1/10th Scale Ultimate Madoka

I’ve been wondering about this for awhile now… (=゚ω゚=)

Where did this Ulti-Madoka come from?!

She’s listed on both the Hobby Japan website and the Good Smile Website… and according to both she’s going to be included as an extra to a magazine!! I know that magazines often come with Nendoroid Petites or even Nendoroids… but I ever expected one would include a scale figure!! What a wonderful era we live in!!

What’s more… the painted prototype has just been completed, so I get to take a look at it before anyone else!!

Included with the Figure JAPAN magazine:
1/10th Scale Ultimate Madoka!

Figure Japan is a figure collector’s magazine with each issue focusing on a specific anime series and including a figure from that series. Each issue will have a complete figure catalog and a listing of new and upcoming products from the series it is based on, focusing on the figure included with that issue. It’s filled with lovely photos and all sorts of figure-related information, creating the perfect fan book for figure fans!

The first issue will be focusing on the popular series with a new movie coming this Fall, ‘Puella Magi Madoka Magica’! The included figure this time around is a GSC 1/10th scale Ultimate Madoka!

To explain it simply in points…
(゚∀゚) Figure JAPAN is a special figure magazine that focuses on a single series each issue and includes a figure from it too!
(゚∀゚) The December issue will be focusing on Puella Magi Madoka Magica!
(゚∀゚) The included figure is a 1/10 Scale Ultimate Madoka!

I’m sure it’ll be a great purchase for fans of figures and fans of Madoka!!
Let’s take a closer look at the figure!! (゚∀゚)

For those wondering how big she is…

Here she is compared with the 1/8th scale Ultimate Madoka! She’s definitely noticeably smaller!! (((゚Д゚)))

But Ultimate Madoka was really big in the first place, so even when made as a 1/10th scale figure, she is still quite impressive in size!

This is how she looks from the back!

She might be smaller than before, but she is still just as impressive as ever! The pearl paintwork on her dress and clear wings are just as beautiful as they were on the 1/8th scale version!

The sculpting of the hair and wings have actually been completely redone as well, in order to better fit the 1/10th scale size! Σ(゚Д゚;)

The smile of a goddess!! (*゚∀゚)=3

The 1/8th scale version was posed with her bow and arrow and a more serious expression, while this version has a much more gentle smile on her face! She’s simply beautiful! ゜・(ノД`)・゜・。

Just look at this angelic appearance!!

She may be smaller, but she still has the same incredible aura that the original figure had! (`・ω・´)

This would be a lovely figure to display close to your side and have watching over you as you get through each day! She’s 1/10th scale so finding space shouldn’t be too hard, and the gentle pose is sure to relax you on even the most hectic of days!

The space paintwork also looks great!

I still think this is one of my best features of Ultimate Madoka! I wasn’t so sure it’d look as amazing on the 1/10th scale version, but as you can see it looks just as stunning as ever! Σ(゚∀゚ )

Her dainty, pointed feet are also very cute!

Displayed with the Nendoroid version!

This photo might give you an even better idea of the size than the first one did. The 1/8th scale version was incredible and all, but I have to say I’ve really fallen in love with this 1/10th scale version now! It’s the perfect size to display next to me on my desk!! (`・ω・´)

I’m so often displaying figures up on the shelves around my desk, but I don’t often get scale figures that fit on the desk so nicely! It makes me think that more figures should come out at 1/10th scale!

All three displayed together!

I actually wanted to have the figma and Nendo Puchi together with them for this shot, but I couldn’t get hold of them in time!! I’m sure having all five together must look fantastic!! (*゚∀゚)=3

If you were someone who didn’t pick up Ulti-Madoka because you didn’t have the space to display her… then this is your chance to get a smaller version!! ヽ(゚∀゚)ノ

1/8th Scale Tsukihi Araragi: Part 2

Up for preorder from today!!

From Nisemonogatari:
1/8th Scale Tsukihi Araragi!

From the popular light novel series with an equally popular anime adaption, ‘Nisemonogatari’, comes a 1/8th scale PVC figure of Tsukihi Araragi!

The figure is based on the pose seen on the cover illustration of the 4th volume of the Blu-ray & DVD: ‘Tsukihi Phoenix: Part 1′, which features a delicate, innocent looking Tsukihi in beautiful Japanese clothes. The figure also includes the jungle gym seen in the original illustration, which acts as Tsukihi’s figure stand.

Plus the anime version of Tsukihi-chan!

The version in the pink kimono comes from the cover illustration of the 4th volume of the Blu-ray ‘Tsukihi Phoenix: Part 1′, while the version in the green kimono is directly from the anime! I really don’t know which one to pick!!

Pink: Standard Sales
Green: Good Smile Online Shop Preorders Only

This is how she looks from the top!

