Nendoroid Japan (Hetalia The World Twinkle)

The cherry blossoms have finally started to bloom here in Japan! Today is also the day that the new recruits come to join the GSC ranks!! I can’t wait to meet them and see what kind of characters they have ♪

Anyway, today I’m going to be taking a look at…

Nendoroid Japan!

From the popular anime “Hetalia The World Twinkle” comes a Nendoroid of Japan! He comes with both a modest standard expression as well as an impassioned expression for when he talks about food!

Optional parts include the case for his bamboo sword, his pet dog Pochi-kun as well as some Japanese rice for him to eat and talk about! He also features a special round base decorated with cherry blossoms to bring out the Japanese atmosphere! Be sure to add the shy and somewhat mysterious Japan to your collection!

“I’m so very sorry for troubling you.”

The character who excels at sensing the mood and being overly reserved; the quiet and diligent young man ‘Japan’ is joining the Nendoroid series!  His rounded silky looking hair, cute pose with his hands held in front of him as well as the elegant yet dignified look on his face… (*´ｪ`*)

 

All of his characteristics have been captured in Nendoroid size! ♥

The white uniform he wears has also been sculpted in detail with even the little buttons and collar faithfully represented!

– Bamboo Sword Case –

This comes with a string that allows him to carry it on his back like above! Note that the actual material of this string to be used on the final product is still under consideration and is likely to change!

– Sitting Parts & Rice Bowl & Chopsticks –

Not only does he comes with chopsticks and a bowl full of rice with an umeboshi on top, but he also comes with sitting parts!! ε=(｡・д・｡)

But that’s not all, he also comes with a passionate expression, perfect for posing him talking about food!! The slight blush on his cheeks, serious eyebrows and square-shaped open mouth make for a rather different impression when compared with the previous face plate!! It’s that contrast that makes it all the more fun though! ♥

The important umeboshi has also been sculpted on top!

– Pochi-kun –

The somewhat despondent looking eyes of Pochi-kun are perfect!!

The soft and round appearance with little stubbly legs has also all been captured to display together with Japan!

Not only can you display him by his side, but you can also display Nendoroid Japan holding him!

▲ It’s as if he is staring down at Pochi-kun! So cute!!

Although he only comes with two face plates, there are a nice selection of rather large optional parts which allow for all sorts of different scenes and situations!

In addition, he also comes with a special round Nendoroid base that features a cherry blossom design! ✿

2017 April Fools: Cat Smile Company!

I often get hungry when watching cat food commercials. They always make the food look so delicious! I’ve never owned a cat so I really don’t have any knowledge on the subject though!

Anyway, as some of you may have realized, yesterday the Good Smile site was taken over by our feline overlords as part of the April Fool festivities! ♪

▲ We hope you were pleasantly surprised when you accessed the site!

We worked together with a cat cafe in Akihabara called Cat Cafe MoCHA in order to make Cat Smile Company come to life for a day!

As part of the April Fool Project I went to the cat cafe together with Chan Shuu (@gscs_hirase), Suwabe (@gsc_suwabe), Yatomo (@gsc_tomo) and Kevin (@gsc_kevin) to take photos of the kitties! ♪

This was actually my first time ever going to a cat cafe! I was rather excited from the get go but there were a lot of things on my mind… Would I be able to take photos of the cats as they ran around? What kind of place was a cat cafe? Would I be able to fit in at such a stylish place?

It all worked out just fine though! The inside was such a friendly atmosphere!

At the entrance you first remove your shoes, sterilize your hands and place your baggage in a locker room!

Then you head inside…!

It’s so stylish! So pretty!!

As my first experience in a cat cafe the fact that I was surrounded by cats was amazing, but I was also very surprised at how stylish and modern the cafe looked on the inside!

My normal targets for photography don’t tend to move around much, so I was a bit worried when I was told I had to take photos of cats, but it was actually much easier to photograph them than I had imagined! They would even take cute little poses for me to capture!!

