Nendoroid Petite: B.G.M Festival Set -vol.0

It’s been ages since I last found a figure at Oda-P’s seat!

001
Last week the Wonder Festival figures were announced, but there are some normal figures to play with as well!!

I’d better get started! (・∀・)ノ

002

Nendoroid Petite: B.G.M Festival Set – vol.0!

The B.G.M Festival Vol.0 is an music event which will feature music from a variety of different games – it’s going to be held on the 16th April 2011. This set features a set of 5 Nendoroid Petites of characters from the various games that the event will be based on.

         ____

\::::::::: |r┬-| ,/           from different studios all in one set?!”
    ノ::::::::::::  `ー’´  \

Yep! This really is the perfect set for fans of games full of cute girls! It’s great to see all the game makers have come together to work on an event like this!

GSC’s first figures were actually mostly of characters from games like these, and I for one still love them just as much as ever!

003

This is how they look from the back!

Each of them have such different hairstyles and every single one looks lovely!
You can tell which is which so easily even from behind.

004
Let’s take a look at them one-by-one!

First up from Alice Soft it’s…
Uesugi Kenshin from Sengoku Rance!

The Rance series are definitely Alice Soft’s most well known titles.

005

Her helmet can be taken off!

You can put the ribbon in her hair in place of the helmet, leaving you to choose which pose your prefer. Her armor and sword are stunningly detailed for such a tiny figure!

006

Next up is Navel’s
Asuka Watarai from ‘Oretachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai’!

We definitely couldn’t leave out Asuka from this set. Doesn’t her uniform look absolutely adorable in Nendo Petite form!?

007

Then from minori…
Miyako Miyamura from ‘ef – a fairy tale of the two’!

From the popular game that even got an anime conversion!
This is the first time Miyako has been made into a figure! Wow!

008

And from Circus…
Otome Asakura from ‘D.C.II~Da Capo II~‘!

We’ve had a couple of Nendoroids from Da Capo II before, and now the elder sister will be joining the Nendo Petite world. She carries her bag under her arm and has a brilliant smile beaming across her face for you to enjoy!

009

Finally from OVERDRIVE
Kirari Shiino from ‘Kira Kira’

The guitar and mike are so detailed it’s hard to believe she’s a petite Nendoroid!
Kirari also really needed a nice figure to remember her by!

It’s also often shortened down to just “Wonder Hobby”!

There is an article that explains it in a lot more detail that I wrote back in 2008, but once again it is unfortunately only in Japanese…

This is something new we’re trying to try and minimize the time people spend waiting in queues, and also to allow more people the opportunity to grab the figures. We really hope it’ll all go smoothly, but bear with the new system in case something goes wrong. We’ll do our best to see it through smoothly!!!

But whether you’ve realized or not, it’s already Friday…

And that’s all for today!
So I’ll see you all again next week! (・∀・)ノ゛

1/8th Scale Hitagi Senjougahara (Part 4)

Is everyone enjoying their new figure?

016

Good Smile Company’s 1/8th Scale:

Hitagi Senjougahara!

The finale of the Senjougahara blogs is here.

It’s quite the challenge to show everyone the production side of the figure world, but I was really amazed by how it was all done while I was in China, so I want to try and convey that amazement to all my readers.  You can find the previous parts of the Senjougahara blogs here:

1/8th Scale Hitagi Senjougahara (Part 1)
1/8th Scale Hitagi Senjougahara (Part 2)
1/8th Scale Hitagi Senjougahara (Part 3)

012

Lat time I went through how the stationary was painted.

For the part in the picture above, the scissors, pen and ruler would all me made as a single part and then painted by using various masks.

Today we’ll look at how the painted pieces are put together!

018

In this photo, the eraser and the tips of the ruler are being glued together.

This is done one-by-one!

The little pink container in front of her hands here is filled with a special bonding agent, and the little sacks on her fingers are to prevent the glue from sticking to her skin!

019

The biggest part – the scissors.

As you can see these are actually first made in two different halves.

Then, once again…

020

They are glued together, one-by-one!

The toothpicks there are actually tools used for the gluing – the sculptors here at Good Smile actually use the little toothpicks as well!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… the factory workers in China really are craftsman!!

021

Gluing the outer and inner parts of the stapler!

The stapler has a large area in which the outer and inner parts can be glued together, so by creating them in two seperate pieces and then gluing them together a more accurate rendition of a stapler can easily be made.

022

The scissors, craft knife have all been glued together!

There isn’t much place to glue the smaller parts like the craft knife and pen, so gluing them is very difficult –  if you use too little glue they’ll come apart, but if you use too much the glue will end up visable.