Yesterday’s blog may have been a bit revealing of my true character, but today I’ll (probably) focus on doing a proper review, instead of just talking about how sexy she looks! 😛

As with all the previous ‘Monogatari Series’ figures, Tsukihi comes with a lovely stand that is bigger than the figure itself – a lovely red jungle gym! Most of the figures from this series have been based on the DVD and Blu-Ray jacket cover illustrations, and each one has really brought out the atmosphere of the series in such a lovely way! I could look at these figures for ages and never get bored!

This is how she looks from the side!

The positioning of her hips, bending of the legs, posing on the jungle gym, creases in her kimono and even the beautiful ribbon fluttering behind her are just some of the amazing features of this figure!

It’s not like she is in an amazingly flashy pose or wearing the most beautiful outfit ever, but the amount of joy you can get from spinning this figure around and finding more and more amazing parts is what makes her such an exceptional figure to me!

This is what it means to be both sexy and cute!!

If I was given a look like this over the shoulder, I don’t think I’d be able to keep myself thinking straight! For that sake I don’t think there would be any reason to try and continue thinking straight – all you need to do is enjoy it!!

But from a different angle…
She has such an innocent looking expression!!

This photo makes her look a lot more like the middle-school student she’s supposed to be! It’s incredible how much the angle you look from can change the overall feeling of the figure!

Yet another amazing element in the world of figures!! (゚Д゚;)

A low angle really does suit this figure!

It’s definitely a tough choice though… she did look amazingly cute from the higher angles as well! I don’t even own the figure yet and I already can’t decide how I’m going to display her!!

As far as the size goes… well, it’s certainly not a small figure, but there are no areas sticking out further than others, so it shouldn’t be too hard to find a nice place to put her out on display with other figures!

Let me get some close-up shots!

The curves on her body really are fantastic… I already mentioned the panty line in the previous blog, but you can see it here quite nicely once again! ^^

The green version also has different colored sandal straps! It’s a completely coordinated green outfit! (`・ω・´)b

The masks each have different shapes and paintwork!

The paintwork goes without saying, but the fact that each of the masks was sculpted in a slightly different shape is rather impressive, but it also means much more work! As I’m sure many figure fans will know, if they were all the same shape they could have simply all been made from the same mold… but now a separate one will be needed for each!

But this was based on the cover illustration, and in order to get it as faithful to the original as possible, each of the shapes had to be different! (`・ω・´)

This figure caters to a so many different people…!

I know I’ve already mentioned it a million times, but in my case those hips are absolutely incredible! I could talk about them all day and late into the night! However Otakana who was in charge of this figure says that his best part is definitely the area behind the knees! A couple of staff also said the feet in the slipping sandals were their best part!

It seems the best part of Tsukihi’s figure differs from person to person… but I think that just goes to show how high quality of a figure she really is!

1/8th Scale Tsukihi Araragi

Let me start off by saying…

This figure is simply amazing!!

This is the unpainted prototype from WonHobby 17…

It’s now been hand-painted by GSC’s production team…

004
…and she looks fantastic!! ヽ(゚∀゚)ノ

Let me repeat once more…
This figure is simply amazing!!

Obviously GSC always works to the best of their ability to bring everyone the very best quality products… but this figure… this figure is on a completely new level!! She looks exactly like the original illustration, every part of her is sculpted in such a beautiful way and the paintwork is exquisite!

The moment I saw her she left such a strong impression on me!! I hope I can somehow convey that feeling to everyone reading the blog with my photos!! I’ll be doing a 2-day review of her to make sure I cover as much of Tsukihi-chan as possible!

From Nisemonogatari:
1/8th Scale Tsukihi Araragi!

From the popular light novel series with an equally popular anime adaption, ‘Nisemonogatari’, comes a 1/8th scale PVC figure of Tsukihi Araragi!

The figure is based on the pose seen on the cover illustration of the 4th volume of the Blu-ray & DVD: ‘Tsukihi Phoenix: Part 1’, which features a delicate, innocent looking Tsukihi in beautiful Japanese clothes. The figure also includes the jungle gym seen in the original illustration, which acts as Tsukihi’s figure stand.

She’s unbelievably cute!!

If this isn’t cute then I don’t know what is!! If anyone dares to say that this isn’t cute, I’ll happily stay up all night and fight for her! (`・ω・´)

I honestly think I’d be happy to get this figure just for her expression…

Just look at her lovely hips!

Plus if you have a close look you might even see a little more!

You can’t directly see her panties or skin as everything is completely covered up, and yet she’s still so sexy!! This is the art of sculpting in action!! She’s not directly letting anyone see anything, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be seen!! I’m fairly certain that recreating this feeling so naturally on a figure was no simple task!

My reviews normally show one or two photos of the entire figure and then focus on smaller areas, but this time the whole figure looks so great that I had to keep taking more and more shots from different angles! ( ̄ー ̄)

She looks great from a low angle too!