We went through on a weekday morning and while there were not many customers besides us, everyone was very laid back and relaxed as they enjoyed the kitties! ε=(｡・д・｡)

Whether you are just there to enjoy the cats, photograph them, or even sit and relax with some of the manga that is provided in the cafe… it’s such a wonderful place to sit back and relax!

Some people might be concerned that as they are not used to cats it may be awkward to suddenly be around so many – I was the same! But once you get inside and start playing with the cats you’ll forget anything like that and simply enjoy their cuteness!! It really was a wonderful place to have my first cat cafe experience!

I had the chance to speak with the Shibata from the Cat Cafe MoCHA’s PR department to ask what exactly makes their cat cafes so special!

The inside of our cafes focuses on a natural, wooden look that provides an overall warm and gentle appearance. The exception to this is the Ikebukuro East Exit store which has a more lounge-themed design. The Shibuya store has a more elegant approach – the look differs slightly between stores so we hope everyone will take a look at each of them!

The cats are obviously the main attraction, but it’s easy to see that a lot of attention is given to the design of the cafes as well! They are so warm an inviting! I honestly never expected a cat cafe to look so very modern and stylish!

Thank you for the compliments! MoCHA is a cat cafe after all, so cats will always be the main focus but we really do aim to create an area that people can come and relax even if there were no cats. The warm and stylish “cafe” like design allows for people who have never had the chance to come to a cat cafe to stop by and feel welcome.

 HOW TO ENJOY A CAT CAFE

What is the best way to get close to a cat?

The best way to start is to do the nose check! Point out your finger toward the cats nose and they will almost always come forward and give it a sniff! 


Cats themselves often do this themselves with their noses as a kind of greeting, so it’s a simple way to try and close the stranger gap between you and the cat! 

Do all of your stores allow visitors to touch the cats?


We welcome out guests to pet and play with the cats, but we do ask that you refrain from picking them up. We have a couple of cat toys available in the store as well which you are welcome to use to play with the kitties! By the way, if you wear a long skirt the cats will always come to you and try to hide under your skirt… making you a very popular guest!

Unfortunately I came in short pants!! I wish I had known that beforehand!

Cats love things that move so they naturally go to investigate the long skirts! We also have blankets in the cafe for those who feel chilly, and the cats will often come and jump on the laps of those who use them.

What are the cat treats on this board?


You can purchase cat treats and cat ice cream to feed the cats! These do cost a little extra, but you get to give the cats a little love back and have them come to you which makes it worth it for any cat lovers!

 AKIHABARA STORE

Each of the stores has a different theme, what makes the Akihabara store stand out from the rest?

The Akihabara store has a huge selection of manga as well as game consoles to play on including the new Nintendo Switch! Perfect for the electronic town!

In other words you get to play game, read manga and enjoy being surrounded by cats all at the same time! What kind of guests come to visit?


Compared to other stores there are a lot more guests from overseas. We often also see people come in after work still wearing their suits to unwind after a day of hard work. Depending on the season we also get people that come after looking for work!

We also have various tools to remove hair and smells from your clothes before you leave, so don’t worry too much about what you are wearing!

I can understand wanting to come and visit after a long day at work! It’s the perfect place to relax and forget about any responsibilities for awhile!

As a side note, the weekends tend to get very busy, so if you want a more relaxed time I recommend coming on a weekday! Perhaps the best time to avoid the crowds is weekday mornings – the cats have also just woken up and tend to be very playful! 

We also have feeding time at 10:30 and 19:30 every day! You’re welcome to come at that time to see the kitties enjoying their meal!

The figure is based on a poster that was included in the October 2016 edition of Megami Magazine! She looks so very happy!!! Just looking at her adorable smile makes me feel all happy inside too!! (*´▽｀*)

Let’s start with a look from the back! ♪

When you get an angle where the veil isn’t covering anything up you can see just how revealing the outfit is! Perhaps the perfect outfit for the night after your wedding!

