Madoka Kaname: Maiko Ver.

Kyoto is like a second home to me, as when I was in university I lived alone there! It’s so easy to go out and have fun in Kyoto in ways that Tokyo just doesn’t understand!

Today I’ll be taking a look at a figure filled with that lovely Kyoto atmosphere…

Madoka Kaname: Maiko Ver.

From ‘Puella Magi Madoka Magica’ comes a 1/8th scale figure of Madoka Kaname as a maiko – based on the illustration seen on the pre-sale tickets for the Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair! The figure is a faithful rendition of the original illustration, with both the outfit, Japanese umbrella and autumn colors coming together to bring out the atmosphere of Kyoto perfectly!

The details on her hair accessories and the beautiful pattern on her kimono have all been carefully sculpted in a cute, playful pose for fans to enjoy!

Her light blue kimono is simply beautiful! (●´ェ｀●)ﾎﾟｯ

She is posed elegantly holding up part of her kimono, which reveals some contrasting red cloth by her feet! We have previously seen the Nendoroid version of this elegant Madoka sold at overseas events, and now fans can add the scale version to their collections too! ♥

The long orange sash flows beautifully at the back!

That neck… look at her beautiful neck!!


A slightly different angle of the lovely neck!

The purple hair accessories also match up with Madocchi’s pink hair so nicely!

I really like this angle, as it’s just the right angle for me to picture her gently twisting her head toward me with a gentle “Hmm?”, if I called out to her!

The cute stars on her sash clip are also lovely! (｡・д・｡)
The smallest of details are always so beautiful on kimono figures!

As you can see, the umbrella can be removed!

Even the underside of the umbrella is incredibly detailed! ★

Her feet also look fantastic!


The base has a lovely autumn feeling! ー(｡-_-｡)♡

The geta sandals are also very suited to the season and to a Maiko! It all comes together to create such a beautiful outfit!

Kimonos truly are the best!!

The Miyako Messe is very close to the Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art! I remember going to that museum for both class and my personal hobbies a number of times, it’s an amazing place to visit! The ‘Takeuchi Seiho’s Modern-Day Japanese Paintworks’ that are currently on display in Tokyo are also going to be at that museum from October – the 80th anniversary display for the museum!

Art Museums are filled with interesting things to see and learn, and I highly recommend taking a look if you get the chance! Although I haven’t been able to go to many myself recently… hopefully I can find some time to see Takeuchi Seiho’s work! |дﾟ)ﾁﾗｯ

…how did this become a blog about museums?! ( ﾟдﾟ　)ﾊｯ!

Hatsune Miku Goods!

Today I’m at the Yokohama Arena for Hatsune Miku: Magical Mirai 2013! I’m helping out with product sales, so I thought I’d dedicate this blog to looking at some of the Hatsune Miku goods! Let’s start off with…

Earphone Jack Accessories!

Adorable little figures based on illustrations by Y-Oji, Souno and Putidevil! They’re all so cute!

My personal favorite is Hatsune Miku: Fluffy ver.!


This Miku is attached to a strap making it easy to use with the iPhone 5 too! It even has a hook so you could attach it to a zip or something else instead!

I just saw GSC’s resident Miku lover and the head planner for these earphone jacks is wandering around the offices, so lets see if she has anything to add!

I really found these really useful! They let you put the cute figures on display even when you don’t have an earjack hole to put them in! ε=(｡・д・｡)

(・∀・) “Exactly! I’m quite a fan of earphone jack accessories and have quite a large collection… I needed something to display them on without the need of a real jack! Which is why I wanted something like this to be included!”

In the corner of GSC’s offices, a bunch of staff are hard at work!

You probably can’t quite tell what they’re doing, so let me explain with a photo!

They’re putting sashes into bags for these events!! (σ｀･ω･)σ


At both Magical Mirai 2013 and CharaHobby 2013…

The first 390 customers to buy Nendoroid Petite: Mikudayo will receive one of these sashes with the event name on as a bonus to display with her! ヾ(･ω･o)ﾉ

Just place some double-sided tape or glue on the edges (the red circled area in the photo below) and stick it in a circle!