She is posed climbing a jungle gym, so this is actually a very appropriate angle! You might not ever get the chance to see a scene like this elsewhere, but Tsukihi-chan will be happy to show you it to you whenever you like!! (There is no way the 3D world will beat the 2D at this rate!!)

I have to say that I really love this photo – you get a good view of the curves of her body, a nice peek at her thigh due to the bent leg, and the jungle gym creates an interesting effect that kind of hides parts of Tsukihi-chan out of sight! Even though you can’t see her expression, she still looks incredible!!

Displayed together with the illustration!

This is the Blu-ray cover illustration for ‘Tsukihi Phoenix: Part 1’! You can see here what a beautiful rendition the figure version really is! I know I’ve focused a bit too much on her sexy side, but whether you like her sexier side or the cuter side – this Tsukihi-chan is sure to impress any fans!

I still can’t believe that this single illustration was transformed into this adorable, sexy, faultless figure!! It’s incredible!! 。・゚・(ノД`)・゚・。

But I’m sure that many of you may be wondering why she is in a red kimono, when in the anime she was wearing a green kimono! Worry not! (`・ω・´)

An anime-version kimono will also be available!

Oooh!! The green kimono!! (*゚∀゚)=3

Those of you who only watched the anime may find this outfit more familiar! The green version will be a GSC Online Shop exclusive!

Pink: Standard Sales
Green: Good Smile Online Shop Only

It’ll be so hard to pick which one I prefer, but Tsukihi-chan fans can of course grab both of them if they want!!

A very elegant green kimono!

I still can’t get over the fact that even though absolutely everything is covered up, she somehow still manages to look so delicious!! I guess it’s just the overall combination of her body’s curves and the lovely pose! Although I also get the feeling that the position of the creases in her kimono have something to do with it too!

I’m quite sure that in real life the hip-line wouldn’t be so nicely visible when wearing a kimono, but on the figure it looks great and doesn’t feel out of place at all – in fact it looks perfectly natural to me! I suppose that’s one of the many differences between the 2D and the 3D world!

1/7th Scale Tharja

A visit to Max Factory’s studios! (・ω・)ノ

001

It’s been about a year since we moved offices to the Skytree, but in all that time I’ve never had much of a chance to enter Max Factory’s work studios! (I’m pretty sure that all I’d manage to accomplish by coming in here is being a nuisance… ^^;)

But today is my first time!! (((゚Д゚)))

Mamamasu-kun’s office has been changed into a little studio, so I asked if I could come in and take a look! I used to sit very close to him before he moved into this studio… it’s become a little more lonely since he moved away… but now I think it’ll be easier to come in and steal prototypes for the blog! ヽ(゜∀゜)ノ
002
From Fire Emblem: Awakening:
1/7th Scale Tharja

From the Nintendo 3DS game, ‘Fire Emblem: Awakening’ comes a figure of the the Dark Mage who hails from Plegia, Tharja! She is posed with a sexy gaze across her face and her proportions which are considered the ‘best in the army’ have been faithfully kept in figure form. She also wears a beautiful regal cape which has been carefully sculpted to help bring out her character even more.

The stand also features intricate detail, with a large pile of magic books for her to lean on, and an ominous skull placed at the bottom to truly bring out the atmosphere of the Fire Emblem world!

“Hee, hee, hee!”

Those of you who have played the game are likely hearing Tharja’s memorable laugh play through their head right now! Σ(゚∀゚ )

She is a 1/7th scale figure making her rather large, but because she is posed leaning over she doesn’t take up too much space – so it shouldn’t be too hard to find display space for her! She has a really sexy, mature charm that Tharja fans are sure to fall in love with!
003
This is how she looks from the back!

Those long, slim legs are really something!! 。・゜・(ノ∀`)・゜・。

Tharja’s whole body is covered by black tights, it’s amazing how the texture of the tights comes out so vividly just through the paintwork!! It genuinely looks like she is wearing tights!!! The color becomes thinner around her thighs and darker around the knees as if the material is really stretching!

You really need to have a close look at things like this to really appreciate how much work goes into these figures! (`・ω・´)
004
Look at that lovely downcast look!

Tharja is somewhat addicted to the Avatar, and you can see her tsundere personality coming out in this pose very nicely! It’s quite hard to see from this photo, but she even has a light eye-shadow beneath her eyes! Her tender looking lips are also well worth noting – they actually have a bit of a duck face look, which adds a bit of cute appeal to her as well!! (*´∀`)

What is this strange warm feeling…?
Tharja must have cast one of her hexes on me!!
005
The pile of books is so detailed!

Each book has beautiful golden corners and you can even make out the separate pages in the books! Even when zoomed in like this they still look great! I love it when I get this excited about even the smaller parts of a figure – it shows just how amazing they are!

