My best kind of daifuku are mame daifuku! There was a store in Kyoto that made the most delicious and beautiful looking mame daifuku… I really feel like one right now!!
Thanks to everyone who tuned into the live broadcast! Today I’m going to be taking a look at Orange Rouge’s latest Touken Ranbu figure…
Tsurumaru Kuninaga!

The famous long sword forged by Gojou Kuninaga in the Heian era has been transformed into a scale figure! Tsurumaru Kuninaga!
△ Even though it’s a rather still pose, it is filled with life!
△ The first two photos were release photos taken by a professional!
*The difference in lighting causes a bit of difference in the colors.
The white outfit in the image of a crane together with the elegant golden accessories that line it are all such a pleasure to look at! The fluttering appearance of the outfit also gives a gentle look to him, yet his ready for battle pose as a sword ready for battle shows his powerful will as well – I really think the sculpt captures his presence nicely! (/ω＼)
This is how he looks from the back!
His hood looks so soft!!
I could hardly resist trying to put my fingers side his hood!! The hemming and creases along the fabric are so beautifully sculpted!! The golden chain that comes from his chest and ties around at his back also adds a bit if contrast and dynamic feel to the figure. It makes me picture him slowly stepping forward as those two ends shake with the movement.
His sword is also lined with intricate golden ornaments!
The way gravity is pulling down on the chains and tassels together with the detail of the accessories and ornaments brings such an amazing appearance! While the sword looks beautiful you can just imagine how heavy the actual weapon is on the inside! ♪
The deceptively long hair has also been sculpted to look so soft and has a slightly grey tint yo it to give a slightly warmer feeling when compared to the outfit! ε=(｡・д・｡)
Plus while his outfit is mostly white, the use of shadows effectively shows the various layers of his outfit! Another thing to note is that the outer jacket has an ever so slight pearl paint used on it! It’s unfortunately rather difficult to tell from the photos though!! If you happen to be coming to AGF next week then you will be able to come and take a look at the lovely paintwork in person!!
Anyway, there are three main points that I want to introduce to everyone today! ☆
1) Sculpting of Ornaments
I mentioned the details of the ornaments on the sword a little bit back, but there is much more than just that! In particular I want to point out the pleats of his tassets as well as his lovely feet!! ₍₍ ◝(‘ω’◝) ⁾⁾ ₍₍ (◟’ω’)◟ ⁾⁾
The pleated armor along his flanks not only looks beautiful, but also is sure to keep Tsurumaru safe in battle! Both the back and underside of his feet are also all sculpted in full detail for fans to enjoy as well! No matter where you choose to look from Tsurumaru is a work of art! ♥︎
– Physique –
Most importantly… those fingers!! (´□｀｡)
Whilst they are rather graceful and elegant in their positioning, the bumps along the hand have a definite masculine appearance to them! I’m not quite sure what it is – perhaps a slightly more muscular look? But they definitely are the hands of a man!
I think the area that really does it best for me is the rounded bony part on the pinky side of his wrists! Definitely not an area that has much attention given to it on female figures… but the hard-to-notice details like that are the ones that I really love to see, and hope that everyone looks out for them with me!! (*´Д｀)=з
– Expression –
While Tsurumaru has a very gentle smiling expression, there is definitely something more complicated about his expression here.
But if you match eyes with his downward gaze…
The expression has a rather different impression!
It’s more like a smile of confidence now! Like someone who knows their victory is certain! I decided to ask the sculptor of the figure Nanako-san about the expression! (/ω＼)
“Depending on the angle you look at him, Tsurumaru’s expression can look anything from calm and composed to something much more belligerent – at least that that was how I felt, and so I tried to interpret that into the sculpting of the figure as well!”
So it was a planned effect all along!
As expected of Nanako-san!! (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧
