Aoi Sakurai

Hello everyone, Kahotan here! (@gsc_kahotan)

Whenever I sit in box seating on trains, I always get the feeling I’m going on holiday! I also always feel like eating something seen you get a table in front of you!

Anyway, today I’m going to be taking a look at an item going up for preorder tomorrow from Max Factory!

The 1/7th Scale…

Aoi Sakurai!

The troublemaker with unparalleled accuracy and a hatred of men.

From the anime series ‘RAIL WARS!’ comes a 1/7th scale figure of Aoi Sakurai! The figure is based on the cover illustration of the original novel’s second volume.

Everything about the original illustration has been faithfully included on the figure – down to the ripped stockings and the smaller details on items such as her pistol and ID card. Her left hand is shaped like a pistol, ready to fire right through the heart of her fans!

Oooooooooooooohhh!! (*´Д`)=з

The tomboyish, confident young woman with skill in both ranged and close combat! She is also the well-known troublemaker from the Tokyo Central Railway Public Security Office Defence Four Squad, who will jump right into the deep end whenever something happens! A scale figure of Aoi Sakurai!!

Her left hand is placed in a gun pose with a rather playful wink on her face! It all comes together for a very sexy pose! (/ω\)

This is how she looks from the back! ☆

[[[5

The way her hair is tied up giving a little peek at her ears is lovely and all, but I think most people’s eyes will head down to those rather soft looking curves first! The combination of the tight skirt and the pose make for an eye catching sculpt!

Then if we take a look from a higher angle…

She has her ID Card held in her mouth, her blouse unbuttoned at the top showing off her neckline and torn stockings showing off even more bare skin!

A rather unique pose that shows off both her personality and her beautiful body! ♡

As mentioned in the product description above, the pose is based on the cover illustration of the original novel’s second volume! (`・ω・´)ゞ

△ Displayed together with the book!

Just look at how close it is to the original! Not only the sculpt, but the paintwork as well…

(・∀・) “We really tried our best to capture the charm of Vania 600’s illustration!”

We’re joined by the figure’s planner, Kaneko Nitohei (Max Factory)!

(・∀・) “The way Vania 600 makes use of reds, or gives the stockings an almost transparent look were all very carefully considered… we had many meetings discussing how the painting would be done!”

The gradient on the jacket and skirt look exactly like they did in the illustration!! (; ・`д・´)

The sculpting of the stockings is incredible, but even more so is the way you can make out the more stretched out areas by the paintwork!

(・∀・) “The ‘aspect of stocking‘ really comes out nicely on the figure! Just look at the knees and under the feet to see the stretch effect and creases at the very best!”

The aspect of stocking…!!

(What an incredible choice of words from Kaneko Nitohei!! (●´ω`●) )

As mentioned above, the sole of her foot is amazing!

△ Note the lighter area of her heel, and the creases at the arch of her foot!

(・∀・) “We also paid very careful attention to all the smaller items included with her or on her outfit… for example her belt buckle…”

△ If you look from this angle you can see the amazing detail!

(・∀・) “Her railroad security officer ID with the emblem, as well as the pistol holster at her side as well! Also note the bunched-up sleeve…”

△ Personally I really love the muscle you can see on the arm too!

(・∀・) “By the way, I think the final product will allow you to place the five bullets however you please! They might be small, but they are still detailed!”

△ Her pistol for self-defence is also looking great! ♪

(・∀・) “A figure that can be enjoyed from almost any angle!”

Filled with details and sculpted with love!

The 1/7th scale…

Aoi Sakurai

figma Saber: Dress ver.

 Only 4 days until WonFes?!

Hello everyone, Kahotan here! (@gsc_kahotan)

Whenever I see sleet I always think it looks rather tasty… but I am truly hoping that the weekend will be sunny!!

Many of you may have seen that my blog says ‘Only 4 days left until WonFes!’, but when I was checking the GSC page earlier today I noticed a banner that clearly said… only three days left!?

Huh…?!

There are only three days left?! (((( ;°Д°))))

(I guess it depends on how you count it!)

If you don’t include today, I guess it is just three days to go! Either way, there is not much time left until we’re at the event!!  (´□`。)!

Today I’ll be taking a look at the forth and final WonFes figure!
Here is the line-up once more!!

Nendoroid Snow Miku: Snow Bell Ver.

Nendoroid Battleship Re-Class

figma Snow Miku

figma Saber: Dress ver.

Which mean’s that today I’m obviously taking a look at…

figma Saber: Dress ver.!♪

“There is one last thing I need to say…”

From the popular anime Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works] comes a figma of Saber wearing her dress without armor!
· Using the smooth yet posable joints of figma, you can act out a variety of different scenes.
· She comes with three expressions including a gallant face, a gentle smile and a bright smile filled with happiness.
· Optional parts include Excalibur and its scabbard Avalon, as well as the bamboo sword from the series.
· She also comes with alternate hair parts to display her hair blowing gently in the wind.
· An articulated figma stand is included, which allows various poses to be taken.

Oooooooooooooohhh!!! (●´ω`●)

A gentle smile with her lovely blue and white dress! A much more relaxed version of Saber compared to her normal armored appearance!

The elegant dress combined with her angelic smile…

It’s hard to think of her as a servant in Holy Grail War when she looks like this…

This version also features her with her hair untied up, and the hair comes in both a standard version as well as a more dynamic one – as if being blown by a gentle breeze! I’m sure that wind has a lovely fresh scent to it as well! <○><○>

Along with the gentle smile above,

She also comes with a more confident expression!

The bamboo sword that appeared in the anime series ‘Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works]’ is also included! I want to display her with a certain other character from the series as soon as possible!

Excalibur and its scabbard Avalon are also included!