There is also quite the view if you look from a slightly lower angle, but we’ll get more into that a little later…

“Thank you! Thank you!! Let’s be happy together!”

Rem holds a bouquet in her right hand as she extends her left hand out toward you… leading you to a future together with her! The slight blush on her cheeks and that innocent smile… I couldn’t be happier! ( ;∀;)

Speaking of the extended hand… also take note of the ring on her finger! The proof of eternal love!

The rather simple design makes you imagine the kind of life that will unfold with Rem by your side from here on! (I don’t even know what I’m talking about anymore!)

▲ The design from this side is the same, but I was so excited about Rem wearing a wedding ring that I took an extra photo from this side too…

The bridal veil is also beautifully sculpted!

The pure white veil is matched with cute flowers that have a translucent appearance as well as little pearls that decorate her hair! The collection of white shows off just how pure she is! ( ;∀;)

As I have already been married to Rem I guess I no longer have to worry about catching the bouquet!! That said, this particular bouquet looks absolutely stunning! The intricate shadows and the gentle swaying movement of the ribbon has all been captured beautifully! (*´ω`*)

The entire outfit has also been coated in a lovely pearl paint which provides a nice glossy appearance! ♡

The shot everyone has been waiting for!

As if the lovely bare back wasn’t enough, if you look just a little lower down you can enjoy that luscious bottom as well! You’ll have to wait until she joins your collection to see any further than this though!!

Another thing to note is the shiny appearance of her knee-high socks as well as the intricate creases that have been formed on them due to her posing! The attention to detail really is impressive! This figure was born by Phat! Company’s planner Takamatsu (@Phat_stuff) with the dreams to have Rem find eternal happiness… I think this is a figure that shows that she has found it!

I don’t have any specific recipe that I’m good at… I often take a look at recipes online and can generally follow them without trouble, but I’ve never had a recipe that I thought I could make exceptionally well…

Anyway, today I’m going to be taking a look at the…

1/7th Scale Ram!♡

From the popular anime series ‘Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-‘ comes a 1/7th scale figure of the older of the twin maids that serve at the Roswaal mansion – Ram! The figure is based on the 2nd volume of the Blu-ray/DVD jacket cover for the series and features Ram wearing her characteristic maid outfit while holding a deck brush out in her right hand.

Ram is in a more resolute pose when compared to Rem, but her soft-looking lady-like figure has also been faithfully preserved on the figure for fans to enjoy! The base of the figure is specially designed to link together with that of the previously announced 1/7th scale figure of Rem to display the twin sisters together! Be sure to display Ram together with her beloved Rem!

“I am Rem’s older sister. That is one thing that can never be taken from me.”

From Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- comes a 1/7th scale figure of the older of the twin maids: Ram!

She has been posed in an imposing pose holding a deck brush out with her one hand! The confidence in her pose is almost enough to make you think that she is better at cooking, laundry, cleaning and sewing… when the truth of the matter is that title goes to her younger sister Rem!

The unique tailcoat-style design of her maid outfit has been sculpted beautifully, with the frills around her neck, sleeves and the skirt area all individually sculpted for amazing detail! (*´ｪ`*)

▲ The creases on her skirt are also lovely!

But it’s not just the maid outfit that looks amazing… 

The opening on her back gives you a lovely look at her shoulder blades…

From the front her modest bosom looks so very soft! Plus those armpits!

The tight-fitting socks cover up most of the skin on her legs, but you can still easily make out the shapes of the area behind her knees thanks to the amazing sculptwork! You need to slide your finger along the legs to really appreciate the various little ups and downs that have been captured so perfectly! ヽ(●´Д｀●)ﾉ

Let’s move on to her facial expression…

Those downward facing eyebrows and sullen expression… the pose captures Ram’s huffy personality at the start of the series!

I can just imagine her lashing out with some rather harsh words when looking at this expression! As you can see from the photo above, the eye underneath her hair has of course been painted in just as much detail as all the fully visible areas!

Another really well sculpted part is the soft-looking bristles of the deck brush!

