Hatsune Miku V3

Today is the 9th of March – Miku Day!★

Hello everyone, Kahotan here! (@gsc_kahotan)

Today I’m going to be taking a look at the Hatsune Miku figure from FREEing that went up for preorder today!

The 1/4th Scale…

Hatsune Miku V3!☆

The Hatsune Miku V3 key visual illustration by iXima has been sculpted into a massive 1/4th scale figure, which stands an impressive 42cm in height.

The twintails winding around her body have been sculpted with the utmost detail, with incredible care also given to the intricacies of her outfit – bringing out a level of realism and detail that can only be achieved through such a large scale figure. This is the work of art that Miku fans have been waiting for – a Miku figure that, both literally and figuratively, stands above the rest!

The beautiful charm of iXima’s illustration has been captured in figure form beautifully! It’s hard to put into words, but just looking at her seems to clear the air around her!! What a wonderful rendition of Miku-san!!

Let’s see how she looks from the back! (・ω・ノ)ノ

△ I wanted to show off this angle, even though it’s cutting it a little close!

The twin-tails at her sides are gently curling  around, and are sculpted in a way that makes them look so bouncy and light, as if floating by her side. Although she is in a relatively simple standing pose, the pose has been captured beautifully – the classic Miku pose! ♪

The creases in her outfit, and difference in texture all over the figure is fantastically done!

There was clearly so much love and care put into making this figure, and it shows! Let’s take a closer look at each of the points that makes this Miku-san so exceptional! (σ・∀・)σ

– Expression –

Her beautiful expression has such a clean and clear feeling about it! (‘-‘*)(,_,*)(‘-‘*)(,_,*)

The gentle yet confident feel that iXima’s illustration had has transferred into figure form so very well!

When the figure is a large scale, the expression becomes all the more difficult to capture correctly – particularly for certain angles. However… I can honestly say that this Miku-san looked lovely matter which angle I decided to look from! ☆

– Size –

To be honest, I don’t think many people have a good feel for just how big 1/4th scale is! (´□`。)

I am one of those people, so to make things easier for people like me, I decided to create a few comparison images!

Size Comparison with Nendoroid and figma!

As you can see… she is huge!! (゜д゜;)

The Nendoroid and figma figures are like little fairies in comparison to the huge scale figure! (Plus, this angle once again shows off those lovely twin-tails!)

As far as height is concerned, here is another comparison!

Comparison with Nendoroid Boxes!

To state her height in terms of Nendoroid boxes…

She is five Nendoroid Boxes tall!!

Looking at the Nendoroid boxes in this photo makes it seem like they’re in fact miniature boxes…! They’re real size, I promise!!

– Outfit –

In particular, look at her arm cover!

It’s translucent!!

The original illustration definitely has a slightly see-through look to the design, and while on smaller figures this amount of detail on a transparent item is difficult… a 1/4th scale figure allows that kind of detail to be preserved so very nicely!!  ♪

Also, while her outfit may look rather simple at first glance, the patterns on her skirt and all the little attachments to the outfit that make it not-quite symmetrical have all been done with painstaking attention to detail – creating an incredibly accurate outfit that simply looks amazing to look at!

The creases around her hips as well as the movement of the frills have also all been altered one-by-one to create a truly faithful rendition that actually has an interesting , almost  realistic feeling to it! (`・ω・´)ゞ

– Body –

A 1/4th scale size really does allow for amazing detail… and not just on the outfit, but also on Miku’s beautiful body! ε=(。・д・。)

You can clearly make out the curves of her body beneath the outfit, the supple curves just bounce right into your mind! ♪

The slight little indent of her armpits are done so very beautifully!! ヽ(*・ω・)人(・ω・*)ノ

Miku-san is well known for her rather slender build, and her soft pale skin looks so very touchable! She really is such a treat for the eyes!

The sculptor behind this Miku-san is none other than Hiroshi (Sakurazensen)!
The same sculptor who worked on popular GSC items such as Ultimate Madoka and Kaname Madoka ~The Beginning Story / The Everlasting~!

The work of Hiroshi always brings out the charms of characters in such a beautiful way! It’s like magic!!

This time around is no exception – the size of this Miku has allowed everything that makes her special to be brought out in magnificent 1/4 scale size!  ♡

Be sure to add FREEing’s electronic diva to your collection and experience her for yourself!!

A huge Miku figure for fans to love for years to come! ♡

Nendoroid Sasami Tsukuyomi

Hello everyone! Kahotan here! (@gsc_kahotan)

GSC has been on Summer break from Wednesday last week until today! I spent my break fighting off the mosquitoes by burning mosquito repellent incense sticks…

…and playing with some lovely reptilian friends! ヽ(*・ω・)人(・ω・*)ノ

I hope everyone had a good time while I was away, whether you were on holiday or not! But anyway, let’s move onto today’s main topic…

A product being shipped out from GSC today…
Nendoroid Sasami Tsukuyomi!