Even if she isn’t wearing her armor, you can still place her in poses worthy of the ultimate servant! She looks so brave and confident!! (σ・∀・)σ

Let’s move onto her third and final expression…

A smile filled with love!! ♡

Kaneko Nitohei from Max Factory said he wanted to bring out the cuter side of Saber with this version, which is why this line-up of expressions was decided on! (*´Д`)ノ

By the way, the expressions on this Saber can of course be used with the previously released figma Saber 2.0! This allows for even more Saber poses than ever before!  ♪

For example…! ヽ(*・ω・)人(・ω・*)ノ

The shouting expression from Saber 2.0 can be used for a much more fierce battle scene while in dress form! Otherwise maybe you can have her embarrassed expression together with the dress form…! (●´ω`●)

Simply combine parts until you have found your favorite Saber! ♡

The shoulder are made with drawer joints just like Saber 2.0, allowing for more and easier poses! (*゚ー゚*)

Bring home your very own ultimate servant!

Nendoroid Plus: Capsule Factory ~Snow Miku and Friends from the North~ SEASON 1

Hello everyone, Kahotan here! (@gsc_kahotan)

I’m having a bit of trouble with cavities at the moment… they don’t hurt that much, but when I go to get them treated the drilling to fix them always hurts!

Anyway, today I’m going to be taking a set of figures that can even calm the pain of the dentist…

!

Snow Miku is back with a bunch of cute friends made in the image of animals found in the Winter of Hokkaido! Each of the figures are based on cute designs by illustrator Kiriku, creating a lovely line-up filled with adorable variety!

The Capsule Factory neck joints are also compatible with Nendoroid Petite figures, allowing you to use the Capsule Factory heads on Nendoroid Petites for some extra posing options as well!

They’re so cute!!!! (●´ω`●)

Each of these figures stands just 40mm in height! They are so tiny, yet so very lovely!  <○><○>

Let’s take a look at who is in the set!

Left: Snow Miku: Snow Bell Ver.

The 2015 version of Snow Miku based around a Hokkaido Winter! ♪

Middle: Rabbit Yukine

Right: Hatsune Miku x Hokkaido Brown Bear

Her hair accessory is made in the image of a Sargent cherry blossom!

Each of the Mikus have long twin-tails, while Rabbit Yukine has long ears!

This is how they look from the back! ☆

Even the respective tails of each animal has been faithfully sculpted onto the little designs! I love the way the fox tail is curling to the side!! (*´Д`)=з

Personally… the brown bear Miku is the cutest!!

*Growl!!*

The neck and twintails are articulated, allowing you to change the nuance of the pose to a certain degree! ♡

But another very important thing to note is a feature of the head parts! They are in fact compatible with Nendoroid Petite bodies as well!!! ヽ(*・ω・)人(・ω・*)ノ

For example… you can do things like this!

This photo makes use of the two Snow Miku Capsule Factory heads, but the bodies come from the Nendoroid Hatsune Miku Selection –  to be precise, the ‘Deep Sea Girl’ and ‘Mikrystal’ bodies!

The Marimo head matches up with the standard Miku body quite nicely too!

Quite a different look! Such a sweet appearance! ♡

You can also combine it with completely different characters like this!

The possibilities are endless!!! ╭( ・ㅂ・)و ̑̑ !

*The above photo uses a body released in 2011 as the secret figure in the Nendoroid Petite K-ON (The First)

By the way, these are capsule figures!!

Let’s take a look at how they are packaged, shall we? ♥

The capsules are also rather small!

This is the size compared with Petite Mikudayo-san! Let’s open one up…

The white capsule actually opens up very easily!

Inside there is a plastic bag with the figure inside, as well as a sheet showing the line-up!

The head and body come detached inside the capsule, so you can enjoy putting the pieces together! ♪

figma Sakamichi Onoda

Hello everyone, Kahotan here! (@gsc_kahotan)

I am a complete indoor person… I haven’t even rode on a bike in ages!

But anyway, today I’m going to be taking a look at a Max Factory figure that was shipped out yesterday…

figma Sakamichi Onoda!

Oooooh! Onoda-kun!!! (*´Д`)=з

From the popular manga, anime and game series ‘Yowamushi Pedal’ comes a figma of the high-cadence climber, Sakamichi Onoda!

The yellow jersey of Souhoku High is so bright and noticeable! Plus those round glasses are simply fantastic!

This is how the blister pack looks! (`・ω・´)ゞ

Alternate head parts to display him with his helmet are also included!!

But more importantly…
what is the strange plastic model like thing I can see behind him…?

Parts to put a bike together!!

Let’s see if someone as clumsy as myself can put it together! ♥︎

First compare the unattached parts to the handling instructions and make sure that everything is there!

Hmm… is this really going to build into a bicycle…? (; ・`д・´)

Let’s start off by cutting out each part from the runner! ♪

If you read through the instructions carefully, you should easily be able to cut at the right areas!

Just be sure to check where to cut for each new piece! (/ω\)

I prefer cutting out all the parts before getting to work, but you can also cut them out as they are needed! ♥︎

Here we have all the parts separated!

I just cut them out and left them as is, but you can also sand the cut edges to get them smooth if you want a cleaner attachment!

But hold on a second… there are no wheels here!

How will my bike work without wheels?!  (´□`。)

“The wheels, saddle and handle bars are over here!”

Oh right! There were some parts in the front as well! Thanks Onoda-kun!

*I actually honestly thought the parts were missing at first. I was just about to ask Max Factory about them when I realized…

Right then, let’s start putting the bike together!

The explanation is very clear, and even I was able to progress rather quickly!

“This goes here…. and this goes in here…”

Putting the parts together took around 10 minutes! (Including a quick break!)

“All done!!”