Here is a list of what will be on sale at the event:

The ever-popular Attack on Titan and wooser goods will be available along with Danganronpa goods! There will also be some goods from the anime starting in October, ‘Arpeggio of Blue Steel‘.

The Nendoroid Petite Hatsune Miku Selection will also have early sales following on from Magical Mirai! So those who have been waiting to get their hands on Romeo and Cinderella Miku will finally have a chance!

Nendoroid Hibiki Kuze & figma Anniversary Night

“Hee-ho!!”


Hello everyone! Kahotan here! Sorry for the icy start, but wouldn’t it be nice if we could all keep a Jack Frost at home to keep things cool during the Summer?

But today’s review isn’t actually Jack Frost, but in fact another Nendoroid from the same universe! The long awaited bunny-hoodie Nendoroid…!!

Nendoroid Hibiki Kuze!!   +ﾟ｡*(*´∀｀*)*｡ﾟ+

From the anime series ‘DEVIL SURVIVOR 2 THE ANIMATION’ comes a Nendoroid of the main character, Hibiki Kuze! He comes with two expressions including a confident ‘summoner’ expression as well as the gentle smile he always showed when talking with Daichi or Io.

He comes with various optional parts including his cellphone, his primary demon Byakko and even summoning effect parts, which altogether allow you to pose him in the demon summoning scene from the series! Alternate head parts allowing you to display him wearing the hood on his trademark bunny-ear hoodie are also included, giving you even more options to choose from!

He’s so cute!!

I haven’t seen such an adorable male Nendoroid in ages! He’s easily just as cute as most female Nendoroids! Here is how he looks from the back!

Kuze-kun is known to be a rather serious character in the series…
But that doesn’t mean we can’t have his cute side too!

That’s exactly what Oda-P said while we were planning this figure… and the head planner for this project was none other than… myself! σ(｡・д・｡)

(・∀・) “In the series, Byakko is a rather fierce demon… but the Nendoroid form is cute and easy to display by Kuze’s side!”

(・∀・) “I decided that GSLS’s Fujii-san is the closest person to Kuze Hibiki in our offices, so let’s see what he thinks about Byakko! ☆”


Look at his hairstyle! Don’t you agree he has the same hairstyle as Kuze-kun?! Not to mention that by some amazing coincidence he’s also wearing a striped white and black shirt to match up with Byakko!

(｀・ω・) “Ooh! The tail and neck can move! He also looks soft and fluffy!”
(・∀・) “Yep! Byakko can take slightly varying poses for different situations!”

Here he is standing atop my old blue cellphone! Big, fluffy-looking feet and all!

(・∀・) “Kuze-kun also comes with a very detailed phone of his own!”

You can even make out the ‘Nicaea’ logo on the screen!

(・∀・) “And my personal favorite… the bunny-ear hoodie!”

The ears are even articulated! Here I’ve posed the left ear slightly more apart!

(・∀・) “Characters with hoods should definitely be displayed with the hood up!”

I was also in charge of the planning of two other Nendoroids with hoods! Nendoroid Rin and Nendoroid Ren! The hoods connect onto the front hair part, so you can still easily swap out expressions too!

(・∀・) “Here we have his more serious ‘summoner’ expression!

I was constantly in contact with ‘Index’, the publisher of DEVIL SURVIVOR2, while planning and developing this Nendoroid, and through lots of discussions and adjustments we were able to create a really great product! It’s such a great feeling to see the product I’ve been working on finally be officially announced and be ready for order!

It’s a figure filled with not only GSC’s love for the character, but also our love for the publisher:

Onto the next part of the blog… I managed to sneak into the figma Anniversary Night last Friday, so let’s take a look at what was going on!

The event was held in Shinjuku LOFT PLUS/ONE which is right in the middle of Kabukicho! I got completely lost on my way there and only just managed to reach the venue at the start of the show! Shinjuku is such a confusing labyrinth! (´・ω・`)

From the outside it looked like a somewhat shady place, but on the inside there was nothing but festivities! Let me show you some photos of the event…in no particular order!

First a look at some of the heroines that began is the figma legend!!

T-These were the original figma joints?!


