1/7th Scale Tsumugi Kotobuki

Once again we return to Tsukki’s desk!

001
But Tsukki is coming back to Japan soon! I wonder whether or not his robot collection will manage to keep it safe until then!

002

But anyway… today we’ll be taking a look at this cutie!

Max Factory’s…

1/7th Scale Tsumugi Kotobuki!

She is one of the main characters in the popular anime series ‘K-ON!’ – the keyboardist in the Sakura High music club. The outfit she is wearing is one of the many outfits that Sawako-sensei made for Tsumigi to wear – this one a cute waitress uniform!

003

This is how she looks from the back!

Her frilly skirt really brings out her cute side!! It’s quite the flawless figure no matter what angle you look at it from – nice work Max Factory!!

004

A warm smile!

That expression really captures Mugi’s care-free fun personality so perfectly! The eyes have a slight gloss applied to them so if you look at her from a certain angle you get a cute little glint!

007

But there is a lot more to this figure than just her adorable face!

The desserts in her right hand!

The quality is unbelievable! They really look good enough to eat! Max Factory really puts their everything into each part of the figure – even the small little parts like these!

006

And the food in her left hand!

The word written in ketchup reads ‘K-ON!’ – plus that delicious looking meat and veggies… they really look just like the real thing only absolutely tiny!

By the way, there may be some of you who are pondering something like this…

It was a short cut from the first season!

But in this scene she was only holding a single parfait!

Max Factory actually decided while sculpting it to add in some unique touches to the design! Personally I think they’ve really shown their love for Mugi-chan, as the results are incredible!

008

That’s some incredible skill, Mugi-chan!

She is holding the omelet rice with just one finger there!  ((((゚Д゚)))ガクガクブル

009

Mugi-chan enjoying her job!

The skirt and knee socks are yet another point of the figure that are really incredibly detailed when you look up close! Plus it’s 1/7th scale, so it’s got some nice volume as well.

You can remove the desserts and omelet!

This is the size of them next to a Nendoroid Petite! A cute girl, desserts and some delicious food – what more could you ask for?

011

You can even let Nendoroid’s hold them!

Doesn’t it just look like she’s saying ‘please eat it?’? It’s so cute!

012

You can even remove the parfait separately!

Plus you can remove the contents and perhaps put something else in it’s place… the quality doesn’t limit the playability!

actsta Fate Testarossa

Plus Heavy Bramble is looking a little depressed today…!
I wonder what’s wrong?!

002

Anywho, today we’ll be playing with this figure!

actsta Fate Testarossa!

Following on from the first actsta which was Nanoha Takamachi from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The MOVIE 1st comes an actsta of Fate Testarossa!

She is due to come out this month!

The exact date isn’t set in stone yet, but it’ll be on the Good Smile website it’s been decided.

003

This is how the packaging looks!

Fate-chan in the middle surrounded by a number of interesting looking device parts, as well as a total of three expressions – loads to have fun with!

001

This is how the reverse side of the packaging looks!

Ooh! Even more device parts! Plus a magic circle for her stand and parts to create her ‘Round Shield’ spell. The little transparent piece on the bottom left is a transparent rod for positioning the ‘Round Shield.’ The transparent ‘L’ piece in the bottom right is put on the arm of the main stand.

005

This is how she looks from the back!

actsta is made to be a posable figure with the same quality of a scale figure – it looks like they are right on the mark! The cape even has some posable parts in it for more dynamic poses – the posable parts make use of a soft plastic so you can pose it in a load of different ways.

006

Then we move on to her device…

First up is ‘Scythe Form’!

A beautiful rendition making use of clear plastic for the blade! The edge of the blade is really sharp as well – fans will be impressed with this one!

007

Next up is ‘Axe Form’!
This is the standard form of Fate’s intelligent device ‘Bardiche’ – it’s also of course included!

Plus the ‘Round Shield’ made entirely from clear plastic!

You can place the shield all around the stand, as well as rotate it to any angle you like, allowing you to place it in exactly the position you want.

008

And finally, ‘Grave Form’!