Finally Onoda-kun has a bike to ride on! ヽ(*・ω・)人(・ω・*)ノ

Even though the bike is a model kit, it still has nice detail all over! The handles and front wheel can also be turned left and right to create slightly different poses.

Just look at how happy Onoda-kun looks with his complete bike!

I still can’t believe that those parts managed to come together into such a convincing bike! I never thought the parts I cut out would transform into the bike so easily!

Hmm?

But what is this part that Onoda-kun is looking at so intently…?

A drink bottle holder!!

That can only mean that… a drink bottle must also be included!! (●´ω`●)

I can just hear Manami’s voice in my head…
“Need a drink? I’ve got some Aquari.”

Not only does Onoda-kun come with parts that allow him to hold the bottle, you can also insert it into the bottle holder on the bike! (。・ω・)ノ゙

Ready and hydrated, time to start riding!! ♡♡

The start looks like quite a climb!

“Hiime Hime Hime Hiime Hime! Hime na no da!!”

After getting to the top of the hill, it’s time for a break! ♪

I can’t wait to display him together with Yusuke!

Onoda stands about 135mm tall, which isn’t too different to other figma, but the tight feeling of the cycling jersey gives him a rather small looking appearance!

He fits quite comfortably into the top of a Gacha cup!

Be sure to display him in all sorts of fun situations when your’s arrives! (σ・ ∀・)σ

figma Sakamichi Onoda!

He is on sale now!

Hatsune Miku: Risa Ebata Ver.

Hello everyone, Kahotan here! (@gsc_kahotan)

Everyone in the GSC offices is catching a cold! I am wearing a mask almost all the time to try prevent it from spreading to me…! With all the preparations for WonFes, this is the worst time to get sick!

Anyway, today I’m going to be taking a look at a product that has been up for preorder since last year… Max Factory’s…

Hatsune Miku: Risa Ebata Ver.!

The world of Hatsune Miku, as illustrated by Risa Ebata.

A 1/7th scale figure of Hatsune Miku based on an illustration by the popular illustrator Risa Ebata! The unique translucent and delicate appearance of Risa Ebata’s illustration has been carefully preserved in figure form.

She is seated on a magnificent floating diamond that shines beneath her with a love innocent smile on her face, as her long winding twintails are swaying in the wind behind her. A truly intricate piece of sculpting that fans are sure to fall in love with. Enjoy a different side and all new charm of Hatsune Miku through this collaboration!

Oooooooooooooohhh!! (/ω\)

For those of you who aren’t aware, Risa Ebata is the character designer and animation director for Macross F! She drew this adorable Miku, which has now been transformed into a lovely figure by Shining Wizard @ Sawatika!

She is posed leaning forward as she sits on a lovely pink diamond that makes up the stand for the figure! Also note the angelic smile on her face… she simply HAS to be angel!!

Speaking of Macross F and Max Factory, they have previously released this amazing figure of Sheryl Nome(´∀`)

Both Miku and Sheryl are connected by their amazing singing voices! ♡

But let’s get back to Miku before we get too sidetracked!

The long winding twin tails have been sculpted in such lovely detail as they flow out behind her, matching with the long flowing look of her bustle skirt!

Even though she is in a sitting pose the angle means that even a view from the side is filled with highlights! ♪

The diamond is not the only part to make use of translucent parts either – the end parts of her hair as well as the inner fabric of her sleeves are also a little see-through!

(・∀・) “We decided if we were going to make her, we had to do as best as possible!”

We’re joined by the figure’s planner, Akane Eiseihei!

(・∀・) “The original illustration was used on the front cover of the 1st album of VocaloP: SmileR, but when we decided to transform her into a figure, Risa Ebata went and drew us a nice fresh illustration to work with! The feeling of translucence in the illustration really appealed to me, so I worked with the team to bring it out in the figure with these translucent parts!”

The overall feeling of this Miku seems more mature than most others! ♡

(・∀・) “Yep! That also comes out in the outfit. Normally Miku has a somewhat metallic outfit, but this Miku makes use of a matte finish for a more relaxed appearance. Combined with the very unique design of the oufit, it gives this Miku a very unique charm when compared to others!”

Looking from this angle you get a little glimpse of her back! The frilly black area at her shoulders also looks lovely – I think they make her look even sexier than if there were no sleeves at all!

A similar effect can also be seen on her hands!! <○><○>

The translucent gloves (there is probably a better word for these than gloves!) kind of cover the skin but you can still see it, creating an almost teasing charm to the design! I really love the way it looks!╭( ・ㅂ・)و  !

(・∀・) “I know how you feel because I feel exactly the same way! Another area where the semi-transparent look really shines are her stockings covered in musical notes!”

There couldn’t be a more suiting design for Miku’s stockings! (●´ω`●)

Her calves and thighs look so lovely and soft… plus the garterbelt features the same design normally seen on Miku’s wallet chain!

(・∀・) “Yep! There are actually quite a few interesting connections between this design and Miku’s official design! Another thing I’d like to point out are her adorable looking shoes! ♡”

I think most girls would agree they have a lovely design! (*´Д`)=з

(・∀・) “Miku-san herself is amazing, but this figure really comes together when you look at her together with the details of the accessories and outfit!”

There are quite a few little intricate details that you might miss if you don’t look close… like the pins on her neck tie here, or the heart shapes around the edge of her sleeves! (‘-‘*)(,_,*)(‘-‘*)(,_,*)

(・∀・) “As mentioned before the stockings and matte look give her a more adult charm than most Miku figures… but there are also still lots of musical notes, ribbons and other cute motifs that show the cuter side of Miku for fans to enjoy too!”

Her expression has a rather innocent and playful feeling to it as well! ♪

I love the fact you can just see her top teeth sticking out! ε=(。・д・。)

Ah! I have something I want to ask, Eiseihei!!

Miku-san is sitting on a diamond… but when you look up close it seems like it’s floating?!

(・∀・) “Yep, the diamond itself isn’t held down to the base, but don’t worry – we’ve done lots of tests and there are more than enough dress frills to support her! I wanted to keep as much detail to the figure without adding unnecessary supports! I got a lot of great advice from Shining Wizard @ Sawatika… the sculptor who also worked on Hatsune Miku TYPE2020!”

Shining Wizard@Sawatika is really amazing with hair and dress sculpting!! ♪

Even though the hair looks so light and fluffy, the edges are still so beautifully sharp!! What amazing work!! ヽ(*・ω・)人(・ω・*)ノ

(・∀・) “It’s definitely a Miku that has never been seen in Max Factory’s line-up before, and I hope fans will enjoy the rather unique charm she has to bring!”

A lovely mix of cute and sexy on the electronic diva!

Last Post for 2014 ★ Thank you so much for a great year!

Good day to you all.

Kaho-tan, here!  (@gsc_kahotan)  And even though I eat plenty of sweets as it is, I’m afraid of looking at the scale for the next few days.

But as they say, you grow a bit more with each passing year!  (Be that in width.)

Well then, today is the very last post of 2014!  (`・ω・´)

I’d like to thank you all for reading the Kaho-tan blog this year!

We’ll do something a bit different than last year, and finish off this year’s blog with the interview of 3 certain individuals.

We’ll take a look back at the top ranking blog entries and best selling products next year!

So, on to the first interviewee!

Here he is, supporting Good Smile’s very first domestic factory (Lucky Factory), and with a magnificently husky voice!

【Tori-Bird】(Lucky Factory, GSC Manufacturing Dept.)

1 Please share with us again your thoughts on being stationed at Lucky Factory!
Up until now, figure production was entrusted entirely to Chinese factories.  We want to thoroughly manage the manufacturing process, to continue making a consistent finished product – we do have a lot of assurance in our factories now, but we’ve also begun to realize that there are technological constraints.  In order to continue making figures in the future, we’ve got to be able to control every aspect of the manufacturing process.  In addition to understanding the costs and turnover time, we must also continue improving product quality.  The talk of Lucky Factory couldn’t have come at a better time, and I immediately asked to be transferred. In order to prove myself to the people at Good Smile who trusted me with the position, as well as to everyone who has high hopes for the domestic factory, I promise to put all I’ve got into creating products you can be proud of!

Tori-bird Senpai… You’re serious about this! (´□`。)

Tori-bird:

I’m always take things seriously! lol

But it’s also due to the fact that I have to talk in front of so many people recently!

Of course, taking something on like this means you have to do be diligent about a myriad of things.

Tori-Bird has such a smooth way with words that at the Factory Grand Opening live webcast, someone made the comment, “Is he some TV personality!?”

And though I wish I could have his eloquence, I hope I can learn something from him as a senpai.  (whispers)

Let’s move on to the next question.

2 Lucky Factory has finally opened!  What’s it like there now?Though we continue to train people for the production of our very first product, the speed at which the factory workers gain skill is a total surprise!Gradation painting in particular is incredibly difficult, so I thought it would be an uphill battle, but even people who had never touched an airbrush before in their life can now beautifully execute brushwork.  We only have about 40 people, which is still on the low side, but they continue to exchange ideas on how to improve product quality, so it’s a very passionate atmosphere.

That’s for sure!

I met all of the workers at the Factory Grand Opening, and they were all like, “We’re all in this together, to make this a factory from the ground up!”  A sense unity and mutual understanding seemed to come naturally to them. ε=(。・д・。)

Tori-Bird:

The factory manager, Mr. Kakuda, and Haryu and I may form the core, but all of the factory workers are out there putting in a lot of effort, too, so there’s this feeling that we’re all working hard together, which makes me quite happy.

Now for one final question. (。・ω・)ノ゙

3 It looks like you’ll have a challenging year ahead of you, but what hopes do you have for 2015? First off, I want to make sure that Nendoroid Sakura Miku: Bloomed in Japan ships out in March without a hitch.  This will be the very first product manufactured in Japan, so we’re finalizing the production schedule to make sure that everyone can have a product they’ll be satisfied with.

Next up they’ll be manufacturing the figma Horse (Chestnut), and figma Horse (White), but future items are already in consideration and underway.  I hope that Lucky Factory products arrive with a standard of quality enough to be recognized as a brand in their own right this year!

Based on the idea that “no matter where you are in the world, you always see the same moon,” every factory established by Good Smile up until this point has had the word “moon” in it.  (Even our domestic factory – the “Tsuki” in “Rakutsuki” Lucky Factory is this very moon.)

Even if we’re separated by great distances, “We want to distribute superior products around the world, and bring smiles to as many people as possible.”  This core principle has never changed. (`・ω・´)

We hope you’re looking forward to what’s in store at Lucky Factory, too!

And with Wonder Festival rapidly approaching, there seems to be something special in the works that involves Lucky Factory, too… !!

Keep you’re eyes open for it!  (●´ω`●)

Moving on to our next subject!

The second person we’d like to share a few words with is this person, (in conversation style rather than Q&A) ♪

Head of the company that boasts such notorious members as Nitohei Kaneko and IG Sakai, it’s the President of Max Factory!

【Max Watanabe】(President and CEO of Max Factory)

【1st Topic】What kind of year was this for you?

I suppose this was a year we were able to release a lot of figma.  As for statues, we had quite a few challenging ones, including Yamato Kai: Heavy Armament Ver. but despite all that hard work, there were still a few complaints about how things have gotten so expensive…  And handling that concern will be a priority for us next year.

Kaho: You also invested a lot of work into the development of Dougram and other plastic models this year.

As far as plastic models are concerned, yes.  As one who’s also known as a “Modeling Superstar,” you could say it’s my passion.  I think our projects now are ones where you can use the modifiers “at last” and “long awaited!”

Kaho: Would you say that the addition of Taishou Shimizu (@shimizu_mxf)  (from the plastic model field) to Max Factory was a significant contributing factor?

From kit development all the way to after care, substantially moving along product planning, he definitely has a lot of pride in his work.  And as a comprehensive hobby manufacturer, we want to slowly expand into other fields via our products.  We have a long and close relationship with the plastic model field, and based on that we wish for this to be one of mainstays moving forward.

Kaho:Would you say that you laid the foundation for that mainstay this year?

To be honest, I’d that still lies ahead of us.  Even among plastic models there are various categories, but for now we’re just focusing on lineups.  Some from this series, some from that – that’s how we’re moving forward.  But our very first series, the “Fang of the Sun Dougram” series was well received, which gave us momentum.  Nonetheless, I still think we have a long way to go.  We’re currently developing a product for release at Wonder Festival next year, so I’d say that we’re continuing to move forward one step at a time, building our lineup.

Kaho: Aside from the company, how was the year for you personally?

I think you could say that I built way too many models!  I really threw myself into it – and though this kind of bleeds into next year, I hope to cut down a bit in 2015.  We had the Dougram of course, but as I made a lot of appearances in hobby publications this year, and it seems that I’m known even more widely as “That old guy who likes plastic models”…  But even so, I plan to tone it down a bit next year!

【2nd Topic】figFIX debuted this year? What was the idea behind it… ?

The idea behind it…  there were so many elements that spurned the birth of the figFIX, to go into details would take forever… lol  But one of the reasons I mentioned earlier, which is the price of “static” figures.  With the continued cheapening of the Japanese Yen, production costs suddenly rose, and it’s impossible foresee how long it will continue.

Kaho: But if that’s the case, then there’s still the possibility for static figures to become less and less attainable.

We’ve got to eliminate that concern, and offer them at an affordable price, but we also want to have a statue series with remarkable quality and high collect-ability now more than ever!  And it’s the vibe we’ve been getting from fans, too.  This has been in production for a while, but it’s only now coming to light.

Kaho: There really are all kinds of people getting into figures nowadays, too.

We’ve always put a lot of thought into people who are so-called “light-users,” so to be honest, we’ve never solely made products for core fans.  This especially goes for fully-assembled and painted products, like scale figures and figma – we make things that people can enjoy and play with today that will still be there tomorrow, so I don’t think we’re losing focus on that core concept at all.

Kaho: Does that apply to plastic models as well?

That’s a good question.  We try to make them so that they assemble quickly and easily, but if that doesn’t appeal to some I hope they at least like the box art.  Of course, there’s also a well-established group of people who take plastic models to the extreme, and we want to have a product that they’ll enjoy, too!

Kaho: Would you say that figFIX is a mainly product for figma fans?

I would say just that – it’s a product for figma fans to take home and look at and collect dust.  I want them to say, “It’s so cute even if it isn’t poseable!”  I want them to have poses that a figma can’t do, to manifest the beauty of a statue but at an affordable price – and therein is the merit of the figFIX.  We know there were customers out there saying, “I’ve really been wanting this,” and I hope we’ve been able to strike a chord with them.

Kaho: I’m sure they’re looking forward to where you take this series next year!

This is ultimately a product for the customer; it’s up to them to decide, but we here at Max Factory are really committed to it and want to continue!

【3rd Topic】What do you think next year holds in store?

With the figFIX and plastic models, I think we’re able to show everyone products that were a bit out of the ordinary this year, but we want to continue in this direction moving forward, offering slightly different products as well as product categories.  I think in 2015 we’ll have people saying, “I had no idea you could do that!” with the products we have in store, so please stay tuned!
As for me personally, I think I want to do everything I can to cooperate with and support Lucky Factory in Tottori Prefecture.  This is one project that absolutely cannot fail, so I want to do my part and lend them all my energy.  More saying that it’s “Made in Japan,” showing the world that we can make these products at this this price, and with this level of quality is something that we as a manufacturer want to say with unwavering confidence.  Even domestically, manufacturing requires a high level of attention and is hard work.  Which is exactly why I want as much a hand in it as possible.Who knows – I may even be in Tottori myself next year! lol

I never really have the opportunity to speak much with Mr. Max, so I really enjoyed the conversation!

Thank you so much for your time.

We’ve all seen Max at Lucky Factory wielding an airbrush but…

You never know, maybe we’ll see him inside the factory next year after the production lines are really moving… !

・*:.。..。.:*・゚゚・*:.。..。.:*・゚ ゚・*:.。..。.:*・゚゚・*:.。..。.:*・゚ ゚・*:.。..。.:*・゚゚・*:.。..。.:*・゚

Now for our final interviewee!

You may not be able to recognize him with his new hair cut!

It’s none other than our eccentric President and CEO, who also appeared this Halloween as that “certain plumber!”

【Takanori Aki】(Good Smile Company President and CEO)

【1st Topic】What kind of year was this for you?

A pretty uneventful one!

Kaho : Really?!

The figure industry has been undergoing a gradual shift since sometime last year.  For example, people aren’t after this-and-that a figure, but now they want “something with extra features.”  We ourselves have united with animation teams, and thought up various experiments we can try together, and have taken a new look at the industry to figure out the best way to move forward.  Maybe you could say that we’re still in preparation, or that we’re going into preservation mode.  So there wasn’t really a lot of output this year – doesn’t that make it rather boring?

Kaho: But we had so many new projects this year… !