Nendoroids are most often sculpted wearing their school uniforms, but Sasami-san is rather unique as she is wearing her cute pyjamas! Even within the GSC offices she has become quite popular for having a very unique feeling compared to most other Nendoroids!

Her box makes use of a gentle violet and light orange to match her outfit – it makes for a strangely relaxing color scheme!

This is how the packaging looks! Filled with optional parts to play with! (σ・∀・)σ

She even comes with an alternate lower body part to pose her sitting with her legs up, balancing her VAIYO laptop on her knees!

Here we have Sasami-san looking a little tired after watching her brother for too long. Even her curly bed hair has been faithfully recreated in Nendoroid form – and she even comes with a detachable ahoge for when you pose her without the hat!

The patterns all over her pyjamas have also been faithfully shrunk down to Nendoroid size! Apparently this was a rather difficult task for the production team!

Right, now it’s time to have some fun! ε=(。・д・。)

Seen she is wearing pyjamas, the first character I thought to swap parts with was another character that shares a tired expression – Nendoroid Frau Koujiro! ♪

Even her hair color and eyes match!
They must be sisters!! ( ゚д゚ )

It’s almost unbelievable how well these two match up with each other! Even the fact that they’re both computer experts matches!! ♪

Next up…!

“I-It’s not like I’m doing this for you!!”

I couldn’t resist making a pose like this!! ヾ(´∀`*)

This expression comes from Nendoroid Yui Takamura, and suits Sasami-san perfectly! I’ve been waiting to make this pose since I saw the prototype! <●><●>

We also have Nendoroid Kyon: Disappearance Ver. taking the role of Sasami-san’s brother, Kamiomi! But there are still more poses that I was looking forward too…

Like this depressed looking Sasami-san!

Just by changing the pose and angle a bit, the sleepy expression can become more of a depressed expression just like this! ( ・д・)/

You can even pose her fending off a Mikudayo invasion!

It seems that Mikudayo has multiplied!
We may not have much longer before she starts to take over…!

Aah! This is so much fun!!

It’s nice to have a sample instead of a prototype as I don’t need to worry about breaking it too much!

Today I’m also told that Tsukkii from the manufacturing team has something to show everyone! Let’s see what he has to say! ヽ(゚◇゚ )ノ

*Manufacturing Team Summon: Tsukkii*

(・∀・) “I thought I’d let everyone know that the T1 of Hatsune Miku: Deep Sea Girl ver arrived at GSC yesterday!

W-What?! Really?!

(・∀・) “That’s the very first sample that comes from the factories, so everyone here can confirm there are no problems.”

…I don’t suppose I could take some photos? <●> <●>

(・∀・) “Mmm… it’s really still in mid-development, so only some parts!”

That’s enough for now!! ≦(o・⊥・o)≧

Here we go, a look at the T1 of Miku: Deep Sea Girl ver! ♪

Ooh, transparent coral?!

Apparently that is still one of the things under consideration – what to use in order to keep a coral-like texture while still being mass producible! Obviously the final product will be fully painted, so don’t worry about that! (`・ω・´)

The frilly dress already looks amazing!!

The gentle, twisty feeling really looks just like something underwater! I can’t wait to get my hands on the final product version!! ワク(゚∀゚≡゚∀゚)ワク

As soon as I get more info I’ll be passing it on to everyone!

Help Decide on the Design for the 2012 Nendoroid Snow Miku!

We have already reached June!

We’re fast approaching the halfway mark of the year… and WonFes is only 2 months away!

Even though we have moved into summer now…

We still have Snow Miku!

The left is the 2010 edition, and the right is the 2011 edition – she has also been released as a downloadable costume for Sega’s Project DIVA game!

But, there is a bit of a theme that needs to be followed…

‘A 2012 Nendoroid Snow Miku Outfit that makes use of gems/jewels resembling snow or ice!’
Ooh! That seems like it’ll bring in lots of gorgeous designs!

So, in order to get some creative thoughts going I found a little blue jewel and let the previous Snow Miku hold it!

We won’t be able to use real jewels in the 2012 Snow Miku…
But we’ll make them look as realistic as possible!

Well, I say ‘we’, but the real hard work will come from the Good Smile production team… but I’ll be there to cheer them on! Thanks as always guys!

I believe this is the first time we’ll be putting jewels or gems into the design of a Nendoroid!

Snow Miku is known to bring lots of interesting challenges to the team, but it’s always a lot of fun to work on! (albeit a lot of trouble for the production team :P)

Details for entering a design can be found on Piapro’s website linked below, so if you’re interested take a look. (Unfortunately it’s only in Japanese.)