This was the new form that only featured in the movie of Nanoha.
I made use of some Nendo Petite stands and placed the Round Shield on them to let her stand in it! It’s so nice to have a posable figure with so many options… and still have it look so incredible.
009

The cape can be removed!

If you remove the cape and use her ‘closed eyes’ face, it really gives off a relaxing feeling… you can pick the expression that suits your Fate best when doing with actsta posing!

Nendo Petite B.G.M Festival Set

The Heavy Bramble is taking care of Tsukki’s desk while he is gone, but it seems it can’t stop me from using it…. I’m having the Heavy Bramble protect today’s figure set!

003
The Nendoroid Petite B.G.M Festival Set Vol.0!

The B.G.M Festival Vol.0 is an music event that was held on the 16th April 2011, which featured music from a variety of different games – this set of five Nendoroid Petites are all from characters from the various games that the event was based on!

It’s a collaboration product between five game makers!

It’s not often you see something like that! A collection of all the heroines from five great games all in one set! We would never have got this if it wasn’t for the B.G.M (Bishoujo Game Music) Festival!

002

This is how the packaging looks!

Ooh! Seeing them all together like this really is beautiful! So many colors! The stands are each numbered as well, so if you take a look at the included instruction booklet you’ll know which stand is meant for which character.

004

Left:  From Circus: Otome Asakura from ‘D.C.II~Da Capo II~’
Right: From Alicesoft: Uesugi Kenshin from Sengoku Rance’

Look at the detailed paint work!

I honestly get the feeling that *too* much work was put into these figures! Particullarly parts like Otohime’s checkered clothes – that must have been such a mission to paint so finely… and how about the little triangles on her ribbon! They’re minute!

005

Left:  Uesugi Kenshin’s helmet can be removed!
Right:
From minori: Miyako Miyamura from ‘ef – a fairy tale of the two’!

When you see two lined up together like this one thing you notice is that…

The eyes are each painted differently!

Each game maker has their own specific style of drawing the characters eyes – and that is even visible on the Nendoroid Petites!

006

Left: From OVERDRIVE: Kirari Shiino from ‘Kira Kira’!
Right: From NAVEL: Asuka Watarai from ‘Oretachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai’!

Kirari’s guitar is removable!

You can give it to other characters if you like! Plus the guitar strap can even move – I wonder how much of a challenge all this was for the production team. ^^;

007

Exchange heads with other Nendos!

Saber and Kenshin are exchanging armor for the day! It creates a strange mix of western and eastern tastes!

009

You can also of course exchange expressions!

One of the next things about Nendo Petites is the way you can exchange all these things – giving other expressions to your favorite characters can be so much fun! It does fairly cause them to look a bit odd – but that’s half the fun!

008

Aren’t they cute!!?

You can even bring in some of the older Nendo Petite expressions to exchange with! (Some characters expressions are made differently and might not be exchangeable though.)

Whether you’ve noticed or not it’s already Friday! I hope everyone has had a good week!

It feels like just the other day that I said ‘Happy New Year’ and yet we’re so fast approaching the middle of the year already… I hope everyone is making good use of their time! Also completely unrelated, but I just started playing Final Fantasy 3 – it’s really fun! I wish I had played it while I was younger!

001

Shuu-chan, the new member of the GSC planning team, is practicing his pose imitation!

At Good Smile, all employees must start off with this training! (Just kidding :P)

002

Anyway, today we’ll be looking at:

Saber Alter ~Vortigern~!

A lovely 1/7th scale figure of the knight tainted by a black shadow, ‘Saber Alter’! She is posed at the point of slashing down with her sword in a wonderfully dynamic pose!

Let me start off with this…

This is an incredible figure…!!

003

This is how she looks from the back!

Her huge skirt fluttering up in the moment is just beautiful… everything about this figure has really grabbed me! It’s stunning!

004

Her armor has a nice metallic paint coat!

That shiny look is wonderful! The red lines are all done by using stamp printing – I think each piece would be done separately and then put together… but there are over 10 parts just in this photo… it must take ages! (By the way, if you’re not sure what stamp printing is, check out Part 4 of my Factory Field Trip!)