“Let’s establish a domestic factory!”  “Let’s try the Red Bull Air Race!”  I told you about these projects, right?  We really wanted to do something that was totally original and unique, but none of these things have reached fruition… Even the factory won’t release any products until next spring, and the Red Bull Air Race is next May.  That feels like a long way off.

Kaho: I guess you could say that most of these things won’t be realized until 2015.

Yes, exactly!  This is related to what I was talking about earlier, we’ve recently crossed the bounds of the figure world, and have increased our friends in the animation world via USP (Ultra Super Pictures).  We joined forces with various teams this year, so I guess you could say it was a year of beginnings.  And through the blessings of all these new friends, many of those projects are about to take off.

Kaho: I guess you could say you have more people at your side, watching your back?

I would.  And thanks to these associates, we’re able to conduct trial projects on a large scale.  Some projects that have been underway for many years are finally becoming a reality.  Talking to everybody and taking a look at what’s out there in the world, I think we’re about to head out and say, “Alright, this is it!”  And I think this year was one of those years where we laid the groundwork.

Kaho: I get the feeling that more and more projects are on the move!

What would you say the year was like for you personally?

I really went so many different places this year… I think I traveled farther and met more people than ever before.

Kaho: There were quite a few stretches where you were out of the office!

In Japan and all over the world.  But I think the people I met will play a big factor in what to come next year and the year after that.  And of course, I also visited the factory in Tottori!

【2nd Topic】Lucky Factory in Tottori Prefecture is officially open… !

We said we’d establish a domestic factory, and we did it!  It really was a profound moment for me.  And the impact the Tottori Regional Governor had on me was surprising, too – lol!

Kaho: I was there with him on the live webcast, but he was even more enthusiastic than the rumors!

Maybe you can say it’s something of the local color, but you really get the sense that people there are good people.  I participated in the factory staff interview process, and everyone was earnest and hardworking.  It’s just one more thing that lets me khow Tottori was the right choice.

Kaho: I think that Factory Manager Kakuda, as well as Tori-Bird and Haryu all adjusted to the move very quickly.

The surrounding environment and people there have all been very kind to them, but all of them are extremely positive minded!  Especially Kakuda – he’s been involved the establishment of many factories, so he’s reliable.  I think we have some great people on board.

Kaho: I think everyone at Oshiage wants to work together with those at Tottori do the absolute best we can!

Speaking of working together, we’re receiving the assistance of all kinds of manufacturers at Lucky Factory.  They even interviewed factory workers with us.  And are instructing them in various manufacturing techniques.

Kaho: Even in the interviews… !  You don’t say!

When we said Good Smile will make a domestic factory, some said, “Whoa!”  But I think others said, “Can you really do it?”  Of course we can do it.  We have allies we can depend on (manufacturers who have been with us for a long time).  Knowing that we’re not in this alone is reassuring, even if being in the figure industry is a challenge… Even if there are pressures, I think one of our greatest strengths is turning that into a drive to work harder.

Kaho: It’s like everyone has a hand in creating Lucky Factory… I look forward to what the future holds in store!

I do, too.  For one thing, at Lucky Factory we’re incorporating all of the know-how acquired from Chinese figure manufacturing, but what I’m really looking forward to is what happens after that.

Kaho: By which you mean… ?

Figuring it out as we go along.  There will probably be things that we realize for the first time ever manufacturing in Japan, and we may find that other aspects are more difficult.  Some of this may be influenced by the start of a new year, but while preparing for manufacture and making all the last adjustments, we’re moving forward into actual production.  Some of it may be a fumble at first, but because this is Lucky Factory I want it to be simply the best, most advanced place it can be.

【3rd Topic】What do you think 2015 has in store?

All sorts of things we’ve been preparing are about to make their way into the world, so I hope it goes well.  Most of these things are totally new, so there are unknown variables, but we still want to pitch at full strength.  We’ll be happy if they’re received well, but if it doesn’t work out we’ll try again.  So many people have gotten involved in these projects, and for their sake we’ll make no compromises.  And even though we’ll probably try all sorts of new things next year, we still have even more new projects to undertake.  I invite you all to sit back and enjoy the show!

Kaho: It all starts with Wonder Festival!  We’re going to have all sorts of new developments in store!

…So there you have it!

What did you all think!?

There sure was an awful lot of text this time around.

If I ever have the opportunity, I’d like to try this interview-style post again! (。・ω・)ノ゙

Let me say again one last time…

Thank you all so much for an excellent year!

Ren: Rhyme mode Ver. & Ren: “Together, Forever” Ver.

Hello everyone, Kahotan here! (@gsc_kahotan)

I have never been able to get along very well with animals. I do think I could get along with a canine ALL-MATE! In fact I’d love to get along with one!

With that said, today I’ll be taking a look at…

Ren: Rhyme mode Ver.!

“Stop overthinking it. You’ll short your brain out.”

From the PC game ‘DRAMAtical Murder’ comes a 1/7th scale figure of the main character’s partner, Ren! He has been sculpted in his human mode from the virtual game in the series ‘Rhyme’.

The cape that brings out the atmosphere of the Rhyme world has been carefully sculpted, but can also be removed for an alternate display showing off his shapely body for fans to enjoy. Grab the calm and collected Ren and display him by your side forever more!

Hyahoooooooo!!!! (*´Д`)

The dependable Ren sitting looking as charming as ever!

His lovely large cape flowing around his human form! The sculptor of the figure is none other than Nanako-san, the same sculptor behind the previously released Aoba figure! ♡

As I’m sure you can tell simply by laying eyes on him for a second, the amount of love that has gone into the sculpt-work is simply amazing!

Even the base is amazing with a giant beast-like hand, floating crystals and fluttering cape!

Everything surrounding Ren is beautifully made!