I’m sure that many of you aren’t paying too much attention to the books though… one’s eyes do tend to wander a little bit further upward don’t they?
I can’t help feeling a little bit jealous at that volume… (=゜ω゜=)
006
Her lovely, lean tummy!

Even though she is wearing black tights you can still tell she has soft, lady-like skin! You can also make out her rigid pelvis which contrasts against the soft skin beautifully! You’d be surprised how much of the human body’s beauty relies on this stomach area! (`・ω・´)
007
The sculptwork on her cape is fantastic!

Look close…. look very close!! The weight, the texture and the folds of the material are all so perfect! It looks more realistic than a real cape looks!!

It’s hard to imagine that this all came about about from a sculptor’s mind! Of course there are designs that the figure is based on, but to think it would come out looking so real is simply outstanding! We need to somehow preserve the skills of the sculptors for future generations!! ( `ω´)
008
My favorite shot for today! ヽ(゚∀゚)ノ

Normally my best shots end up as low angle shots, but today’s is a simple straight angle! The overall balance of the figure, the way her wrists are twisted and the fact that you can only just see her one eye peeking over the top all make this angle the best for me! (`・ω・´)
009
Max Factory puts so much effort into the smaller parts!

The skull is a similar dark red color to the inside of her cape. Fancy! (=゜ω゜=)

The books as well as the skull are planned to not be held in place by tabs or anything, so you can freely place them wherever you like! I always like being able to place the little extra items like these absolutely anywhere!

Basically, everyone is free to enter, and everyone is free to vote!!
Let me explain these each in a little more detail…

“I want to enter!”

(1) Take a photo that involves a (GSC-related) scale figure.
Nendoroid and figmas are not applicable by themselves, but you’re welcome to have them in the photo with a scale figure!

(2) Write down your name on some paper and take a second photo with your name and the figure.

(3) Submit your photos from (1) and (2) above on the Photo Contest Page!

https://event.goodsmile.info/photocon2013summer/en/#entry

003
Here is my photo!!

Isn’t she lovely?! I can never get tired of looking at Ulti-Madoka! ^^

I took my photo with an SLR camera, but you’re welcome to use whatever camera you like! Even cellphone or smartphone cameras are welcome! The most important thing is that you convey your love for the character, the series and the figure!! (`・ω・´)

The one restriction is that photos must be below 5MB in size!

You can confirm the file size by right-clicking and selecting ‘properties’, but if you’re still not sure just send it through anyway! 😛 If you find out it’s too big, then you can easily resize it with free image editing software!

Also note that anything too ecchi or with panties showing might not be selected for voting!

It doesn’t matter if they’re real people or figures! If you’re taking photos of girls then you need to keep their feelings in mind! (・ω・)ノ
002
Now write your name down and take a second photo!

This is required to confirm the entry really is your work!

It’s proof that you took the photo yourself! You don’t need to worry too much about the quality of this second photo – as long as the name and figure are visible it’s more than enough!

Note that if this verification photo isn’t correctly submitted or doesn’t contain your name then your entry won’t be put up on the site, so ensure it’s correct! You’re welcome to reenter if you feel something went wrong!

“I want to vote!”

・ Voting starts on the 21st June!
By voting for your favorite photo on Twitter or Facebook you’ll also have a chance to win one of the voter’s prizes! Plus you get to let everyone know which photo you think is best!

More photos that pass the selection process will be added for voting on the 5th July (Fri) and the 12th July (Fri)!

・Voting closes on the 17th July! (Wed)!
You can vote as many times as you like up until then, so be sure to check the new photos on the photo contest website each Friday!

https://event.goodsmile.info/photocon2013summer/en/

004

So let me keep this simple as I summarize quickly: All you need to do is send in your entries and then vote for your favorite photos! ヽ(゜∀゜)ノ

There are a few rules to keep in mind when sending in your entry, but they are all relatively easy for even me to understand so I don’t think they’ll cause any problems! You can take a read through the rules over on following page:

– Scale Figure Photo Contest –
https://event.goodsmile.info/photocon2013summer/en/

It’s been quite awhile since the last photo contest, so I’m really looking forward to seeing what comes from this one!

It’s actually a lot of fun to look through all the entries and see all the unique ways of taking photos that people come up with… not to mention just looking at all those lovely photos of figures is a load of fun!! (*´∀`*)

The winners will be announced on the 28th July during the WonFes & WonHobby Live Broadcast!

This is one of the projects that both the staff and the fans get to enjoy, so we’re really looking forward to everyone’s entries!

Anyway, that’s all for today!
I hope to see you all again tomorrow!! (・∀・)ノ゛

Totori: 19 Year Old ver.