According to Kaneko Nitohei, the compatibility of K-ON! characters and the figma series was much better than everyone expected!


There were even some nostalgic stories of figma Camp!


There were even instances in the early figma years where all the staff got together to rework things!


The figma series has continued to expand with big names such as Nintendo’s series and the IDOLM@STER series! ☆



A figma MAX Watanabe based on the poses of figma Yuuki Nagato! (Apparently used as a New Year’s greeting card at the time!)


The sekirara series includes a number of kitties, which was apparently MAX Watanabe’s idea!!


Apparently making the helmet cost about the same as a complete figma! ∑(ﾟДﾟ)


The discussions continued on, even touching on the Dragon Knight series!


Talking about the disaster of WonHobby 9! Apparently the police were involved…?


A talk with Asai-san about BRS, the series that created a new connection between anime and figures!


Sorry about the poor pictures! I’m no good with pictures in the dark it seems…

I hope that the photos gave you even a small idea of the fun that went on at the event! It was very interesting to hear of the past memories of Max Factory’s products and well as how they are going to continue to advance in the near future!

Even with a certain popular anime airing at the same time, we managed to get many viewers on NicoNico Douga as well! A big thank you to both those who came to the event as well as all those who watched the broadcast!

The Hobby Maker Joint Figure Exhibition & WonHobby 18 Mini Exhibition Notice!

Hello! How is everyone today?

I’ve been sticking to air conditioned rooms as much as possible recently… I can’t take this Summer heat…

But anyway, last weekend was the Hobby Maker Joint Product Exhibition at the Akihabara UDX building so let’s see what was going on at the event!! Here you can see Arimuu from the sales team who was manning the reception desk!

As usual we had a load of different companies taking part in the event! Let me take this opportunity to extend a big thank you to all of them! Good Smile and Max Factory also had a number of items on display with a focus on the recent items that were on display at WonFes! (ﾟ∀ﾟ*)ﾉ

Here we have GSC & Max Factory’s ‘Attack on Titan’ diorama corner – definitely one of the showpieces of the event! ★

Many of you have probably already seen the diorama as it was also on display at WonFes – the amount of detail that went into it is very impressive!!

But now for something a little different!
I’m going to take a look at some of the products from other companies that I thought looked interesting!

Let me start off with other companies distributed by Good Smile! ♪
From GSR we have the incredibly detailed Lamborghini Countach L400! ☆

Next up we have FREEing’s Homura Akemi: Yukata Ver. – ready to make you wish you were some candy floss!

WING’s Purple Heart showing off her cute and cool side as the main character from Hyperdimension Neptunia! ☆

Gift’s long-awaited Hayate Yagami: Swimsuit Ver., completing the magical girl trio!

Even smaller than before but just as cute, Fate/Zero is joining the Petanko Mini! Series! ☆

We also have Max Factory’s Benmaru, who has stolen my heart and won’t give it back! She’s simply stunning!!

Even though she hasn’t been painted, I already want her!! ヽ(ﾟ◇ﾟ )ﾉ
Just look at those beautiful long legs and dainty feet!

Moving on, let’s take a look at some of the figures from unrelated companies that caught my eye! Firstly we have the almighty battleship, Mighty Gou from Kenelephant!


From Movic we have the Color Collection: Uta no Prince-sama – ShiningAllStarVer!


It won’t be long before you can take home all of these Princes home with you! I must also add that the Kuroko no Basuke figures below the princes also look lovely!

From Medicom Toy we have Real Action Heroes: Homura Akemi! She comes with a load of weapons to play around with as well!

When I first saw Tsukiko-chan on display I think I became the ‘Hentai-san’ she speaks of so very often…:P

Each character will need such different paintwork – a great test of painting skills as well as the love for the characters!! (*´Д｀)=з

cafereo is bringing us the ‘Super High School Level Plushie #01: Makoto Naegi’!

I guess that seen this is #01, we can expect more of the characters to be coming up soon as well!

Wonder Festival 2013 (Summer)…
Just two days left!!

There are all sorts of things to enjoy at the booth and the staff are all ready to make sure everyone has a great time!! WonFes only comes around twice a year, so don’t miss out on the fun!!