005

A face ready to take on anybody!

It has just the same feeling to it as the original illustration by Takeuchi-sensei!
006

The base features little stalagmites around her feet!

The Good Smile Team Production team really is good at what they do… even the base has some beautiful touches to it! The base uses the area in front of the holy grail where Shitou and Kotomine fight their final battle as a motif for it’s design!

Now for a message from the GSC Support team, if you pick up the figure do take note of this!

When placing Saber onto the base, it’s a good idea to warm up the soles of her feet with something like a hair dryer so that she can attach to the stand more easily (just be careful not to burn yourself or melt the figure!). Also try to place both feet simultaneously rather than one at a time. Hold the figure at the knees while pushing it down onto the base – if you hold it by the ankles you might find the armor is sharper than it looks!

007

You can also replace her fringe…

To display her wearing her mask!

Saber Alter is well-known for her unique mask – it wouldn’t be the same without it! Fans of the series are in for a delightful figure… particularly seen we’re not done yet – she also comes with…

008

Vortigern!

It was quite tough to get it all into one picture nicely. 😛

009

But Vortigern isn’t just big…

It has gradient coloring on clear plastic!

It starts getting clearer and clearer from the center to the tip! Isn’t it pretty!?
010

She can hold other things too!

As long as the handle is long, then she should be able to wield it! Some other staff members said I should find a broom for her. ^^;

One day, I was walking up the stairs when…

001

A Giant Good Smile Seijin Plushie appeared!
A total of 5 samples were made of this huggable giant!

As I mentioned yesterday, this is another product that will be sold as part of the Cheerful JAPAN! Charity project!

The damage that has occurred during the March 11 quake in the Touhoku region is astounding, and in order to get over the destruction caused there is a lot that needs to be done, and lots of support that needs to be given. Good Smile Company has formed a support group named ‘Cheerful Japan’ which will strive to support the relief efforts for as long as possible. For at least 1 year we be releasing charity products among other efforts to raise donation money for the cause. To everyone who supports the Cheerful Japan movement – thank you, and know that your money is going where it is needed!
To support the relief efforts up North, we will be announcing a charity product every month on the 11th, starting with this month and continuing for a year!

The second product to be joining the Cheerful JAPAN! Project is this giant plushie!

006

You can see just how big it is here!

It really is HUGE!

But I’m sure and dakimakura lovers like myself will not be stopped by a size like this – it’s actually the ideal size for hugging asleep at night!

004

It’s also made of a super fluffy material!
It’s so soft and gentle to the touch!

The fabric is much finer than most fabrics and the quality of the fluffy hair is amazing! You just have to feel it for yourself!

003

He can even be used to attack others!

His tentacles can be waved around all over the place!
When attacking, be sure to aim away from the head and hit softly! ^^;

005

Have a nap with him!
Diving your head into the soft fluffy GSC-Seijin will drop you into sleep in a second, plus is bound to give you good dreams for the night! You can even use him as a pillow!

008

He is not very good at doing work for you!

However, he is very good at making your coworkers look very surprised as they walk past your desk! It’s amazing how much this plushie can accomplish!

009

You can even take him for walks!

Unfortunately he does have a weakness… he can’t stand on his own, so he needs something to lean his back on.
010

Cheerful JAPAN! Part 1 No.2 –

What is that piled on top of the figma Riders…?

001

Nendoroid Gumako!

The figure has actually been displayed at a couple of events already, but now it is finally being released as the first figure in a series of products – those of you who were at the 10th birthday will already know, but that series is…

011

Cheerful JAPAN !

The first ‘Cheerful JAPAN!’ product, is…

002

Nendoroid Gumako: Support Ver. !

Gumako’s Secrets

・ She was once a show girl for ‘GSC Udon’ at a udon shop in Matsudo.
・ She had a side job working as an announcement giver for GSC.
・ The things on her head are ‘udon’.
・ She gives depressed people some of the udon to cheer them up.

She sometimes eats them herself too.

