And without further ado, let’s get straight onto today’s review…<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The 1\/8th Scale:<\/span>
\nRacing Miku 2014 Ver.!<\/span>\u266a<\/p>\n

GOODSMILE RACING & TeamUKYO is currently taking part in the GT300 class races of Japan’s top motor racing series the ‘SUPER GT’ under the banner of the ‘Hatsune Miku GT Project’. The mascot character for the project is none other than Racing Miku, who is back again in 1\/8th scale, this time dressed up in her new outfit for 2014!<\/p>\n

This season’s Racing Miku was illustrated by the up-and-coming illustrator Oguchi with design direction by Shigeto Koyama, famous for his work in various anime series! The two of them have come together to create a design that fans have come to love, which has now become a scale figure for fans to add to their collection!<\/span>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

<\/span>Oooooooohhh!! \u30fe(*\u00b4\u0414\uff40)\uff89<\/span><\/p>\n

The goddess of the racing circuit is back again as a scale figure this year!<\/span>
\n<\/b><\/p>\n

This season’s Miku is really quite special – illustrated by Oguchi with art direction by Shigeto Koyama! \u2661<\/p>\n

<\/span>The unique posing with lovely twisted hips and her confident expression are beautiful, and the mechanical looking parts on her sides are also sculpted spectacularly!<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/div>\n

The angling of her pinky finger is exquisite! (*\u00b4\u0414\uff40)=\u0437<\/span><\/p>\n

I can’t be the only one that gets a bit of a dainty, elegant feeling by looking at this!<\/b> But anyway, let’s move on and take a look from some other angles! \u266a<\/p>\n

Starting with a look from the back!<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n

The balance of her twisted upper body is magical!<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

This angle also gives you a nice look at her shapely thighs and cute little bottom! But perhaps the most important thing to look at here are her twintails!!<\/p>\n

Miku is best known for her long twintails, and this year’s Racing Miku illustration has them soaring up behind her in a beautiful scene! <\/p>\n

<\/a>\n<\/div>\n

Using nothing but the main illustration which was a head-on view of Miku, figuring out how and where the hair was moving for the figure must have been rather difficult! <\/p>\n

I decided to speak to the man behind the sculpting to find out more! <\/span><\/span>
\nThe GSC Production Team’s Katou-sensei!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b> (\uff40\u30fb\u03c9\u30fb\u00b4)<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/b><\/span>Q: How did you figure out how to sculpt this twisty turny hair?<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>A: There were obviously some parts that were not visible in the illustration, so some areas simply had to be done with some imagination and guesswork, but we also had the original character design images so the length of the hair and volume of the twists could all be calculated using those!”<\/span><\/b><\/span>
\n<\/span>
\nIt’s like time froze just as her hair was fluttering around her! (\uff9f\uff21\uff9f;)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/b><\/span>Q\uff1aThat reminds me, in May we had one of the GSR Supporters Kelal \uff08<\/b><\/span>\uff20kelal0808<\/a>\uff09 come by for photos to be used as posing research!” <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/div>\n

A: “That’s right. We mainly used those photos to work on the collarbone and shoulders. It was important to see where the force of movement was focused when the upper body was bent in that way – we got a load of very useful photos from all sorts of angles which really helped the sculptwork on the figure!”<\/span><\/b><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Some of you may even remember me mentioning this in a past blog over here:

Kelal-san has body proportions very similar to Racing Miku which made her the perfect model to test out how the body would react in certain poses and get a more realistic looking sculpt!<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span>She also danced to ‘Seikan Hikou’ during the photography session!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span>Q\uff1a <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span>Are there any areas of the figure you’d like to point out?<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/span>\n<\/div>\n

A: The sculpt of the hair is definitely my personal highlight… but the mechanical parts at her hips are also really awesome! These were made by Matsuzawa-san from the 3D team!<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>The soft skin of her hips contrast with the mechanical parts beautifully!! (‘-‘*)(,_,*)(‘-‘*)(,_,*)<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

The turbine-like inside of the parts has also been faithfully preserved on the figure! Each of the little white flaps around it also look amazing! (*\u00b4\u0414\uff40)=\u0437<\/span><\/p>\n

As usual the contrast between the mechanical and the cute girl makes for such a lovely sight! It makes her skin seem all the more softer… < \u25ef>< \u25ef><\/p>\n

<\/span>Anyway, let me introduce my personal favorite point of the figure…! \u266a<\/span><\/p>\n

Do you see what I’m talking about?!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The way her hips are twisted…\uff08*\u00b4\u25bd\uff40*\uff09<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The combination of her slender and twisted body… I can’t help but want to touch it!! Not to mention that you also get a nice view of her chest from this angle… ^^<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Another thing I want to point out, is that even though most of her skin is covered up… you can still make out her body’s curves perfectly through the outfit! <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>You can even make out where her belly button is!!<\/span><\/p>\n

Also if you look at the clip underneath her breasts it really looks as if it’s clipped on! It all looks so realistic!! (\u0e51\u00b4\u06a1`\u0e51)<\/p>\n

From the curves modelled off a real model, the soft looking appearance of her skin at the thighs… Racing Miku may be a fictional character but the realism that comes out of the sculpt and paintwork really makes me fell that she is here with me, more real than anyone else!! She is really a work of art! <\/span><\/span>\n<\/div>\n