Yay! The first prototype I’ve got in awhile!! ヽ(゚∀゚)ノ

001
Well… it’s only really been two days since I had the Nendo Petite IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls prototypes, but it feels like it’s been way longer! I think I’ve been spoilt with all products that have been announced recently! (´∀`)

But anyway! Today I’ll be taking a look a product which is planned and manufactured by Phat! company! ヽ(゚∀゚)ノ
002
From Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland:
Totori: 19 Year Old ver.!

The third figure from the 2011 PS3 game ‘Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland’! The figure is of the older version of Totori from the third game in the Arland series – plus she also comes with her homunculus Chimu-chan! Be sure to display her with the previously released Rorona and Meruru!

She is the forth figure from the Arland series and the third figure from Atelier Meruru! (`・ω・´)

However this time around Totori is being released by Tecmo Koei Games instead of Phat! Company – but the sculptor and planning is all the same team, so she still fits in beautifully with the others!
009
A diagram of the Arland series!

This was made by Uchitarou-san from Phat! Company!
Thank you Uchitarou-san!! ヽ(゜∀゜)ノ

The figure we’re looking at today is the Totori: 19 Year Old ver. from Atelier Meruru! If you display her with the previously released Rorona and Meruru you’ll have all three characters from the same game displayed together!!
003
This is how she looks from the back!

She’s quite a few years older than the previously released Totori figure, and thus is both a little taller and has a more mature looking build!

I must say that I had quite a bit of trouble photographing her in this bent-over pose without showing too much! Even though she’s wearing something less revealing than panties… I’ll be sure to protect the secrets of the skirt! (`ω´*)
004
Such adorable facial features!(*´∀`)

It’s no easy task to keep the lovely gentle feeling from Mel-san’s illustrations in figure form, but as you can see it has been achieved beautifully!

The shape of her eyes and the coloring has been very faithfully sculpted! Not to mention the sculptwork of her hair blowing behind her gives the figure an amazing dynamic feeling as well!
005
The paintwork on her outfit is so intricate!

The subtle gradient from the illustrations has also been faithfully painted onto the figure! Plus just like the previous Totori figure, her skirt is made with a cloudy transparent plastic which gives it such a soft, airy appearance!

It looks lovely!! (*゜∀゜)=3
006
Take note of the gaps!!

The gaps made between Totori’s outfit and her skin are one of my favorite things about this figure! The gaps together with the pose really make it seem like she’s actually ‘wearing’ clothes… and just look at that lovely bosom! Another really lovely piece of sculptwork is the area around her armpits! It’s like you can see the skin squishing together!! I always seem to write way too much when it comes to sections like these. ^^;

But Totori herself isn’t the only highlight – just look at the detail on the pouch around her shoulder! If you look really close at the side you can actually see the seam of the bag! Σ(゜Д゜;)
007
Her staff is also gorgeous!!

The staff Totori uses in battle has shiny gold paintwork!! There are so many different aspects to enjoy on this figure from both the front and back, I’m not sure how I’d want to display her!
008
Her homunculus, Chimu-chan!

Oooh! Even Chimu-chan’s outfit is super detailed!! The little accessory she wears even makes use of a metallic paint!! Phat! Company’s Atelier series has always paid amazing attention to the smaller details and accessories, but this time around Chimu-chan and an entire chair are included with the main figure!

From Yuuyu-P’s popular song with over a million views on Nico Nico Douga, ‘Deep Sea Girl’ comes a 1/8th scale of Hatsune Miku! The figure is based on the beautiful illustration by Haruyo, drawn in commemoration of the song being selected as a part of the Million Saisei & EXIT TUNES PRESENTS vocalodream album.

Miku is posed sitting at the bottom of the deep sea, with her beautiful pale skin contrasting with her jet black dress. Her hair and the coral around her gently sways in the ocean current, beautifully painting an underwater scene for fans to enjoy.

She has come out looking absolutely stunning!!

The sculpting, paintwork, base and smaller parts like the coral reefs are all perfect!

This figure managed to get the most views during the ‘Owarema 10’ that look place during the live WonHobby broadcast in February! It’s also the product that GSC has been diligently working on this entire year!

Today I’ll be giving everyone a closer look at all the areas on the figure that I like the most! There are quite a few photos, so take your time and enjoy!
001
But before I begin the review… (・ω・)ノ
Here is the original illustration by Haruyo-san!

Miku under the sea… she’s absolutely beautiful! Just look at her hair and dress floating about in the water as she sits on some coral covered rocks! Everything that makes this illustration so special has been transformed into figure form wonderfully – both fans of ‘Deep Sea Girl’ as well as those who are just figure fans will be in awe when they see this lovely figure in person!
005
Such an angelic smile!

Her head is tilted slightly to the side with such a gentle smiling expression.
She really looks just like an angel!! (*゜∀゜)=3

It’s so gentle that I actually get a bit of a motherly feeling from it… I imagine this is what the smile of the holy mother would look like!
011
Her dainty feet are also lovely!