▲ It really looks like it has some water absorbed in the bristles!

Today I’m going to be taking a look at the 1/8th scale…

Murakumo Kai-II!

From the popular browser game ‘Kantai Collection -KanColle-‘ comes a new addition to Good Smile Company and Max Factory’s “Wonderful Hobby Selection” series of top quality figures – the fifth Fubuki-class special destroyer, Murakumo in her Kai-II form!

The figure has taken care to capture Murakumo’s charm as faithfully as possible – from her lovely long legs wearing dark stockings all the way up to the impressive long hair flowing behind her. Her 12.7cm twin high-angle gun mounts as well as the sharp appearance of the ship parts above her head have also all been faithfully included! Be sure to add the determined Murakumo Kai-II to your collection!

“It’s finally time to demonstrate the power of my upgrades in battle!”

The latest in the Wonderful Hobby Selection from Max Factory comes a lovely 1/8th scale figure of the fifth Fubuki-class special destroyer: Murakumo in her Kai-II form!

The gentle curves of her body and the contrasting sharp appearance of her ship parts make for a figure filled with so many highlights!! ヽ(*´Д｀*)ﾉ

From the back you can see the incredible dynamic sculpt of her hair as it flows behind her! 

The pose is based on her standard Kai-II illustration from the game! She stands on one leg in a rather simple pose, but the dynamic appearance of her hair makes it look like the whole figure is dashing forward! (‘-‘*)(,_,*)(‘-‘*)(,_,*)

But anyway, let’s get back to Murakumo Kai-II! ヽ(ﾟ∀ﾟヽ 三 ﾉﾟ∀ﾟ)ﾉ

A lovely determined smile and cute eyes with sharp corners makes for an adorable expression, and her body is absolutely stunning!! (/ω＼)

The way the outfit sticks so closely to the shape of her stomach and the detail of the creases formed from that really shows the quality of the sculpt! You get a feel for the softness of her bare skin even though it is all covered up!!

Also note the collarbone!! It also looks rather impressive!

The tights covering her legs are also gorgeous with a lovely glossy look!

The thing to note here is that the slimmer parts of her legs have a darker appearance while the thicker areas are light as the fabric stretches! ★

Her rather characteristic loafer shoes also have a lovely texture as well as a mechanical appearance to them!!

Areas such as beneath her shoes were obviously never visible on the original illustration, but they have been specially thought out and sculpted for the figure!

The same thing goes for the area underneath her mini-skirt….! I really can’t go into much detail but let me just say that the artisan’s at Max Factory really know how to capture the feeling of different fabrics!! Be sure to take a nice close look once she joins your collection!!! I can’t say anything more than that!!

Let’s go back to the her hair again for a second! ♪

I already touched on the movement, but there is another thing about this hair that really stands out – the paintwork on the upper areas is a different color to that of the underside!! (°Д°；≡°Д°；)

The underside has a slightly lighter blue to it that not only brings out the three dimensional feel of the figure but also adds an extra light and bouncy feeling to the hair as it flows behind her! ♪

The little bunches of hair tied up to the sides of her face are also faithfully included on the figure – and in lovely detail too!

Be sure to take a nice close look once she joins your collection! ♥

Last but not least, let’s take a look at the ship parts! ヽ(ﾟ◇ﾟ )ﾉ

Just look at the amount of detail!!

Nendoroid More: Dress Up Suits

Hello everyone!! Kahotan here! (@gsc_kahotan)

AnimeJapan has come to an end! I hope everyone who was able to attend the event enjoyed it!! Now that March is coming to an end and Spring is on the way, it’s time to start planning some cherry blossom viewing… although it’s still rather cold! I hope they manage to bloom soon!!

Anyway, today I’m going to be taking a look at…
Nendoroid More: Dress Up Suits!

The Nendoroid More series was created to make Nendoroids even more enjoyable, and the fifth addition to the “Dress Up” series is here to do just that – Dress Up Suits!