-More Info-

Gumako once ran out of energy and collapsed only to be saved by the owner of an udon shop. She then realized the power that udon has at cheering people up and giving them energy, and named that ‘Udon Power’.

012

The GSC Site on April 1st 2008!

Gumako was born as an April Fool’s joke!

Even through she was only there for one day, she was very well received and has now become GSC’s mascot character!  A lot of people have been asking for a figure of her, and it has finally come!

Plus it’s the first in the ‘Cheerful JAPAN !’ series! Gumako!

003

This is how she looks from the back!

Her wears a pure white outfit, boots and gloves. It’s a very simple design, but it still looks great! The little orange stripes are also a nice cute touch – the Good Smile color!

The Udon on her head are also posable!

004

As with all Nendoroids she also comes with optional parts!

First, a bent arm and bent leg!

You can make cute poses like this one by using these parts! Plus just look at those puffy sleeves… they’re adorable!

009

She comes with an udon face!

This is the first time we’ve seen this expression!

Definitely an expression with a unique feeling about it!! Just by looking at it I feel a little relaxed and happier! I think this might be love!
005

The reason it’s called an Udon face is because she has it when eating udon… which means she also comes with…

Udon, chopsticks and arms to hold them!

It shows you just how happy she is when eating udon!

This is what she calls, ‘Udon Power’!!

006

Gumako enjoying her udon!

You can’t really see that well in the photo, but the quality is really astounding! I’m certain the sculptor must also make the food models you always see outside shops!

007

That’s all the bonus parts for Gumako, but as an extra bonus…
She also comes with a mini-GSC Seijin Mascot!

You see this mascot all over GSC things, so he has been included in Nendoroid Petite size! His two arms (tentacles?) are also fitted with joints for some posing!

008

Gumako is flying!

This is the BRS Chan x CO face! It’s still undergoing a few changes, so it might change, but at the moment she is very compatible with other expressions!

002

Time to take a look at the first master figure of the month!

A shot of all the little things that take up my desk space! ^^
There are so many things on Oda-P’s desk that I really can’t display on the blog… it’s dangerous there! 😛

002

Anyways, today we’ll be taking a look at this figure!

From “Moshi Koukou Yakyuu no Joshi Manager ga Drucker no “Management” o Yondara”

Nendoroid Minami Kawashima!

There is also an anime of “Mushidora” that aired on NHK!
The original novel was apparently the 2010 No.1 bestseller with 2500000 copies sold! Plus there is also a movie planned for the future – it’s definitely a title to keep your eyes on!

Apparently the design for her character was based off AKB48’s Minami Minegishi!

003

Anyway, let’s get onto the Nendoroid!

Her first expression is a smiling face!
Her bag with a bent left arm are also included as optional parts!

This allows you to recreate the illustration used on the front cover of the book. There are also different shoulder parts included to pose the arms in more directions!

005

This is how she looks from the back!

Her ponytail with little parts sticking up have all been shrunk down into adorable Nendoroid form! The ponytail is also fitted with a joint allowing you to move it around for even more subtle poses!

006

Next up, a determined face!

She has more details drawn into her eyes compared to other Nendoroids, which really makes her eyes stand out. That pouty face is also so cute!

008

It wouldn’t be Mushidora without the book…

“Management”, plus arms to hold it!

009

The front cover even has all the details!

      / ̄ ̄ ̄\
     / ─ ─ \ ”What detail!
/ <○> <○> \ You can even read the text!!”
    | (__人__) し |
    \ ` ⌒´ /
    / し \

The book, for those who don’t know, is a business related book written by a guy named Drucker. It explains things like ‘what is an organization’, and ‘what is management’. Those kind of things. Manami takes over the management of the baseball club so she starts learning from it!

007

The famous ‘crying face’!

This face is really something! Definitely one that will pull on the hearts of fans of the series!

010

The baseball club needs a metal bat!

Yet another part the series just has to have! An extra right arm and shoulder are also included to recreate this scene of her hitting a ball!

011

Aww, she’s crying!