The right foot is stretched out, while the left foot is curled a little inward… but both of them have such intricate toes! If you look really close you can even see she has a very light pink pedicure! The detail is unbelievable!

While it’s quite hard to see in this photo, you can even make out the anklebone when you look close up! It looks fantastic!
004
This is how she looks from above!

You get a really good feeling for the volume from this angle! She’s huge!! (゜∀゜)

But even more important than the size is the fact that the overall balance of the figure and use of space all comes together so nicely! This is what separates a good sculptor from a great one!

By the way, in case you missed it, I did a separate blog yesterday featuring a 360 degree spin around Deep Sea Girl Miku. Be sure to check it out if you missed it!
A 360 Degree Look at Hatsune Miku: Deep Sea Girl ver.
010
The line from her neck down her back is lovely!

Just looking at the thin neck and shoulders makes me want to jump at her from behind and give her a hug!! The pale, soft looking skin has a nice feminine feeling to it as well! (*´∀`*)

Once again I have to point out the fluttering hem of the dress as well as her twisting twin-tails! You can see them nicely from this angle!
006
Let’s try a bit of a lower angle!

Looking down on Miku from above is a wonderful way to enjoy all the details, but looking up at her from below gives you the feeling that you’re under the water together with her! I quite like the view from down here!

My eyes seem to wander straight toward her lower legs when I look at this photo! They’re so smooth and shiny!!
009
Unbelievably detailed fingertips! Σ(゚Д゚;)

How can just looking at her fingers be so captivating?!

The way her hands are put together, the angles of her wrists and those dainty little fingers… they look even more realistic than a real girl’s hands!! Plus the contrast that comes from the black dress and the pale skin is fantastic, and just look at that slight sunken area below her collarbone…

She’s beautiful… simply beautiful!!! (´ー`)

007
She’ll show you a number of expressions!

Depending on the angle you choose to look at her from, the feeling behind her expression can change quite drastically. Plus Miku herself isn’t the only part of this figure, the coral reefs and rocks around her that create her stand are also lovely, and the paintwork is incredible! (((゚Д゚)))

This figure has every bit of GSC’s skill and technique put into it, making a one-of-a-kind figure! If you decide to pick her up, be sure to take your time and enjoy her from every possible angle you can find!
008
What part do you like the most about her?

I just want to say “Everything!” when I see a question like that. 😛

But if I had to pick something, I’d say that the legs and armpits are my absolute best parts! I’m also quite fond of the shadowed areas where her skin meets the black dress – particularly around her breast area. Aki, the president of GSC, said his favorite part was the her spine!

Hatsune Miku: Deep Sea Girl ver.

GSC’s most worked on product so far this year!

001
Hatsune Miku: Deep Sea Girl ver.!

She’ll be up for preorder from tomorrow!

The prototype was first revealed back at WonFes in February, but ever since she has been through change after change, a few more changes and then another change… to get her ready to be officially announced!

I feel it’s been a long struggle to get her looking perfect, but when you really take the time to enjoy this figure, you can see all the hard work that has gone into it!

Today I’ll be spinning her around in order to show off each and every angle of this lovely figure! ヽ(゚∀゚)ノ

Deep Sea Girl Miku is a rather long figure, which makes photos for the blog (and web team) rather difficult. You can get a good feeling for how big she is in the first photo up above! Remember that size as you have a look at each of these photos!
002
Let’s start off from the front!

This is of course intended as the main angle to display her from! (`・ω・´)

Deep Sea Miku has a sweet smile on her face as she looks up toward the surface of the water. The balance between her body, dress and hair is simply magnificent! The figure is also too big – I can’t use my screen as a background like normal!
003
Moving a little bit to the left!

From this angle her adorable face is looking straight at you! The positioning of her thighs can actually be quite revealing from this angle! But I checked… nothing is showing in this photo! (・ω・)

She has a very slim bodyline overall, and her skin appears to have a lovely lady-like softness to it!
004
A look from the direct left!

The first thing you have to notice is the amount of volume her hair has! The manufacturing have been joking about how exactly this is going to be done… but it’s really no joke! It’s some very complex sculpting!! But I trust the GSC manufacturing team will find a way around it!! (((゜Д゜)))

And to repeat what I said from the previous photo… those thighs are really at a rather revealing angle!!
005
The left-side back!

All you can see his her huge hair!! As she is posed as if underwater, her hair is all floating up around her in a very gentle looking scene!

Most figures focus on the x-axis and y-axis, but this one also needed to think about the z-axis while she was being sculpted to ensure the hair was floating around as if she was underwater. When you look at her from a different angle you’ll notice just how different the hair looks! It’s incredible!
006
Directly from the back!