Tomorrow is the big set-up day! The rest of the staff and myself will all be headed to the Makuhari Messe to get the booth ready for Sunday!! I still can’t believe how fast this day has come!! (((ﾟДﾟ)))

The cool type, Ranko Kanzaki!

The character who was voted #1 in the 2nd Cinderella Girl’s election! She is wearing the so called ‘Kuroranko’ outfit and is holding an incredibly detailed magical(?) book in her hand!

Her famous line ‘Drown in the darkness!’ comes to mind when I see this!

The cute type, Uzuki Shimamura!

Shimamura-san was always said to be too ordinary and never really stood out, but in the new generation she was given this new outfit which really made her shine!

Her cute little belly button, huge smile and double peace signs are all so adorable!! The detail on her curly hair is also well worth mentioning!

The passion-type, Mika Jougasaki!

That outfit is way too sexy!! When I first became a passion producer I really wanted this outfit in the game but it’s so hard to get hold of!! Of course I’ve got it now, but now I need to get hold of this figure version!!

I’m sure anyone here who has played Cinderella Girls knows just how special the SR and SR+ outfits are! To be able to keep them by your side is such a treat!!

You can see there are a number of holes to display lots of your favorite Nendoroid Petites on! Each of the characters also comes with the standard transparent stand as well, allowing you to display them as normal as well! (When they’re on display on the stage their little feet touch down onto the floor so nicely though – I’d definitely make use of it!)

Dekacchu Kirari Moroboshi ~Lovely Princess ver.~

From the popular social game ‘IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls’ comes a newly sculpted ‘Lovely Princess’ version of the popular Dekacchu Kirari Moroboshi sold during the 2013 Winter WonFes! Her outfit and accessories have all been faithfully sculpted and she’s even bigger than before! It’s a rather unique looking version of Kirari that fans are sure to enjoy!

This also follows on from last year’s WonFes – Dekacchu Kirari #2!

This time she is wearing the ‘Lovely Princess’ outfit from her S-Rare card! Just like the S-Rare+ of Mika that I mentioned earlier, this is not an easy outfit to get hold of in the game! But just look how happy she looks! ヽ(ﾟ∀ﾟ)ﾉ

Compared with the Kirari from last year!

She’s actually bigger then before… but the sitting pose makes her slightly less tall overall! She is about 10% bigger than last year’s Kirari! (((ﾟДﾟ)))

I simple cannot understand how time always manages to go by so quickly the month before WonFes!! I’m running out of time to do my WonFes product reviews…

From the hugely popular social game ‘IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls’ comes figmas of Mika Jougasaki & Rika Jougasaki in their school uniforms! Mika comes with her cell-phone as well as an alternate head part to display her with twin tails. Rika comes with a rhinoceros beetle, an Alice band with bear-ears and her memo pad as optional parts.

These two passion characters from Cinderella Girls will be joining the figma series! I love these two so much that I’d happily spend every last cent I have on them!

I may be a huge fan of them… but I have to say…
Anyone who doesn’t grab these two will regret it!!

They are so incredibly well-made that I got goosebumps when I first saw them! Cinderella Girls fans can pick them up without a second thought, and even if you’re not a fan of the game I’d recommend picking them up – you need to experience this quality first hand!! The recent figmas are unbelievably well-made!! (((ﾟДﾟ)))


This is how the packaging looks!

Many of the expressions and accessories seen in the game are included with them, and the actual figmas themselves are very finely detailed and are sure to make any passion producers crack a smile each and every time they see them!

For those who don’t know the game too well, these two are sisters! The top is 17 year-old Mika and the bottom is her 12 year-old younger sister, Rika! Mika has a much more mature feeling to her, while Rika has a lovely, playful appearance!

Mika: Embarrassed Face & Twin Tails!