There is no way I’d ever be able to do this…!!

026

Pens are being glued on here…

Take a look at the bottom right to see a complete part… how can it be so tiny!?
I don’t even think I could hold a pen that small…

023

By the way, let me pose a question to you now…
How do they always come out at the same angle?

It’s done by using these little tools:

024

Bases that adjust the angles!

As the gluing is done the parts are placed on these bases to make sure the angles are correct.

Every single Senjougahara figure has every single part finely tuned like this! It’s incredible!

025

Finally a little dusting!

Particularly clear parts like the ruler show dust very easily, so at the end of the process all the parts are dusted off with this fluffy little tool.
Careful work down to the very end!

028
figmas of Hitagi Senjougahara and Koyomi Araragi!

They look so good displayed with one and other!
Ararararagi-san doesn’t get nearly as many figures as Senjougahara, so this is for all those Araragi fans!

I want more figures of male characters… please sell, Araragi!!

030

figma Hitagi Senjougahara!

She comes with three different expressions, as well as a ton of stationary just like the scale figure… she also comes with exchangeable hair parts to put her hair up in a pony tail! You can create all kinds of scenes from the anime… and even more if you grab Araragi as well.

031

Araragi also comes with three expressions, separate fringe parts, his bag and effect parts! I really love the two different fringe parts – the one covers up his eye and the other one shows it.

Plus you need to see the back of his neck!

You can see the teeth marks from Shinobu-san… It’s perfect!

033

Recreate the first episode!

Everyone remembers the scene where Senjougahara fell from the stairs!

027

Random Extra!

This here is one of the foods I ate while in China, it’s called “Ankake Fried Rice”, it came out on the a baking dish which I thought was interesting. ^^;

Chinese food has a very fine taste to it which I actually really enjoyed!

I also have a photo of some of the giant clam that I ate… but it looked a little gross so I decided to lave it off the blog…. though it actually was very tasty. 😛

That’s all for today!

I hope to see you all again tomorrow!! (・∀・)ノ゛

1/8th Scale Hitagi Senjougahara (Part 2)

1/8th Scale Hitagi Senjougahara (Part 1)

While I was on my trip to China back in December, I managed to get a look at some of the painting of this figure. It really was incredible to watch it in action…

Today I’ll be showing you some of that incredible action!

By the way….

If you haven’t read the previous articles on my factory tour some of the lingo might be lost on you, so take a look if you have the time:

Mikatan’s Factory Field Trip! – Part 1
Mikatan’s Factory Field Trip! – Part 2
Mikatan’s Factory Field Trip! – Part 3

001

Some more photos from the December factory trip!
All these pieces are freshly molded parts that have been painted white.

They are in fact Senjougahara’s torso!

If you take a look here….

002

This is the painted product!

  | . `⌒ } I think the eventual product looks great though!”
   ヽ       }
    ヽ ノ
   / ヽ

There is actually a ton of drama involved in the painting of the torso as well, but if I were to get into that it would take me about a month to get through… so I’m just going to hold myself back for now…

As you can see, even the inside red bit of the uniform is carefully painted!

003

Let’s move onto today’s main event!

The famous stationary parts!

For size comparison, the left corner shows the size of the ruler, scissors and pen in comparison to Senjougahara’s thigh.

As you can see, each of the pieces are made separately!

The reason they are made from clear plastic is because the ruler is going to stay that way anyway!

But this is where the painting starts!!

004

1) First the parts are painted with a green air brush.

005

(2) This completes the base painting of the pen!

006

(3) Then the handle of the scissors is painted…

007

(4) Just the tip of the scissors are then painted.

         ____
      /::::::─三三─\
    /:::::::: ( ○)三(○)\    “Eh?!
   |:::::::::::(__人__)::::| But doesn’t that take ages then?!”
     \:::::::::   |r┬-| ,/
    ノ::::::::::::  `ー’´ \

008

The blade of the scissors crosses over with the pen, so a mask is used to make sure the painting is separated completely.

This was one of the people in charge of painting the scissors’ tips. who paints the tips of the scissors.

009

(5) The base of the scissors are then painted.

The part of the scissors’ blade above the pen is painted with an airbrush. The mask above is used to paint both sides at the same time, it takes just a few seconds!

010

(6) The finer details are fixed by hand painting!

The masks sometimes have a little leak that causes the painting to come out a little bit wrong, so here is where they fix all the little errors that might come from that.

She holds two paint brushes at once!!

That’s what you call a true craftsman!

011

7) Work Complete!