From the front you can only partially see some coral reef around her, but there is a lovely reef visible right from the back as well! It’s actually rather large and has quite an impressive presence just by itself! Σ(゜Д゜;)

A lot of you may think that the figure could simply have done without this particular reef at the back, but it creates a lovely contrast with the darker black and blue colors of Miku, which really pulls the figure together beautifully!

Plus, figures need to look great no matter what angle you choose to look at them from! There needs to be balance all around the figure to ensure it is a solid product that fans will appreciate forever! Even if it’s a view from the back, that shouldn’t be a reason to cut corners!
007
Moving onto the right-side back!

I ended up writing an awful lot about the coral reef, but Miku herself is certainly not to be forgotten! Her beautiful, thin back and the way her hair is tied up at the back both look magnificent! Even through you can’t see her expression from this angle, it’s still a work of art… (*´∀`*)
008
A look from the direct right!

It’s quite hard to see from the photos, but just look at how the frills on her dress are piling up! Even the texture and wrinkles seen on the original illustration have been faithfully recreated as a part of the figure! If you’re a fan of the original illustration there is no way you could so no to this!
009
And a little more to the right!

I think this is my personal favorite angle!! (=゜ω゜)ノ

When you take the picture you get a good feeling of the difference is distance between the reef and Miku herself, which really adds to the underwater effect! Plus just look at those sexy feet! They’re so delicate and beautiful!
010
Hatsune Miku: Deep Sea Girl ver.!

She’ll be up for preorder tomorrow!!

It’s so much fun taking pictures of a such a big figure!!(`・ω・´)

I tend to zoom things up much larger than they actually are when I take pictures for the blog, but even so Deep Sea Miku still looks amazing! She really is a load of fun to photograph! Tomorrow I’ll continue my review in standard Mikatan style, taking a closer look at the most interesting parts!!

Anyway, that’s all for today!
I hope to see you all again tomorrow!! (・∀・)ノ゛

Princess of the Crystal

Initiate the Survival Strategy!! ヽ(゚∀゚)

001
Ooh! Shuu-chan is once again an excellent model!! (`・ω・´)

The last time Shuu-chan was in an article, talk of his amazing pose was sent all around the offices! But Shuu-chan doesn’t mind, and was happy to reenact yet another pose!! You can tell from these poses that he really cares for the products he has worked on! (Which is very important when you’re in charge of them!)

Even though you can’t see it in the photo, he is actually standing on tippy-toes to recreate the effect of high heels! 😛

But anyway, today I’ll be reviewing a release sample of this lovely figure! Apologies for everyone for the delay of her release!! (`・ω・´)
002
From Mawaru Penguin Drum:
Princess of the Crystal!

From the anime series ‘Mawaru Penguindrum’ comes a 1/8th scale figure of the Princess of the Crystal, sculpted in one of her most memorable poses from her transformation scene.

Every part of her glamorous outfit, including the wonderful penguin hat, has been carefully sculpted to faithfully reproduce the original designs. The skirt is also removable allowing you to pose her without it as well. Enjoy her long slender legs, her beautiful hips and her lovely curves whenever you like with this beautiful figure!

I know I’m repeating myself, but sorry again for the delays!!

It has taken rather long to release this particular figure, but every day that she was being worked made her a little bit better, making sure that she came out in the highest quality possible!

This is a figure that’s not only for fans of the Princess of the Crystal! It’s also for figure fans who simply like to see a very high level of sculpting and manufacturing expertise!
003
This is how she looks from the back!

I simply have to mention her huge dress here!! The way it is sculpted gives the fabric a really heavy, thick appearance! Although the figure itself is actually quite heavy too! 😛

The area that needed to be painted is huge, and the color on the opposite side of the dress is different, which apparently meant that a lot of effort was needed in order to ensure the paintwork stayed even and without error. In the end I think it has come out looking wonderful! Just seeing this dress is what really makes the character for me! ヽ(゜∀゜)ノ

Plus just like in the series, the dress can be completely removed!
I’ll be showing that a bit later on in the blog! ( ̄ー ̄)
004
She’s so beautiful!! (*゚∀゚)=3

The same feeling behind Lily Hoshino’s illustration has been kept in the figure form very nicely! Her eyelashes are so cute!! (*´∀`*)

Kawapon was the sculptor who painted her face, and I remember him mentioning that it was a very difficult expression to get right – she does have very unique looking eyes. In the end it seems his hard work has paid off through, as the expression looks great!
005
The underside of her dress!

You can even see the sewing lines on the fluffy edges of her dress! They make for such cute little frills! I really have to commend sculptors when they manage to turn the 2D illustrations into such amazing 3D figures!
006
Displayed with the dress removed!!

Whenever she walked down the stairs she slowly but surely showed a little more skin… and you can even show that with the figure! Yay! Show more!! щ(゜Д゜щ)

But be careful when removing the dress that none of the paint rubs off on other parts! Take it off slowly and carefully!
007
She looks great without the dress too!