Plus just look at his amazing expression!

Depending on how you look at it, it can give off all sorts of different emotions… it’s mysterious, pondering… and perhaps even a little bit lonely!

You could just stare into his eyes forever… at least I know I could!!

This product is a part of the WONDERFUL HOBBY SELECTION! Let me give a quick explanation once again for those who aren’t sure what that is! (`・ω・´)ゞ

The WONDERFUL HOBBY SELECTION is a brand new series of products brought to you by Good Smile Company, focusing mainly on figures. These products will be absolute top-of-the-line products – with meticulous sculptwork, high quality artistic work and top-notch quality to live up to the needs of collector’s looking for the best of the best to add to their collection.

This is the third figure in the series, following on from Yatamo: Heavy Armament Ver. and The Colossal Titan TAKAYUKI TAKEYA Ver.!

But anyway, let’s get back onto today’s review!

This is how he compares in size with a Nendoroid!

Based on this, he is around 1/3rd the height of a Nendoroid!

The figure is 1/7th scale, making it fairly large! (*´Д`)=з

Taking a look from above gives this view…

You can really tell just how volume the cape gives the figure!

You can also see the detail in design of the cape, as well as the collar around his neck! ♪

If you take a look from the bottom…

You get a little peek at his arm and flank!

(´-`).。oO(Being teased like this is so effective…!)

HOWEVER!

You don’t have to remain being teased, as I’m sure you all know that Ren’s cape can be completely removed, showing off much more of his body for fans to enjoy! (・∀・)

Oooooooooooohhhhhhh!! (/ω\)

W-What do I do?! I’m too embarrassed to continue!

Those arms! Those abs! Everything else!

The bumps of his collarbone and ribcage are also beautiful!

Each and every contour of his body is a treat!

I just want to run my fingers along his skin!! The tattoos on his back are also faithfully kept in place! The pointy hair sculpting is also something we only ever see much of on male figures… it looks awesome! (‘-‘*)(,_,*)(‘-‘*)(,_,*)

The area around his neck is also very appealing! Removing the cape doesn’t only give you a goof look at Ren though, the giant hand is also much more visible… and looks really impressive!

Enjoy Ren’s charms to the fullest! ♥︎

Ren: Rhyme mode Ver

He is up for preorder now!!

Orders in Japan are exclusive to the GOOD SMILE ONLINE SHOP, but international customers can buy him from the GOOD SMILE ONLINE SHOP as well as our international partnershops.

Also, for those who can’t quite bring yourself to get the Rhyme Mode Ver., you also have this option!  (`・ω・´)

Ren: “Together Forever” Ver.

“I want… to touch Aoba more…”

From the PC game ‘DRAMAtical Murder’ comes a 1/7th scale figure of the main character’s partner, Ren! He has been sculpted in human mode with his cape removed and a gentle smile on his face. All of the tattoos on his back have also been faithfully included, allowing fans to enjoy him from any angle they please!

The included base is made in the image of a sandy beach, ideal for the Ren route in the game. Be sure to add Ren to your collection and keep him by your side… together, forever.

Such a gentle smile!

Unlike the Rhyme mode Ver. this one does not have a cape, but the sculpting is just as wonderful as far as the body goes! The base is also a completely different, sandy beach base!

The same beautiful tattoos, muscles and overall sexy body are all still there to enjoy to the fullest!

As the base isn’t quite as large, you actually get a better view of the area around his hips! ☆

Let’s take a closer look at that base! <○><○>

The base has sand and some gentle waves! It looks so beautiful!!

The way the water is sparking gives it such a clear appearance, it makes me wish I was by the ocean paddling in some waves! It also reminds me on the Ren route in the game so very clearly… (‘-‘*)(,_,*)(‘-‘*)(,_,*)

A beautiful smile and a sexy body to keep by your side forever!

Ren: “Together Forever” Ver.

He is also up for preorder now!

PLUS!

Orders of either of the two figures above will include a special first production run bonus of a clear bromide card!(148×100mm)

*Design is for illustrative purposes only. Final design my differ.

Nendoroid Seishiro Tsugumi

Hello everyone, Kahotan here! (@gsc_kahotan)

We’ve already reached the time of year when it’s cold enough for warm corn potage in the vending machines! The end of October is here and the Skytree has already started it’s Christmas decorations!

Anyway, today I’m going to be taking a look at a figure that went up for preorder last Tuesday…

Nendoroid Seishiro Tsugumi!

From the romantic comedy anime series ‘Nisekoi’ comes a Nendoroid of Seishiro Tsugumi! She comes with three expressions including her standard relaxed expression, a chibi shouting expression and a more ladylike embarrassed expression.

She also comes with her handgun and an alternate upper body part wearing just her white buttoned shirt as optional parts. Recreate your favorite scenes from the series in cute Nendoroid size!

Ooooooooooh!! (´□`。)

The hitman of the Bee Hive gang, Seishiro Tsugumi! ♡

The third heroine from Nisekoi together with Nendoroid Onodera Kosaki, who was announced at the same as her as well as Nendoroid Chitoge Kirisaki who is already on sale!

The cool and composed look makes her so adorable!! ♪

She is wearing the men’s school uniform as it is of course much easier to move around in for a hitman!

It’s been quite a while since the last female Nendoroid was wearing long pants! The large blue and white ribbon in her hair and her beloved pistol are also faithfully included!

You can even pose her ready to fire her gun like this! ヽ(*・ω・)人(・ω・*)ノ

However, considering Tsugumi’s tsundere personality, she is more likely to be firing on someone in order to hide her embarrassment at something… and to do that she needs an expression like this one!! ♡

/A-Are you making fun of me?!\

It’s so easy to imagine her voice shouting at Raku with this face!! (。・ω・)ノ゙
The way her mouth is trembling at the top makes it perfect! ♥︎

However…. once we’ve enjoyed the harsh side of a tsundere character, it’s always nice to have the gentle side too! How about a cute embarrassed expression for that!