What a wonderful picture! I think more than anything else it caters to my personal tastes, but it’s still a great picture! 😛

Give a Name to huke’s GSC 10th Anniversary Character!

Golden Week is coming to and end!

I’m sure a lot of you are still on holiday today? I wish I were you! 😛
Enjoy whatever break you have left everyone! I hope the weather is nice for you!

Onto today’s topic!

007

At GSC’s 10th Anniversary Party there was an illustration drawn by huke for us!  ヾ(・∀・)ノ゛

She is so cute! It was made into a display panel and displayed right near the entrance for everyone to enjoy!

002

Black Gumako [Name Pending]
Black Gumako [Name Pending] is controlled by the GSC Mascot, her hat (Metal GSC Mascot #1) and her weapon (Metal GSC Mascot #2). From an outsiders view it’s as if she has four personalities. Her hair is not udon, but in fact squid-ink pasta, and if you touch it the black will come out on your fingers.

She also smells a bit of squid if you get too close. She herself can’t stand things that smell bad, but while she is being controlled she is fine with it.

A comment from huke:
Happy 10th Anniversary!
As an artist I’d be happier to make you an illustration over a cake to celebrate!
It’s been about 3 years since I started working with you guys now… I had to do something for your 10th!

003

So cute!! But cool at the same time!!!

The wavy shirt has a nice sexy appeal to it,  and the GSC Mascot sticking out the back of her pants is incredible! I want one! 😛
You can even see a little BRS Nendoroid by her feet!

It seems kind of depressing to have that at the end of her name…

So we need to give her a name!

What an honor! Giving a name to one of huke’s illustrations!

Dennys, the family restaurant is starting a tie-up fair with the anime ‘Bakuman’!

The fair’s name is ‘BAKUHAM. Everyone’s Burger!

Anyone who orders from the hamburger menu will receive a clear file featuring illustrations from Bakuman as well as be entered into a raffle with a chance to win even more special goods – and this well be at any Dennys store in Japan!

There will be a total of four files to collect, each featuring a different one of the popular characters from the series – be sure to check the Dennys website for more info on what hamburgers are included for the deal!

http://www.dennys.jp/dny/event-campaign/campaign_3.html

Lookie!! Σ(゚∀゚*)

006

Inside the raffles there is a chance to win Nendoroid Moritaka Mashiro and Akito Takagi !

Wonderful!! The Nendoroid’s are a part of the collaboration!

You will be entered each time you spend over 500JPY!

With just one coin you can stand a chance! Well, there isn’t anything for just 500JPY that will get you the file as well, so the best idea is to grab one of the things off the hamburger menu, get the free clear file and be entered into the competition all at once! (By the way – the clear files are until stock lasts, so don’t wait too long!)

The raffle presents will be available in two parts:

Part 1 will be from 2011/04/26 until 05/23
Part 2 will be from 2011/05/24 until 06/13

The Nendoroids will be available only in the first part, so if you want them be sure to go in that time. The 2nd part might also have something for us to announce… but it’s not yet decided! You’ll be able to find out on the Denny’s Official Website, or possibly at a later stage on the blog!

Anyway, that’s all for today!
I hope to see you all again next week! (・∀・)ノ゛
It think it’s about time I played with some figures again!!

The company has passed its 10th year!

This is all thanks to everyone who has supported us through the years! Thank you so much to everyone!

Today I’ll take a look at how the event looked yesterday – I know a lot of you might have already seen a lot of it from the live NicoNico showings, but there should be some extra ‘behind the scenes’ bits for you as well!  (`・ω・´)ゞ

001

30th April – Preparation Day!

We were using the 2nd floor of the Akihabara Bellesalle building! The Good Smile Mark shining on the wall was so cute!!

003

Let’s head inside the exhibition area!

Ooh, looks like everyone is hard at work setting things up! I’ll try not to get in the way with my pictures…

002

This is how the stage looked!

It was on the right from the entrance. The rehearsal was due to start at any minute.

005

This is the figure display area!