Just look at that lovely bottom, her just-visible shoulder blades and those boots covering her soft looking thighs! This must be the ideal body that all men and women wish for! It’s beautiful!! 。・゜・(ノД`)・゜・。

You can choose between the voluminous Princess with her dress attached, or go for the sexier version with the dress removed! I’m really not sure which I prefer!
008
Her triple-laced panties!

I normally am very careful to avoid panty shots on the blog, but this is a bit of an exception… it’s actually hard to really say whether they are exactly panties or not!

I’m guessing it’s safe this time around seen they appeared on the product page anyway! (*´`ω´)
009
Her corset has a shiny paint coat!

Her gloves and boots also have the same shine… it gives a kind of bondage-look which seems to suit the Princess of the Crystal rather well! You can’t see it in this photo, but the penguin hat she is wearing also has a lovely pearl coating!

The paintwork that has gone into this figure is astounding!!
You really need to see it for yourself!

1/8th Scale Mikudayo

I know it’s a bit late, but a big thank you to everyone who watched the Hatsune Miku no Jikan (4th Period) live broadcast! ヽ(゚∀゚)ノ
001
I always get nervous when I’m about to do a live broadcast, but this time around I felt so nervous I thought I was going to be sick… although as soon as I had finished playing the 3DS ‘Hatsune Miku Project mirai 2’ game, I felt a lot better… as I manged to get through without a game over! 😛

This is me playing the song ‘YumeYume’!! (((゚Д゚)))

You can also see Mikudayo is off on the side watching me play!! I was trying really hard to concentrate on playing the game, when all of a sudden the desk started rattling and probably making the viewers wonder what was going! Attack of the Mikudayo! She also tried to dance for everyone, but her dances were rather robotic… but I forgive her! Because she’s just too cute!! (`・ω・´)

On that note, today we’ll be looking more into that cuteness by taking a look at this soon-to-be-released figure!
002
1/8th Scale Mikudayo!

The popular Mikudayo character costume based on ‘Character Vocal Series 01: Hatsune Miku’ was first transformed into a Nendoroid, and now is also on her way to becoming a 20cm tall 1/8th scale vinyl figure as well!

The hair section on the figure even makes use of the same texture as the original for a truly realistic rendition of the costume! As an optional part, she also includes the Mikudayo x Fujiya collaboration product, ‘pop candy’, which she can hold in her hand for a slightly different pose!

She looks just like the real thing!!

The huge head and body are exactly what makes Mikudayo so special! It’s a product that really shows off GSC’s sculpting and manufacturing ability!
003
This is how she looks from the back!

From the back you get a really nice look at the ‘sexy’ bare skin between her skirt and boots – boots that are long enough to be wellingtons! The shiny appearance of her outfit and wrinkly back have also been carefully included on the figure version!

A special stand is included to support her head, but she can stand by herself just fine without it. Even from the back she has such an incredible presence!
004
Those eyes!!!

It really feels like she is staring into your soul! Just like the real Mikudayo!! The rounded appearance of her face and position of her eyes are both wonderful!

When I look into her eyes my instincts tell me that I shouldn’t look away… I get the feeling that if I do I may be get attacked… 😛
005
‘Pop Candy’ and hands to hold it!

Relax! Relax! She’s not attacking anyone!! (´;ω;`)

Last year there was a collaboration between Mikudayo and Fujiya’s ‘Pop Candy’, so it had to be included as one of her optional parts! An orange Pop Candy is included along with exchangeable hand parts that allow her to hold it!
006
You can’t help but want to pat her!

I think the biggest thing about this 1/8th scale Mikudayo is that her hair has a soft, flocking finish! The fact that she is so fluffy makes it even more like the actual costume! Not to mention that it actually feels really nice to the touch!

Do be careful through, as it can be quite easy to damage the flocking – just be sure to pet her gently! Plus you don’t want to make her angry… you won’t like her when she’s angry… (`・ω・´)
007
A nice size for display with an incredible presence!

Mikudayo is about 20cm in height, making her not too big and not too small – a nice size to put on display almost anywhere in your room! Put her in the living room, the entrance hall, on the floor, next to your bed… no matter where you choose to put her she’ll defend your home to the best of her ability! (I think…)

I personally think she should join the ‘entrance hall’ group with Kyubey-san, Dekacchu Kirari and the threeA products!
009
Look how happy Miku looks with her!

Nendoroid Miku-san 2.0 and Mikudayo are releasing just two days apart! If you head to the shops from the 29th May onward you should be able to pick both of them up together!

Mikudayo is articulated, however it’s only really her arms and wrists that move around (her neck also can turn a little) – but seen she is a scale figure it’s still quite a lot of posability! Those of you who really want to recreate Mikudayo’s dance moves may have to wait for Nendo Mikudayo to release… sorry for the delay!