Mika is actually a much more innocent and pure girl than most people imagine and I think this pose shows that nicely! How could anyone look at this adorable expression and not fall in love with her! (*゜∀゜)=3

You can also choose between displaying her with either a single ponytail or instead with these twin-tails – a choice that I’m personally very happy to see! Plus the purple cardigan tied around her hips can be removed allowing you to get a better look at her lovely slim waist!! (;´Д`)

The popular winking face and cell-phone from the game are both included! If you look closely you’ll even see the cell-phone has a strap, which is a tiny chibi version of Rika!! They really do get along with each other really well!! 。・゜・(ノД`)・゜・。

You can’t see it in this photo, but the front of the strap even has a cute little expression! Max Factory always puts so much extra effort into all the accessories!

Rika: Smiling Face & Bear Ear Alice-band!

“Producer! Producer! Take a look at these bear ears! What do you think?”
Ahhhhh!! Rika is too cute!!! (ﾉﾟ∀ﾟ)ﾉ彡┻┻

This is the scene where you take Rika to the amusement park!! I always loved seeing her innocent smile during that scene, and now I can have it right by my side whenever I like! What a wonderful age we live in!!

Taking notes for the perfect date plan!

Looking forward to the date at the amusement park, Rika is taking notes from Mika on how to have the perfect date! The cute expression with sparkling eyes along with a notepad and pen are all included! (Rika worked super hard cleaning up the bath and saving up her pocket money to buy tickets to the amusement park!)

Plus she also comes with a rhinoceros beetle! In the game she finds one of these while working and becomes super excited about it – she also comes with a hand that can hold the beetle!

Nendoroid Nyaruko: Maid Ver.

Only 11 days left until WonFes!!

Shuu-chan is enjoying this way too much!! (((ﾟДﾟ)))

But it’s understandable! Everyone gets excited just before an event takes place! Plus it’s become tradition to have Shuu-chan take the pose of any figures he was in charge of… which includes today’s WonFes sample!!

Today’s pose was quite a tough one… well tried though! 😛

Today’s WonHobby 18 Product:
Nendoroid Nyaruko: Maid Ver.!

From the second season of the anime sure to bring your SAN points down, ‘Haiyore! Nyaruko-san W’ comes a figure of Nyaruko herself dressed in an adorable maid outfit! She has her hair tied up in little balls together with cute twin tails, altogether creating an adorable appearance!

Nyaruko comes with three different expressions including a winking expression, an excited expression as well as a smiling expression. She also comes with a variety of optional parts including a ‘Nightgaunt Drink’ on a tray, a ‘Kurogane no Striver’ Blu-ray boxset, heart effect parts to let Nyaruko show her never-ending love and even a Nendoroid sized version of the mysterious Manta-kun! The crawling chaos is ready to serve all the fans!

My sanity points are not going to last long at this rate!!

This lovely maid outfit featured on both the 4th volume of the original light novel as well as in the anime! That hairstyle is so adorable!! Keep an eye on your sanity points while reading through this blog or you might be in trouble!!

Shuu-chan also showed his love for anime by pointing out that this kind of hairstyle is also Sailor Moon’s hairstyle! You don’t see it all that often, but Nyaruko also pulls it off very nicely!!

Simple but lovely! (`･ω･´)

Just by looking over these parts you can already see it is filled with the the lovely chaotic world of Nyaruko-san! The previously released Nendoroid Nyaruko-san included a Nendoroid-sized version of Shantak-kun, but this version comes with Mantak-kun instead! Look at that adorable ω-shaped face!

A Nightgaunt Drink filled with love!

For those who don’t know, a Nightgaunt is a terrifying fictional creature from the Cthulhu Mythos! Here we have Nyaruko-san posed bringing this lovely drink to Mahiro! I’m pretty sure even I would be happy to drink this no matter what was in it, so long as I got to enjoy that amazing smile!

The Nightgaunt inside the cup isn’t stuck in place, so you could take it out and have Nyaruko bring a more normal looking drink instead! Just pick the pose that you prefer! (Although if you’re low on sanity I would recommend removing it…)

A ‘Kurogane no Striver’ Blu-ray Box Set!