The line-up includes a black suit and an office uniform for female characters, as well as a black suit, grey vest and white shirt for male characters – plus there is one secret design to look out for! The secret design also comes with a little accessory to help create some interesting stories between your Nendoroids! Be sure to add the stylish suits to your collection!!

The Nendoroid More series is a selection of products design to make Nendoroids more enjoyable, and perhaps one of the most popular in the series are these ‘Dress Up’ bodies for Nendoroids! These dashing suits allow for all sorts of stylish and formal poses! ♡

With that aside, let’s get started! ♪

A rather tight-fitting vest together with a black tie for a very smart and intellectual appearance! On the other hand we have a nice formal skirt-type suit for the ladies, with one arm on her hips in a nice confident pose and a little peek at the  light pink shirt underneath!

The black suit for men comes with a refreshing sky-blue neck-tie that gives a lovely fresh appearance! The office lady uniform instead has a cute little ribbon at the top as well as a gentle color scheme that make her look both colorful and cute – and easy to use with all sorts of characters! ★

With this expression the suit no longer goes for the ‘cool’ appearance and instead makes him look rather slovenly! (/ω＼)

The expression above was once of the stickers that could be used on the blank face plate parts that were included with Nendoroid Karamatsu!

Note that the hand and leg parts of the Nendoroid More: Dress Up Suits are articulated allowing you to make various different poses with the suited characters as well!

The latest in FREEing’s BIG B-Style series of figures are Konosuba’s Megumin and Aqua both in matching bunny girl outfits! (*´▽｀*)

What is B-style?

B-style

Both characters are an impressive 1/4th scale! Aqua stands 380mm in height and even bending over a bit Megumin stands 330mm in height!

The arch-wizard with delusions of grandeur: Megumin in a bunny girl outfit!

From “KONO SUBARASHII SEKAI NI SYUKUFUKU WO! 2” comes a B-style figure of Arch Wizard of the Crimson Magic Clan who can cast the powerful ‘Explosion’ spell – Megumin! The bunny girl outfit she is wearing is based on the outfit worn by Yunyun in the first season OVA. Be sure to display her with the upcoming B-style figure of Aqua and enjoy the company of the Konosuba girls in a rather different style!

Perhaps it’s because of the bunny girl outfit, but Megumin’s smile looks so very proud! ♪

The bunny outfit is based on the outfit that Yunyun wore in the series, which had a cute little pink bunny mark on the ends of the arm covers which has been faithfully included! ♡

▲ I also love the details put into the creases on her gloves!

Taking another look from the back but from a higher angle… isn’t she lovely!

Aqua: Bunny Ver.!

The beautiful goddess from a different world: Aqua wearing a bunny girl outfit!

From “KONO SUBARASHII SEKAI NI SYUKUFUKU WO! 2” comes a B-style figure of Goddess of Water worshipped by the Axis Order – Aqua! The bunny girl outfit she is wearing is based on the outfit worn by Yunyun in the first season OVA. Be sure to display her with the previously announced B-style figure of Megumin and enjoy the company of the Konosuba girls in a rather different style!

Nendoroid Emilia (Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-)

This weekend is AnimeJapan! We will be at the event with all sorts of interesting activities and products on sale, so be sure to stop by!

But anyway, today I’m going to be taking a look at…
Nendoroid Emilia!

Nendoroid Emilia

From the anime series ‘Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-‘ comes a Nendoroid of the half-elf heroine, Emilia! Her characteristic outfit has been faithfully converted into cute Nendoroid size, and she comes with three face plates including a standard expression, an angry expression as well a crying expression based on the scene from the final episode.

Optional parts include the robe she used to hide her identity as well as magic effect parts to display her casting her water magic. The spirit Pack is of course also included to display by her side! Be sure to display her with Nendoroid Rem and Nendoroid Ram and recreate your favorite scenes from the series!

“Emilia-tan is such an angel!”