This was on the left from the entrance, and featured all the Good Smile Company figures released in the past 10 years! As most of you know we were missing some of the figures, but luckily we managed to get hold of all of them after I asked on my blog – thanks to everyone who was willing to lend a figure to help out!

006

The staff gets together to unbox figures!

This was all done the day before the event of course, but it was still quite a mission to get all the figures displayed! 10 years of figures is a lot! 😛

004

       / ̄ ̄ ̄\

008

So many figures that bring back memories!!

Each of the girls has a little memory behind them, and as soon as I see the figure I think of that time…

007

Backstage!

TWO TOP and Miura New Room – the two companies we normally get help for WonFes and other events were here to help us out with stage preperations. A big thanks for them for smiling and keeping everyone going through the day – it’s great to work with such a wonderful team!

Thank you for a perfect day!

025

Then… May 1st! The day has come!

Everyone came in cosplay… I mean… formal attire for the event!

009

Reception was handled by these wonderful ladies!

The reception and dressing was all handled by Good Smile and dicokick – not the event staff!

014

We relieved 76 bunches of lovely flowers!

Thank you to all who sent us these wonderful flowers! They really brightened up the corridor down to the entrance, plus they smelt magnificent!

If you look to the ceiling you’ll also see a balloon with the Good Smile logo!

015

The figures of the past!

When you see them all lined up like this it really is incredible…
From a few days before the event I was asking staff members which figures were most memorable to them… a lot answered the ‘Shuraki’ series!

020

Boards telling Good Smile’s history!

Aki-san was skilled at measuring out fishing bait! ^^;

011

Good Smile Macarons!

We also provided some as a gift to everyone who joined us at the event!

012

Macaron Tower

It’s so tall! So very tall!! There were also GSC Mascots all over the place, it was so cute!

026

There were also some new products on display!
First up… Nendoroid Ikaros!

She’s so sexy for a Nendoroid! Wonderful!
She also comes with three expressions – the one you see here and two others… I can’t wait to play with her!!

018

Plus… Nendoroid Gumako!!

This will be the first in a series of charity products under the name ‘Cheerful Japan’!
The Good Smile Mascot in the front is also included! More details will be available later this month!

019

It’s almost time to start!

Everything is ready for the guests!

021

A giant GSC Mascot to greet everyone!

The ‘GOODSMILE COMPANY’ written here is made from cake! Adorable!

013

Gifts!

Everyone who came along to the event got a bag of goodies – which included the macarons I showed earlier, as well as a set of Good Smile branded goodies including a towel, headphones and a penlight!

022

Good Smile’s Representative – Takanori Aki!

The staff were shouting ‘Mafia! Mafia!” here. ^^;

023

All finished!

One last photo of all the staff! (・∀・)ノ

Everyone who came along, and everyone who watched the live broadcast on NicoNico – thank you for joining us for Good Smile’s 10th Birthday! I hope you all enjoyed yourselves!

GSC has reached the 10 year mark, but it’s far from over. We’ve got this far thanks to all of you, and I’m certain that we’re going to go much further with all of you by our side! I hope you’ll stay with us for many more years to come!1

I also got the chance to meet the English translator for the Good Smile Site and the blog at the event!

The Good Smile Web team all love having him work with us, and although we didn’t get to chat for long, I’m glad I saw you!
Here are a few words from the translator himself regarding the event…

First and foremost – congratulations Good Smile Company on 10 years!

I’ve been a figure fan for many years, and looking at all the Good Smile figures lined up just shows that you guys really are the very best – they really are the cutest, most detailed and enjoyable figures out there – and I can’t wait to see what is coming up for us fans next.

The event itself was also a load of fun – I finally got to meet some of the Good Smile staff, the food was absolutely delicious and the stage events were great! (Although I felt quite bad that I was almost the only one there not wearing a suit…)

Thank you for inviting me, and I hope to be able to work alongside Good Smile Company for many more years to come!
これからもどうぞよろしくお願いいたします!

Thank you very much! I hope you’ll come and visit the Good Smile offices before you go home!

Anyway, that’s all for today!
The blog will be going on a little Golden Week break until Friday – so I’ll see you again then!