Awwwww!!!! (/ω\)

You can enjoy a more ladylike Tsugumi as well! Definitely my preferred side!

She also comes with arm parts that can form a heart!

The slightly worried, unsure side of the expression captures Tsugumi beautifully… and she comes with an alternate body that suits this expression perfectly! (*´Д`)=з

A body featuring a white buttoned shirt! ヘ(゚∀゚*)ノ

You can even see her bra and bosom if you look close!

Definitely a very nice part to have for her!
Props to the figure’s planner, Yassan! ★

Even if she is a Nendoroid, she has arguably some of the best curves of the Nisekoi girls, and this ensures you can get a slightly better look at them!

I feel like letting her try on some other outfits will also be lots of fun!

Maybe I’ll show some examples a little later… Definitely a Nendoroid Tsugumi fans can enjoy no matter which side of her they like!

Just pick how you think she looks best! ♡

Nendoroid Seishiro Tsugumi!

She is up for preorder now!

Orders at the GSC Online Shop are open until the 26th November at 21:00JST!: http://goodsmile-global.ecq.sc/top/gscnenwd00465.html

Don’t forget about Onodera either! She is available until the same date!

Nendoroid Kosaki Onodera!

Previous Blog: Nendoroid Kosaki Onodera

By the way!

If you combine Kosaki-chan’s body with Tsugumi’s head…

You get Tsugumi in a girl’s uniform! ♡

They’re great to have alone, but even more fun in a set! ♪

Don’t miss out!!

Now for another quick notice! Earlier today on Max Factory’s blog, figma Sakura Kinomoto’s painted prototype was revealed for the first time!

As there is no English version of the blog I decided I had to include the photo here for everyone to enjoy!

figma Sakura Kinomoto!!

sakura

Even on the unpainted version a lot of people were mentioning the sculpting of the frills, the cute poses and how the hair and hat looked perfect… but now that it’s painted she looks even cuter than before!!

The wings on her back are made with a translucent material and the shoes have a nice little shine to them… everything comes together to make a really detailed and adorable Sakura-chan!!

But that’s not all!!

Max Factory has announced they are going to make ‘figma Sakura Kinomoto: School Uniform ver.’ too!!

I am told there will be more information regarding that early next week!

figma Mutsu

 \ ♡ ♡ ♡ /

Hello everyone, Kahotan here! (@gsc_kahotan)

I thought I was suffering from some Autumn allergies, but it turns out it’s just a cold… I hope everyone is taking care to avoid colds as Winter draws closer!

Anyway, today I’m going to be looking at a product announced earlier today by Max Factory!

figma Mutsu!♥︎

From the popular browser game ‘Kantai Collection -KanColle-‘ comes a figma of the second Nagato-class battleship, Mutsu!

· Using the smooth yet posable joints of figma, you can act out a variety of different scenes.
· A flexible plastic is used for important areas, allowing proportions to be kept without compromising posability.
· She comes with three expressions including her standard face, a smile with upturned eyes and a cute blow kiss expression!
· The ship parts at her hips are also articulated, and she comes with an alternate lower leg part to fix the anchor to her leg!
· An articulated figma stand is included.

Ooooooooohhhh!!! ♡

Up for preorder just two days after her debut on Kahotan Station!

She is the second battleship and the sixth character from Kancolle to join the figma series! Her soft thighs, short skirt intricate ship parts, antenna Alice-band, sexy stomach, short brown hair and even the anchor curled around her neck have all been faithfully kept in figma form!

Let’s have a look at how she looks from the back! ♪

The anchor on her right side is slung over her ship parts and wound around her left leg! As usual with KanColle figures, the contrast of the soft skin and the mechanical ship parts is fantastic! (`・ω・´)

Even from this angle you can see she has a fairly impressive bust as well… but that’s not all! If you go a little higher…

I can’t quite put it into words, but she is certainly detailed down to the finest nooks and crannies!

Along with her more serious standard expression, she also comes with the expression I started today’s blog with… the ‘blowing kiss’ winking face!

Ahhhhhhhh!! (/ω\)

My heart was just hit right in the… well… heart!
A very sexy and playful expression!
♥︎

The huge ship parts of the super-dreadnought are articulated at the hip joints as well as the cannons, allowing you to match them with almost any pose!

She also comes with 11 different hand parts meaning you can make various original poses for Mucchan too! There are so many possibilities! ♡

But this view just can’t be ignored…

The sculpting around her belly button, and the muscles on either side of it!

The ship parts truly do look like real parts of a ship… but that doesn’t mean the skin parts aren’t amazing. They look absolutely incredible! ♪

Plus along with the blow kiss expression, she also comes with this adorable smile!

Plus as you may have noticed!
The anchor can be removed from her leg! (。・ω・)ノ゙

The above leg part is a standard smooth leg part, but she also comes with a special alternate left lower leg part which includes a hole for the anchor to connect into, allowing you to recreate the official illustration completely!

You can choose to wrap the anchor around her arm or neck instead for some fun alternative poses!

Grab a palm-sized Mutsu all for yourself!

She is up for preorder now! ♥︎

Plus all preorders from the GSC Online shop will include some bonus “Smoke Effect Parts” as a bonus!

I’m sure it reminds many of the Admiral Winter Vacation! ♪

These parts connect with a hole in the center of them which is placed around the turret! The part will only be available from the GOOD SMILE ONLINE SHOP!

Orders are open until the 19th November 2014 at 21:00JST! http://goodsmile-global.ecq.sc/maxfigwd00242.html

Don’t miss out!