A Nendoroid of the beautiful half-elf who just can’t he honest with herself – Emilia!! The unique pattern of her gentle light purple eyes, lovely long silver hair and even the cute hair accessories have all been faithfully preserved in Nendoroid size! ♥

The details of her elegant white and purple outfit are also lovely, with the frills of her skirt and around her collar beautifully sculpted!

The little end part of her hair that is tied up is actually a separate part connected with a simple joint, allowing you to move it around to match different nuances with your posing!

Of course you can’t have Emilia without a certain spirit by her side! Which means that Pack is also included to display by her side!! ヽ(●´Д｀●)ﾉ

His lovely kitty appearance has been faithfully converted into Nendoroid size to match up with Emilia, and both his neck and tail are fitted with joints for slight little changes in pose!

Emilia also comes with a selection of water magic effect parts!

These parts can be used with the standard expression for a more gentle looking pose, or instead used with the angry expression below for a more serious battle scene!

The change from the gentle look on the standard face to the much more serious, confident look on this expression is captured really nicely!

Those cute bunny-like ears make for such an adorable design!! Just look at the cute little stitching at the bottom of the ears!! This allows you to recreate even more scenes from the series!

A crying expression with a smile! (｀；ω；´)

This expression is based on the final episode from the anime series… it really brings back some emotional memories!

Anyway, as you can see Emilia comes with all sorts of optional parts and face plates to help bring out her character and create all sorts of poses from the series as well as all-original poses! ♥

1/6 Articulated Figure: Genos (One-Punch Man)

Next week a couple of new graduates are coming to join the Good Smile Company team! I can’t wait to meet them! Perhaps I should clean up my desk a little before they arrive…

Anyway, today I’m going to be taking a look at threezero’s…

1/6 Articulated Figure: Genos!

From the anime series One-Punch Man comes a 1/6th scale figure of the S-Class cyborg hero, Genos! The figure is fully articulated and stands approximately 30.5cm in height, with special upper body articulation designed specifically for Geno’s cyborg body.

The figure is articulated down to joints in his individual fingers, and he also comes with a variety of optional parts including an open chest piece as well as left hand parts making use of his incineration cannons. A detachable core piece for his chest is also included, and he even comes with both a white skirt with collar and a light-blue hooded shirt which can be worn for a different appearance. His eyes, chest and palms all feature light-up effects (requires 9x AG1 batteries).

The detailed sculpt of his spiky hair and the lovely well-maintained mechanical body… plus not only are the details are amazing the figure is also fully articulated allowing for everything from simple standing poses to more epic action poses! ♡

▲ The slim look of the pants is great!

The figure stands approximately 305mm in height making it a rather impressive size! Here he is compared with Nendoroid Genos: Super Movable Edition which might help you get a better idea for his size! ♪

That’s right… Genos comes with light-up effects!!

The above photo only shows his eyes and hand glowing, but the interchangeable open-mode chest parts can also light up!

This allows you to pose him as if the core is lighting up! ☆

– Incineration Cannon –

This impressive interchangeable left arm allows you to switch his standard arm into an Incineration Cannon!! Each of the fingers on this version of the arm are also fully articulated allowing for all sorts of different nuances! (∩・∀・)∩

▲ The metallic coloring of the parts looks amazing!

– Shirts –

The figure comes with two different shirts to choose from for more causal poses! The shirt above is the white shirt with collar while below you can see the light-blue hooded shirt! (｡･ω･)ﾉﾞ

kadoo from threezero helped me out with the posing for these photos and I kept asking for all sorts of poses which made it feel like I was doing a photo shoot for some kind of fashion magazine! ★

I personally love the way you can see the various bumps and creases that are formed thanks to the outfit being made from real fabric!! The light-blue shirt also has a hood which can of course also be worn! ♪

So many different options to play around with and enjoy!

The fact that the clothes are all made from fabric also means that they will never get in the way of any poses, and they also naturally have a nice contrasting texture to the metallic appearance of Genos himself!

▲ Even the stitching on the belt loops are included!
