressed up in bunny outfits!! The difference in their personalities comes out so effectively through their poses! Even the way the bunny ears are flopping over is different between them! (*´Д｀)=з

Good Smile Company’s Latest Challenge! (｡･ω･)ﾉﾞ

After reaching its 15th anniversary, Good Smile Company is taking a step into the world of Smart Phone Games. The first game will be a classic RPG designed with multiplayer battles – Grand Summoners. The multiplayer system will allow players to quest together in groups of four, each controlling one character. The game has been directed by Hisatoshi Hayakashi from Aidis.

Hisatoshi Hayakashi has been working on mobile games since 2001, and was the general director for the hit game ‘Brave Frontier’ in 2013. Thereafter he worked on Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius with Square Enix before establishing his own company ‘Aidis’ on the 27th of January 2016. Ever since the company’s establishment, Aidis has been hard at work on building Grand Summoners.

The development of the game is by NextNinja, with music by Elements Garden. The game will also feature voice talent from well-known voice actors such as Tetsuya Kakihara, Saori Gotou, Satoshi Hino and more – all ready to bring you a fantasy world filled with endless potential! The game is currently planned for a released in July of 2016 – be sure to stay tuned for more information!
