(`\uff65\u03c9\uff65\u00b4)<br \/>\n<\/strong>\u3000<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"pict\" src=\"\/en\/imgs\/9\/5\/952bee71.jpg\" alt=\"047\" width=\"511\" height=\"400\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>(6) The decal is adjusted here and there to make sure it looks just right!<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:large;\"><strong>That brings Nishibu&#8217;s section to an end!!<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nPreviously the painting used to work as &#8220;Cast -&gt; Surfacer (Gray) -&gt; White -&gt; Color&#8221;, but now it instead simply goes &#8220;Cast -&gt; Primer -&gt; Color&#8221;. The reasons for this include:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u30fb It&#8217;s easier to achieve transparent effects.<br \/>\n\u30fbIt&#8217;s less likely the paint will peel from the oil of the cast, as it is sealed inside.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s kind of like getting all your preparations done before actually applying make-up &#8211; girls will understand just how important that is!<\/p>\n<table width=\"530\" border=\"0\" cellspacing=\"5\" bgcolor=\"#ffe4b5\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><span style=\"color:#ff0000;font-size:300%;\">Kawahara<\/span><strong><span style=\"font-size:small;\"><br \/>\nIn charge of: skin painting, skirt painting and hoodie.<\/span><\/strong><br style=\"font-size:x-large;\" \/><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"pict\" src=\"\/en\/imgs\/4\/9\/49eacb80.jpg\" alt=\"008\" width=\"511\" height=\"400\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><strong>(1) Kawapon is carefully placing down some masking tape in preparation for painting. (`\uff65\u03c9\uff65\u00b4)<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"pict\" src=\"\/en\/imgs\/d\/8\/d88a6dc0.jpg\" alt=\"009\" width=\"511\" height=\"400\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>(2) Kawapon has painted Sonico&#8217;s head! Lots of changes were made before he decided on the perfect skin color! (`\uff65\u03c9\uff65\u00b4)<br \/>\n<\/strong><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"pict\" src=\"\/en\/imgs\/8\/2\/82009b30.jpg\" alt=\"012\" width=\"511\" height=\"400\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><strong>(3) Starting to paint the hands! He is so fast and yet still so careful!<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"pict\" src=\"\/en\/imgs\/c\/4\/c4495738.jpg\" alt=\"019\" width=\"511\" height=\"400\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><strong>(4) Applying masking tape to the tiniest little areas&#8230; truly an artist at work!<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"pict\" src=\"\/en\/imgs\/b\/1\/b1e96c78.jpg\" alt=\"024\" width=\"511\" height=\"400\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><strong>(5) More careful masking work! The tape is carefully cut with a craft knife to ensure it is the right size! (`\uff65\u03c9\uff65\u00b4)<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"pict\" src=\"\/en\/imgs\/7\/a\/7a1ac990.jpg\" alt=\"031\" width=\"511\" height=\"400\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><strong>(8) Painting the skirt!<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"pict\" src=\"\/en\/imgs\/e\/1\/e16117f2.jpg\" alt=\"032\" width=\"511\" height=\"400\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><strong>(9) The skirt has been painted, so now the masking tape is carefully removed.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"pict\" src=\"\/en\/imgs\/8\/f\/8fdf21db.jpg\" alt=\"037\" width=\"511\" height=\"400\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><strong>(10) Filling the gaps in the pattern of the hoodie with some decals. (`\uff65\u03c9\uff65\u00b4)<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"pict\" src=\"\/en\/imgs\/3\/3\/33b4c1c4.jpg\" alt=\"040\" width=\"511\" height=\"400\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><strong>(11) It looks like the skirt and legs have been completed now! (`\uff65\u03c9\uff65\u00b4)<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"pict\" src=\"\/en\/imgs\/c\/0\/c0e2cd85.jpg\" alt=\"054\" width=\"511\" height=\"400\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>(12) <\/strong><strong><\/strong><strong>Matte spray is applied to the hoodie to remove any shine or gloss.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"pict\" src=\"\/en\/imgs\/1\/9\/19e5ba00.jpg\" alt=\"065\" width=\"511\" height=\"400\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>(13) A glossy effect is applied to the wire part of the headphones! (`\uff65\u03c9\uff65\u00b4)<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:large;\"><strong>That brings the Kawapon section to an end!!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>As you can see from the above, masking tape is used to carefully mask the areas that don&#8217;t need to be painted a certain color. It is all very delicate work and isn&#8217;t just a case of spraying paint all over the figure.<\/p>\n<p>I think that image #5 is the easiest image to get a good feeling for the masking process. The tape needs to be cut into incredibly fine pieces and then carefully placed piece by piece around all the curves of the figure. (The fluffy part of the skirt in particular here, which has so many curves that it must have taken ages to ensure it was masked correctly!)<\/p>\n<p>I know that if I were to do the exact same job, it would have taken me well over a day&#8230;<\/p>\n<table width=\"530\" border=\"0\" cellspacing=\"5\" bgcolor=\"#ffe6e6\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><span style=\"color:#ff0000;font-size:300%;\">Nobu-san<\/span><strong><span style=\"font-size:small;\"><br \/>\nin charge of : necklace decals and body adjustments.<\/span><\/strong><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"pict\" src=\"\/en\/imgs\/9\/e\/9e6d6572.jpg\" alt=\"004\" width=\"510\" height=\"396\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>(1) Nobu-san begins work on creating the decals for Sonico&#8217;s necklace!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"pict\" src=\"\/en\/imgs\/7\/0\/7086d5c6.jpg\" alt=\"010\" width=\"511\" height=\"400\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>(2) Nobu-san working on the decals using Illustrator!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"pict\" src=\"\/en\/imgs\/5\/e\/5e3cfffd.jpg\" alt=\"016\" width=\"511\" height=\"400\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>(3) Placing the decals on white background needed for printing. Lovely shiny necklaces! (`\uff65\u03c9\uff65\u00b4)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"pict\" src=\"\/en\/imgs\/6\/6\/668f6af0.jpg\" alt=\"028\" width=\"511\" height=\"400\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>(5) Now one of the decals has been stuck on Sonico&#8217;s body.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"pict\" src=\"\/en\/imgs\/3\/f\/3f96dab5.jpg\" alt=\"058\" width=\"511\" height=\"400\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>(6) The body is all coming together now! (`\uff65\u03c9\uff65\u00b4)<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:large;\"><strong>That brings Nobu-san&#8217;s section to an end!!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Not only is Nobu-san an unbelieveable sculptor, he also makes stunning decals in Illustrator!! Often when the decals are first stuck onto the prototypes the colors end up looking completely wrong to how they should look. For that reason, each decal printed in image #4 actually has slightly different CMYK color values, so that various different colors can be tested at once to find the ideal one.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"pict\" src=\"\/en\/imgs\/1\/5\/1547f0a1.jpg\" alt=\"059\" width=\"511\" height=\"427\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:200%;\">But there is still much to be done!!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>We still have the guitar and hair coloring done by Tasshi, and the face and package design to be done by Oda-P!