This tiny little part actually uses an incredible 4 masks alone!

It’s hard enough to get one of these to come out so nicely… but they are able to make thousands all with the same good quality!

012

The complete parts are stored away in this container.

The container is actually made specially just to hold these specific parts! It is made both to store the parts safely, and to make them easy to count at the end of the day.

013

The outer part of the stapler! (The plastic part)
In a previous article I mentioned that some of the color was lost, and that’s because the two parts of the stapler (the outer and inner parts) are painted seperately!

The inside of the staplers are painted, and yet you’ll never see that painting – but it’s still a much more efficient way of painting them.

014

The inner part of the stapler! (The metal part)
The two parts are stuck together with a glue, but I’ll be getting into more detail about that in a future article.

015

Remember how tiny these staplers are! I believe these are the staplers that are used right by Senjougahara’s skirt!

It looks like they are each held together using two clips while they are painted. Isn’t it beautiful!!?

016

Here we have some craft knives!

It’s quite amazing to see how many of them there are here…! Even from this photo you can see the gradient painting  if you look carefully.

That’s right… there is still so much to cover!

I won’t deny that it’s partly because I’m personally a huge fan of Senjougahara… but I also do want to show as many people as possible the beauty behind this figure!

For anyone who has not seen the first blog about this figure, you can find it right here:

1/8th Scale Hitagi Senjougahara (Part 1)

Today we’re going to have a more detailed look…

At all the stationary!

I’ve been writing this blog for four years now…  but this is the first time I’ve done an article on just some extra parts that come with a figure… but the stationary really is so incredible…

It all comes apart into the six pieces you see here.

The yellow craft knife and red scissors on the left don’t connect to the others – they come just like that. You can place them anywhere on the stand that you like.

Alright, let’s try putting the pieces together.

First up the part with two staplers connects to the eraser part!

You’ll find a piece on the end of the pink stapler to insert into the eraser.

Next, the scissors part connects with the drawing triangle part.

You’ll find that that the drawing triangles on each part connect together.

Be sure to hold the parts at the bases!

If you hold them at the edges you’ll find that they will come apart very easily, or you might accidentally snap some parts off!
Hold them carefully and securely when you are trying to connect them together!

Stationary all connected!

There are four small prongs made from clear plastic which allow you to connect it to the figure’s base. Put the longer one on the pink stapler in first, and do the shortest one on the scissors at the end.

Now that we’ve got them all connected up, let’s take a look at just how high quality these little pieces of stationary are!

Even the ruler’s measurements are correct!

Yep. it measures a total of 4cm! ^^;

Good Smile Company even takes care when making tiny 4cm extra parts for figures!

The closest shot I could get!

Just look at the detail of the sculpting and painting on that craft knife!
If you compare it’s size to the finger’s in one of the earlier photos you’ll realize just how tiny it is! For something so tiny to have so much quality is incredible!

The stapler’s use gradient painting!

They really just look like real staplers…

The color is actually lost a little bit because of the close-up photography!

There is actually a reason behind that, but I’ll get into that another time.

This is the size of the eraser!

If you can’t find it, it’s in the bottom right! 😛

It’s about the same size as a Petite Nendoroid’s leg… the little scissors and craft knife on the floor are also tiny! (Plus they have gradient painting as well!)

All the stationary piled on the floor!

The stationary in itself looks amazing… so no matter how you display it, it almost always looks great! You can display it using the actual stand as intended, or if you feel like a change you can display it this with the various pieces just lying on the ground… or you could come up with you very own work of art using them! It’s up to you!

Petite Senjougahara playing with the stationary!

Oooh! It’s so adorable!

There really are so many ways you can use the stationary… if any of you come up with some interesting uses, be sure to mail them through to me!

Quiz Time!

What are the parts in the above photo?

When I went to China in December, I was lucky enough to see the painting of some of the Senjougahara figure! I took a ton of photos of it as well!

In tomorrow’s blog I’ll be discussing the process that these pieces of stationary went through to get made!

1/8th Scale Hitagi Senjougahara

Today I’m going to start off with an apology…

Sorry for the delay!!!

Both the (´・ω・`) face and Teddy have been waiting for ages too! But I’m sure all of you have been waiting even more patiently than them… especially after seeing her displayed all over at events….

But…

She’s finally here!

Good Smile Company’s 1/8th Scale

Hitagi Senjougahara!

It’s the girl who was possessed by a crab from the popular anime Bakemonogatari! The pose is based on a famous key illustration from the series – a very unique pose which places her looking over her back with various pieces of stationary falling from her skirt.

Let me sum up my feelings in one sentence…

She is absolutely incredible!

But at the very least I can go cover the figure for everyone!

This is how she looks from the front!

The figure is actually designed to be displayed with her facing backwards… but it looks nice from the front as well! It’s a rather strange feeling to not be able to see the figure’s face when looking at her from the front, but it’s a nice change!

Her Beautiful Face!

It’s not often you see a figure with a face in profile like this!

Getting the posing of this figure right was apparently quite a challenge!

Here is the face from the front!

Oooh…. the more angles you look from the more beautiful she looks!

Getting the figure to look right from the front and the side was apparently very difficult!

Most figures feature the face at a slight angle or directly from the front, but this one really focuses on getting the posing of the profile face down right. Of course the rest of the figure still looks great as well!

It’s also great to be able to see the front of the figure which was never visible on the original illustration… the sculptors have really outdone themselves this time!

But the face definitely isn’t the only thing to enjoy!

Look at the detail on her uniform!

Getting her into a pose like this where she is holding up her skirt is hard enough, but even the details on the pleated skirt, and the creases from being held up look so realistic! It looks just like a real skirt!

We can’t forget her stationery!

Yet another highlight of the figure!

Every single piece of stationary is very detailed!

Let’s take a look at them in a little bit more detail…

Look at those thighs!

I-I mean… look at that craft knife inside the skirt!

Can you see the craft knife behind the drawing triangle?

Even the details inside the skirt are incredible!
That’s Good Smile Company for you!!!

The stationery on the right!

This picture was enlarged quite a lot, but it still looks magnificent…

The scissors really stand out, but there are also a couple of cutters and even a finer craft knife at the very back!

The stationary on the left!

Look at the detail on those staplers!

And look at the pen on the far left! Even the tip of the cap is painted differently! It’s incredible!

Well she can!!!

This 1/8th scale Hitagi Senjougahara…

… comes with two sets of hands!

One to hold her skirt up, and another holding staplers in both hands!

Even if the pose stays the same, it’s nice to be able to give the figure a little change of atmosphere like this! You can pick whichever you prefer when you display her!

This is how the box looks!

This particular packaging is sure to make fans of the anime crack a little smile! Be sure to look all over the box!

Black Gold Saw -animation version-

I hope you all enjoyed New Year’s Day!

Just a few days ago I finally managed to reach the higher level of the assembly hall in Monster Hunter! I got so absorbed in the game that at one stage while I was walking down the street I swear I saw people throwing paint balls at me…

But that’s enough about me…

It’s time to get this blog started once again for the new year!

I hope that everyone has a great 2011 ahead of them!!

the very first figure of 2011 is right here!

And it’s not wooser!!

Black Gold Saw -animation version-

It’s a 1/8th scale PVC figure of the mysterious character that appeared at the very start of the Black Rock Shooter anime… locked in combat with Black Rock Shooter herself!

The sculptor for the figure is Ken Kawanishi, the same sculptor that did both the BRS and Dead Master animation version figures, so the series really looks great together.

Let’s take a look from another angle!

The contrast of her black outfit with her white skin is stunning!

Her stylish boots go all the way up to her knees!

She has much more of a mature atmosphere when compared to BRS and Dead Master.

Isn’t she beautiful!?

The relaxed expression across her face gives her a nice sexy feeling as well!

This is how she looks from the side!

    ___

\ ` ⌒´ /
 ノ \

Whilst the -original version- focused on a more calm pose, the -animation version- has a much more dynamic pose!

Plus for a 1/8th scale figure, it really has an impressive size!

Her sword, ‘King Saw’!

This was the saw-like sword she was wielding when she battled against BRS-chan! If you look carefully you can also see all the small little scratches and dirt marks from all of her previous battles!

Her sexy stomach and lowcut shorts!

The sculpting really makes the skin look so smooth!

I also really like the shape of the ribs you can just see beneath her breasts!!

And those little gaps between her clothes and skin…!!

I already mentioned it on twitter, but I think those gaps have a special kind of energy that enthralls people… I almost can’t resist trying to stick my finger into them…!!

Don’t do it! Bad Hand!

Unusually large for a character designed by huke!

BRS might have been a flat-chest, but Gold Saw definitely has something to boast about!

Either way, they both have their own charms to enjoy!

A stand that brings the BRS world alive!

As with all the other figures in the series, a very unique stand is included to set the stage of the BRS world.

This time you can see the floor is covered in broken up into smaller rocks with chains suspended in the air. It adds even more to the dynamic feeling of the figure!

Figure stands really are starting to look better and better!