Nyaruko-san has got her hands on the box set of her favorite series ‘Kurogane no Striver’, and you can see just how excited she is about it! The box itself as well as the expression look just like they did in the anime!! Such amazing quality is always amazing to see!! (( ；゜Д゜))

The hearts to display around her each come with their own little stands for you to adjust their position, and they are made from semi-transparent parts which look wonderful as always! Another important thing to note is that Nyaruko-san’s trademark ‘ahoge’ (the hair sticking up on her head) is included in three different variations – normal, lightning-shaped and heart-shaped!

Stare at this photo for five… or even just three seconds!!

Isn’t she just adorable?! This is the level of cuteness where I start to drool when I stare at her for too long! The arm here is actually the arm to hold a book, but the tab also fits the heart parts! It’s not a perfect fit, but it certainly works to create this pose of her holding the hearts! （*´∀｀*）

Back to the Nyaruko-san that everyone knows best! It’s amazing how different a she looks by simply changing her hairstyle! They’re both very cute though!!

The maid outfit will most likely look quite nice on a number of different characters, so be sure to have some others try it on as well! ヽ(゜∀゜)ノ

We’ve got less than two weeks?! (( ；ﾟДﾟ))

Wonder Festival 2013 (Summer) is just around the corner!! The offices are filled with display simulations and everyone is busy getting ready for the big day!

WonFes only comes around twice a year, so we need to make sure it’s a ton of fun for everyone who visits the booth!! (`･ω･´)

Today we’ll be taking a look at…
Kurisu Makise: White Coat Ver.!

The ‘hypothetical science adventure’ game Steins;Gate has just recently had a sequel and movie version released, and from that series comes a 1/8th scale figure of Kurisu Makise wearing her white lab coat. She is posed with her long white lab coat fluttering behind her, as she blushes with the same cute expression she made whenever others made fun of her.

In her right hand she holds a bottle of ‘Dr.Iepper’ and on her left wrist she is wearing Mirai Gadget #12: ‘Darling no Baka’. It’s a pose and figure that any fans of the tsundere genius are sure to enjoy!

The first WonHobby product review is none other than Christina!!

This is a special version of the 1/8th scale Christina released in March 2012, which features her wearing her lab coat instead of her casual clothes! The pose is the same as the previous version, but the overall sculpting has been changed quite a bit when compared to the original!

Those who already own the original version can display the two together, while those who missed out on her can take this opportunity to add the lovely Christina to their collections!!

This is how she looks from the back!

On her left wrist you can see the Future Gadget #12: Darling no Baka, and in her right hand she is holding a bottle of Okarin and Christina’s favorite drink!

The bottle can be removed from her hand if you prefer to display her without it, or with something else that fits into her hand! ヽ(ﾟ∀ﾟ)ﾉ

This is the bottle and stickers included!

The label needs to be stuck on manually, but it’s just a matter of wrapping it around the middle so it’s not a difficult task at all!

Another thing I have to point out is the paintwork of the liquid in the bottle! Christina is holding the bottle at an angle, so the liquid inside the bottle is also slightly over to one side! Try and stick the label on so that the logo is on the side with less liquid, as this will leave the label showing when she is holding it at the right angle!

I wouldn’t call this flat-chested at all!!

The intricate curves of her body and arched back show off her bust quite nicely, and I don’t think it’s anything to be ashamed of at all! (In fact, I think they have quite a lovely shape!)

Not to mention that her low-rise hotpants and the creases on her blouse all look fantastic too!!

Tsundere! Tsundere!! ( ﾟ∀ﾟ)o彡

She may normally be a very strong-willed character, but the times when these adorable expressions come out are when I really fall for her!

It’s also rather amazing how nicely huke’s original illustration has been preserved in the figure! It makes it a must-have figure not only for Steins;Gate fans, but also fans of huke as well!

The lab coat is a little too big for her!

Looking at her from the back and seeing the lab coat billowing behind her along with her hair flowing behind her really gives a lovely dynamic feeling to the figure! In most cases I don’t think a lab coat would ever be considered a fancy item of clothing, but the careful work of the sculptors and painters has turned this one into a feast for the eyes! Just look at those folds and shadows!!

Looking at the creases around her waist area really makes it seem like the lab coat is made from a soft fabric! The coat was very memorable in both the game and the movie, so it had to look great on the figure as well!! (`・ω・´)
